Well firstly apologies to STV of this long overdue review from our honeymoon/birthday September 2016..... This hotel is simply stunning! It does feel more like a high end corporate hotel rather than a resort. It's beautiful clean and the staff are excellent. We arrived to celebrate our wedding and my big birthday! We had booked a honeymoon suite which was simply gorgeous.. The only niggle was the corridor noise of doors slamming and people talking which due to the building materials is very loud... I must firstly mention that we started off on a sour note when we were treated quite badly by a young beach server we are a same sex couple and felt quite uncomfortable it must be said I so not wish to go over what happened but as soon as I complained to a manager OTTO we had a private meeting with the GM and everything changed in an amazing way!!!!! We were upgraded to a master suite which was huge and simply stunning! My birthday was all sorted for me by way of a meeting with the sommelier and head chef who took care of everything we wished for this was a beautiful touch. Gustavo who was in charge of the beach was fantastic and treated everyone really well what a great asset to Secrets!! Ivan and Karla on the beach were amazing and spoilt us rotten❤️. Food on beach was great as were the drinks. Jemima our floor butler was the nicest person at Secrets she greeted us with a smile and assisted us with birthday arrangements and a Dr when needed she could not do enough for us The restaurants are all great we had no issues with the food apart from our second trip to the Asian was awful ( service and cold food) The preferred pool was quiet and pure luxury The pool areas are great but the tiles could have done with a jet wash as they were dirty. The beach is the best I have seen in Cancun the water was unreal. How ever when it gets busy it feels quite uncomfortable and as the hotel has a small footprint this us unavoidable ( there was a hairdressers convention meaning the hotel was full out busy) Air con was great everywhere Breakfast buffet was fantastic Coffee Shop girls are super friendly Thank you to Ivan on the beach Alberto pool guy waiter Norberto pool waiter Teresa pool waiter Jorge waiter at Nebulio Jorge beach waiter You guys made our holiday unforgettable ❤️❤️❤️❤️ We saw baby turtles being released on 3 occasions and our evening beach walks allowed us to witness the large turtles laying eggs this was a dream come true I cannot recommend this Hotel enough!!!! You will enjoy every minute we stayed 2 weeks and was not bored for 1 minute I really cannot pick fault at all Despite our rocky start the manager turned it around completely so much so that we recommend this hotel to all our friends. Sadly we couldn't return this year as prices shot up high but we have decided to stay with the Secrets chain and are staying this September at Secrets Akumal. A huge thank you to the OTTO who arranged my birthday on the beach with the most amazing service and food and my very own Mariachi band 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 This Hotel is simply heaven on earth!

Great place for a bit more active Cancun vacations: Great entertainment team. A good place to go with friends. I've been before to Playa del Carmen where hotels are not as tall, and with more greenery, but maybe too quiet and too honeymoon oriented. Secrets the Vine is not boring. I saw comments complaining about the food and lack of fish, this is not true: the food was very good with plenty of choices, including plenty of fish. I went on an excursion to see the whale sharks, that was awesome! One suggestion: I would prefer a swim-up bar. But not a big deal as plenty of waiters to bring you the drinks to the side of the pool.

Spent our holiday at secrets the vine from july 15 to july 22. Amazing resort on the beach of cancun. Room was modern, kept clean. Our room was 1811 and a side view of the ocean, the bay behind and the ground level pools and the one on the 12th floor. Building is about 4 yrs old, modern, sparkless. Staff are amazing and they really want that your stay is to be remembered. With the service, food, drinks etc I do not understand why people don't tip much. Every meal we had we left a tip, which was well deserved. Breakfast buffet had a lots to choose from, pastries, cold cuts, cereals, fruits, omelette station, various hot dishes. I had lots of fruits (pineapple, mangos, strawberry (few times during the week), smoked salmon, etc. For lunch, we had the pleasure of having one lunch at olio's and had salmon tartare and red tuna tataki. We had then most of our lunches at the buffet and the peruvian restaurant. We enjoy raw fish and were in paradise, ceviches of different kind, etc. Diner we went twice at the steak house and 3 times at dragon, peruvian restaurant and the mexican fiesta. Steak house was good but was expecting I could have a langouste, but was wrong. Other 5 stars I had langoust but not here. Heard you needed to pay to have one for the beach dinner. Our best was definitely at the dragon. We enjoyed the sushis, makis, rolls, and more so, the sashimis (red tuna and salmon). Service was awesome. Special thanks to the many waiters, specially Juan and others, manager juan carlos. Drank lots of porto wine which I enjoyed. Drinks at the bars were really good. A few points for management if they want to take notes: Breakfast: we eat a lot of fruits and enjoyed when they had mangos and strawberries (about 3 times). Also, we would have also enjoyed bananas which they did not have all week. Strange as other resorts even in cuba have bananas Steakhouse: would have been nice to have surf and turf on the menu but did not have any langoust. Again, other resorts that we went had langoust even in cuba Purchasing of wine and liquor: at the a la carte restaurant, they offer that you upgrade to a better bottle of wine. Prices though are really expensive and they make lots of profits on those bottles. At the bar i was tempted to buy a bottle of 1921 (similar to baileys but made from tequila), it was $80US and was on special at $60US. Saw the same bottle in playa del carmen for $23US and bought one at the airport for $19US. Imagine buying it on special for $60US. They should sell all their wine and liquor with less than 10% profit as when you drink your own they save money. They should be smart enough to see that. Not a lot of people spend that coin in a all inclusive House wine is average at best. Perhaps they should have more than 2 picks Been to riu palace, royal playa del carmen, royal hideway, hyatt zilara. Secrets is really comparable. Our 2 bests were the royal hideway and secrets as we enjoy great eating

My wife and I stayed at this hotel, Preferred level, our butlers were Laura and Ceasar. From the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we left, we had a unforgettable experience. The food was great, we tried all the sit down restaurants. Laura and Ceasar went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They even designed our room for our anniversary and my wifes birthday. I am already planning on returning to this hotel. Thank you for the unforgettable experience.

The food was wonderful, especially the Nebbiolo restaurant. Our server Bryant was a great waiter. The market cafe served a wonderful breakfast and we enjoyed service my Marcelo y Alberto Cruz. Preferred club is recommended for additional service by Orlando and Manuel in this club on the 21st floor. This is our 4th stay at a Secrets Resort and am looking forward to our fifth!
