Reviews for Luxury Residences by Villa del Palmar Cancun

Check-out with All-Inclusive

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

We have stayed at Tafer Resorts, specifically Garza Blanca locations, multiple times in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo and Cancun. We decided to try this Tafer Resort, Villa del Palmar which is directly next to Garza Blanca Cancun. We booked directly through Tafer and reserved an oceanfront, one-bedroom suite with all inclusive for our family of four. Our flight home was significantly delayed. We always have lunch before we head to the airport. Today, we left our suitcases with the bellman and headed to lunch at noon. While seated at the restaurant by 12:15, our waiter informed us we needed a ticket for lunch from the checkout desk because our all-inclusive ends at noon. Left the restaurant to obtain the lunch ticket from the front desk. They told us we needed to officially checkout and pay our balance, which we should NOT have because we were all inclusive AND always leave our tips in cash. However, we had charges for meals and tips on our account. Had to fill out a form to have them removed. I asked for a print out of the other charges. David at the desk rudely told me that “he’s already explained four times what they’re for.” I admit it was confusing because there were many meals charge lines (he removed and changed to $0.00), but then several small charges which are apparently “environmental” fees. At least 30 of these for our five night stay. Final bill consisted of all those fees. Approximately $34. Not worth arguing about but yes, it took me a minute to read through an entire page of little text and multiple small charges for each day, plus the $0.00 removed lines. We asked if a manager could help us with the lunch ticket that we apparently missed by the 15 minutes. The manager was sitting next to him, Edgar, and he repeated that our all inclusive plan ended at noon. We explained that we stay at Garza Blanca resorts at least once a year and we always are allowed to have lunch before we leave. Today we missed it by 15 mins. Should have gone to the front desk instead of walking to the restaurant. We typically take a 5pm or 6pm flight out, so leave the resorts around 2pm-3pm for the airport). Edgar told us that if we booked through Expedia, we’d be given a lunch coupon. We told him that we always book direct through Tafer AND we always have lunch at the resort on our departure day. Edgar explained how Villa del Palmar is only a four start resort and Garza Blanca is a five star resort 🤣. All over 15 mins. Unfortunately our flight has been delayed until 8pm, so it would have been very nice to have a good lunch at the resort before sitting at the airport. Such a sour note to leave on. I guess we’ll stick with Garza Blanca resorts from now on!

Year 6 and will come back again

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We had a great time, as usual - this was our sixth year! The best part of the trip was as always the great staff that is so friendly and takes such good care of us: Angel and Kevin were fantastic at the pool; Candelario gave us the best service we have ever had; Adrian and Manuel kept us coming back to the Davino’s bar; and Otikio was super helpful. The food is top notch anywhere you go. Can’t wait to go back.

What a great family trip!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We had a mini family reunion! It was the perfect place for all 7 of us. Adults and 7 year old. Loved the rooms, loved the pools, loved the beach! The staff was amazing! We had no issues. Kevin and the entire team at the elite pool were just awesome. Took such great care of us!! We can’t wait to come back later this year!

Pros and Cons for One Night at Villa del Palmar Cancun

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This review reflects only my experience with the room I stayed in for a single night, not a full vacation at the resort. Pros • Impressive, large building with a strong visual presence. • Modern and attractive reception area, giving a good first impression. • High‑quality toiletries in the bathroom, provided by L’Occitane. Cons • Extremely slow check‑in process. It took 7–10 minutes per room, and because a group of 50–60 people arrived at the same time, the entire process lasted nearly two hours. • The building wing I stayed in felt dated and in need of upgrades. • The electronic door pad was partially detached, hanging by a few screws—fortunately still functional, but clearly worn. • The room had an internal connecting door to the adjacent room (which happened to be empty), reducing the sense of privacy. • The bathroom door was locked when we entered the room, and since no key was available, we had to improvise to get it open. • Constant background noise, including a persistent buzzing similar to an air conditioner and water gurgling inside the walls. Earplugs were necessary to get any sleep.
