If you rate the experience here at Secrets the Vine a 1, your vote gets no pull whatsoever. We are very critical of things, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt this place is awesome. Sure, could some things be better, yes. Overall, they do a fantastic job, the morning cappuccinos are worth coming for that reason alone. I love wine and wish the wine was better, but they will bend over backwards to make this a great experience for you. We will come back. Haters stay away, you will rarely be happy anywhere! Secrets, two thumbs up!

After beautiful holidays at Secrets Royal Beach and at Secrets Maroma Beach, my boyfriend (26) and me (21) decided to choose a Secrets Resort again. We loved Mexico, so we tried out the Secrets The Vine and as at the other Secrets resorts everything was perfect! To start with, the food was incredible delicious, especially the steak at the bluewater grill- greetings to RaĂșl :-). But also the other Restaurants and bars offered perfect food and drinks. We liked the The Vine CafĂ© very much - great for small snacks and tasty coffee. The rooms are very nice and clean, the roomservice did a great job everyday. The whole resort is clean and beautiful, the staff super friendly and you can do great trips nearby. The entertainment is great as well - not too much and not too less. All in all we always felt safe, welcomed and you get lovely memories to a perfect enjoyed every second of a perfect vacation. Tipp: To everyone who likes snorkeling: We did a daytrip with “CancĂșn Sailing“ to Isla Mujeres. We were picked up at the resort and brought to the harbour in CancĂșn to drive with a sailing catamaran to Isla Mujeres. We stoped at a coral reef for a snorkel trip, at a beautiful beach for lunch and at the main harbour of Isla Mujeres to visit the island, then we drove back to the harbour of CancĂșn. On the catamaran there is some music and delicious drinks, the team on board was great. We loved this daytrip!

I can’t believe some of the negative reviews I am reading on this page about this place. I can not pinpoint one negative thing my wife and i experienced on our 7 night stay here. The staff were amazing, the rooms and resort itself was immaculate, the dinning variety was lovely. We were there for our honeymoon and my wife works directly in the hotel industry so we had high expectations that secrets lived up to and exceeded.

This resort is AMAZING, Every room has a oceanview, the staff is wonderful, kind, and so accommodating. I have stayed here three times, and just can not say enough about how great this resort is! One on my favorites of all time in Cancun. Service is 5 stars!

I have been to many tropical locations & resorts, including many years of traveling to cancun, and I can honestly say I find no reason why anyone would choose to stay here give the abundance of choices in the area. My guess is that the people reviewing are largely the timeshare members. Description: This is not a resort. A resort has gardens or grounds, some space to relax and move around, a tropical ambiance. This is a hotel. There is no space or gardens, it's a tower with a couple of pools and a small beach. The main pool view is of a giant purple wall of Hard Rock. All the bars & restaurants are inside in the hotel, so at night you are basically just in the tower. There isn't much entertainment, not that I am always a fan of resort hotel shows, but it's absence makes this stark hotel seem even more stark. I was also struck by the fact that there isn't any/much music anywhere- it's extremely quiet, even in the restaurants and casual bars. The good: its clean. The rooms and decor are a bit worn and very minimalist, but it's in OK shape. The beach is small, but the water was clear and pretty. The website makes the resort look much more high end than it is, it doesn't have that look or feel in person. The bad: Given some of the trip advisor reviews, I thought that perhaps where a place like this excels is in the food and service, but that's a no. The food is just ok. I have been to the sister resort breathless and figured this would be at least like theirs, but it's not. I would say 3star quality. And the staff isn't friendly, which I found very surprising. Service is ok, but not great. We couldn't seem to get our ice bucket filled and no one took our leftover plates out when the room was cleaned. No one was willing to go out of their way to make the stay special, we heard lots of 'no' to requests. The terrible: The pools. There is one rooftop for preferred members that was largely empty and then 3 smaller ones for everyone else. It's quiet, no music (although they oddly had a lounge singer by the pool one day) and no real entertainment. The staff tried to get people to play card games every day, that's it. There are no swim up pool bars. If you want to sit by a quiet pool and read and don't care about the view (of hard rock, not ocean) it would be ok. We were here with friends and found the pools extremely subpar. The ambiance: there is none The bars: there are 3 at night, all inside the hotel. The vine is in the open lobby area, no music - basically a staging area, you wouldn't spend time there. The sports bar, which is just like it sounds. One main piano bar, this is where the do additional sports watching (so on Mondays there are 2 sports bars) or the DJ or piano. It's small, it's ok - but again, not much entertainment. I was struck by how much I just felt like I was in a random hotel with no outside nightlife or any 'fun' going on. There was just nothing. 'Boutique': This is a fancy way of saying extremely small & limited. We had a big group in for a wedding, so we were able to make our own fun, but the size of the space meant that after the first couple a really disappointing days, we were all just bored with the place. If I could coin a phrase for this place, it would be 'small, plain, & boring' Summary: even if you are looking for a quiet relaxed trip and even if this hotel gave a good discount, there are sooooo many beautiful resort options in the area & price range - I really can't fathom why anyone would choose to come here. They advertise it different than it is, don't believe them. And I'm suspicious of all the glowing reviews, we had a huge and diverse wedding party and all were grossly disappointed, so much so that we tried to transfer resorts after the wedding (which secrets was not sympathetic to). Point is: you can do so much better than this hotel, save yourself the disappoint of thinking that this one review is the wrong one of the bunch. I can't go into all the small things in a review like this, you'll just have to trust me on this one: look elsewhere.
