Secrets The Vine Cancun: Luxury Marketing, Mediocre Reality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

Within the first hour of arriving at Secrets The Vine Cancun, we were already questioning whether we had made a mistake. The resort makes a great first impression. You’re greeted with a cold towel and offered champagne after you walk up a long flight of stairs. Unfortunately, the champagne was barely a sip, and that pretty much set the tone for the experience—lots of presentation, not much substance. Things went downhill at the Preferred Club check-in on the 21st floor. The representative rushed through the process so quickly that we left with no understanding of our benefits, amenities, dining options, or even what we were signing. For a supposedly elevated experience, there was nothing welcoming or informative about it. The Preferred Club lounge was equally if not more disappointing. The food and snacks sitting out were cold, and the bartender seemed completely uninterested in guests. No smile. No friendliness. No effort to make anyone feel welcome. We tipped out of habit, but the service certainly didn’t warrant it. The room is clean and modern, but much smaller than expected. The “premium” snacks amounted to a pack of M&M’s, a pack of Pringles, and bottled water in the refrigerator. Hardly impressive. If you’re expecting privacy, don’t. The balconies are so close together you can practically have a conversation with your neighbors without raising your voice. Any expectation of a romantic or secluded atmosphere disappears the moment you step outside. The biggest disappointment, however, was the room view. Unless you’re paying for a honeymoon suite or one of the higher-end suites, don’t expect what most people would consider an oceanfront experience. You’ll be looking at parts of the neighboring hotels with a partial view of the ocean in the distance. When we expressed concerns, our representative essentially told us that taking the issue to management would likely result in the same response they always give: “If you can see the ocean, it’s an ocean-view room.” Whether that’s technically true or not, it speaks volumes when staff already know the answer before the conversation even happens. It felt less like customer service and more like a rehearsed dismissal. To his credit, our assigned representative Ivan was pleasant and professional. He seemed genuinely willing to help, but also appeared limited in what he could actually do. More than an hour after arrival, we were still waiting for our luggage and still had no resolution to our concerns. At that point, it became clear that the resort’s definition of luxury and ours were very different. Secrets The Vine sells an image of upscale exclusivity, premium service, and attention to detail. Our first impression has been rushed check-in, poor communication, indifferent service, underwhelming amenities, lack of privacy, and an overall feeling that guest concerns are something to be managed rather than resolved. For the price point and reputation, we expected far better. So far, the experience has felt more like a lesson in marketing than hospitality. What really is preferred club?? I don’t know .. not here ..

Try Secrets you will love it

Just spent eight nights at secrets had a wonderful time. We paid extra for the club which in our opinion was worth it. We had breakfast and lunch there Rosa and Jeovani, what amazing service couldn’t do enough and the maître de Oliver was the same way. couldn’t do enough for everybody and his staff. Food was very nice, knew our order as soon as we sat down. My favorite restaurant was the Italian the manager there Michelle cater to everybody’ whims she couldn’t do enough she was amazing,I was so impressed. We had to go back a few times, also at the Italian, we had Rigo as a waiter very informative, we asked for him on our next visit Not forgetting Marcial the waiter, look for him always got a smile on his face .We love the hotel and the staff so much we’ve just booked for September to go back there, our 5th time in 15 months.

Some staff was very friendly while others seemed bothered when asked for help. Pool volleyball was very fun but then they took down the net and we could t interact with other guests that wanted to keep playing.

A Trip I’ll Never Forget

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I had an amazing experience. The beaches were beautiful, the views were unforgettable, and the food exceeded my expectations. I am usually a very picky eater, but being in another country encouraged me to try new dishes I would never have ordered at home. Every day brought something new, and I left with great memories, a greater appreciation for different cultures, and a desire to return.
