Secrets Aura Cozumel

Secrets Cazemul while being a good place to stay, it is showing its age. In reading other reviews that mention aging rooms, tired maintenance, sewage smells and outdated amentities, these are all true. The Staff are amazing! Courteous, friendly and professional. They make the establishment great and your stay fun. Overall, the setting is wonderful. Beautiful beaches, good choice of restaurants and activities. The Preffered Club is also lacking in value. The Preferred amenities are barely noticable and the Pool area is OVERCROWDED with too little seating.

Wonderful time … Beautiful beach Room was updated and clean. Guadalupe kept our room spotless. Had breakfast and lunch every day at the Oceana Sergio was amazing as well as Rosana ,Yonatan ,Elizabeth ,and Chef Ricardo . Had dinner at the Bordeaux and Dolores was also great! The employees really make your stay special and really care that you are taken care of and having a great time . Every meal we had was delicious. Wendy and Luce aka Lucy with entertainment team so fun . Yes the resort may be a little older … but still beautiful and charming.. but the employees make the resort truly special !! The Oceana team even made us special breakfast and lunches !

Nice relaxation place. Thank you all, We had a wonderful time. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Buffet team is great. Daiving amazing in this space, one of the best in the world. You can see different fish every time when you daive. Thank you all for wonderful time.

Immediately upon arrival we were put in a locked room (key needed & we hadn't checked in yet) with a relentless, aggressive, hard sell to book dinners, spa treatments & buy into other properties. Claudia would not take no for an answer and repeatedly disregarded me saying I was tired & hungry after traveling all day, and to stop. She badgered and went on and on forcing one to become rude to get her to just stop. Not a positive welcoming to start our vacation. There was a dirty food case with an unappealing small bun with a slab of ham & cheese. We would have preferred to wait at a restaurant on the beach while our room was being prepared for over an hour. There were never enough beach chairs. Other than the fresh fruit & omelets, I found most of the food disappointing, tasteless, greasy or overly salted & overcooked. There was construction next door so lots of noise & banging while eating at the main buffet restaurant or from the beach. There was no place to avoid music or banging. No quiet places with just nature sounds. Our room was musty with a sewer smell. We kept our doors open all the time for cross ventilation. Someone did notice once and brought help for the problem. They cleared a drain, but the sewage smell continued and got worse. Our clothing and bags smelled of it upon arrival home. The entertainment was cheesy (fire dancers/bad singers) and we were anxious to get out of the place to explore the island. Definitely do that if you are stuck in this place or one like it. Exploring the ruins, funky beach bars, great little town, & snorkeling saved the trip. All of that said, the ocean & beach were wonderful. Clean beach with crystal clear waters. No seaweed issue on this side of the island. The staff was always friendly and helpful. However, this property is in bad need of refurbishing & I am disappointed in my choice of property for my vacation.
