This is my fourth time coming to Cancun and this time my family of 13 and I came to the Paradisus for vacation. Upon arrive we were impressed by the facility and all the amenities, however this would gradually change everyday. First of all the front desk explained that everyday you must reserve dinner for the next day starting at 7am, which is not the case because I woke up every morning at 7 and somehow they could not accommodate us at the time requested or our first choice of restaurant. Which as you might imagine is frustrating when you are trying to relax on your vacation. Then they offer you to go to the buffet because there is no reservation required. After our first night the front desk tried to contact us but we were not in the rooms, so they deactivated our cards so can go to the front desk. There we were informed that the front desk clerk could not do math and charged us the incorrect amount and we owed an additional $300, which is extremely petty considering we paid $12,000 when we checked in. First day we went to the pool after breakfast at their buffet restaurant, Naos, we then ventured to the pool where we were denied alcoholic drinks because the bar was not set up yet. The staff was kind enough to offer beer and any non-alcoholic drinks. Then when they finally started serving the drinks are water down and flavorless. Then the pool staff tried to play some music but the sound system wasn't working and neither was the DJ booth so they gave up and performed without any music. The next day we wanted to do an activity so myself and 4 of my family members wanted to try the 9 hole golf course on the resort. The starter is located in the resorts convenience store, which you would never know unless you ask a staff member. Then it will take you about 15 minutes to locate because the building is very confusing and the staff inside barely speak English. Then we get our rental clubs which we're a 20+ year old set with a mix of lefty and righty clubs without telling you, and we were all righties. They also charge $4 per ball for a used golf ball. Then we carelessly meandered around the hotel grounds trying to figure out where the first hole was and we asked several staff on the way and no one offered to help, they all just told us the course was outside. The next day several of us went to the resorts YHI spa, where we were told they don't have some of the services that are listed on their website and brochure because they are discontinued. Those who stayed did enjoy the massage provided but it was pricey $175 for a hour. Then at dinner later that night, we were 20 minutes late and the hostess would not sit us because they only hold the table for 15 minutes. And she would not let us explain that we had a family member who got ill and that delayed us. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the staff. Basically anyone who we have tip to prior completing their service was excellent and vice-versa. But there are a couple of outliers that did an excellent job. All in all, avoid this resort if you can because it is not what it seems. This establishment is the true definition of do not judge a book by its cover. My previous stays at the RUI and the RUI palace were much more enjoyable because you knew what you were going to get. Good luck travelers!

My husband, our two kids (ages 4 &1), and I will be leaving for home tomorrow morning after an amazing 8 night stay at Paradisus Cancun. The resort is beautiful, the room is comfortable, the amenities are awesome, the views breathtaking, but most importantly, the service is top notch. The staff goes out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. Everyone from servers and concierge to grounds crew greets you with a smile and everyone is kind. I want to give a few shout-out to some particular staff members...Sergio Gonzalez (ME Server by the pools) went out of his way to help us out and get to know us. He is friendly, down to Earth, and patient. David, Veronica, and Didier served us in the cabanas and couldn't have done a better job of making us feel comfortable and special. The Naos waiters Richard (who took the time to teach me about guava and dragonfruit) and Guacencio (who is awesome with babies) made breakfast and lunch a delight. Our Bana waitress (Veronica) was gracious and accommodating to my kids. Melvin at Market Grill, Daniel and Johnny at Mole, Raul the doorman, and Christina the concierge, and Leonardo the bellhop were also awesome. Couldn't have asked for better with these fine people. Loved the pools. The food was great (and I'm picky). Drinks were good. The water and ice were purified and not a problem at all. The resort is beautiful...amazing decor! Plenty of photo opps. There are a few pit falls. The golf course was mosquito ridden, way too wet, not layed out right, and the heat made it unbearable. The course is free to play but club rentals are $42 US dollars and the clubs are old and you pay $12 for 3 balls which are used. We found a few roaches in the room. I did call a few times to have things brought to the room (extra cups, washcloths, etc) only to have them not show up, yet other times we called and people showed up immediately. The marble floors are gorgeous but my cheapy flip flops got slippery at times. There is a private photography place inside the hotel. The pictures were mediocre at best and priced was too much. We did not purchase. Overall great experience. The staff makes it worth every cent. They take pride in all aspects of the resort. Everything is kept clean, smelling fresh, and looking great! Totally recommend!
