Secrets Aura Cozumel

Do yourself a favor skip this resort . Plenty of other resorts in Cozumel. Staff was great hotel itself dated and old. Won’t be back. Stay at the dreams (the sister resort if you need to)

The food was very good and the resort overall was nice. It is right on the beach which was a beautiful white sandy beach. The snorkeling right off of the resort was excellent but bring water shoes as the ocean floor is rocky but tons of fish to see. Our rooms were nice; however, some of our friends did not have hot water which was an issue. The activities were very fun especially the sand volleyball. The value for the Preferred Club was not apparent at this resort like other Secrets' resorts. The PC was far from the beach, the food there was not very good, and they did not offer an upgraded alcohol package.

I was in room 1041 preferred option. Room was great. One big problem was no hot water for my entire stay (week) for showers. The food and drinks were good, didn’t have issues any of that. If you want large buffet style eating then do not go here. The other resorts have better style buffets. Bring sand shoes for the ocean as it is rocky. Other restaurants have menu only. Based on Secrets Brand, needs work.

Preferred club pool bar poorly stocked and poorly staffed. Hotel was not busy but service was not very good. Lots of employees standing around talking with each other. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was disappointing to say the least. Poor selections and old tired food. Other restaurants weren't busy but we were told it would be a 2 hour wait unless we bought a $100 of wine. Then we could be seated immediately. This was a common topic of conversation among guests. On a bright note: Angel, the preferred club bartender inside is fantastic. Rooms were clean as you would expect. This was our 2nd time at his Secrets. 1st time was 4 years ago and it was much better. This was our last time.

Great location and beach. Dive shop onsite was convenient. The overall hotel needs renovation. It was probably a 4-5 star upon opening but is badly in need of repairs. Some basic functionality was lacking such as hot water in the shower. Friendly staff. Moped rental onsite was also very convenient. Food was ok, not great.
