What was great.... Seaside suite (our room, but all rooms looked good), cleanliness, pools, river, beach, sea, gardens, food and drinks, all inclusive package, staff, activities offered, taxi transfer from the airport, kittens, low season uncrowded atmosphere, weather....rain showers were fun, often a release from the heat, summer breezes.... What was not great....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

We attended in early August and were thrilled with our choice. We stayed in the basic room for the first night and were quite happy. Issues with the hot water caused them to change our room. We received an upgrade that was well worth the inconvenience of having to move after one day. No other glitches occurred during our stay. The room was clean, had a large terrace, and a great view of everything. Service was exceptional. All the staff were friendly and consistently did everything they could to make us comfortable and enjoy our stay. The resort was clearly nowhere near capacity, so lots of space and no waiting for anything. There were lots of activities throughout the days but we typically stayed on the beach or by the pool. We enjoyed one day trip snorkeling. I'll add, because of previous comments, that we experienced no issues with bugs at any time during our stay (never used bug spray). The food was also the best I have ever encountered at a resort. They clearly emphasize quality over quantity. The portion sizes were appropriate and the food was fresh and exceedingly well prepared. All of the restaurants were excellent. Bartenders were also knowledgeable. Lots of premium drinks and plenty of times for champagne testing and fun mixology time. Overall, a great beach, great room, great food, and great service. Addendum: I would add that the trip from the airport to the hotel (long) and the airport itself when we were departing (crowded, busy, poorly equipped, and ridiculously poor air quality) were the low-points of the entire experience.

Rendezvous is a beautiful property in every way, nestled in the middle of its own two mile stretch of white sandy beach and within short driving distance of many of the islands excursions and attractions. This is a couples hotel and they fully cater for romance and privacy but if you want to get involved in lots of different group or couples activities such as archery, dance lessons, yoga, tennis, water sports, scuba/snorkelling, party/bar games etc. then you can and the staff are very good at keeping you informed on the daily activities but are never pushy or forceful with it. The hotel like a lot of resorts is located on the northern part of the island, the airport is in the southern, with a lot of mountains and jungle in between. I don’t think the coach transfer is as long or as bad as people say it is (approx. 70/80 mins) but my advice would be to pay the extra for the helicopter transfer. We experienced both the helicopter and coach transfer and I did wish that I had booked it for both ways. The hotel itself is small to medium size, I would guess that there are perhaps 100 or so rooms but at no point did it feel busy or overcrowded, there is plenty of space around all the bars, restaurants and pools and beach. From our experience most of the guests like ourselves were from the UK but there were couples from the US and Canada as well. It was a mix of young, middle aged and older couples and everyone was very friendly and up for a laugh, especially around the bar in the evening. We had a standard garden view room and it was of a good size, we were really happy with the cleanliness and layout of the room, it was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was big and extremely comfortable with a choice of pillows. The bathroom could have done with a couple of extra square feet but it did its job well and was kept sparkling clean the whole 10 days. The tropical gardens, pools (two swimming pools and a lazy river pool) and communal areas are spotless and beautiful and the hotel effortlessly blends into the palm tree covered beach giving a real Caribbean paradise escape vibe which we loved. The locals are very friendly, not many are around during the week but at the weekends a lot of the kids play on the rocks directly opposite the hotel, they didn’t cause any bother, yes they were a little noisy and some would ride their horses across the beach but they never bothered anyone and if you talked to them or walked by you’d get a friendly hello or high five. The beach is public like all in St. Lucia however the hotel security patrol it all day and only allow 2 to 4 locals to sell to the guests. We had two very nice guys who would make bird sculptures out of leaves and coconut shells, they would sell to you once then the rest of the time they would just walk by and ask you how you were. The only other person was a musician called Mitcham who played reggae songs on his guitar for us for about 30 minutes by the rocks – he has some amazing stories!. You won’t be bothered or annoyed by people selling things or the locals here, it’s all a very slow easy going atmosphere and you could tell the locals respected and were friends with the security staff. The staff are by far the most polite and well trained out of all of the places I have been in the Caribbean. I believe their professionalism and dedication to their job is what edges over the hotels I’ve been to in Antigua, Jamaica and the Bahamas. A lot of them have diplomas or degrees in hospitality from colleges and universities in the UK, Canada and other places around the world. They come across as genuine and will bend over backwards to ensure you have the best holiday possible and most importantly they will take a few minutes out of their busy day to sit down next to you and have a conversation! Not many hotels have staff that care that much about the guests. For dining there is the main buffet restaurant and they have a Caribbean BBQ once a week on the beach. All of the food on offer at the buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner is of a very high standard. The jerk chicken wings were a particular favourite so look out for those. The restaurant on the beach is walk in for lunch but must be booked in advanced for dinner. You don’t have to wear shoes as it’s on the beach which was lovely, at dinner however there were a lot of sand flies which can bite, pack insect repellent! Then there is the most formal restaurant Trysting Place which is French again all the food and wine is of a very high standard and with the service I’d struggle to think of anything they could improve on! The hotel is modern and comfortable yet rustic and traditional, it has a very beautiful beach and some of the best staff in the Caribbean. You have the option to do as little or as many activities as you want so it is perfect for a couple who want to relax on the beach one day but spend the next day paddle boarding, snorkelling, yoga, going to the gym etc. The weather is hot and tropical, rain was intermittent but brief throughout the 10 days we had one day where it was rainy/stormy/overcast but the rest of the 10 days were sunny and hot. St Lucia is perhaps a little more unpredictable with weather due to the fact it is covered in rain forest so you may get more uninterrupted sunshine in places like Antigua but St Lucia is by far the more beautiful island.

Beautiful resort, quite place with outstanding beach. Ground and the room are spotless, friendly workers. Why is it 4 star, because we find not to much choose about food. Limited, but it comes of size of the resort, I guess.
