The Good: The beach close to hotel rooms, snorkeling was great, the hammock in the water, the Sky Bar (rooftop),Highly recommend the French Restaurant. The workers were all very pleasant and helpful until....our room got flooded, don't get me wrong they dried it up. We always had plenty of towels in our room which is greatly appreciated. The door was too small for the door opening so that is why all the water blew in.. so we kept towels at our door incase of another rain and it did and rain water got in our room again. The Pools were nice. The Notso Good: You pretty much have to go thru the lobby to get the food areas in Secrets... Your first day or 2 they hound you to talk to them about buying into vacation club or time and excursions.. when you say no that should be it. the food average, no big buffets if that is your thing, we go to Mexico to eat Mexican... 1 night on the beach was Mexican.. the snack bar at the sister Sabor had the most Mexican on the menu. the rest of the restaurants were ok, not impressed with the seafood at all at the Oceana. The morning buffet was the most food if breakfast is your thing.. not really ours. Our room got flooded from rain, complained.. they said come the next day they could see if they could move us.. we were there with another couple had rooms next door to each other, they could of moved us that day to another area. Their room was flooded also. WE stayed in our rooms hassle to move the next day. The TV remote didn't work had to call for a new one of them.the drinks were ok. The entertainment was only 2 nites and not as impressive as other entertainment we have seen at other Resorts in Play De Carma. The Lazy River is just that Lazy it does not move.. You move yourself in the Lazy River... We spent most of our time at the sister resort Sabor.. the lounges at the beach area better than the lounge lawnchairs at Secrets. It was for kids at this resort seemed to have more music playing than Secrets.. The swim up bar if that is your thing is not at the adult Resort but at the Kids Sabor Resort the snack bar at the resort for kids you could get food there anytime.. highly recommend the vanilla icecream.. made with real vanilla I am sure... Would not go back to Secrets.. would not go back and stay in Cozumel.. enjoyed just going for the day on other trips will do that again... Rented a Jeep from Fox Car dealers recommend them.

We had a great relaxing time at Secrets. The entertainment staff was great. The wait staff at Oceana could have had better service at breakfast. It didn't seem to matter how much we tipped, service was the same. Windows had great service and went above and beyond. Relaxing on the beach and snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding right at the resort was amazing. Take your water shoes. It's sandy but it is rocky due to the reef. We did not see the benefits of the Preferred upgrade. A few staff that complimented the stay... Mr. G and his crew- lots of fun! Martha- very friendly Rodrigo- Preferred check in- went above and beyond and remembered our names.

Secrets Aura is a very relaxing environment with an entertainment staff that keeps is lively enough to not get bored. There is sand volleyball, water volleyball, salsa lessons, water aerobics and a host of other activities available on the property all day long for those interested. There are also complimentary paddle boards, kayaks and snorkel gear available to check out. There are two scuba dive companies to arrange some of the worlds most beautifully diving with and they pick you up from the dock directly off the beach at the hotel. Also..the staff are wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Secrets Aura for our 28th wedding anniversary.

This place is lucky if it is a one star resort. My girlfriend got sick the first night we were here. Not booze related. Food related. Has spent the last two days in bed. We have 8 more days here and regretting booking here. Room service is sub par. Called not many times for water and told we are busy. 4 hours later still no water. Save your money and go somewhere else. I wish I had!!

We traveled October 9 through 12. The pros: The staff are fabulous. Their every response was "my pleasure." We were met at check-in with a cold wash cloth and a glass of champagne. When that ran out they quickly asked if we wanted something else to drink. Check-in was fast and efficient. We arrived early so our room wasn't ready and they walked us to lunch. We had a romantic beach dinner and Manuel was amazing. He was friendly and conversational when asked. He offered up champagne, after dinner drinks. He was delightful, offering to take lots of pictures for us. Carlos at the Skybar gave us and another couple a history lesson about Tequila. He was so welcoming every time we arrived. The beach service was attentive. The lovely lady who kept getting our drinks for us - her name escapes, me it was very long and started with a V...was very attentive!! The snorkeling just in inches of the water right off of the beachfront was amazing! We saw so many kinds of fish. People post so many complaints about the rocks on the beach, but that just makes the snorkeling so much better. We saw starfish and giant angels, etc. The bad news- the property is so old and outdated, that no amount of beautiful furniture can help. It's like putting lipstick on a pig. The property feels gross. I saw people cleaning everyday but it was still dirty-looking because of the age. We had to force open our door everyday. The smell everyone complains is about I found out is from the island's mangroves and no fault or control of the hotels in the area. It still smells bad, nonetheless. The pool grout was either black or green with algae or mold. The hot tub wasn't on 2 of the days we were there. Because the resort is so small, restaurants choices were slim. We were only there 4 nights and 2 of those nights the Sushi restaurant was closed. Our t.v. was teeny and had a white spot in the middle so watching was rough after a long day of fun. Window seals in our room were broken sold mold and dirt had gotten between them. the first night we had no hot water in the shower. We complained and it was fixed. We heard someone else complain at the front desk about the same thing and it seems to be another recurring theme of these reviews. Our jets in the tub didn't work. We complained about that but those were not fixed. We did sit through the timeshare, even though when you say that they call it something else. They admit they know that it's the "ugly duckling" of the brand. So why continue to operate it???? I will never go back and it's a shame because the staff are just amazing. It's not their fault the company isn't renovating quickly enough.
