Best Waitress & Host at Seaside Grill & Oceana

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

We had stayed at this resort back in 2017 when we came with our kids. This time it was just the two of us and we had an amazing time. The absolute highlight of our stay here was when we met Aby and Demian at the Seaside Grill and Oceana restaurants. Demian was the restaurant host who sat us at our table for two nights in a row. He was extremely friendly and accommodating. Really appreciated his kindness and willingness to help. Our waitress, Aby, was the nicest person ever! She is so sweet, kind, and friendly. We really enjoyed interacting with her and she was so attentive to our needs and requests. On our last night at the resort, we casually mentioned that we were flying back home the next day and she arranged for a special dessert with a lovely message written on the cake which said “Have a Safe Trip!” My wife and I really appreciated the kind gesture and will always remember it. Thank you Aby and Demian for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable! Muchas Gracias!

Fun with family

We recently stayed at Dreams Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The staff throughout the resort did an amazing job making us feel welcome, appreciated, and well taken care of from the moment we arrived. One suggestion for improvement would be the arrival process. After check-in at the preferred clud we were given our room keys and directions, but no one escorted us to our room. Since the property is large, it was a little confusing trying to find our way. Thankfully, after asking another staff member, they kindly walked us there. The restaurants were good overall, although we did experience some confusion at the hibachi restaurant. We were told there were no reservations available, yet when we arrived there were two large empty tables, and only a party of three was seated where a larger group could have fit. Also, the French restaurant requires long pants for men, which prevented me from dining there, so just be aware of the dress code before going. The entertainment was enjoyable, and the pool staff did a fantastic job engaging guests and keeping the atmosphere fun and energetic. The most memorable part of our trip was the incredible experience at the Patio restaurant. David, our waiter, and Eddie, the chef, created a very special evening for my family with authentic Mexican cuisine. They truly made us feel special and cared for. We also had the opportunity to meet Luis, who I believe is the executive chef, during the Paeja Pool Feast. He personally invited us back for another authentic dining experience, which made a lasting impression on us. Because of the hospitality from Luis, Eddie, and David, we are already considering booking another trip for a group of twelve sometime in late October or early November. Thank you again to the amazing staff for making our experience so memorable!

2 week Holiday

This is a beautiful Hotel set in lovely grounds and staff are friendly, polite and professional. Rooms are lovely but strange layout with plunge bathtub in room behind beds so not private. Shower & toilet have slightly misted glass so not very private. You can pay extra to have plunge pool or tub outside . Mini bar was not stocked daily as stated . Room service is good . Maid service good. Restaurants lots of choice Italian was ok . French was the best and beach grill and ocean restaurant good. Buffet is good if you want a break from the sun at lunch time . Amstar is onsite in hotel that arranges trips and pick up and drop off , however they did not pick us up when we landed and did not try and find us it appeared others found them and they left without us and we then had to get a taxi and was told by Amstar we had been scammed which was not a great start to the holiday. Amstar need to be holding signs up with names on so no one gets missed. However we changed from shuttle transfer home to private for no extra cost and the missed pick up was reported . First day friend fell over in buffet as cleaner was washing floor and no wet sign and cut her knee and no one came over to see if she was ok apart from an American couple Tony and Teresa which was lovely of them . We did report the accident and my friend was given a couple of plasters. The cleaner washing floor just carried on washing floor and picking up broken plate and there were plenty of wet signs around after that. . However after complaint staff could not do enough for us which was very nice . Buffet staff Irscema and Murcico was so lovely throughout holiday. We got invited to chefs garden dinner one night which was very nice as only 30 people and was on a table with the best people Kathleen and Chip, Natasha and Vim and Chaneese and Amy and husband . Food was good and great atmosphere. Lobby in the evening was very hot as no fans and no air con but it's open but fans may help. Pool Service is amazing, Victor is the best he would check in with you so often and ask how you are offer more drinks and ask If you're ok he is an asset to the hotel and works so hard to please everyone. The pools and beach are fantastic there is a lot of seaweed at the moment and you see guys with tractor everyday so can be bit smelly but that is nature and not hotel fault they do try and clear it away. Cabanas around both pools and beach are not free and are between 80-150 dollars a day which I think is so over priced and unfair after paying for all inclusive holiday. You get wine and fruit as well but you can get that anyway as all inclusive. Why pay for it again. Entertainment is ok fire, acrobatic and decade show very good. DJ at 11pm in lobby is ok but lobby too hot to stay in most evenings. You have to pay extra to keep your room past checkout which was not great as on a night flight but we did get it slightly reduced from 150 to 100 dollars for 4 hours but still expensive other hotels do not charge. Porter did not come for our cases when leaving even though arranged .The holiday and hotel was lovely, apart from a few issues which were not great, overall it was a lovely relaxing holiday. Thanks Amanda and Emma.

You will want for nothing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Went with adult daughter. Been to Mexico many times over 20 years. I will tell you, this resort is FANTASTIC when it comes to customer service! You will want for NOTHING! Check-in, seamless. You will immediately be approached by time-share but easily escaped the full press by just being nice a prolitetly declining. Restaurants, Plentiful and many to select from. Buffet was closed the Monday-Wednesday. I assume because it was slow on those days? When open , it is never busy. You will never get a reservation for the Hibachi grill in the Japanese unless you want to eat at 9:00 at night. Reservations are impossible-so what! Go eat Japanese, you’ll see the show from your table. Great coffee and pastry shop 24/7. Rooms-Tricky if you’re sharing a room with a person you don’t want to expose …. No privacy. Everything is open. You have a toilet closet and a shower closet. Jetted bath and vanities all open to the bedroom. Didn’t care but you have been warned. Pool Area/ beach- Nice. Three pools are all together. Adult pool has swim up bar. Activity and kids pool and adult pool all within feet of each other. I recommend the sauna area. They have padded chairs in that area, and is nicely set back away from the pools. It’s quiet and in the shade most of the day. You do NOT need to fight for a chair. Relax, you’re on vacation. If a chair isn’t where you want one, move it! Bars-5 open all the time. Don’t sleep on the beach bar! It’s got swings. Beach-very nice soft white sand. Now, this time of year you are going to have to put up with a foul smell and VERY thick layers of seaweed, (or whatever that stuff is). It occurs this time of year. It’s Mother Nature. Was in Cancun in October and January and not an issue so go then if this will ruin your vacation. Staff-So VERY polite and attentive to your every anticipated need! In my book, this is what will make or break a resort, not the brick and mortar. Bike ride into Puerto Morales-Go! 10 minutes by bike, 30 minutes via beach. YOU MUST HAVE CLOSED TOE-NO STRAP shoes!!!!! Had to buy $30 Aquashoes at resort to go. ONE AND ONLY NEGATIVE———- The weddings. Hear me out! There at least 2 a day. I have been to many resorts and witnessed weddings. Congratulations! They are great! Typically they are low key, discrete and do not intrude of the hundreds of other hotel guests—that is not the case here. I get it, I am sure weddings are real resort money makers but it seems it’s their priority. Staff will clear chairs to make room for the weddings by the pool. Last night there was a wedding reception/dance on the pool deck that played loud blasting music into the night. There are rooms surrounding the pool. I felt bad knowing there were families with little kids trying to sleep. One day I came out to the pool at 9:00am and they had already cleared chairs for an event. They will also put up signs politely requesting you stay out of an area they will be using. If the resort is going to have these many events per day, they may want to make an actual event area that is more private and less intrusive to others.
