I stayed at this hotel over the Xmas period. Having got there a day later than planned. The staff were understanding and very helpful. We were taken to our room and were surprised to have a bottle of red wine waiting for us. It was unexpected but just what we needed at the end to a bad day. We ordered room service at all hours of the day and night, no complaints the service was great, understandably was approx. hour wait. There was night time entertainment but we only managed one fun night. Plenty of choices for eating and drinking. Steak house was the best. We booked a Spa treatment on the last day before we flew home. Best decision ever. The only upsetting thing is we discovered that some of the rooms have Jacuzzis and ours wasn't one of them... Did I mention that Santa arrived on the beach a helicopter..........

On the positive side, rooms were spacious (junior suite, preferred), gym well-equipped, resort clean. The beach was clean as well, albeit narrow and crowded. However, at best, this property is a 3 star. The experience deteriorated from check-in, when they commenced with hard -sell of special benefits conferred to those who attend their special breakfast, and then 45 minute sales pitch of Secrets....not how I want to begin a vacation.   The food was largely unspiced, fried, or stale( habenero sauce tasty) ...typical resort food, but I was surprised because of prior positive  reviews. Awful dining,  only made tolerable by the drinks and decent service. The place is very door to loud, heavy bass music at the adjacent Hard Rock. Also, it is a big convention destination, ( we were there at same time as a large HomeDepot convention, about 150+) with resultant beach closings and restaurant closures for other guests. We were denied access to beach by signs( " beach closed for private event, please enjoy the pool"), and guards,  and when we went to management,  we were told beach is public and we could have gone anyway.....huh? Are we supposed to know the cordoned- off area, and security guards are actually illegitimate? And the beach..if you want to involuntarily inhale cigarettes the whole time, and have hawkers continously sell cigars, sunglasses etc then this is your place. The beach is public, so apparently they have no jurisdiction to control the experience. Then, the spa: a mixed bag. I had a good enough massage,  but my husband was tortured for 80 minutes....worst spa experience ever for him. Apparently,  we should have complained at the time of service , and they said they would have done it again. No thanks.  But a refund?  Apparently not.  ( My husband gets massages frequently, and is generally patient with average massages, but this was really sub-par) Pass on this resort....many better ways to spend your money, and your time.

This was a great hotel with ambiance, great food and variety of pools and beach front. They will serve higher quality liquor upon request. They are quite accommodating for most requests however they will not book reservations at their restaurants less you buy a bottle of wine. The only downside is the constant up selling, as aforementioned as an example if you request a reservation they will ask you buy a bottle of wine. Other then the up-selling a great property and great stay.

Overall our experience at the resort was very nice. We were greeted with our personal butler Jorge who was very nice and accommodating. We upgraded to the Preferred package which apparently does not get you a bigger room, only access to certain areas. The room was nice and very clean but after looking at the other rooms it was standard which they do offer upgrades for but it is substantially more money. The preferred package allowed us access to a special lounge that had a few things to drink and a couple of snacks but nothing much. It also gave you access to the preferred pool area who had an infinity pool and it’s own bar. We were somewhat disappointed by the fact that this area closed at 6pm since the weather didn’t allow many pool days. Service in this area was ok but I would recommend ordering a bucket if you wanted to have some beers. We decided on doing a couples massage so booked it for a cloudy day which worked perfect. The spa area and massage was excellent but it is very expensive. One thing that seemed to be lacking was the night life. It seemed as though every night the only thing happening was at the piano bar. The cafe is the large buffet area where we ate once for breakfast and once for dinner. The food here was ok but definitely not great. We ended up doing room service for breakfast for most of the time which was very good. We ate lunch a couple of times at the seafood restaurant and had great meals both times. We also had excellent dinners at the steak restaurant and the Asian restaurant. One disappointing thing was that we were in a group of 6 couples and they would not make accommodations for us to sit together at dinner unless we purchased a bottle of wine. Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating but the resort had some strange rules that they had to follow. Would I stay at this resort again? Probably not.

My wife and I along with several friends visited this fine resort over the holidays. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and ate and drank ourselves into a good way, of course. The facilities, restaurants, pools, etc were top notch. We stayed on the preferred floors and wanted for nothing. If you are on the fence about booking this joint, hop over that fence and make your reservation NOW!!!
