Reviews for Dreams Jade Resort & Spa

Okay hotel not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

Leaving today after 2 weeks of being at the hotel. Overall the hotel was okay but we wouldn’t stay here again. The overall cleanliness of the hotel is good however the pool is not, there is dirt and debris floating in the pool which was not cleaned the 2 weeks we have been here, that surprised us as cleaners and pool boys are constantly walking around the pool. On our last day, we placed towels and our bag on 2 seats to return after grabbing a coffee (less than 30 minutes) and our belongings had been moved, we had been sitting in the same seats for the full 2 weeks and have witnessed people reserve seats and not return for most of the day. I understand that rules are rules regarding pool side seat reservations however this rule had not been implemented for the whole time we have been here so they can’t just pick and choose when they want to enforce this rule. Please Please be careful when walking around the pool and the surrounding areas as it gets very very slippery and have witnesses a fair amount of people falling over and hurting themselves. Our room … very standard. It has a very nice size bed and we enjoyed the nice big bathroom and bath tub. However we got locked in the bathroom and it took them over 40 minutes for them to come help us and they didn’t even fix the lock, they just opened it and let us out which meant we couldn’t lock the bathroom door. Mini bar was okay, it wasn’t topped up everyday so we had to request drinks everyday which was annoying but just something we got over if it meant we could have some beverages. The fridge itself leaked all over the bottom and didn’t keep the drinks cold they were lukewarm at best. Cleaning staff were good but there just isn’t enough staff in general for the amount of people that are staying at the hotel. Our favourite restaurants were the Italian and the Mexican we went there the most and the staff in the restaurants were fabulous and very accommodating. We didn’t enjoy CinCin at all as the food was very very salty and they changed their menu (very different from the online menu). Spice was good some dishes were hit and miss as all you could taste was garlic, but the honey chicken was very good. We didn’t try the French restaurant. Breakfast buffet was small massive lines for crepes and omelets, again just falls into the category of not having enough staff. Castaways was good we really enjoyed the food we had there however it says it opens at 12:30pm so people turn up at 12:30pm but the restaurant is full by that time as they let people in at 12pm. The entertainment staff were amazing and we enjoyed playing volleyball everyday. The evening arts and crafts sessions were very good and we enjoyed them however there was an issue with people saving seats meaning that others couldn’t join in which wasn’t fair, personally the group either needs to be bigger or you should be able to book to avoid disappointment

3rd visit!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Just visited Dreams Jade for the 3rd time. This trip was a graduation trip for my daughter. We stayed in a preferred club Oceanview room, and everything was great. Food was fantastic as per previous visits, never had to wait for a restaurant. Service was the highlight of our trip, with a few people standing out. Angel and Adilia at the preferred club pool were absolutely amazing- I don't think we have ever had service this great! Ivan the new pool concierge at the preferred pool was great as well, very friendly making us feel right at home. We will be back :)

Great Family Visit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

My wife, my young daughter (almost 2) and I stayed between 20th June and 4th July and had an amazing time here. Some pros and some cons, but overall a lovely resort and would return. Pros: - Amazing staff (mostly), particularly with our daughter, who everybody seemed to fall in love with! Shout outs in particular to Miguel at the Teppinyaki, Victoria around the pool, Liliana and Angelica at the entertainment bar, Leo in the Buffet restaurant. - Quick to sort out an issue with a broken mirror in our room. Thanks to Carlos on Concierge for that. - We found the quality of the food to be very good at every restaurant, albeit sometimes a bit salty. Capers Italian, Spice Asian and the buffet were all very good. Castaway for lunch was great too. Wide variety in the Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was great. - Wide variety of drinks and cocktails, top shelf spirits available when asked too. Bartenders all whipped up cocktails at request. - Resort grounds kept immaculately. - Spa was beautiful, wife enjoyed her massage. - Live music and Circus entertainment were very good. - Ice cream in the coffee shop was superb. - Quiet room at the back of building 2, third floor. No noise heard from the pools where the music and entertainment was. Meant our little one could sleep soundly. - Bed extremely comfortable. We don't want to go back to ours! Cons: - Bell-man was incredibly rude to my wife. We had an issue checking in where our travel agent hadn't passed on our reservation to the hotel, took a while to sort, and then took an hour for our luggage to arrive. We'd made it clear our daughter needed to bathe, and we needed to change after a 10 hour flight. He spoke to my wife badly and told us to shower the baby instead. - Minibar was filled seemingly at random rather than daily and with random selections rather than consistent. This could be solved by requesting things through the app, but you'd then have to wait for delivery. - Room service delivery took quite a while, usually 45 mins to an hour. - Temperature in the shower kept changing at random. - This is a preference rather than a con, but we found the pools being heated overkill given the sun would heat them on top. You'd have to walk to each pool to find the coolest one to cool off. We like them colder to refresh after laying in the sun! No point complaining about the beach/sargassum issue on the review, Mother Nature isn't the resort's fault, but the staff do work tirelessly to remove it and make the beach usable even if you can't swim in the ocean. Overall a lovely stay, made better by the majority of the staff being friendly and welcoming and some great friends we met on our trip.

