Let me start by saying how friendly the staff is. Everyone is so cordial and quick to say "hola" and offer assistance. That is not the case with the employees at the main check-in desk. I found the check-in staff to be very difficult to work with once you have checked into the hotel. We received our "check out early letter", the night before we left stating that we could avoid lines if we paid our bill (massage costs). We stopped by on our way back to the room last night to settle the bill and did not have our passport with us so we went to the room and my husband promptly returned to the desk and was told that he would have to wait until after shift change which would be about a 30 minute wait?? Our daughter and friend were staying in another room and when they tried to check out early, they were told they would have to wait until in the morning. Seems like the letter was a waste of paper. Also, we were unable to get money changed there and told to fine a bellman or waiter that could possibly use their tip money to change our bills. The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We loved watching the Lemurs everyday as they prowled around the surroundings of the facility. We saw many different types of animals during our stay and found that to be exciting. The rooms were nice and fairly well maintained. We had a few glitches with a stopped up shower drain and a broken safe, but when we called guest services, they were there to repair the issues within 30 minutes which is unheard of in most hotels. We had requested 1 room with a king bed and 1 room with 2 double beds that were close to each other. This request was made through the travel company we booked through 7 months ago, as well as through a phone call I placed to the hotel approx. a week prior to our travel. Both assured me that could be arranged. Unfortunately when we arrived at the check-in desk, we were told that the rooms were on 2 different floors. After much discussion, we were assigned rooms that were close together. That being said, the rooms were located at the very back building in the adult section. The furthest away from the beach and activities. There is a golf cart used to transport guests to the beach area, but it is quite a long wait because there is only one that is used to shuttle passengers back and forth to the activity center. Therefore, we found that if we were going out, we needed to bring everything with us to keep from having to walk back and forth which was about a 30 minute walk. Must say the wifi in the room was terrible. The food was good and the restaurants were nice. The spa was amazing! Not sure yet if we will return to this hotel, or try a different one mainly because of the distance of the room to the beach area, but we did have a nice time and love Playa del Carmen. Just want to remind everyone who reads this that the wait staff, maids, bartenders, etc... probably don't make a exhorbitant amount of money, so I'm sure tipping is appreciated. Good service definately deserves recognition!

Recently traveled to Sandos Cancun Luxury Resort with two of my best friends for a quick mini vacation. We had an awesome time! Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Ulises, our butler. He checked in with us daily at least 2 times and even surprised us on the beach with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries - yum. He was wonderful - thanks for making our stay relaxing! The restaurants were also great - good portion sizes and delicious - our favorite was the Japanese restaurant with Gustavo as our chef. The spa is great place to relax - Consuelo was very attentive and made our visit very relaxing - highly recommend her. Overall this was a great place to visit and well worth the investment - can't wait to return! We came back feeling rejuvenated and ready to get back to our daily lives.

Just got back from a 4 day girls trip with 4 friends and we had the best time! My friend is a Sando's Club member so we got the full treatment! Amazing suite with a direct ocean view, food was great and EXCELLENT friendly service. Ulises was the BEST! He really made our stay special! The entertainment staff was excellent too, especially Arturo, who made good recommendations on the best places to go and helped us plan our nights out in Cancun! All entertainment/activities end by 11pm, so if you want to go dancing or want to stay out past 11, you really need to go downtown. We were a little nervous about going downtown on our own, but the hotel can arrange transportation and entrance to certain clubs with the VIP treatment, which was awesome! During the day the hotel had activities by the pool, such as a foam party, cooking demonstrations and water aerobics. Liz was awesome as one of the water aerobics instructors!!!!! Overall, one of the best vacations I had and I can't wait to go back!

We had a great stay at this resort. We are members of a Sando's Club and it helped. We got preferential treatment, but it was minor - different color wristband - priority seating at restaurants, discounts at spa and full access, different reception, private lounge for members. Only 249 rooms meant it was not too busy. Close to the hotel. It was more adult orientated. Place seemed to close down at 11pm. Disco was open and there is room service. Most staff spoke amazing English and were happy and helpful. Rooms were clean, quiet and had a good view. The pools were clean and great to be in. Great assortment of beach beds, cabanas and fantastic beach! Nice blue water. Walk along the beach - resort, after resort after resort. But hey, it's Cancun. Really great restaurants buffet and a la carte. Good gym (better for aerobics, not bad for weights) , good yoga class! We have fantastic weather - and no mosquitoes - from the breeze off the ocean all the time? It's in the hotel zone - plenty of stores and buses. You will pay more, but if you came to Mexico for American style malls, you won't be disappointed. Yes, I would go back, and stay a bit longer.
