The whole hotel complex was very tired looking, not up to par with other Secrets Hotels. Food was good but was not served very hot most times. Overall, the staff were excellent. They couldn't do enough for you.

Had the best time! The staff kept us busy and laughing. The food and staff (Miguel ) at Bordeaux were excellent. Went with a group of 10 and all had a great time. A few hiccups at the beginning and they were quickly solved. Can not wait to go back next year.

This property is more like a 2.5/3 star not even close to a 5 star . As soon as we arrived and used the lobby rest room I thought that we had made a huge mistake in booking this. The men's lobby bathroom was disgusting over flowing waste from the none stop running toilet with the over following waste basket urine covered floor no paper towel for you hands. I try the lower bath under the lobby bar it was even worse two sinks one(the right one) was over flowing and running on the floor and the other had no running water.. This is a 5 star? If the was in the USA it would have been shut down by the health department just for that alone. The pools could have been around 67/70 in temp to cold for most

We recently stayed at Secrets Resorts & Spas Cozumel and unfortunately would not return or recommend it to friends. Overall, the experience felt mediocre in nearly every aspect, and the property is in serious need of updating. From broken sidewalks and missing tiles to cracking paint and damaged pool chairs, there are many visible maintenance issues that contribute to an overall unclean, worn-down feel. Our arrival set the tone for the stay. The check-in agent was efficient but not friendly or welcoming. In contrast, the bellhop was the highlight of our arrival — warm, helpful, and genuinely pleasant as he assisted us with our luggage and keys. Dining was another disappointment. Restaurant waits were consistently long, and the food quality was just average. The hibachi grill — the only restaurant requiring reservations — was nearly impossible to book. Buffet offerings were often tasteless and lukewarm, with the omelet station at breakfast being the only consistent bright spot. Room service, however, was reliable and one of the better parts of the food experience. Pool and beach logistics were frustrating. Towels were scarce, and because there were not enough chairs for guests, people felt pressured to reserve seats early in the morning, grabbing up towels the night before. Bar service was solid, but access to top-shelf alcohol is restricted to Preferred Club members, who also receive access to an additional pool and lounge with snacks and upgraded drinks. The guest room had mixed positives and negatives. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows were not. Several maintenance issues stood out: a safe that didn't work, only cool water in the shower for half of our stay, an extremely loud air conditioner, and a broken bathroom fan and hair dryer. These details added up and detracted from overall comfort. The coffee café served good coffee in the mornings. The entertainment staff was energetic and clearly worked hard to engage guests, but seating for shows was extremely limited, forcing many people to stand. The on-site club, “Desires,” felt awkward and uninviting. When we visited one evening, there wasn’t even music playing. In summary, this resort falls far short of expectations for its category. With significant maintenance needs, mediocre food, inconsistent service, and operational shortcomings, we would rate it closer to a 1.5-star experience

I can see why this resort receives unfavorable reviews. It is old but that being said it should not smell (like pee) in places. They allow anyone in the preferred area (beach/pool). Yes, anyone, no bracelet to distinguish who paid more for preferred club. Food wasn’t the best. It the staff was amazing, truly! And I’m really not picky and I’ve never written a bad review.

Truly a five star place - the resort never seemed crowded and maintained a quiet vibe. The food was outstanding at every meal. I would recommend this resort to anyone at any time without blinking. We will definitely return to this resort.
