Reviews for Luxury Residences by Villa del Palmar Cancun

Incredible

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

We (husband, daughter 14, daughter 11 and I) stayed in room# 1401, 2-bedroom oceanfront room with Butler service. We had two fantastic butlers, Rafael and Yosel. They were exceptional and made our stay the most relaxing and pleasurable. Villa Del Palmar also has access to Garza Blanca next door, so we went between the two resorts daily. Room-The room was very nice. The two rooms each had a king-sized bed in it. The set up for the room lacked privacy and was awkward in some areas. The bathroom area was open to the room. The toilet had a door that could swing inward and outward, make sure you close the closet doors or they will touch. The shower door was very tight and often got stuck on the rug or bathmat. None of this is a big deal because we weren’t there much. Restaurants – We went to Caprichos for breakfast every morning. The green juice was so refreshing. The wait staff was perfect. Never had an issue. We had lunch at Bite Bar. I always ordered ceviche, but we also tried chips, tuna fish, tacos, quesadillas and pizza. They were all tasty. We ordered room service the first night and it was a lot of food. We had to store it in the frig. Monday night we ate at Blanca Blue, and it was fantastic, we opted for the lobster which included an upcharge. On Tuesday we had dinner at Hiroshi. This was our favorite restaurant. My husband even tried the sushi because it looked so good. We went to Mexican night a Caprichos on Wednesday. The options were plentiful and very delicious. The wait staff at each restaurant was top tier. The service at this resort was unmatched. We wish would have explored the other restaurants at Garza Blanca for lunch options, but that’s on us. Beach/Pool – The beach was small, but there were always chairs. There was also a lot of seaweed, but it wasn’t smelly and they cleaned it up often. We didn’t get into the water, but we walked and sat by the beach in the evenings. We moved between the family pool and main pool. Nice atmosphere, calming music and plenty of chairs in the morning. Late afternoon and evening were crowded. Service – We had the best service. I can’t think of anyone who didn’t speak and smile when we walked by. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasurable. Spa – I had a relaxing massage with hydrotherapy. I enjoyed the spa except the door to the spa was right at the locker I was using so I felt uncomfortable changing. I’ve never done hydrotherapy before, and this was wonderful. First was the steam room, then the cold plunge, the hot tub and then jetted tub. Very nice. Entertainment – There was a list provided for all day entertainment. We went to a couple of the shows. The Mexican show was good we stayed the whole time and took lots of pictures and videos. The magician was so-so. It was so crowded with standing room only that we couldn’t really see anything and we ended up just leaving. Con – The constant upselling and the membership presentation right at check in. Argh! We were tired and had to listen to a spiel about the membership. We plan on returning in the future. We absolutely loved this resort thank you!

I was NEVER more disappointed with a vacation in my life.

I stayed here mid-July 2026- I reserved a 2 BDRM Penthouse Loft with my family having only experienced one of the restaurants onsite when I stayed at the neighboring Garza Blanca in 2022. Check-in was fairly easy and I was excited to have one of the top-tier rooms as "The Two Bedroom Penthouse Loft encompasses all that is luxurious and everything you need to feel spoiled and pampered in paradise." and "a whirlpool tub that overlooks spectacular sea views through the floor-to-ceiling windows that invite in the splendid Caribbean light." As this trip progressed, I felt more and more that I had dropped a mortgage payment level amount to deal with the day to day problems I hoped to escape from on vacation. 1st night- we were happy with the temperature of AC in the hot Mexican climate and really were in awe of the massive floor to ceiling windows- However, it was realized overnight that while there were blackout curtains for the bedroom side, the other side only had a drop down curtain that obscured the window and would let in all the light as the morning progressed(see pic)... Opposite the large window in the master, there is a steam room/shower that has 2 windows with NO curtain on either- so the light comes in from the front of the hotel and in thru another window with ZERO privacy possible(see pic).. Any one walking into the room while you're taking a shower will see you in your birthday suit. If the light wakes you up, you will be rising with the sun each day. There are a few pools to choose from, but each has a surface on them exactly like walking on sandpaper/sharp rocks and was not comfortable to be barefoot on at all. 2nd night- the wife and I really had hoped to close the night out relaxing and sipping some wine from the large whirlpool in the master bedroom- honestly it was one of the main reasons I booked this room type... Turned both faucets on to start and saw that the water pressure was EXTREMELY low- I have video of this, but cannot upload here.. We left them open for 15 mins and the water level in the tub was only 10% full. I called my concierge and he had someone come up to look at it, but after he tried to remedy the low pressure, it seemed that nothing could be done. Let my concierge know, and he suggested starting the bath in advance of when wanting to take one or possibly him having someone come in and starting it after contacting him. The other problem with scheduling this "activity" in advance was that the water temperature would only get warm at best.. 3rd Day- My family is not the type to have the room made up each day, so we usually have the Do Not Disturb on for most of the week.. We came back from hanging at the pool to find housekeeping actually did come in to clean (with the DND sign left on the door at our departure) and our sign gone. Maybe it fell off, maybe it didn't, but I know I had it on the door when we left for the pool. 5th Day- With the new DND sign left off for housekeeping to come in, we came back from our day out to find a batch of receipts we were keeping for records in the fruit bowl GONE. At this point, I truly felt that I have never really been allowed to be on vacation because of the compounding nagging issues I've encountered. Day 6- decided to wash all the clothes we've used on the trip prior to leaving... Included Washer and dryer does not turn on. Had to call maintenance to come fix, and they did. Luxury is the state of great comfort and extravagant living, typically characterized by things that are expensive, beautiful, and not strictly necessary. It often extends beyond material goods to include exclusivity, exceptional craftsmanship, and personalized experiences that provide deep pleasure, convenience, or prestige.. In my experience with Villa Del Palmar, it DOES NOT meet a majority of these criteria and cannot be called a luxury hotel - Yes, the room was nice.. BUT all of the listed features such as the whirlpool, do NOT work. The water pressure is low, the water temperature is mildly warm and has a "farty" smell to it. Throughout the entire trip, my needs and desires as a paying customer were not met or flat out ignored. I cannot speak at length to the quality of the food as we only had 2 meals from "Bites Bar" and it was ok. All of the staff that we encountered were nice and accommodating, except for the cleaning staff who entered our room unauthorized and threw away things they decided needed to be trashed. While there is a Washer/Dryer provided, you do not get any detergent, so you'll need to go find some. DO NOT buy things at the little corner Tienda onsite as things there were SUPER expensive- A bottle of sunscreen was $40 and most of the drinks were 2X the price of the GOMart that is a 2 minute walk from the property. The beach at this time of the year is not nice/unswimmable due to the level of Sargassum present, but that's no fault of the hotel. All in all, I would NEVER go back OR recommend Villa Del Palmar to anyone and would suggest they stay at the neighboring Garza Blanca instead.

First rate choice for families in Cancun

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

An excellent choice for a relaxing family vacation in Cancun. While Cancun is very hot and humid in July, the hotels are much less crowded and that makes the experience for a large family (8 adults and 4 kids) much better: plenty of room in the pools, no fights for beach chairs, relatively easy to get reservations at the resort's restaurants, etc. Rooms are comfortable, the food is better than most "all inclusive" resorts. The staff is very friendly and while they will try to get you to go to some sort of timeshare/residence presentation, they do take "no" for an answer. The nightly entertainment next door (at Garza Blanca under the same ownership) was much better than expected and truly enjoyable. Rooms were quiet, with the exception of those on the far end of building 3 where the roar of the massive air conditioning units for the hotel next door was constant and might be a problem for some.
