My husband and I just returned from a magical week at Zoetry. Having visited for the first time in December with my young adult daughter, I was so anxious to share what I loved about it with my husband that we scheduled a trip only four months later. We have many trips over a lot of years to a variety of resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean under our belts, so our standards have become quite high. We enjoy every trip we take together, but are difficult to impress. Zoetry managed to exceed our expectations in every area, and even outdo my wonderful experiences from my first visit. It is a top-echelon resort for us, absolutely. PRE-ARRIVAL: The Zoetry pampering experience begins prior to arrival. I had a few concerns about bringing my husband to Zoetry because he is quite active and I wanted to make sure he would find enough in the way of athletic pursuits during our stay. No request seems to be too unusual for Zoetry. Their amazing assistant manager, Erika Hernandez, among other questions she answered via email, was able to arrange for him to pursue his sports that they don't offer at Zoetry at off-site locations. That's just one example. Communications regarding transportation, room requests, questions about best weeks to book, and more were all answered promptly, accurately, and with patience and extreme warmth. Follow-through on every issue from Reservations, their GM, Ms. Angulo and assistant manager, and Transportation was 100%. CHECK-IN AND ROOM: Bernice checked us in and she could not have been more gracious. Though we arrived at about noon, they had our room ready within a few minutes of arrival. We requested and received a top floor room in Building One--the magnificent Aman suite, with an enviable view of the ocean. The suites at Zoetry are simply more beautiful than at any other resort at which we've stayed, and larger too, with colorful decor reflective of the city represented in the suite name. Room amenities were luxurious, including Bvlgari bath products and plush robes. The bed and pillows were excellent. The bathroom is the size of a New York City studio apartment. The mini-bar was well stocked, with the addition of a welcome bottle of champagne, welcome snacks, nightly treats from macarons to truffles, and a custom bottle of tequila. Housekeeping during the day and at turn-down was exemplary. We loved the included laundry service and used it twice. Our clothes arrived back in timely fashion, pressed and on hangers or folded, in perfect condition. I would have gladly lived out my retirement years in that suite. SPA AND GYM: The spa manager, Sofia Cicero is overseeing a terrific overhaul of the spa and gym such that there were fabulous improvements to this lovely space even over the course of 4 months. The beautiful spa has plush new robes and updated massage tables, which enhanced the experience. The thalasso pool is available all the time, at no extra charge. I highly recommend finding it early in your stay. I understand they are updating the spa hot tub, though I did not use it this trip. I had one of the best massages of my life (and I don't say that easily) from Gabriela--an 80 minute hot stone massage. My husband really enjoyed his Swedish massage with Nate. The gym has been enlarged since our last visit--it's nice and spacious now. It is in the same space, so you still get the views of the ocean and the pier, and the sunrise if you are an early riser like me. The gym is open 24-hours a day. They are scheduled for all new equipment in a month. The current equipment (2 treadmills, a StairMaster, a few weight machines, free weights, a couple of yoga mats, and a ball) are more than adequate. Some new yoga mats, some air for the ball (easy) or a new one, and a few kettle bells would make it my dream gym (well, okay, a Smith System and some TRX bands too, since I am dreaming) but I was more than happy working out each day in there. Some of those items may likely already be on order. At most, one other person was working out with me before 8:30am. I loved that. That Sofia has done so much in just the few months since we were last there is remarkable! Did I mention she gets the award for goodness too? FOOD/FOOD SERVICE/CHEFS: The overall dining experience we had at Zoetry tops anything we have had at any resort anywhere in a quarter of a century of traveling as a couple. The regular meals were superlative, from breakfasts at Kaax to lunches at the beach grill or even at our loungers, to room service dinner, dinner at Canoa, and dinner at Kaax. The desserts, pastries, and breads at Zoetry are worth every calorie, which is so different from most Mexican resorts. They are delectable, from breakfast pastries to house-made chocolate Easter eggs delivered poolside by the Easter bunny. Cesar at Kaax breakfasts is a star, as is Carlos at