Twenty- five of us left Trinidad for an all-inclusive Body Holiday experience in Saint Lucia, and to celebrate the retirement of a close relative. The flight was just one hour. When we arrived at the George Charles Airport, friendly Immigration officers greeted us. Some members of our group had already been cleared for entry into the island, so the Immigration officer already knew that we were part of the group. He asked my husband and me, “Are you here for the big party?” He stamped our passports and told us to have a wonderful time. When we stepped out of the airport after collecting our luggage two maxi taxis were waiting to take us to our destination. They were very modern and comfortable taxis. The pleasant driver pointed out places of interest along the way and chatted with us. When the taxis pulled up at the Body Holiday Resort and Spa, more friendly faces greeted us. One gave each of us a wet towel to freshen up and another served us with refreshing drinks of spices. They took our suitcases directly to our rooms so that we could be hands-free to stand and listen to a rundown of the hotel’s layout and activities. We were then escorted to our rooms. Impressed is too mild a word to describe our feelings when we saw the beauty of the expansive hotel, grounds, and closeness to the beautiful beach. We were blown away. I fell in love with the place. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, with winding paths surrounded by an abundance of exotic flowers and vegetation. There is a long stretch of beach with turquoise water and it complements the beautiful backdrop of the hotel rooms and restaurants. The different venues, which host the activities, are spread across acres of land. The hotel rooms were spacious with all amenities. There were no televisions as there was so much else to do at the resort. I can only briefly describe the activities in which we were involved. You had to be there to experience each moment, which went by too quickly for the short weekend we spent there. Day 1 1. A fabulous tea in the room 2. Walk on the beautiful beach 3. Buffet Barbecue Dinner 4. Dance Party until the wee hours of the morning. Day 2 1. Buffet Breakfast 2. Shopping downtown. 3. A trip to the healing Sulphur Springs. The enthusiastic taxi driver gave us a tour of the island for 2 hours before arriving at the Springs where we spent only one hour. It took another two hours to get back to the hotel. The driver explained that St Lucia has a population of only 170,000 people and their main income came from tourism and bananas. 4. Retirement dinner and dance party. My husband fell ill after that five-hour trip and had his dinner in the hotel room. When the thoughtful restaurant supervisor heard from me of his illness she sent his food right away. Day 3 1. Buffet Breakfast 2. Massages at the Spa. We were taken on a golf cart to the spa, which is a separate area on the resort. There are in-house taxis to get there also. 3. Buffet lunch 4. Check out of the hotel, and back to the airport for our flight home. Checking out of the hotel was just as easy as when we arrived. Helpful bell boys took our luggage from the rooms and packed them in the taxi for us. The weekend was too short but it was one of the most productive and wonderful weekends in my life. St. Lucia is a lovely Island and the Body Holiday and Spa Resort is one of the many resorts there. As I walked around the beach area, I saw people doing tai-chi at one end of the resort. Some were playing tennis and beach volleyball. Others were sitting on a flotation device while a friendly server swam out to take them drinks and a few others indulged in snorkeling. There were even boat rides around the island. Everyone greeted each other and the atmosphere was one of togetherness and friendliness. Thanks to our niece, Andrea, for organizing this wonderful trip. I am looking forward to spending an entire week there so that I can take part in many more activities. Tips: Take along bug spray, as you will be in the middle of a rainforest. Try not to go in rainy season as parts of the hotel are not covered and although umbrellas are provided the floor connecting areas can be slippery.

This is a fantastic resort with the friendliest staff who know how to make you smile and feel special. I'm fortunate to have been 3 times now and feel so welcome and at home every time. It is a very sociable resort and you'll find it's easy to mix with people at a class, activity around the pool, spa or bars whether your single a couple or part of larger group. There are so many things to do and you can do as little or as much as you want just remember to take time to enjoy your daily spa treatment. The Bodyguards are very fit and while they can push you to your limits (Marlene, Martin, Gracious) they make it really fun. The guys and girls who serve the pools, beach, bars, Clubhouse, Cariblue and the Deli are great and can't do enough for you with a special mention to "Dr Javed" who always looked after his "patients" and helped to make this another memorable holiday. Thank you.

