Going to the Post Ranch Inn was a Bucket List Hotel for us. We were super lucky because the roads to the hotel are closed so you have to fly in by helicopter. With roads closed we basically had a 20 mile stretch of Big Sur to ourselves which is probably a once in a life time experience. The hotel location is wonderful--peaceful--relaxed--quiet. We had an Ocean View Room which was large and very comfortable. Our view of the Pacific was mesmerizing especially at Sunrise/Sunset. The rooms do not have TVs which was a blessing. My only complaint is the rooms (J Post Room) could be cleaned a bit better. Having cobwebs in the Bathroom at a hotel of this price is not acceptable. The restaurant was fantastic--we loved the food and the service. For dinner they have a menu that includes meat, seafood and vegetarian. For breakfast they have a. wonderful buffet with so many delicious options. My only complaint would be the service was not what you would expect at a hotel of this price and level. The front desk service was non-chalant. We were lucky that the person that drove us to our room told us they have free Lexus cars to borrow. As we left the property the couple that flew with us did not know about the free cars. They were clearly disappointed that no one told them about it. Big Sur is a magical place. I would definitely come back to the Post Ranch Inn

Incredibly perched on the Big Sur coastline this hotel offers the views of a lifetime. Rooms use local materials and give you a sense of balance. The restaurant is very good as is the spa. Not just luxury - it has magic.

What a joy this hotel was! We arrived by helicopter which was just fabulous in terms of views. Adored our coast room and attention to detail with enticing minibar, jacuzzi bath with coast view to die for. Lovely terrace and view of the sea and so peaceful. Lots of wildlife and flowers to enjoy and hot pools with glorious views. Delicious lunch and dinner in the restaurant, again with fab views, less impressed with breakfast...put it this way, wish I lived here!!!

Absolutely beautiful accommodations, excellent service and wonderful dining experience. Post Ranch makes your stay so wonderful you never want to leave. Be sure to book a room with private hot tub on your deck overlooking the ocean. Spectacular and impossible to disappoint. Cannot wait to return again and again!

Look. This place is expensive. It's a once in a lifetime experience for most people. We went for our first anniversary when it had just opened in 1992. We went back for our 10th. We just keep going back. We're lucky in that regard (when we first stayed there the rates weren't so high). In our view, you will never experience another hotel experience like this anywhere in the world. Big Sur is special in a way you will never forget. The post ranch inn achieves an incredibly nuanced balance between luxury and nature. The architecture is stunning. The restaurant even better. If you can do it, you should. You will never forget.