Kaax dinner service. The special dinners at Zoetry were sublime. Executive Chef Jose Vallejo spends parts of every day interacting with guests and arranging special meals prepared by his gifted team of sous chefs to suit guests' tastes. I believe this takes the term, "Endless Privileges" to a whole new level. Chef Jose arranged a lunch for us at the beach grill with the most tender grilled Pulpo I've ever had. We had an all seafood dinner one night at Canoa. Chef Hugo prepared a stand-out Mexican dinner for us at El Chiringuito of a refried bean dip that tasted nothing like the gloppy stuff I had eaten before in my life, Tacos al Pastor, enchiladas with a Oaxacan Mole, and a mind-blowing Mexican dessert platter. Our most special evening was when we asked Ms. Angulo and Ms Hernandez if they could help arrange something special for when our friends came to visit. I began receiving emails and visits immediately from them, Mr. Ruiz, the Operations Manager, and Chef Vallejo. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined something more elaborate or more perfect. Chef Vallejo and the head bartender presided over the entire meal, from a flight of specialty Mezcal cocktails and local snacks at Hippo bar to a multi-course outdoor dinner at Canoa. I won't go into every course, except the sous chef was wonderful, the food delectable, and the atmosphere created for us and our friends at once elegant and comfortable. I am beyond grateful. ACTIVITIES: Here was my daily schedule: go to the gym in the morning in order to put a check in that box. Take up my position at the pool or beach and begin ordering cocktails, interspersed with agua. Break for food. Nap as needed. Change for cocktails at the Hippo Bar and then dinner, possibly followed by more time at the Hippo Bar. It was rough. Thank goodness my husband tried out some of the activities so that I can report on them. He enjoyed daily yoga with Genevieve and also very much with the visiting instructor. He found Genevieve did an excellent job of tailoring the yoga to the guests' different levels, and varying the styles and emphasis each day. She was punctual and very organized. He declared it to be "excellent resort yoga." He went snorkeling via the marina right on the resort and appreciated the convenience, reasonable pricing, and professionalism. He loved being so close to the Puerto Morelos Reef. The Marina at Zoetry gets very regular use. It's a great service to provide right on-site: literally on the side of the pool. The diving was quite popular. The instructor, who would give instructions in the pool in the morning, seemed extremely patient and encouraging. We did not do the included catamaran sunset cruise or boat tour to Isla because I get motion sick, though guests seem to be enjoying them very much. They also have various boats you can charter privately, which would be great fun for a group. Many others, more industrious than us were enjoying the various classes and demonstrations. Don't miss the cocktails mixed in the coconuts on Saturdays! One area for improvement, which may end of being my single critique of this entire review after a week's stay--unheard of for me because I find areas for improvement always at even my favorite resorts--is that the tennis court is in sad shape and needs resurfacing. They do set out water and towels in front every day. However, the astro-turf, which is a non-regulation surface that does not belong on a tennis court anyway and does not even wear well, is torn and worn, with many patches. It's an easy fall risk for someone, with patches right at the center mark on the baseline on one side, and worn lines that are indented from the rest of the surface. If clay is too costly to resurface with, a hard court would be fabulous. In only our two stays at Zoetry, they clearly are always making improvements, so I would not be surprised if tennis court improvements may be on the list. POOL AND BEACH SERVICE: At Zoetry, during the week between Passover and Easter and a few days beyond, with the resort at full capacity and a few groups in-house, 50% of chairs at the pool would still be available at 10:30am. This is counter to our experience at any other resort...and an amazing treat. Do not dare try to touch your own umbrella or lay out your own (already rolled out and waiting for you group of) towels on your loungers at Zoetry. Members of the pool staff will come racing over to do it for you lest you strain yourself in the exertion. Drink service is regular and quick. Food may be delivered from the grill or from Kaax, with such treats as sushi at one's lounger. Victor, Miguel, Adrien, and Antonio were all stellar providers of beach service and kept us very happy. We were fearful of possible groups and children in-house during our stay, so much so that I exchanged several emails with