We had Chef Carlos (charlie) come to our room with staff Maria Zamudio and Victor Loria. What an amazing experience. They were all so wonderful.

The property was beautiful and the staff - incredible! Unfortunately, it seems as if management is so concerned with their profit margins that they have ignored the quality of their food and alcohol. Breakfast is mediocre, if you enjoy eating in a busy school cafeteria. I tried room service a few mornings and that seems to be the best alternative. The lunches are fine and easy to get something at the beach or around the pools. Dinner is flat out pathetic. The restaurants lack ambience, are challenging to get a reservation at and the food quality is, at best, mediocre. If you like beer - no problem. If you like mixed drinks - the drinks are either so weak that you can’t taste the alcohol or the alcohol is so bad you don’t want to taste the alcohol. Finally, I signed up for our room as part of a Black Friday deal. What attracted me to the deal was the offer of $150.00 a day in credits and other various incentives/coupons. Talk about a bait and switch. I’ve attached the document I received at checkin. Their offer was useless. I went to the front desk 3 times to try to work with them to create some sort of value for my purchase and they refused to work with me. Overall, don’t waste your time and money on this place as management will figure out a way to take advantage of you.

We have stayed at Tafer Resorts, specifically Garza Blanca locations, multiple times in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo and Cancun. We decided to try this Tafer Resort, Villa del Palmar which is directly next to Garza Blanca Cancun. We booked directly through Tafer and reserved an oceanfront, one-bedroom suite with all inclusive for our family of four. Our flight home was significantly delayed. We always have lunch before we head to the airport. Today, we left our suitcases with the bellman and headed to lunch at noon. While seated at the restaurant by 12:15, our waiter informed us we needed a ticket for lunch from the checkout desk because our all-inclusive ends at noon. Left the restaurant to obtain the lunch ticket from the front desk. They told us we needed to officially checkout and pay our balance, which we should NOT have because we were all inclusive AND always leave our tips in cash. However, we had charges for meals and tips on our account. Had to fill out a form to have them removed. I asked for a print out of the other charges. David at the desk rudely told me that “he’s already explained four times what they’re for.” I admit it was confusing because there were many meals charge lines (he removed and changed to $0.00), but then several small charges which are apparently “environmental” fees. At least 30 of these for our five night stay. Final bill consisted of all those fees. Approximately $34. Not worth arguing about but yes, it took me a minute to read through an entire page of little text and multiple small charges for each day, plus the $0.00 removed lines. We asked if a manager could help us with the lunch ticket that we apparently missed by the 15 minutes. The manager was sitting next to him, Edgar, and he repeated that our all inclusive plan ended at noon. We explained that we stay at Garza Blanca resorts at least once a year and we always are allowed to have lunch before we leave. Today we missed it by 15 mins. Should have gone to the front desk instead of walking to the restaurant. We typically take a 5pm or 6pm flight out, so leave the resorts around 2pm-3pm for the airport). Edgar told us that if we booked through Expedia, we’d be given a lunch coupon. We told him that we always book direct through Tafer AND we always have lunch at the resort on our departure day. Edgar explained how Villa del Palmar is only a four start resort and Garza Blanca is a five star resort 🤣. All over 15 mins. Unfortunately our flight has been delayed until 8pm, so it would have been very nice to have a good lunch at the resort before sitting at the airport. Such a sour note to leave on. I guess we’ll stick with Garza Blanca resorts from now on!

We had a great time, as usual - this was our sixth year! The best part of the trip was as always the great staff that is so friendly and takes such good care of us: Angel and Kevin were fantastic at the pool; Candelario gave us the best service we have ever had; Adrian and Manuel kept us coming back to the Davino’s bar; and Otikio was super helpful. The food is top notch anywhere you go. Can’t wait to go back.
