Secrets Aura Cozumel

absolutely gross , the rooms have mold and the tubs dirty and no drains and jacuzzi in the 4 rooms we were shown none of them worked , we had no hot water in 1 room . the amenities, bikes / tennis equip paddle boards not available . Food options limited and restaurant's closed every other day for no real reason. This is prime time for travel. Also the pool for my 2 week stay was dirty with mold and sand chipped and broken pool tiles everywhere... this is a resort i would give 2-3 stars . the pier and view was amazing ,and good luck getting a clean pool towel in the am. hold on to yours from the night before.

We had high hopes for Secrets Aura Cozumel, but unfortunately our experience did not meet the expectations of a resort in this category. The food was very inconsistent. Outside of the reserved hibachi dinner, which was excellent, the quality across the other restaurants and buffet was poor. On multiple nights, we waited between 1.5 to 2 hours just to be seated or served, which was extremely frustrating. Our first night was also very stressful due to a major maintenance issue. Our shower overflowed and flooded the entire bathroom, leaving us standing in about an inch of water while getting ready. It took over an hour and a half for anyone to respond and resolve the issue. We were also very concerned about food safety. Birds were frequently seen landing on the buffet food, which was both unhygienic and unappetizing. Most importantly, we have a seafood and shellfish allergy, and despite informing staff, we experienced multiple instances of cross-contamination and neglect. This was not just a potential risk — it became a real medical issue. We were forced to seek medical treatment, receive a cortisone shot, and pay out of pocket due to the reaction caused by the resort’s food handling. While the resort has beautiful grounds and friendly staff, the operational and food safety issues significantly impacted our stay. With better management and attention to detail, this property could be much better.

Third time we've stayed at the resort and I'm sure we'll be back again. Each time we book, we hesitate because the reviews are mixed and the star rating isn't as high as I normally expect. The star rating is more a reflection of what people are comparing it to (often newer hotels on the Cancun side) vs a reflection of the hotel itself. We come to Cozumel for the scuba and we come to Secrets because we want all inclusive, adults only, and something out of town that isn't 10 feet from the airport. If that's what interests you I think you'll be happy. Thoughts vs prior visits: The hotel is growing. There is now a "dreams" family friendly sister hotel next door on the other side of Sabor. Sabor was in the middle of a massive remodel. They share dining services so the room service menu is identical at each, there's a logo that they seem to share, and it just feels like they're slowly blending them together. We were irritated on arrival to be told they overbooked the hotel and couldn't give us a room at Secrets...what we had booked. We were instead put in the family friendly Dreams and given "preferred" perks (not something we cared about). I chose not to complain and just see how it went. It was fine. The rooms over there are newer or recently updated. We just walked back over to Secrets everyday (maybe 5 minute walk) to enjoy the adults only vibe. Whether you stay at Dreams or Secrets you get access to all the restaurants so a big upside is that there are now more restaurant choices overall which is great...but we still ate every meal other than breakfast at Secrets. More restaurants is nice on paper but not if I'm giving up the quiet relaxing meals I came for. We were disappointed to see the hotel continues to push a 2 hour sales pitch the moment you arrive. Just politely decline, we always skip it. Food: Met or exceeded expectations most of the time. The lone exception is the Market Cafe....friends don't let friends eat at the Market Cafe. We had the same thoughts when we tried it years ago and it has not improved...we walked out after taking a couple bites. Room service is also pretty meh but we ordered it a few times anyway for a late night snack. Overall service was ok but not as good as I remember. For example more than half the staff did not greet us when we walked by (though many did). Water was also rarely brought by default when sitting down at a restaurant, and while we didn't mind waiting a bit longer for food we were not checked on often so I would go to the bar to get a drink even in a restaurant. Honestly the restaurant servers where the most underwhelming part and they're usually a highlight. I gave them some grace because it's the busy season. Like I said at the top, we fully plan to return. The good still offsets the bad by a longshot.

Perfect resort for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts! Hundreds of fiah and even rays right from the pier. Plenty of food and drinks choices and an entertainment team that kept things fun, especially Heydy, Wendy, Irvin, Aaron and Temo. Don't miss the entertainment highlights, Mayan show and the band Showtime. The band was absolutely fantastic!!.

My husband, myself and 2 other couples just got back from Cozumel (January 2026). This is our second time staying at Secrets Aura Cozumel! We absolutely love it! If you are looking for high maintenance resort, this probably isn't for you. If you are looking for a chill place to relax, place your butt in a lounger either by the pool or on the beach with a cocktail in hand...then this is definitely the place for you! We had a beach view room on the 3rd floor that overlooked the pool and the ocean. It was beautiful! We had cold air conditioning, hot water with amazing pressure. The king size bed was really comfortable! The housekeeping kept us in fresh towels and stocked up with water and assorted soda and beer in the mini fridge. The food was great! The staff always checks for food allergies. We were not preferred; however, we couldn't tell the difference as we were able to go to most of the restaurants and had no problems. The entertainment team (E Team) was EXCELLENT! Especially Wendy! She is such a doll and had everyone up playing water volleyball, water aerobics, beach yoga, beach games and all the evening entertainment was fun! Wendy always had a smile on her face and genuinely cared about us. We also loved Aaron; he was our favorite the last time we were at Secrets three years ago! He is now a supervisor for the entertainment staff! The Barefoot Grill was our go to food choice during the day as they will bring it poolside or beachside! The wait staff was great making sure we had drinks while sitting on the beach or b the pool. They do have towels by the beach; however you need to get up early to grab some or you will have to wait. We learned to grab fresh ones for the next day the night before. If you want a good spot, you have to go early (around 8). The best thing about Secrets, besides it is kid free, is that everyone is very friendly and the views are absolutely breathtaking! You can snorkel right in front of the resort!!! If you decide to dive or go on an excursion, they will pick you right up outside of Secrets as they have a pier! Be prepared to have water shoes, when you step out in the water, it is rocky as the coral reef is right there. The only downside we found was you got a whiff of sewer every once in a while. We defiantly will be back as we love Secrets Aura!