Ms. Hernandez, the assistant manager, who helped me try to find the best week to come to avoid wedding groups and kids. We have been burnt at other resorts, including small resorts, by groups taking over and altering the atmosphere for everyone else. Ultimately, we needed a vacation and found a good enough week, knowing full well it was holiday time and we would be seeing family groups and kids. Though it wasn't as empty as mid-December, I just do not understand how a resort can be so quiet when it is full. The groups that were there, and there were several, never congregated in the pool, which is crucial for noise-reduction. The kids were almost exclusively one child with one parent or one child with two parents. We never saw any kids in the formal restaurant, with the exception of one perfectly-behaved German boy (in case his parents read this) whose family sat outside. The majority of guests during our stay, especially the first half of our stay, were not Americans. Children and groups during our stay were no disruption and no issue. Quite the opposite. The kids were cute, sweet, and enjoyable. In fact, we only encountered one family of unpleasant, unhappy guests the whole time. It takes a lot of work to be unhappy at Zoetry! ASSESSMENT: I may be running out of glowing adjectives. Zoetry is superb. If I were rating it, I would give it a 10/10. There are few resorts to which we return. We like to try new places. Zoetry is one of the rare ones. We hope to have the opportunity to return, sooner rather than later. My critiques are small--trifles and not problems. I recommend it without qualification. I understand they are opening a property in Aruba that I would love to try as well, and some guests were raving about their Punta Cana location. Zoetry is not the resort for everyone. Peaceful, refined, but unpretentious pampering at its very best is what you find at Zoetry. I, for one, am a new, huge fan!

I was one of 29 guests. This location was chosen by the bride and groom and they nailed it. What a great get away. Primarily adults only. 90ish rooms that all face the ocean. I thought I wanted to be on the first floor and we ended up on the top floor (3rd). What a treat. Large rooms: bathroom, bedroom, living room and balcony. Three restaurants: I had the opportunity to be in the kitchen with the Executive Chef Jose Vallejo who was very generous with his time, staff and knowledge. He showed me how to prepare a few of the dishes I ate at the resort and absolutley loved! The staff on site at this resort are kind, polite and go over the top to make you feel at home. There are tennis courts, a spa that offers yoga each morning plus acquasize and as well a fitness gym. The wedding planner on site was a gem (Christina). This lady knows people skills and how to manage people in a professional manner. This is a place that I would return to given how relaxing and quiet it was. If you are looking for a party place, this is not the place and thank goodness. Thank you to all the staff and to the bride and groom for choosing such a great location.

Stayed here a week just prior to Easter and I have never been pampered or catered to at a resort like this before! The grounds are beautiful and the mood is very laid back and relaxing. Service was first class all the way. During the course of the week I enjoyed a round of golf with a friend at El Tinto, a catamaran ride in the bay with all 8 members of our group, a Temazcal ceremony at the Thalassotherapy Spa, plus a shopping excursion to the island of Mujeres by powerboat. Days spent at the pool were made extra special by our pool attendant Victor who saw to our groups every need. My wife celebrated her birthday in the middle of the week with a memorable outdoor dinner under a romantic full moon with ocean breeze we will never forget. From the head concierge Raphael to the entertainment director Victor the entire staff provided great service over the course of the entire week. I highly recommend this resort!

I leave tomorrow but this has been a great vacation despite the rain. The service at this hotel is awesome. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation this hotel is for you. If you want a hotel with loud parties this is not for you. I will recommend this hotel to others because they go above and beyond with their customer service. Also the facials at the spa are awesome. I feel so refreshed it's kinda sad my vacation is almost over.

We visited this resort in September 2016 and had a fantastic time. The service was impeccable, views were stunning and the best part was how amazing the food was. On one of the nights the head chef came and asked us what we would like for dinner and he cooked it all for us! Also we loved that we got to set some baby turtles free. Could not fault our trip. Hopefully will be back soon!