The Body holiday With a focus on health and wellness, the Body Holiday's mantra is to give them your body and they will give you back your mind. Does it live up to the hype and is the price worth the cost of admission? The quick answer: Yes. A welcoming, all inclusive hotel that has made the right investments and paid attention to what people expect most from this hotel - location, service, quality, and that special something that leaves a lasting impression. While you are spending more than the typical all-inclusive vacation, nothing is compromised as a result of it as far as quality and service. If you are someone interested in longer, more thorough reviews, keep reading. So you know most people who travelled here think it's worth it, but is it worth paying more than double what your typical all-inclusive vacation in the Carribean would cost? Here's the breakdown. Before you get there - 5/5 Before you arrive, you have access to your own web room where you can customize parts of your stay prior to your arrival like choosing the time and type of spa treatments and the pillow you will be resting on for the week. You can reserve spa treatments two weeks in advance. Your personal webroom is also used to communicate with staff to answer questions about the hotel and the different programmes and activities they offer. The staff were helpful and quick to respond. It's a great idea that's unique and enhances the personalized travel experience. Getting there - 4/5 One you get off the plane, you need to suppress your excitement for a little longer. The Body Holiday is situated at the northern most part of St Lucia and the opposite end of the main airport (Hewanorra) so expect a solid 1.5 hr drive to the hotel by taxi. There are three forms of travel to and from the hotel. The shuttle which is normally included with your travel, private transfer ($99 US/person each way) and helicopter ($199 US/person each way). Which one to choose? I took a private transfer to the hotel and the complimentary shuttle included by my tour operator back to the airport. The shuttle took just as long as the private transfer, only carried 4 people, and saved me $99 US on the way back. If the shuttle was a bus of 30-40 passengers that stops at every hotel, you may want to consider the private transfer since the body holiday will be the last stop it is likely to make. The helicopter is a lot faster taking only 15 mins and offers a stunning perspective of the island landing at the George Charles Airport followed by a 20 minute cab ride to the hotel. Bear in mind, the chopper doesn't accommodate your luggage. TIP - Take the helicopter ride for the experience more than saving time or convenience as you need to factor getting on/off, and additional 20 mins for the cab ride, and it doesn't accommodate your luggage. Consider going one way instead of both, or saving the money all together and putting it towards the hotel's highly praised spa treatments or wine tasting. Taxis in St.Lucia don't run on meters so whether you are travelling to the hotel or using one to explore the island, you can probably negotiate a good price. Hotel Grounds 5/5 The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, with winding paths that are surrounded by an abundance of exotic flowers and vegetation which adds to the mantra of the hotel and showcases the natural beauty of the island. A nice stretch of beach and turquoise water compliments the beautiful backdrop the hotel rooms and restaurants are facing. The different venues which host the activities are spread across the acres of land which gives each area its own feel, encourages exercise and spreads the guests out never making it look overly crowded in any one spot. Tip: You are in the middle of the rain forest so equip yourself with bug spray. Hotel Rooms - 4.5/5 The hotel is said to have 155 rooms that range in style and size, most of which have been updated the last couple years - so it's not a huge and your not greeted by an overwhelming structure situated in the middle of the rainforest. It is no larger than 3 stories high and spread along one side of the property. My luxury garden view room was spacious and clean, featured all of the typical amenities one would expect, sufficient cupboard space, a well-tuned air conditioner, and a partial view of the ocean from the large balcony. There is no tv which is meant to assist in the 'zen experience'. The alarm clock acts like a docking station for an iPhone if you wanted to stream music instead. Wifi works well in the room. Where the hotel scores points are the custom pillows, turndown service accompanied by a different type of organic tea when your return to your room, and the Ren products they stocked the washroom with. The room is also equipped with a tablet that is loaded with the daily activities, supplementary programmes and services, and regular internet access. The luxury rooms are traditional in style contrast to the modern rooms that have been done with the suites you see on their webpage for example. The occasional baseboard have noticeably received several coats of paint over the years and could use a slight refresh, the couch has lost it shape a little over the long term and some people would prefer a walk in shower versus the tub which can be a little tricky to get in and out of. These are some things that some people might notice but are very minor. The room was still quite nice and well appointed, cool and clean, have everything you need, and you will get a comfortable sleep which makes up the majority of time you will spend in your room for this holiday anyway. They were smart for having rooms that cater to the solo traveller which you don't see often, and seems to be what attracts a lot of people to the hotel. There were plenty of solo travellers of all ages (over 18) and the hotel set up events and larger dining tables for those interested in sitting together for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Which acts as a good segue for the... Food 5/5 The quality and variety of food was one of the highlights. You could choose to eat completely healthy or not, or a little in between. Breakfast had a large buffet of warm and cold options. For lunch you had a choice of 2 buffets with dishes ranging from Indian to personalized stone baked pizzas, and a snack bar which served a host of snacks, salads, wraps and vitamix juices to choose from. Dinner offered formal menu at one location, a quasi-menu/buffet options at the other, and one reserved evening at their signature restaurant called TAO. All were very good. Any room for complaints? There were some items on the menu that cost extra where some would argue why it's not included. For some of the items I would agree, but there's enough good food to choose from that it's not worth arguing about it my opinion. TIP - Their signature dessert at TAO is their molten lava cake but it takes 20 mins to prepare. When you place your order for dinner, choose the cake