We stayed her for a week in July. This was our second visit here, and will probably not return. First the positives: We had a two bedroom unit, and it was lovely. Very clean, great AC, everything in working order, excellent house keeping and room service staff, etc. Our two bedroom unit had two masters, both with a king, with a middle living/dining/kitchen (which included a washer/dryer). They did take out the murphy bed in the living room this time, so would have been difficult if traveling with more than one teen. Staff (other than the pool concierge) were fabulous! From check-in, housekeeping, pool waiters, restaurant and bar staff were all wonderful. The drinks were great! A large selection of liquors, including top-shelf. Best drinks at any resort that we have been to. The food was delicious. We tried all of the restaurants, the buffet, and room service, and all were really good. Now the negative: The pool chair situtation was abysmal. Although the resort has a large "vip" pool area, the staff now save a large number of the pool chairs and all of the cabanas in the regular pool area. The pool concierges, who do not arrive until around 6:30 AM, have the night staff put out the yellow "vip" towels on all of the front seats, padded seats and the pool cabanas (again this is at the regular pool). Not only were we not able to get good chairs, the disparity between the "regular" and "vip" guest was smack-you-in-the-face insulting (keep in mind that this is a "luxury" resort, with luxury pricing, even for standard bookings). The number of saved chairs far exceeded the "vip" guests, as the pool concierge will "sell" the saved spots (in the form of $20+ tip per day) to save chairs. We have stayed at many resorts over the past 30 years, including as vip, however this is a first place that blatantly takes away amenities from standard areas to accomodate vip and high-tipping guests. The pool concierge, who was handing out fruit kabobs, grabbed the tray away and walked past our "regular" chairs. The entertainment was scaled down this visit. As a disclaimer, we like lively pool music, pool parties, foam parties, etc. The music, for the most part, was elevator-boring. They did offer pool aerobics daily, however was scaled back to 30 minutes. They only offered pool water polo twice a week. They however did keep up the volleyball net in the pool. They also offered paddle boards, kayaks and a trampoline-type water park. They only has live music at the pool twice, a single person playing an instrument (last visit they has an ensamble several times per week). The entertainment staff were very nice, however I suspect that they are pulled among the other resorts. They do not have a coffee/pastry/dessert/ice cream shop at this resort, which is a huge negative, especially for my teens. They do have a Starbucks right outside the resort, but it is not included in the resort AI. The beach is 5 out of 10, but we were aware of this having been to this area multiple times. In summary, you may want to rethink about going to this resort, unless you are willing to dish out the $10,000 + as "vip" status. Avoid if you like a lively atmosphere and music. Avoid if you like large buffets (the buffet is only open at breakfast, and three to four evenings per week (no lunch buffet). If you prefer a quieter resort, where families can make their own entertainment, then this may be an option for you.

1. Day 1 check in was at 4pm waited from 1 to 4 pm to get room. Room is great. Big 1 bedroom with king bed and living room, 2 baths. Coffee and water provided. Washer, dryer, full kitchen. Signed up for residency tour, mistake, 90 minutes =3 hours. Didn't get out until after 11:30 am 2. Day 2. All pools very warm. Adult pool filter not on or filtering heath violation. Reported pool to front desk. More to come.

Wonderful rooms, staff, amenities and restaurants. Went with my adult children and their spouses and children ages 6-18. The only drawback was the water at the beach. It was murky and almost unswimmable due to seaweed. What a disappointment.

Not so high end or detail oriented. Unit Description: The sleek, contemporary Two Bedroom Suite features a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a large second bedroom with two queen-size beds, and a living area with a sofa bed. When we booked our room we selected the 2 bedroom with 3 beds total. The description clearly states that it’s a kind and two queen beds. And that it wasn’t just a “request” by us. Being a family with 3 teenagers and an infant the amount of beds was important for us. When we got to our first room the beds were only two king beds and a sofa bed, not what was expected and told via the description. We then went back to the front desk to seek clarity and get placed into the correct room and this is when we they said that room types are just requests and no guarantee even though the description clearly states two queen beds and 1 king bed. They then proceeded to tell us we were out of luck and no other rooms were available, gives a great first experience of the almost $4000 trial membership that we were using this week. Then after talking with the third person since they said no other options with the proper room set up, we magically got a room. Now in this second room, the air conditioning didn’t work, we requested 3 different times for it to get fixed over the next 30 hours and when it’s between 75-77 with an infant, this wasn’t acceptable for the experience at a luxury resort. We then were able to get switched but only back to a two king room but we at least had working air conditioning. Now into the second morning woke up to killing 38 ants and couldn’t stay on top of it, we informed the desk and they said someone would come up around 2pm. No clue as we weren’t in unit but come 3rd morning we still had ants but just not as many. Dealt with it but come the 4th morning there was over 100 ants. Which you can see in the photos attached. I know not every room is the same but now again sending house keeping to try and clean them up, but this doesn’t resolve issue of the ants. Again with an infant the idea of them fumigating and putting ant killer out doesn’t appeal to us at all. Of course they say no other rooms are available either, which again with the track record of them already telling us that once but then magically having a room available. It’s really hard to believe. Back to if it was just a trial membership I know the experience would definitely not appeal to me to ever want to purchase more and I know different resorts and options are always available but I do know that for our family we will never be back to Villa del palmar. But still look forward to our membership with the residence club and seeing the other properties, even though this week has been awful. We will see how the final 3 days go…. At least a good view from room.

My girlfriend and I recently went on a short getaway to this all-inclusive hotel for a few days. I had a wonderful time; the food was excellent, and the service was excellent. The only condition was attending a 90-minute timeshare presentation, which I didn't accept, but for the price they gave me, I took the risk. The only thing I didn't like was the taxis outside the hotel and the way they charge you, but inside the hotel, you can find great people willing to drive you and give you good rates. I highly recommend it! If you want to get this package or promotion. I want to go again for Spring Break, but to Los Cabos this time, any questions, let me know. I got a super discount price for this adventure
