This was our first time at Zoetry after staying at Secrets Maroma. We had high expectations for the physical plant, service, and food and beverage as Zoetry was touted as the ‘five star’ upgrade from Secrets. Overall we were disappointed. The physical plant was nice enough, clean and well appointed, but not really an upgrade from Secrets. The service was inconsistent at best, and generally not as good as Secrets and certainly not as good as we anticipated. The food and beverage were a very modest upgrade from Secrets, and generally uninspired. The greatest disappointment was of course the beach. Maroma is beautiful, with clear blue water and fine white sand beaches. The beachfront at Zoetry had no charm, no space, no service and added no value to our stay.

Zoetry is pushed hard on the members of Unlimited Vacation Clubs as a 5 star. It is not. The employees were all helpful and very polite. Some more than others. Getting the front desk to arrange travel to a nearby Secrets or a dinner at Impressions next door was time consuming. But one must remind oneself that they are Mexico and not NY. The food was good, but not great. Our most recent stay was at Secrets The Vine. By comparison, Secrets offered far more options for dining and the food was better we thought. Our room was interesting. Our king size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was terrific. However the adjoining living area was strange. There was an L shaped desk that was just so out of place, taking up a lot of space. We couldn't figure out why someone whould design a guest suite with such a large and unneccesary piece of furniture. The adjoining couch was so upright that we decided to avoid sitting there. Both TVs were tiny compared to any hotel we'd stayed at for many years. Most bothersome about the room was the damn peacocks outside screaming at all hours through the night. If I had a gun....... One reason I won't go back is that the gym is not at all what we expected. I'm told the spa services are great, but we aren't really spa types. For some reason I expected a gym on par with that at Secrets The Vine (10+). The gym at Zoetry was really small and a huge disappointment. The beach-let me begin by saying that if anyone blames management for the massive seaweed problem, they need to get a grip. There is nothing anyone can do about the seaweed. I'll also say that for a hotel, or a blog, to suggest that the seaweed can get carted away daily, that's just not right either. Siffice it to say that during our stay we saw no one get anywhere near the water. What a shame. But not unique to Zoetry as much of Cancun down to Tulum is suffering. I've said enough. Zoetry is fine. Very very quiet. Not for us. There are just too many other better places to stay.

We just came back last weekend. The overall experience was outstanding. We decided to try a new part of the resort called Impressions. We were greeted at the airport. We did not even have to look for the representative, he found us. The trip to the resort was very short. Once we were at the resort we were greeted by our butler and was takes straight to our room. He took care of the check in and luggage. The room was immaculate. We had an ocean front suite with two terraces. The first one had a heated plunge pool with nice sitting area with a bed. The second terrace had a private bed and outdoor shower. Almost every day we took a quick nap on the terrace just enjoying the sun and sounds of the ocean waves. The room was very comfortable with plenty of space for our clothing. We had a nice table for eating which always had fresh fruits and champagne. The mini-fridge was always stocked with beverages. The room was equipped with a tablet which controlled the automatic blinds, Television and air conditioning. The bed and pillows were very comfortable which made it difficult to get up in the morning. We used all the activities offered by the resort. We enjoyed the cruise to Isle Mujeres. The sunset/champagne cruise was relaxing but short. We even experienced wine and tequila tasting. I learned you can sip Tequila and it is made from cactus. The wine and tequila used for these events were not cheap brands but very good brands. We also met new people and spent time sharing out experiences of the tastings. We also spent time at the Thalasso spa. The treatments were far better than any other spa we have been to (we always go to a spa at each resort), The saltwater pool at the spa made up for the lack of going into the ocean. One of the interesting experiences we participated in and enjoyed was the Temazcal ceremony offered by the spa. We went to all the restaurants including the Impressions Dragon restaurant. Erika the manager made us feel like we were part of the family. We were really impressed with the private chef in the Impressions kitchen. We had breakfast every morning experiencing a special dish each time. I would like to thank the chef for doing a superb job of creating a memorable breakfast experience. All the restaurants provided plenty of good and healthy foods. The only problem with the restaurants was they were slow but we were in no hurry. The only disappointment was the beach because of the seaweeds and could not swim in the ocean.

Resort is spotless. It is definitely a Zen atmosphere. You are not allowed to have any music at the swimming pools are be loud. Pools shut down after dark and you can hear a pin drop after hours. We upgraded to a suite in the new units and had our own swimming pool on our balcony. I would not recommend this for people wanting to party their or people with children. Most of the guests there are over 60 and pretty boring. Our daughter stayed at Dreams NOW and it was fun to party there for a night. If you like a laid back quiet atmosphere this is the place for you. The spa was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. It you are coming to Cancun to party and raise Cain then you definitely do not want to come to this resort, in fact they would probably throw you out. Transportation to see the sites from this resort are kind of a pain and it usually cost you $27.00 US one way wherever you go. If you go on tours you will have to get a taxi to another resort as the road into the resort is to small for the big busses so your looking at $27.00 each way. Service was excellent, sushi bar was awesome. If you like big portions of food you will want to try a different resort. They have birds of all kinds roaming the property or in cages. If you want seclusion and quite then this is the place. No vendors to bother you at anytime!

There is a great variety of delicious food. Service at the restaurants and pool area is AMAZING. The rooms are quite large with a bedroom and living room, however, there is no entertainment in the evening, other than 1 night out of 5 there was a vocalist after dinner. Also there are some noisy birds during the day.