Consistently Inconsistent

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed here for 2 weeks from June 2nd. I wanted a few weeks back home before writing this review to truly reflect on our experience. I was excited for our trip and both the great reviews and bad reviews were very helpful in knowing what to expect so I hope this review helps others. What I would say is having attended for 2 weeks we really saw the whole resort and the conflicting reviews made sense as time went on. It is very thorough and hopefully quite balanced and informative. Overall we had a 4 star trip and a lovely time. Sadly just due to the hotel falling short and the inconsistencies we wouldn’t return. Pros: We had a 4* trip overall The staff were so great with our 4 year old and made him feel so special throughout our stay. So many staff members would stop to say hi or give him high fives. Resort is small enough to feel accessible but large enough for plenty to do and experience Great 24/7 food offering- will not go hungry Generally great pool bar waiter service Do have some excellent food Wifi was great App very good and helpful to keep you in holiday/vacation mode when things need attending to (saving the need to go to front desk/concierge) Kids club staff were lovely and made my son feel welcome even though he was one of the youngest at the lowest age 3, spoke great english too which reassured him when kids club had a lot of spanish-only speakers Cons: Resort looked a little tired in areas and lacked quality finishes with things looking incomplete or high design alongside tape covered in plaster for a cheap finish Clearing either side of the beach of seaweed but leaving the middle less cleared allowing it to start breaking down and causing a bad rotten egg stench which would sporadically blow towards the resort by the end of our trip (beware anyone coming to get married here!) Preferred pool and main pool can be used for wedding receptions which can mean loud music/microphones and screaming directly outside rooms until 11pm. I do not understand why they sell these areas for receptions when they have other great spots and especially when people have paid for a premium service (preferred). Room issues: given wrong room on arrival, room moved to not fully ready, bed very squeaky until tightened up, leak under sink, air con freezing in bedroom and too warm in living area (gave up trying to get it looked at after 4th attempt). Consistently inconsistent!!- - Menu often did not fully match what was presented -Same meal served multiple times over the trip presented completely differently with different accompaniments and could be excellent or awful -Service varied from outstanding to careless. Many food staff do not speak good English. Key takeaways: We found no issue with sunbeds. Occasionally had to start without a shade but often one would become free after an hour or so. Resort busyness varied heavily monday one week very quiet, every sunbed filled by midday the next week with a more party vibe. A lot of mexicans go to the resort so did not have the same feel other resorts we’ve stayed at. Majority of people do not seem to tip. Staff are not grateful or offer enhanced service when tipped. Better off tipping when you’ve had great service. Pool waiters were usually the only exception. Watch for- e numbers in foods for kids if kids aren’t used to them. We are from the UK and food colours were very different. Our son was very sensitive to all their coloured sweets and desserts etc. Restaurant Ratings: Italian- awful Cincin- great (menu didn’t match app) Mercure- great Spice- ok/good Tamarindo- great Buffet breakfast- great (sometimes long waits for egg station) Buffet lunch- great Buffet dinner- ok Castaways- ok Barefoot cafe- great Cococafe- good Preferred breakfast- good (though can be long waits or menu variations without warning if later in the morning)
