If you have a car and planing on parking at the hotel think twice before booking this property. This hotel offers valet parking only and its a pain to get your car when you need it. Well, let me start from the beginning. Check in process is very long, even if you are in privilege club(they have separate check in office) it still very long and boring process. If you get lucky and get a resort credit DO NOT get excited. Resort credit really gives you nothing (we didn't get to use ours). Every morning they have spa deals. Prices are ridiculous. Promos are not combinable. Honestly, you can get 3 massages at the regular spa for the prices that Secrets offering. Beach: very rocky and lots of seaweed. I am a beach person and I spent the entire vacation by the pool. Yes, beach is a disappointment. However, pools are very nice. There are plenty of them: few quite ones, one with the pool bar and one infinity pool.. Restaurants are very good too(my fav was French). Food and drinks are amazing. Rooms are nice but room service not so much. We had some desserts in the room and plates with strawberry stems weren't taken for days. Toiletries and snacks were not restocked. (We left generous tip and that didn't help) Now the fun part - PARKING. there is a smallest parking you can only imagine - 3 small rows, located right by the main entrance. We needed our car about 3 times. Every time our car was in the 3rd row so it was like watching a bumper cars game. 1st time no one was in the lobby. We had to wait for a concierge to get our car keys. 2nd time, we were waiting for a long time to drop the car and leave our car keys. 3rd time, when we checked out I wanted to leave our luggage in the car and get some lunch at the buffet before we head to the airport. Bell boy was telling us to leave the luggage at the lobby. I was constantly repeating to him, that we have a car and we would prefer leaving our belongings at the car. He was actually giving me lots of attitude. We had our check out slip, we payed for everything, front desk told us that we can stay for lunch, I honestly have no idea why we couldn't leave our baggage in the OUR car. Fine, if you don't want to bring the car just give me the keys. After arguing with multiple people(concierge, bell boy and valet person) I got my car keys and dragged my bags to the car. When I was half way there finally bell boy offered help. He was very offended when I didn't tip him. Well, I am sorry, but I am not going to leave tips if you roll your eyes and raise your voice. Tips - be prepared, staff at Secrets is very money hungry. It almost seems like they would not serve you if you don't tip them. I understand, they probably very spoiled. We tried to tip everyone, but always felt like we are not giving enough. That being said there was one person - a young chef from Himitsu restaurant, he said that he was new. We felt like he was going out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our dinner. Overall we still enjoyed our vacation. Would I ever come back - definitely no.

My husband and I stayed in a 4th floor ocean view room. The room really needs updating, it's certainly showing it's age. But it was clean and quiet with a wonderful balcony we could spend our mornings or evenings hanging out. The service was really good here. We had just come from a week at Playa Mujeres, where the rooms were newer but not as large. SSS is well situated to visit the Eco parks in the area, but the beach isn't really good for snorkeling. They cleaned the beach every day to get rid of seaweed. We usually stayed in the Preferred guest area of the beach and I have no complaints about the service there. Food was good, we enjoyed the a la cart restaurants and no wrist band policy. The buffet in the morning was nice, there is something for everybody. They have a smoothie station where you can have custom smoothies made. I suggest taking your own Yeti cup or something comparable. They'll fill it up for you. We only went on 1 excursion to Xel-Ha. I highly recommend you go to one of the Eco Parks, it's worth the price of admission. But please remember to take biodegradable sunscreen with you to protect the reefs. There is a vendor market that comes once a week in the evening and sets up their wares. You can barter with them, but they're not always the best price. All in all I'd certainly go back. Take $1 bills for tips. You don't have to tip, but it's always appreciated. They work long hours and anybody who cleans up after me is a hero in my book.

Just returned from 4 nights, we stayed along with 15 family members and friends for my nieces wedding. Her coordinator Marine was so accommodating to her, her every wish was granted. The flowers, the venue everything was beautiful! Thanks Marine! Our room was in the preferred section oceanfront, was gorgeous! Nice and clean and cool. The daily service was wonderful, from coffee every morning delivered to my room to maid service, not a bad thing to say. The beach was small and very rocky but I'm a pool person anyway. They do a great job getting rid of the seaweed. We had no bugs no smells was absolutely wonderful! And the one person who stood out this whole trip was Kendar the pool drink server. He remembered everyone's name and couldn't have been more attentive. He definitely works hard in that heat, and is a wonderful person. Would I come back? Most definitely!

The room was fantastic. It was cleaned every day. The grounds are beautiful. We had no problems with bugs or itchy grass. The best part about this place, however, is the staff. By far some of the hardest working people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Anna, Estephany, Emmanuel, and Jaziel from the entertainment team made us feel welcome and included in every event they had planned. If you get the opportunity to grab a seat in Mayra's, another member of the entertainment team, spin class definitely take it. The evening bartenders in the lobby bar, Brenis and Alexis, and in the main bar, Alex and Daniel, were always friendly and made sitting at the bar an event in itself. The wait staff overall was incredible but consider yourself extra lucky if you get served by Jazmin at the main bar and Mercedes at the pool bar. Those ladies remembered our drink orders every day and never let our cups get empty. The restaurant and kitchen staff was also awesome. When you go to Ratatouille, ask to sit with Abraham. He was professional, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about every dish that was served. 2 of the best events during out stay were the kitchen tour and the wine tasting. Definitely take them if you can! Daniel, the sommelier, was great and made everyone feel like a "fancy wine drinker" and Ramiro, the kitchen manager who gave the tour, was hilarious and made learning about the ins and outs of the kitchen a blast. If you ever need any help Sandra at the front desk was professional and helpful. Also, the Snorkling Adventure tour of the barrier reef is just a short walk along the beach from this place. Secret Silversands is really the whole package and we will be returning as soon as we can!

Loved, loved loved it! First time to Mexico, and we chose Secrets Silversands from an Apple vacation book and browsing through some reviews and YouTube videos and we were not disappointed. Arrived with my husband for a 5 night stay, (would stay for 6 next time) room was fantastic, upgraded to a swim out and it was well worth it in my opinion. Food was great, service was fantastic, huge shout out to the entertainment staff of Carlos, Omar and all the rest, Esther was our waitress by the pool and she was the best. My husband has decided and is already planning our next stay at SS in November and we both can't wait to return. We honestly don't have one bad thing to say about this fantastic resort, we met a couple that has been coming back for the past 8 years and even gets the same room each year so looks like we may be joining their club, see you again soon SS!!
