We are at Sandos Cancun and have been since Feb 1, 2026. We are here for 2 weeks. Excellent resort and food. When we got here there were several cabanas by the pool that required a $50 U.S. payment to use ( you got a bottle of champagne with the reservation). We were very disappointed in this as this is supposed to be an all inclusive resort. Happily they seem to have recinded this policy today. Congradulations to whichever management team member decided to recind this ridiculous policy. No one was using these cabanas anyways. Now some guests can utilize them. Again we like the resort very much. We were just blown away with this ridiculous set up that wasted valuable guest space in exchange for a few hundred dollars in revenue, when space is so crucial for the overall experience. Pros - -the beaches are beautiful. Soft sand & crystal clear water. Most rooms have a view of the coastline. -the food is good. They include a signature beverage each night right on the buffet & the food is more “authentic” and intentional than other resorts - however it isn’t a million options, just enough. 24 hour room service (which tastes good but serviced cold). -drinks aren’t bad. I was actually impressed with their dried fruit garnish. Canned beer available. No liquor in room, just beer & soda/water. -the staff are hit & miss. -there’s no towel cards or room keys. Wrist band is all you need. -convenience stores are right across the street Cons - the things no one else is saying.. -there are reserved things for “elite members only” aka timeshare holders including beach/pool chairs, one of the restaurants & even “top shelf liquor”. -there’s definitely not enough lounge chairs by the pools/beach for even a fraction of the guests (the early birds will scoop them up before 8am. & the one pool that gets sun/action has ALL reserved seating where you must 1) buy a bottle or 2). Be an elite member) -the pools lose ALL sun by 4pm due to the giant building next door -there’s no swim up bar -poolside entertainment can be cool, but usually only lasts 30-60 min. -we got what seemed like the only room with a giant led light panel shining into our window - like, why?! -the spa/hot tub/steam room are separated men & women, reservation only & many people said we not even hot. -the entertainment doesn’t start til 9pm & there is nothing to do after 4pm (when the sun is gone in the pool) so the day gets boring. -entertainment is LOUD & exposed/outdoors so cool/windy weather makes it unenjoyable. -there are only 3 bars & the earliest one to open is the buffet bar (personally this felt odd, like you should be going in to eat vs just grabbing a drink to go) -we wasted many hours dealing with the front desk staff (timeshare programs, booking excursions, arranging transport to airport, etc) -lobby bar is boring as can be. No one around until dinner hour, ever! They have a grand piano that no one ever plays. Ugh.. I feel like I could go on & on. Oh - demographic is 55+.
