Unfortunately, our stay at Secrets Cozumel did not meet our expectations. The resort felt extremely outdated and not well maintained. Cleanliness was a major issue, and overall the property appeared worn and neglected. The food was also disappointing and well below what we expected from a Secrets resort. We stayed as Preferred Club guests, and it was absolutely not worth the extra cost. The added benefits were minimal and did not justify the upgrade in any way. We will not be returning. That said, most of the staff were genuinely kind and tried their best. However, it often felt like they were set up to fail due to poor management and lack of resources. Two standout employees were Enrique and Angel, bartenders in the Preferred Lounge, who provided excellent service and were consistently friendly and professional. Housekeeping was also good and did their best despite the overall condition of the resort. While we appreciated the efforts of the staff, the condition of the resort and overall experience fell far short of expectations.

They have an app that they want you to download and use while staying there. That tells you what is going on nightly and what restaurants are open. It would constantly crash. You would have to delete and reinstall it. The WiFi was spotty at best. There was practically no entertainment. What was provided didn’t last long and then resort would shut down. ( a band would play for a hour or karaoke for an hour, dj for an hour) The only place for drinks after the entertainment was at the preferred lounge until 10 or desires bar stayed open later. But it was All the way up a steep set of stairs. We up graded our package to preferred for the top shelf drinks. But was told constantly that they were out and didn’t know when they would get anymore. Every time you would get a drink they would make it different. It was either made with different alcohol or just different juices. So it always tasted different. Restaurants were shared with another resort (dreams) and closed every other night. So everyone was trying to go to the restaurants that only had 5-10 tables (hibachi only has one table seats 12 people) besides a long wait with all the others. Buffett was completely open to the ocean air so was very windy and cold food would get cold on your plate before you had a chance to eat it. Getting pool side food took two hours to get and was also cold. First few nights we had cold showers. Safe didn’t work in our room. To top it all off they don’t say that they are a smoke free resort anywhere on the site and that they only have one little smoking area when you get there. So 1/2 of our group was constantly having to walk clear to the other side of the resort. Would have never booked it knowing this. Pool was ice cold and very dirty. Paint on the side would stick to you if you sat to put your feet in. Not satisfied at all! Don’t go if you want any entertainment.

This is worst resort we have ever been to in Mexico! We have been to 12 different resorts none this bad! Food was bad, dri ks were really bad...over the top sugary. Activities people were not engaging or friendly at all, and the buildings and rooms were in disrepair!! DO NOT GO HERE! IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO GO .....TRY Valentin Imperial Maya Resort...... IT IS FANTASTIC!!

First of all, I have to be honest and say that I was nervous to arrive after reading all the negative reviews. When we arrived, there was a bit of a mix up and we were not given the room category we paid for. Although it was rectified by the front desk staff 2 days later, they were very apologetic and made it right, I am sure my travel agents email helped with that... ;) The PROS; Beach was nothing short of amazing, we snorkeled and the water was so clear and calm most days! The staff, (most of them) were so kind and helpful and always made a point to greet you and help with whatever you needed, the entertainment staff went above and beyond and made our days so much fun! Temu (nickname) was the best! always so positive! The resort itself was really nice, we had a swim up with a front slide and were in room 4211, it was clean and recently updated, we loved it! It is far from "falling apart" or a "complete dive" as mentioned by some guests. The cons (well kinda more so needs improvement) The food. I truly felt that there was not many options, only a couple restaurants to choose from with really long wait times as none besides the Teppanyaki takes reservations. The food itself also wasn't as bad and I expected, it filled us up, but I feel the buffet needs to offer more with better options and also open for dinner for those who don't want to wait 3 hours to get into the only other 3 choices. Lastly, I will mention that my Stanley Cup was stolen right off my balcony, my husbands glasses case was also taken and then thrown in the plants. This is not the resorts fault, but figured I would mention to warn others to NOT leave anything out you don't want taken. All in all, it was a good time. We have stayed at numerous secrets resorts throughout our travels, was this one the best? No, but for the price and beach alone, I would recommend !

Overall a pleasant experience. The rooms are tired but my understanding is that they are slowly remodelling. The staff honestly make the experience a positive one. Restaurants are good, drinks are ample and the beach is beautiful. If you are not expecting a 5 star resort but maybe a 3-5 you won’t be disappointed.

Truly a five star place - the resort never seemed crowded and maintained a quiet vibe. The food was outstanding at every meal. I would recommend this resort to anyone at any time without blinking. We will definitely return to this resort.
