Bluefields Bay Villas in Bluefields, Jamaica

Bluefields Bay Villas rings with authenticity. It’s a rare all-inclusive experience where guests are immersed in the Jamaica that existed before tourism - staying in cottages isolated from each other and the rest of the world. This is the leeward side of the island, so the waters – and life – are calm around here.

Your Ideal Day: Breakfast is served when you awake - no need to rush anywhere. Don a snorkel and fins and swim right into the water from your villa to spend some time with the damselfish. Or take the glass-bottomed boat out a bit further for a snorkeling experience with a group, friendly captain and cooler of Red Stripes. Paddle out into the calm, tepid bay on sea kayaks to watch the sun set into the water ahead. Dine on traditional pumpkin soup, salt fish and conch prepared by your villa chef, in the intimate space of your own private “island” accessible by land bridge.

We spent 10 day at Bluefield Bay Villas. Half of our stay at The Hermitage and the second half at Cottonwood Cottage. Both are amazing and have lovely private pools with easy walking access to Bluefields Beach. Hermitage was definitely more luxurious of the two homes with many more rooms, so better with a larger group or two family sharing together. Cottonwood had more local Jamaican charm though. The nannies provided were top notch and both of my kids were happy with them. I loved the privacy, ease and amazing food on this family vacation.

There isn't enough positive feedback that I could give about our trip to San Michele at Bluefields Bay Villas. It was simply amazing! The staff of incredible. Our butler Marvin was one of a kind. We wanted to bring him home with us! The accommodations at the house was overwhelming. The house and the view was breathtaking. Even the beds were more comfy than at home. When we first pulled up to the villa, our mouths dropped from the amazing view that we were going to have for 7 days. I would go back in a split second. Anyone even considering to go there.....DON'T hesitate. Do it...you will never regret it.

We spent Thanksgiving week at Bluefields, staying at the Hermitage and Mullion Cove villas (but we actually got to visit all 6 villas). Each villa provides privacy and comes with its own staff (housekeeper, chef, etc.) so literally everything is done for you, from serving you customizable and sumptuous food 4 times a day (breakfast, lunch, aperitif and dinner), to ensuring your glass is never empty, organizing activities (e.g. sailing, day trip to waterfalls, etc.) and doing your laundry (included, how lovely to return home with clean clothes!). The indoor-outdoor showers in both villas we stayed at were wonderful: there’s nothing quite like stepping into a private garden to dry off! The biggest challenge of our stay was deciding whether we wanted to relax by the private pool, play on the beach, paddle board in the sea, or tan on the villa's beach gazebo… Essentially, if you want a truly relaxing, private and luxurious holiday with dedicated staff, this place is for you!

We stayed in the Cottonwood villa at Bluefields Bay. Every single staff exceeded our expectations during our 1 week stay. The villa and the ocean view, the lush greenery, the perfect morning breeze - these are all things that are easy to fall in love with. But what made our stay extra remarkable was the warmth and hospitality of the staff! We need to especially thank the staff who were with us the most: - Nanny Tashieka for being so doting, thoughtful and engaging with our two girls (ages 4 & 6). We all miss you! - Chef Damaine for working SO hard in the hot kitchen, turning out scrumptious meal after meal. Your passion for food is infectious! A special thank you for tailoring every meal so that our gluten-free / dairy-free daughter always had something delicious to eat such as the special beef crepes. This made a world of difference for our family! - Housekeeper Tamara for all your diligence keeping our space clean, refreshing towels and drinking water, keeping on top of our laundry, etc. - all of that did not go unnoticed! And I must mention the gluten-free banana pancakes you made especially for Aubrie - so delicious and so quickly devoured! She was a happy girl because of you. - Butler Christopher for pulling out all the stops especially on our final evening setting up that stunning candle-lit dinner out by the pool. You really ended our trip on a high note. - James the Jerkmaster for allowing me to watch and take photos / videos of your jerk chicken process. You were such a joy to chat with and your chicken was legitimately amazing! - George the gardener for taking us on the tour of the property and patiently showing us the vast array of tropical plants. I enjoyed the garden tour so much! - Filbert the night butler for watching over us each night and for anticipating our wake-up with a fresh pot of coffee and fruit platter to begin each morning. Finally a shout-out to Carey, Ro-Anna, Karl, Ray, Carmen and Leasa for all that you did to make our stay extra special. You all have set the bar very, very high. You can bet we will return to Bluefields soon. xx the Chiu's

Had the pleasure of staying at Bluefield Bay Villas this past summer- we stayed at the villa called Hermitage but also got the chance to spend some time at a few of the other villas - San Michele, Mullion Cove and Cottonwood Cottage. Some are on the same property and some are separate. The location is amazing- far from "touristy" areas so very quiet and relaxed. We were on a bluff overlooking the sea, from which you could walk down to a large stretch of amazing beach, part of which is exclusively for guests' use. There are walkways and private coves and hidden sitting areas all along the seaside where you could relax in private. The villas are surrounded by lush tropical gardens and the interiors are appointed with a fabulous selection of antique hardwood furniture (mostly mahogany I am guessing). Even more impressive than the physical location is the level of service - the staff is expertly trained and would fit in perfectly in any high end hotel or restaurant worldwide (this is not the typical experience in Jamaica, persons can be friendly and enthusiastic in these roles but often do not have the sophisticated level of training and management to accompany this.). Every meal was introduced by the chef, our waiter/butler knew about the wines, there was always someone nearby if you needed something, but also removed enough to not be intrusive. I've stayed at villas and hotels throughout Jamaica and the Caribbean, but I really can't recommend this property enough- they're really on a completely different level than the vast majority of others.
