Reviews for Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun

10 Years Later, Still Great...but...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

We first visited Live Aqua a decade ago, so returning for a milestone anniversary trip came with high expectations. In most ways, the resort delivered. In one significant way, it didn't — but the staff made up for a lot. **The Good** The resort is immaculate. Pools, bars, restaurants — everything is maintained beautifully, and the staff across the board are warm, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs (with one exception in the club lounge). A few people deserve to be named specifically: butlers Eladio and Rodrigo were exceptional, and Omar and Guillermo in the Club Lounge made every visit a pleasure. There was one other worker there during our visit who had a real chip on his shoulder every time we were there, made us seem like we were such a nuisance (and we're tippers!) - so I won't name him. In the activities area, Ricky has the kind of infectious energy that makes you want to join every game on the schedule, and Jozelyn running our casino activity was completely hilarious. On the food side, Hidden Garden was the highlight of the trip — the wonton soup especially is not to be missed. MB was equally impressive, the kind of dinner that earns its reputation. Varenna and Azur were perfectly fine — solid, pretty, nothing that lingered. **The Not-So-Good** The suite hierarchy at Live Aqua runs from the top 1) Presidential Suite - 2) Fuego Suite - 3) Aqua Suite - 4) Tierra Suite according to the price points on their website. We'd booked a Tierra, and at check-in were offered the Fuego — two full tiers up — for $130/night more. That sounded like a deal, and we took it. Unfortunately, "Fuego" turned out to be very literal. The AC wouldn't drop below 75°F and felt even warmer than that. Fans were unavailable — all checked out, apparently AC issues were a recurring enough problem that the supply was exhausted. Despite the butler and maintenance both trying, it couldn't be fixed. The next day they moved us to the Aqua Suite (which we didn't know until our bags had been moved - we thought we were being moved to another Fuego Suite) — which was one tier above our original Tierra, but a step down from the Fuego we'd paid for. And not just a step down in suite category: we went from the top/9th floor to the 4th. To add a small but daily annoyance, the hotel's elevator layout means you have to know which elevator bank serves your floor — get on the wrong one and you simply can't get to your room. A minor thing in isolation, but when you're already frustrated about the room situation, navigating that multiple times a day wore thin. Rather than returning us to our original Tierra rate, they would only reduce the nightly premium to $100. We agreed, reluctantly. The Aqua Suite was comfortable enough, the balcony was lovely, and a fan helped considerably — but the fact that we were now paying a premium for a lower floor, lower tier room we hadn't chosen, made it hard to feel like we'd been made whole. It got worse at checkout. At 6:30 AM, trying to catch a flight, the negotiated rate reduction hadn't been entered into the system. No one had documented the promise. The desk resolved it and honored the agreement — to their credit — but working through a billing dispute while rushing out the door on the last morning of an anniversary trip is not the send-off you want. Write things down, Live Aqua. **Bottom Line** Live Aqua is a genuinely lovely resort with staff that can make or break a stay — and ours largely made it. The suite situation was a real frustration at a premium price point: we paid extra to move up two tiers, ended up one tier above our original room, and had to fight for the adjusted rate at 6:30 AM on departure day. Our honest advice — book the room you want, don't chase the upgrade, and if any promises are made about pricing, get them in writing at the desk before you walk away. We'd likely return, but we'd stay in our originally booked Tierra Suite without hesitation.

Amazing Vacation at Live Aqua!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Live Aqua is always a fantastic vacation for my husband and me. The location is perfect since it is directly across the street from the beautiful La Isla shopping mall. Live Aqua is relaxing and the sweet staff keep us returning year after year. Our butlers were Arturo and Viridiana and they were both very attentive to our needs from check in to check out. They checked in with us daily asking if there was anything we needed. They helped with airport transportation, meal reservations, cabanas and other details that made our trip flawless. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation and can’t wait to return to Live Aqua.

Vacay!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Just got back home from our 3rd stay at live aqua- cancun. It is our absolute favorite place to be! It is an amazing adults only relaxing vibe, most definitely not a party scene, but definitely somewhere you can relax and rest with a little entertainment activities throughout the day like bracelet making, bingo, water aerobics, painting, etc. The food is pretty good for an all inclusive, would definitely recommend the habenero soup at MB, hidden garden restaurant is another favorite, so flavorful. The thing that makes live aqua so special is the workers. They are so amazing and kind. They treat you like family, and are very attentive, accommodating and all the things. From the second you arrive you are greeted with excellent service up until the minute you leave. A few shoutouts are Abel - when you check in at the front. The bartenders are amazing!!!!! We love them just a few I can remember Jose, Manny, Sergio, Alejandro. They make the BEST drinks and can accommodate it to however you’d like it. My personal favorites were skinny margaritas and lemon drop martinis less sweet. They would rememeber exactly how I like it everytime I’d order one! Also, Marisol, one of the pool ladies that takes your drink or food order at your service as you relax at the pool is amazing. So sweet and tentative. Along with David, Johnathan & Usiel. The most amazing guys who are so easy to converse with. Freddy- used to be the live aqua lifeguard is now a bartender and is doing a great job so far! Was very happy to see him again! Ludin is an excellent waiter at Azur Santos greeted us daily at breakfast buffet as he refilled our drinks and made sure we had everything we needed. The omelette station is soooo goood!!! The Starbucks in the resort is so yummy. Mario was great at hidden garden. Caesar & Mario some of the head chefs is incredibly sweet and had his staff greet us and make sure we enjoyed our food! Ricky is an amazing entertainer for most of the daily activities. House keeping and the hostess are also so great and nice!!!! The list goes on and on! But we most definitely can’t wait for our 4th trip here soon! 💕

The BEST resort and staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This resort is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are well kept, the staff is amazing. My server,Armando at Siete, was amazing. So pleasant and attentive, He made me feel so welcome and at home. Edgar, the concierge was also amazing. He made sure that I knew all the details to my room, how to order room service, and how to contact him in case I had any issues. This is my second time to Live Aqua and I'm looking forward to many more visits in the future.
