Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa

This is a fine, good--but not great--property. As a solo traveler, I was able to find some nice quiet spots to sit each day. Tons of families and little kids which didn't bother me at all--but be prepared for it. The room was....weird. Open bathroom plan with mostly frosted doors. By myself so who cares but offering little privacy for couples or families. Also, the shower pressure was abysmal. Cleaning and turn down service each day was perfect. The sargassum on the beach is an issue. I understand that this is out of the hotel's control but the beach was unusable and the smell permeated everywhere. I don't think there's anything to do about it, but it was definitely in the room and it was an issue. I had a plunge pool room which I was initially hesitant about (being on the ground floor) but it turned out to be one of the highlights of my stay. The preferred club is meh. Nothing really different is offered that one can't get anywhere else. Check in was aggravating. They walk you in, and then there's an upsell attempt for the vacation club and to go see another property. Luckily I knew this was going to happen and could shut it down fast. They told me my room would be ready "in 15 minutes" which was so precise it made me suspect that they do that so you will hear the sales pitch while you're supposedly waiting. Please, just let me check in like I do in any other hotel. I found the staff friendly and cooperative and doing their best, but nothing outstanding. I did have to wait a bit for seating at restaurants but who cares? The lobby bar was my favorite hangout space for cocktails (and for waiting with my beeper for tables)--extremely comfortable and attentive service. A+ there all around. I booked the hibachi table one night and it was certainly a highlight. As a solo traveler it was pretty easy to book but I heard that bigger parties had more trouble doing so. Definitely would recommend. I did pre-book the spa for a massage and it was a wonderful experience. Food & drink were what one would expect at an AI and I was perfectly happy with all of it. (They do try to upsell you on wines). So, completely adequate stay but I might opt for something a little more upscale next time.

Oliver at the pool was so great! He was really fun with the kids kept the kids entertained! He always recognized us and would make sure we were joining for events happening later during the day & kept us looped into the fun going on!

Oliver is the man! Loved the resort and would recommend for families.

Melania and I forgot the name of the kind lady who did my massage at the spa yesterday, both so kind.

My daughter is having the best time in the kids club. Patricia is so friendly and takes such good care of the children. She doesn't want to leave!! Thanks guys!!
