Reviews for Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge
I stayed at neptune ngorongoro on March 4th to 6th . It was my wife’s birthday and we spent couple of days there . We started with the flight from Zanzibar to Arusha on the 4th of March . Got picked up by our safari guide Rajab on 4x4 land cruiser SUV. From the airport we headed straight to Tarangire national park . It was a 2 hours drive . Snacks and drinks was kept for us in the car . Tarangire was amazing , seen lots of animals specially elephants , tons of them . It was an open roof truck so we got nice pictures . Had a lunch at the picnic area. Everything was well organized. We chosen our lunch a day before we left Zanzibar. We had spaghetti and meatballs , forest cake for dessert . Fresh juice orange and watermelon. It was a nice setup . Finally after the full day , we drove back to Neptune ngorongoro luxury hotel . It was another 2 and half drive from Tarangire national park . A warm welcome from the manager Manoj . Very charming and helpful man . It was raining so there were the staff with umbrella’s waiting for us , another with hot towels for our hands and another staff with some nice hot chocolate drink ! From there , we knew it’ll be a wonderful stay . We got welcomed very nice to the waiting area . Got a warm briefing from Mariam ? Sorry if I forgot the name . She’s the receptionists. Right after we were walked with Manoj right to our cottage . The cottage was very nice and spacious . A large living room with fire place facing the natural bush. The room was big also had a fire place and facing the bush too. We seen buffalos and sometimes you can spot elephants right outside under the cottage . We then went for dinner , it was a nice menu . Nice desserts a good chef! Next morning we had our breakfast and also chose what we will have for our lunch at the picnic for ngorongoro . It was a short drive from Neptune hotel to ngorongoro main entrance . Maybe 2 min drive . We had good time down the crator. Rajab is helpful with all the time he took to give us full history of the Masai , how the name was given of ngorongoro and all the animals and their habits . Good job Rajab ! Good day spotted lots of lions . After the full day of game drive , we got back to our hotel with again a lovely warm welcome ! As we entered our hotel room , a surprise of staff inside , screaming and shouting happy birthday to my wife ! Very surprised , it was awesome . They sang happy birthday and it was well organized . Not long , we went for dinner . Again it was amazing . After desserts another surprise of birthday celebration . The whole staffs , bar man , chef , everyone join the party singing happy birthday, some staff dancing and a wonderful cake was made . These guys took their time for us . Not only it was 1 birthday surprise , they went their way to make us feel welcomed and surprised us again for the 2nd time during dinner . Morning after we had a flight to catch back to Zanzibar . We had breakfast sent for our room , and we ate at the porch . We didn’t want to leave . Overall, it was amazing , everything well done. I do recommend this hotel . For honeymoon , safari , luxury , just an awesome stay , this hotel you can’t go wrong money well worth it . I will be back for another safari perhaps do a lake manyara, and Serengeti. Thank you Manoj and all your staff. You guys are amazing ! Thanks you

Neptune is visually appealing. The main lodge is rustic and luxurious, adorned with interesting, safari-themed artwork by Indian artists, and the grounds are awash in the natural colors of varied and plentiful flora set among meticulous landscaping along the slope of a lovely valley. The multi-room guest cabins are spacious and well-appointed with artwork, large outdoor decks, and, most notably, a double-sided fireplace facing both the main room and the bedroom. Curiously, there was no bath in our room, which seemed an odd omission. Nevertheless, we were quite comfortable, and the property is about as beautiful and well-maintained as a luxury lodge could be. Adding to the excellent first impressions, the General Manager greeted us upon our arrival, which is usually a reliable indication that the priority is on the guests, and we were served tea in a most elegant fashion. As can be imagined, everyone was accommodating with special requests, and the staff was respectable and polite. However, they seemed more robotic than free and spirited in the manner exhibited by the staffs at the other hotels/lodges/camps, perhaps the result of relentless training, if not stern management. We had no complaints of the staff, of course, as their behavior was perfectly fine, if stilted. Other small cracks in the facade of this beautiful lodge were the dining menu, which afforded limited food choices and small portions, and the juice served at breakfast, which seemed watered down, and quite a departure from the abundant fresh-squeezed juices available at other places. American Express is not accepted at Neptune, which was another odd exception. Finally, they forgot to put chicken in one of our lunchboxes, which was quite unexpected from a resort of that caliber. It was at this point that the distasteful effects of the cost-cutting in the details became clear. Overall, we are grateful for the hospitality we received at Neptune, and for the opportunity to enjoy the facilities, above all, so we could recommend it for all of the reasons mentioned above. Given the other excellent options in the area, however, we are unlikely to return.

We did an 8 week trip in East Africa and staying here was one of the top highlights for me. The lodge is stunning, right down to every detail. We loved our huge suite, with its two fireplaces (which they lit for us every evening!), beautiful furnishings and walk in shower. Our balcony was the perfect place to wind down with a cocktail or tea overlooking the beautiful wilderness. To top it all off, one afternoon a family of six elephants walked underneath our balcony! The staff was incredibly attentive, in a kind, genuine way, and they were never intrusive. The meals were realy delicious and the portions incredibly generous. I would 100% stay here again and really recommend it, it's an experience you won't forget!

We stayed here during a safari journey in East Africa in January 2018. Amongst a group of lovely places we stayed during our journey, the Neptune Ngorongoro was exceptional. I would say that it is as wonderful place as we have stayed anywhere ever. Beautiful lodge, gorgeous cabin with separate and large living area and huge balcony area, tastefully furnished, wonderful food, special ambience throughout, stunning outlook and environment, superb swimming pool area, peaceful, tranquil, friendly and helpful staff, I just wish we had been able to stay longer. I give this place the highest recommendation possible (and with special thanks to the GM, Manoj, and his team for looking after us so perfectly and graciously).

The Neptune lodge is UNREAL - we couldn't even believe it when we checked in. The Ngorongoro is, hands down, the most beautiful place we've ever been to and staying near the rim was amazing. Everyone was so kind and friendly: Hussein, Mary, Mr Manoj, Emmanuel, Glory + Tumayne were wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of. My husband and I traveled here in August '16 before having children and we have so many special memories from this trip. The rooms + views were gorgeous and we DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE!
