We just returned from six days at this Dreams property. While the resort itself is lovely, very beautiful grounds and well maintained buildings and outdoor spaces, the food is beyond edible. We tried several of the "finer" dining options and after waiting 90 min for a table (note: there were always at least five empty tables) we left full plates on the table. Even the breakfast buffet was terrible. We tried room service which had a very limited menu and that was even worse. We lived on the Barefoot Grill which is by the pool and has the only decent beach food. I hate more French Fries and pizza in one week than I ever have. Thankfully, we did the Preferred Club and the snacks in there were decent so that also saved us. The wine selection stinks, low grade brands and the bottles to purchase were ridiculous--who would pay $35 for Yellowtail?! On the plus side, we had a fabulous room located almost on beach with plunge pool. I highly recommend doing a plunge pool and the preferred club. The overall hotel service was average, it is not a luxury resort. There is no beach service where they make up your chairs, you have to walk to the other side of the resort to get towels. No one manages how many chairs people take and never use. I was out by 7 AM every day to grab chairs. They also don't manage who sits in the Preferred Club section which is annoying since we paid extra for it. The kids club is totally lame, thankfully our kids didn't care. The beach is stunning and they do a great job keeping it clean. If you're taking a van service via the hotel, bring cash. No one told us this and we had to use the ATM. Most hotels charge it to your room. We had a great time but all feel so grossed out from the food that we would never go back. The resort is average at best. We're still laughing how you have to wait in line for tables when there are empty seats. Poor management. We saw this multiple ways.

This review comes with over 25 trips to the area. The hotel in general is ok but certainly not a five star for many reasons. General: great location, beach cleaned of seaweed every day/ all day, fairly good entertainment, upgrade to the "preferred" level was worth it for the room overlooking the pools and ocean. We did not travel with kids but there were lots there and well behaved I might add. The comments we heard regarding the kids club were outstanding. Pros: Ivan serving on the beach was out standing. I can't say the same about the guy behind the beach bar that would ignore me if I didn't have a tip in view. Cons: Their are a few and for these reasons we would not return to this hotel. - we paid extra for the preferred club for the room upgrade. View was worth it. The person at the preferred check in could have showed some enthusiasm for his job, the resort and our staying at the resort. Then you get turned over to a time share person which we were not there for. I told the sales person we were not interested in looking at other resorts and were not there to buy anything. She told me not to get mad. - A working elevator for our building would have been nice as we were on the 5th floor. It was obvious this wasn't about to be repaired anytime soon as a permanent sign was installed to notify that it was out of order. - a dresser in the room would have been nice to put you cloths in. - fully stocked mini bar included 4 half bottles of beer and 3 2oz bottles of booze. REALLY! - The big downfall of this hotel is the restaurants. There is no reason to line up to get into the buffet as tables were open at all times. Waits were consistantly 10 to 15 minutes ALWAYS. The buffet is the smallest I've ever seen at an AI. First time there for supper I walked around twice with plate in had, still had nothing on it. That alone says a lot. Tried the Bordeaux once: seared scallops were raw and room temperature, fillet ordered medium was raw. Did not return. Mexican we found very good. Chicken served at Bordeaux and the Mediterranean was from a chicken roll! REALLY? We had a few meals that were much better down by the pool at the Seaside Grill and Oceana. The grills they put on down by the pool on a daily basis almost were the staple of our diet. If you are not at any of the speciality resteraunts when they open there is an 60 - 90 minute wait. Didn't do the Japenese as the only time we could get was at 5:30. After having breakfast in there and seeing the cleanliness we opted to pass. The pizza/pasta place is not listed but was pretty good. Once again, a very small place at waiting an hour is standard. Over all, great for families with small kids but I'm sure that can be challenging with all the waiting. Most of the staff were teriffic serving with a smile, room with a view made our vacation along with some really good weather.

I didn’t know what to expect coming to this hotel, but the moment I walked in to the moment I left was amazing. The hotel was beautiful, the food was great, and I was never bored. The rooms were great, a little noisy, but very pretty and the maids and staff was always ready to help you. The pool and beach area was AMAZING thanks to Chicken little, Daniel, Carlos, and Rafael. They were always super friendly and full of energy. My trip would not be the same without them. Black jack, water aerobics, making bracelets, and beach volleyball was so fun and a highlight of my trip. All of the restaurants were great with good portions. My friend Bella and I always loved the night time entertainment in the lobby. Again, the entertainment crew was always working and making everyone have fun. They were so easy to make friend with and super kind to me. I’m so happy i stayed at Dreams and this was one of the best weeks ever!!

Perfect sized resort, not too big (that you need a tram to move around) and not too small (don't run into the same people all the time, lots of food choices). The pool (s) layout is such that there is lots of chairs available to sit at the pools edge anytime you want. Beach is fantastic. As you would expect the resort, room and beach are all very clean, staff are very friendly and service was outstanding. The no wrist band, no towel card and no reservation at a'a'carte restaurants give you the freedom to enjoy your vacation without worry. We ate earlier than most - 6:30 - 7:00pm and did not wait to get in once. The restaurants are excellent - after eating at Bordeaux (French restaurant) I felt like I should be grabbing my credit card for a $200 bill. Escargot, beef tenderloin (cooked perfectly), dessert, wine and service were awesome!
