My wife and I have traveled to secrets resorts in Mexico, at least 35 times over the years. They have always been exceptional. The customer service has always been amazing. Not this place. We were scheduled to arrive at this resort on February 25 and due to the unrest in Mexico and the travel warnings given by the US embassy including the Cancun area we attempted to change our reservation. We spoke to Delta vacations five times in the last 24 hours as well as directly with the resort reservation department and we were told to either accept the reservation and get on the plane and put ourselves in potential harms way or lose $4100 of our $6,000 reservation. We asked them for a credit to be used on a different vacation or to pushback the dates of our arrival at this resort to let things settle down in the area. We were denied both. We spoke directly to Diane at the reservations department at this resort she was absolutely nasty and could have cared less about the situation. In typical fashion, she lied about not having a supervisor and then lied that her supervisor was not around. Don’t tell me that there is not a resort manager on site at all times. This was handled as poorly as we’ve ever experienced. All they had to do was give us a credit towards a different date and there would’ve been no issues, but the greed these corporations displayed is disgusting.

What followed felt extremely high pressure and uncomfortable. • My phone was physically taken out of my hand when I attempted to research the product independently. • I was not given the opportunity to freely verify claims online. • I was shown only their own testimonials and curated reviews. • I was told the device was “FDA approved,” had lifetime warranty coverage, ongoing customer support, and was suitable for both personal and professional use. • The sales tactics were aggressive and isolating. At the time, it was overwhelming. The setting was controlled, fast-paced, and intense. The moment I walked away and had access to my phone again, I was flooded with doubt. I began researching independently and immediately started questioning the authenticity of the claims that were made to me. Looking back, the environment felt designed to limit outside input and accelerate a purchase decision — especially knowing travelers are often boarding flights soon after these interactions. If you are ever in a similar situation: ✔️ Do not let anyone take your phone. ✔️ Walk away if you feel rushed. ✔️ Verify regulatory claims yourself through official government databases. ✔️ Ask for full documentation before purchasing. ✔️ Never feel pressured to buy on the spot. Really beautiful, clean, updated resort. Food was very good - plenty of options. Although the restaurants don’t take reservations we never waited more than 20 mins. Getting a poolside chair can be challenging but we were able to snag one as long as we got down there by 8am. Staff was great. Alcohol selection was very good, except the red wine options were subpar. Overall our whole group was very happy with the resort!

Overall I really enjoyed my stay. The only negative I will have to say is that people wake up at 6am to reserve chairs. This was annoying and if you didn’t get a spot by 9am you were essentially out of luck. They also didn’t have any umbrellas out but that may have been due to wind. Other than that the food was really good and the drinks were spectacular!
