I couldn't find where you could ask questions, so here goes : Have read the hotel is non smoking throughout - is this true ? I only ask as I myself are a smoker and just wondered if there were any specified areas that you could ?

My husband and I were here from 29/12 for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We had upgraded to Preferred Club and on arrival the hotel we were greeted with a cold flannel and whisked to the 21st floor to check in with a glass of fizz. This was the PC lounge which you could use at all times for snacks and drinks. The main barman was great by the way (sorry cant remember your name). Our room was on the 27th floor and was HUGE! Our concierge asked what we drank in the mornings and if we wanted a kettle for the room (I said tea) which dutifully arrived. I also asked for a load more hangers and within 30 mins they had bought about 15 more! We unpacked and then explored. The system of not booking restaurants works. We have been to other AI and some people prebook 2/3 restaurants and then dont turn up. Here its first come first served - which works. Over NY it was busy but we never really had to wait other than our last night when a big conference was in. They have an app which is there is a small wait they will message you on. The service and the smiles of all the staff were on the whole amazing. We had a bit of an issue our first night in the Peruvian as it took the host about 5 mins to come over and acknowledge us but our waiter was great and the food was lovely. You need a torch in the Asian as its very dark (could be my age). Yes, if you want sunbeds you have to get up early to reserve them however, certainly around the PC pool if you werent on your sunbed by 10.30am the concierge would remove your belongings if others wanted your bed - perfect. We actually saw Benji do this as well not just an idle threat. The 2 staff that really stand out for us were iBeth - waitress mainly around the PC pool who was engaging and friendly. She really was lovely. As was Abigail in the buffet restaurant. Infact all of the hostess's in the buffet were lovely and asked for a photo of us with them at the end of our stay. We did venture out - its safe to walk out of the hotel. One morning we came out of the hotel turned left and then right on the main road and just walked to see what restaurants were around. We visited IKSOS - greek restaurant for dinner one night which was AMAZING. We would thoroughly recommend it as the ambience, service and food were exceptional - we arrived to see sunset over the lagoon. We also got an Uber to the ferry to Isla Mujeres and made our own way over. Its a bit hectic when you get off trying to hire a golf cart. My advice would be to turn left out of the ferry port and walk away from the main square. Also dont accept the first price - we were quoted 250 US dollars for 5 hours but walked away and went elsewhere and got for I think 150 dollars. the island isnt big and once you get out of the main street its great to tour around. We stopped at a cafe/bar on the way to the south and hada drink and loo stop. We didn't stop at he southerly most point as it was chaos. We then headed to Guru beach club we had found online on the northern edge of the island. It sold Barefoot Pinot (white wine in hotel I found to be awful) which I loved and had a great DJ. We also got a free 5/6 min massage. We did have to wait for the ferry on the way back as had just missed ours as so busy! Check the timetables. We also got an uber to the Las Islas shopping mall just to get out - ended up in a lovely Japanese restaurant called Ryoshi - great service and got to see the chef making sushi right next to us. We also booked a 2 hour speedboat tour over the lagoon with snorkelling. We didnt want to do a full day tour and be with hundreds of others. They pick up from your hotel but we walked to Jungle Tours as they were right opposite the next door but one other to us. Only 4 boats + the guide at 9am. Quick lesson and safety briefing and then out via speed via the lagoon and mangroves. Be warned I would say the snorkelling isnt for beginners although its not overly deep. Our guide was amazing as my husbands wedding ring came off as he got in the sea and our guide found it. He also helped me when I had a bit of a panic attack. You dont have to snorkel by the way. Take water -they provide you with mask, fins and snorkel if you need it. The hotel do occasionally come round and ask if you want to book restaurants (by paying for different premium wines) but if you say no thanks or you are going out they leave you alone. All in all I would recommend.

Excellent resort and service. We stayed 4 nights as a couple in a preferred ocean view jr suite. Our concierge Hector was exceptional! He went out of his way to ensure check in and checkout were seamless and smooth. Cocktails by Jesus in the 21st floor lounge were delicious and again he went out of his way to track down ingredients for my hubby's favourite drink. Enjoyed our time and will be back!!
