Any words I could use to describe the Body Holiday sound wholly cliched but this is certainly the most magical holiday I have ever been on. I have never felt so safe, so enriched and secure in this little bubble for a week. One size fits all here, there is a reason people keep coming back(some 30 times!) and it has such cult status. If you want to manically exercise, if you want to read your book all day nestled in one of the comforting cabanas or if you want back to back pampering, there is a place for you here. What marks the Body Holiday from any other resort, is the intelligent design and management of the place. Thirsty? Never fear there is chilled water nearby. Want a dance? Sure why not and there are three excellent dancers you can hang out with. Hungry? Availability of a pizza or quinoa. The staff are continually present but in a non interfering way. The all inclusive nature means you can literally remove yourself from the stresses of daily life and most importantly for me have as many green juices and iced coffees as I so pleased. My pals hit the Rose. Special mention for the Ayurvedic treatments, especially Patricia and for the watersports guys who were friendly, encouraging and helpful. Don’t miss the sunset cruise, great fun and dancing on board. Yes it is expensive, but represents good value for money. Save the money on a soul searching trip to average places for a month and come here for a week.

This is an outstanding place for a visit whether you travel solo or in a couple. What sets this apart from anywhere else I have been is the great staff. From the minute you arrive at the airport to the wait staff at each restaurant and of course, The Body Guard team. If you want a "lie by the beach" holiday, this is the place for you; if you want an action packed holiday with a combination of fitness classes, mindfulness classes, tennis and watersports, this is also the place for you. The activities team are so well trained they are better than any physical therapist I have seen over the years and I use it as an opportunity to get my injury workout plan redone when I go. It is an added bonus to have a spa treatment per day included in your package. Each time I go I feel like I am "going home". I have spoken with people there who are 40 time returners and I know the reason why. You definitely rejuvenate your body and mind whether you are active or simply want a relaxing beach holiday. A couple of tips: 1) You need bug spray. They nicely provide it at the hotel and you will need it! I also purchased all natural citronella bracelets this time on Amazon and they worked really well. The mosquitos were particularly bad this trip. 2) If you want a great taxi service, I highly recommend Andy Alexander. I now book him directly. An overall great experience - he is super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the island and always reliable. In effect a tour guide as well. This is our second stay and will definitely not be our last, another wonderful stay at The BodyHoliday, I can not praise the BodyHoliday enough from there fantastic choices in healthy eating to there most amazing staff who are so friendly and helpful in every way. It is a lovely thing when you return somewhere to be recognised from the previous stay, the classes on offer cater for every age group, with motivating teachers with humour mixed in, perfect for us with our family who age between 17-50, and then you can relax with no guilt!

I debated giving 4/5 for this review, because there are good things about the hotel, however I just couldn't justify it given the cost of the resort, as my experience wasn't "very good". I will start with the good things: -Great beach, though small, with lots of watersports activities. Daily tubing was great! -The daily inclusive spa treatments were something to look forward to; I had some of the best massages of my life at this resort. However, I don't really feel like you can call it a spa, as you really just go to a cloister area surrounded by the therapy rooms and wait outside the door until the treatment. The actual place isn't particularly relaxing, and definitely not what comes to mind when you think of a spa. -Many activities to do, though some days they didn't happen without explanation. -The staff, as a whole, are very polite and friendly, and up for a chat. I think they are the main reason why a lot of people choose to come back. The bad -Breakfast: Sometimes I had to queue for 15-20 minutes for eggs, and often received poached eggs that were overcooked/ inedible. The yoghurt was awful. The general offering was good, but I feel queuing for so long, by which time my family had finished their breakfasts, became quite annoying. -Lunch: As a vegetarian, after 10 days it became tiring effectively only being able to eat salad and potatoes, or pizza. This place is definitely a meat-eater's paradise, and not the most catering to vegetarians. I also felt the deli had limited options for vegetarians, and what I tried was tasteless( the veggie wrap and roasted vegetable panini). The hummus wasn't nice and the smoothies were really not great. This place advertises itself as having food for everyone, and of good quality but I really didn't feel this way. None of the cocktails had fresh fruit and tasted very artificial. -Dinner: the vegetarian options were really very poor. My mum and I often had to go to the buffet and bring a plate of salad over whilst my brother and dad had their meat options in the formal restaurant. Dishes like pasta and tomato sauce is not fine dining, and really not fair to vegetarians when the meat eaters seemed to have a lot of very nice options. One of our meals was effectively a huge bowl of cauliflower and cheese...not great! However, the worst thing was that one night we asked for something off the menu to give the restaurant a chance to make something nice for us, as I'd heard they are very happy to cater for people. We received a plate of unseasoned boiled vegetables and wild rice. Not fine dining. Once again, I was forced to go to the buffet and bring over a plate of salad, long after my family had received their meal. It is a very bizarre thing in a supposed 5* restaurant to be forced to literally leave and get food from the other restaurant and bring it back . After telling the waiter we weren't happy, he just took it back without so much as an apology which was a shame. -Entertainment: definitely aimed at the older guests, with pretty poor music. Often just went to the library to watch tv because there's no tv in the room, and there are so many mosquitos at night that you really need to be indoors or you'll get attacked. -WIFI: it is so so awful. Patchy at best, and often not working in the room. I had to go to the bar area to use my laptop or to study, as it only works there. -The rooms: we had one of the more expensive rooms and i felt like it was really old fashioned and especially in the bathroom, they could utilise the space better. Also I stayed my mum and the fact the door didn't close properly (its like a swinging door without a lock?) caused some privacy issues. Sometimes there wasn't hot water also, only lukewarm. I know I wrote a lot of negatives, but I feel they are all fixable. If they can be addressed and fixed then I'm sure I could come back to the body hotel and have a wonderful stay as they are very lucky to have some great staff working for them. Sort the food out, update the rooms and train the restaurant staff better to deal with problems.

I had seriously high expectations for the body holiday but the hotel still managed to exceed them. The setting of the hotel is stunning and the staff are great. The food is delicious with a variety of options such a the deli for light snacks and smoothies or Tao for a smarter evening meal choice. The classes and treatments included are fantastic and cater for everyone. I genuinely couldn't recommend this place enough and will be back! The hotel also upgraded us to a fantastic sea view facing room which was amazing as we were celebrating our anniversary.
