Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun

We stayed at Live Aqua Cancun the second week of March 2026 for 8 nights. This was our 4th trip to the Cancun area, but our first time at Live Aqua. The location is fantastic — about a 20-minute ride from the airport, which makes arrival and departure incredibly easy. We spent 7 of our 8 nights in a Club Aqua Oceanfront Suite, and the room was absolutely wonderful. The view was stunning, and the room itself was quiet, comfortable, and well-appointed. Our location near the stairs down to the Club Aqua area was especially convenient. The standout of our trip was the staff. Our butler, Maggie, was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, she made everything seamless — handling dinner reservations, checking in on us, and even delivering popcorn with Valentina dipping sauce within 30 minutes when I mentioned a craving. When our flight home was unexpectedly canceled, Maggie quickly helped us secure an additional night at the resort, turning what could have been a stressful situation into a “bonus vacation day.” Truly above and beyond — I’d give her 10 stars if I could. We also want to highlight Guillermo, a bartender at Club Aqua, who made a fantastic Old Fashioned and was always fun to chat with. Omar, who we saw at multiple bars, was also excellent. Food was a bit hit or miss overall. MB restaurant was the standout — consistently excellent. The filet was perfectly done, the tuna dish was great, and the habanero soup absolutely lives up to the hype. (Note: reservations and a dress code are required and enforced.) The lunch BBQ was another highlight — especially the ribs and chicken. Outside of that, the food was generally just “good,” not amazing. If you’re a big foodie, this may not be the top choice. The breakfast buffet had a solid selection, and the Club Aqua lounge offerings (grab-and-go breakfast, snacks, and desserts) were consistently excellent. Having a Starbucks on-site was also a nice perk for mornings. We used the gym most mornings — it had everything we needed, though it could get busy at times. We always managed to find space. The location across from La Isla Shopping Village was another plus. It’s an open-air mall with a mix of high-end stores and more accessible brands like H&M, Aerie, and Adidas. It was a nice break from the pool and beach a couple of afternoons. Now for the biggest downside: the pool chair and daybed situation. Live Aqua allows chair saving, which made it frustrating. The nicer covered daybeds require an extra fee unless you’re in a higher suite tier, and Club Aqua access alone doesn’t include them. Guests were also reserving the limited non-paid daybeds early, making them hard to access. We found that unless you were at the pool by 8:00–8:30am, your best bet was to wait until around 1pm when people started leaving for lunch. We did manage to snag a daybed a couple of days, but only by getting up early and committing to staying there most of the day. The pools themselves are large and beautiful, with a spectacular ocean view from the infinity pool. However, there is essentially no shade, so keep that in mind if you prefer a mix of sun and cover. The beach had noticeable seaweed most days. Staff did their best to clear it with tractors multiple times daily, but it was still present in the water — not much the resort can do about that. We also enjoyed several of the activities, including Kahoot trivia, live Latin music/dancing, silent disco, and karaoke. The spaces were a bit awkwardly laid out, but the events were fun. One unexpected highlight was the wildlife. There were two large iguanas that frequently lounged by the waterfall, an osprey that even landed in the pool to bathe (incredible to watch), grackles throughout the property, and even a cat roaming around. One important note: our final night was in a standard garden view room, and it was significantly noisier — we could hear traffic throughout the night. If we had stayed in that room the entire trip and didn’t have Club Aqua access, our rating would likely have been closer to 2 stars. Overall: We had a great trip, largely thanks to the incredible staff. While it wasn’t quite as relaxing as our stay at Secrets Moxché last year, we would consider returning — especially because of the people who made the experience special.

Live Aqua Cancun is a beautiful resort with multiple pools and a great beach. There were many restaurant options with our favorites being MB and Varenna. Siete's breakfast buffet was top notch. Marco is one fabulous smoothie maker! Pool rules for reserving chairs are not enforced. We paid extra for a butler but did not find value in the service. Nightly room service was inconsistent and snacks were not always replenished. The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. There were many activities to choose from and all the activity staff were wonderful. Ricky, Marianna, Robbin and Pablo were great hosts. Everyone we met were repeat guests and someday we hope to be in that group.
