Reviews for Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa

Phenomenal trip - wish it was closer!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

Thanks to Rowena at Virgin Holidays Glasgow for selecting Dreams Rivera Cancun from my very limited wish list of “an infinity pool” - this met my wish list and more! First off, I have given this trip 5 stars due to the service we received from the staff. Housekeeping was amazing, rooms spotless every day (wish your trolleys were a wee bit quieter though!) and decorative touches for our anniversary were greatly appreciated. There are 3 distinct pool areas - the kids play pool (watch out when walking past, you might get splashed!) the main pool that everyone can access that’s good for cooling down & activities (aqua Zumba etc.) and the infinity pool that only adults can access that also has a limited number of cabanas (that you have to pay extra for). The pool area could probably use more umbrellas as the sun is much hotter than the UK/Mediterranean. The main thing to know regarding the loungers (which we didn’t realise until several days into the holiday) is (barring bad weather) that the staff will put the rolled up towels on EVERY lounger, so you don’t need to get a towel from the cabana (unless you want extra ones). They must get up ridiculously early to do this, it’s phenomenal. If the towel is unrolled and placed on the lounger then that means someone has nabbed it. The logic is lovely neat rolled towel = available, unrolled/messy/other stuff = bagged. Antonio was very helpful when we wanted to book a cabana for our anniversary and Israel provided outstanding service to us for our drinks. Commendation to Alex (another pool area waiter) for his service too. In terms of activities, the dream team of Uzzy, Edgar and Francisco were amazing and a special mention to Gustavo for his wine and tequila tasting events - I genuinely learned new things. The food is amazing, everywhere is just incredible. The pool side grill has absolutely delicious burgers and there are themed events almost every day with food & drink. The breakfast choices at the buffet were mind boggling, our waiter Andy was very helpful. I do wish customers would stop messing with the toaster settings though! Our favourite restaurant was El Patio (the Mexican one) and thanks to Enrique, Vincente and Walter for their outstanding service (plus the greeter whose name I forgot to get but she was just lovely!). We also went to the Seaside Grill for both lunch and dinner and were very well looked after by Asael, Sandy, Ediberto, Isiasia and Luis. Other notable mentions for great service go to Gabriel, Gamaliel and Francisco at Himichi, Reyes at Portofino and Wilberth in the lobby bar. There are 2 shops - one by reception that stocks medicine as well as Dreams themed gifts and a second exclusively gift focused shop near the coffee bar (which is also excellent!) - the second shop (in my opinion) has nicer gift options.

Best outdoor water circuit in the Yucatan

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

I love the outdoor water circuit in the mangrove with trees and vegetation all around you. It’s my favourite I can spend a whole afternoon at this spa. Thereso is the queen of the women’s locker room and always has everything ready including a cool drink after the sauna! Wendy takes you through the water circuit ensuring that you are comfortable while at the same time being discreet so you can immerse yourself in the experience.

Relaxing pampered experience

Excellent in every way. Needed to relax. Not used to being pampered. Pool concierge, Pedro Cosco went beyond exceptional! I have zero negative comments. We love the friendliness that surrounds us.

Birthday Family Vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 13 hours ago

We had an amazing stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun celebrating our daughters' birthdays. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. Erik Ramirez at the pool helped us with reserving cabanas each day and helped us secure seats to evening shows.

Just okay

Pretty but dated Resort. Pros: the wait staff and cleaning staff are lovely. There are always plenty of beach towels. Nice massage by Jasmine on the beach (not the hotel) Cons: (so very many) 1)we received the RUDEST welcome imaginable. Despite being preferred class (which is a waste of money in all ways) we arrived at midnight so tired and carrying a sleeping child and we had to wait an hour to check in (so Much for special check in). People before us had luggage still waiting in the lobby so we pushed our own cart as we needed diapers and to get to bed so we couldn’t wait the hour for our bags to be delivered. Well, between 1:00 and 2:00 AM they called the first room (with the baby) and then our rooms 4 times demanding (rudely) that we return the luggage cart. Well we were too tired and to boot- we had wandered all over the resort trying to find our rooms in the dark so we would have struggled to find the front desk. 2) day 3 - Montezuma’s revenge for all but one of us (including the baby) 3) a LOT of seaweed 4) tractor roars outside the room trying to clean up the seaweed at 5:00 AM 5) 7:00 AM you MUST have a chair reserved - and preferred means nothing as that area also has all chairs reserved by 7:00 6) blaring music for a wedding RIGHT in front of building one on the beach that went until late when we had an early plane to catch in the AM and a baby sleeping 7)building is quite outdated so could hear the people above walking about at 6:30 everyday 8) people above can see right onto your patio where the tub is located 9) useless swim ups-never saw one being used.10) bali beds are $100-$200 per day 11) crappy shows 12) no butlers 13) loud music Pretty but dated Resort.