right away so that you get it right after your main meal and avoid having to wait. Mentioned earlier, there are both healthy and less healthy options to choose from and while they advocate a healthy regime, you don't need to feel guilty about having a burger or finishing with a dessert. In fact, if there is any time to cut into a creme brûlée, its after you have just exercised for 5 hours. On the exercises... Service 5/5 Staff serving the bar, restaurants, front desk, beach, rooms, groundskeepers etc are incredibly kind, hard working and helpful. They were attentive, welcoming and responsive to your needs. They were very personable to new and returning guests. Activities 5/5 Their excellent, and here's why: Again it's about the quality and variety. Yoga, Tai-chi, hiking, biking, tubing, tennis, golf etc. etc. etc. There are tons of classes and activities with varying degrees of difficulty to choose from. It was difficult to feel bored or repetitive, and if at any point it did, you can chill on the beach - not a bad consolation. Activities is a big draw to stay at the hotel so it's important to get these right and meet the high level of expectations people have and paid for. And they did. Part of the success for these activities are to have people who know what they are doing. A class of adults are less likely to take direction and stay motivated by instructors who don't seem to know what they are doing. This is not the case. The instructors or 'body guards' were skilled and knowledgeable. Some represented St. Lucia or their country at a professional level including at the last olympics in Rio. I felt motivated but not intimidated to get out and try mostly everything. I never felt obligated to fill my entire day doing sports and exercises. The beach, pool and patio area were always full of people relaxing and don't get pressured with blaring music or people with megaphones to come and do aqua fitness. I also really like having them spread throughout the resort and in some cases isolated from one another. Nestled in the rain forest and manicured greens made the walk from one end to the other an experience in and of itself. I'm not one to name drop, but I have to compliment Edwin, who was an incredible golf instructor that helped me with my mental and physical game. The lessons were complimentary with the stay but was the quality of a clinic you would normally pay a premium for. This is what a lot of people come here for and they didn't disappoint with respect to variety, quantity and quality. If there was one recommendation, it would be to that there are many people frequently using their equipment which comes natural wear and tear over time, and to make sure that their equipment remain updated and maintained. Ensuring that their bikes are serviced regularly, clubs and rackets are in good shape etc will help maintain the level of standard people are expecting. Beach 5/5 Great beach, soft sand and plenty of loungers available. Staff set you up with an umbrella, towels for your loungers, a cold bottle of water in a bucket of ice and willing to get you a drink within a couple minutes of placing a flag in the sand. The water is a beautiful turquoise, calm for the most part, and has some decent snorkelling along the right side. Spa (Complimentary) 4.5/5 The massages and treatments were great, and because of the amount of activities you are doing on a daily basis, they were also very much needed. You are not guaranteed the same masseuse or person applying your treatment and inevitably their skills vary slightly but myself and others I spoke to were impressed with the services they received overall. They and others recommended some of the paid treatments which I didn't partake in, but will seriously consider it next time around. They also have an infrared treatment that is at your disposal and doesn't require a reservation. Tip: If you choose to get a scrub treatment do it in the first two days that you arrive, it doesn't feel very nice when your skin gets tender from the sun. Also, if you are invited to the cruise, rearrange your treatment asap as others will be trying to do the same. You do not have to tip for services that are included at the hotel including spa treatments. Tipping is at your discretion for the extra treatments. Overall 4.5/5 As I walked around watching people doing tai-chi at one end of the resort, playing tennis and beach volleyball in another, others sitting on a flotation device while a server swims out to bring them drinks, greeting each other with smiles as they walk past each other to and from classes or on the general promenade, and engaging in conversations on the deck during tea time as the sun sets on the beach you feel like something is different here. It was like a camp for adults, a special club where everyone was respectful - no attitude, entitlement or pretentiousness. It was an opportunity for people to remove themselves from the hustle and bustle, unplug and enjoy themselves..the effect of people getting their minds back. The trip is what you make of it. The more you immerse yourself in the activities and concept, the more you are likely to enjoy your stay. So is it worth the time and investment? With an 85% return rate, most people seem to think so, and after spending a week here, you can add me to that list.

This place is amazing. I was a single female traveller and was made to feel like royalty. All the staff and other guests were very friendly. The food is amazing, the daily spa treatments which are included in the price of the holiday are amazing and I didn't need to spend any extra money whilst there. If I had to find one thing that could be improved it would be that the shower in my room needed to be refitted as whilst very functional it was tired. I've been home a day and am already planning when I'll be going back.

We just returned yesterday from our THIRD visit to BodyHoliday. We LOVE LOVE LOVE this resort. It's not so big that you feel lost and unimportant nor too small to where you feel claustrophobic or bored. We were initially sold on the daily spa treatments that are INCLUDED in the rate. However, to our surprise, we were won over by the friendly staff, the awesome "Bodyguards" (trainers/coaches/facilitators)-shout out to Joel, Marline, Mindy, Gerald, Gracious, Clavi, Shaun (missed you this year, Donna) who are all (staff included) more like our family, and the outstanding activity options, wonderful food, and entertainment. We love coming during Jive June (the only time of the year we dance, lol) and this year we got to experience dance classes with the awesome Jennifer Benavidez, Robin Windsor, Mila Lazar, and Renetta Fredericks along with great bands as the evening entertainment. The bonus is making new friends with our fellow guests and meeting up with old friends we've met on our previous visits who come back around the same time each year. We're already planning our fourth trip......countdown has begun!!! ~Jermaine and LaJoya
