We traveled to this resort for spring break with a family of 4 which we had 2 boys ages 20 and 17. We had the deluxe tropical view king with hot tub and a deluxe tropical view double with hot tub and they were connecting rooms which worked out perfectly. We traveled with 2 other families where their rooms were only near each other vs connecting which they were fine with since their kids are all older. The resort is ok - a bit run down but it worked for our stay and we're not too picky. It seems to cater to an older crowd, even for us in our late 40s. But we sure met some great people there no matter the age we all are. Our kids also had fun meeting and talking to people at the resort as it's always fun learning where people are from and how things are where they live vs where we live. The highlight easily is the ocean view - it's absolutely unbeatable. We skipped the Preferred Club and didn't feel like we missed much. There is a separate beach area and some reserved seating at events, but nothing that seemed worth the upgrade here. Food was average. Each night, one or more restaurants were closed, especially when plaza events were happening. Our favorite was Himitsu. Portofino was decent, and the buffet, Seaside Grill, and Barefoot Grill were just ok - more variety would help. Breakfast was limited, with only one omelet station (where they also made scrambled or over easy) and inconsistent options. We did go off-resort to Primos, which was excellent - the pizza was awesome! There wasn't much going on for nightlife so we were in bed early most nights. They did have some shows and great dancers, and some music but most of it ended pretty early. The late night sports lounge was questionable in terms of if staffing was in there and the odor of the bar since it was kinda hidden under the main level. Drinks were inconsistent in terms of how they were made and tasted it seemed, and without a swim-up bar, pool service could be slow. The servers were great regardless because of the amoutn of people they were trying to take care of around the pools...and to help solve for no swim up bar and quicker drinks in hand we just ordered 2 or 3 at a time for each of us. Bring pesos for tipping, as they're preferred. We also paid for an excursion (not through Amstar) with pesos. There is an ATM just down the road off resort that gives you pesos (across from Primos). The resort does not have an ATM onsite. There are 6 pools, including adults-only and infinity pools, but chair availability was a big thing. Typically most were taken by 7:30 and many already taken by 5:30am. Staff tried to help but you did see some chairs get stolen at times. Weather was absolutely perfect all week. Not a drop of rain and rarely a cloud in site. We also explored downtown (easy 100 peso taxi ride) and did a bays tour, which was a fun excursion. Language a definitely barrier for most but they the best they could to speak English and we wouldn't expect anything else when we're not from their country. We're appreciative for how much they were actually able to speak regardless. Our kids helped us the rest of the way. Overall, we enjoyed the trip mainly for the people we were with, the people we met, and the views. If we went back we'd try another resort on this particular bay.

This hotel was fantastic. I know some reviewers mention that it felt dated, but we did not get that vibe at all. The hotel was beautiful, modern, clean, and had fantastic views and the staff were wonderful. We were lucky enough to book a Junior Suite and I think it was the nicest room I've ever stayed in on a hot holiday. (I usually stay in 4* places and have been to many hot destinations including Mexico 6 or 7x.) It had a hot tub on the balcony which we used as our own personal "pool" on a few busier afternoons when we wanted a little more privacy. This was one of those places that getting the VIP component was totally worth it. Theirs was called The Preferred Club, and it gave us a separate beach area that came in handy as like most hotels, the towel taggers who drop their towels on a chair and leave for half the day were aplenty. But they monitored that at The Preferred Club beach section. This was where we met one of the staff, Alvaro, who made our stay extra special. He checked in with us every day to make sure we were happy with the services and went out of his way to ensure we had big smiles on our faces, even having a surprise dessert assortment delivered to our room one night. Alvaro really made our stay - it's been almost 2 months since we got back and we still think of him! Sandy was another staff member at The Preferred Club beach section that also went out of her way to make sure we had a chair, clean towels, and a smile on our faces! Having them there, and a waiter dedicated to this area to ensure we always had a cold drink, really made The Preferred Club worth it. On top of that, it gave you 24 hour room service, a separate sitting/bar area with snacks, and personalized check in/out service as well. We always had a stocked minibar with free beers and sodas, a clean room with lots of towels, and often flower petals arranged on the bed. There was always a good selection of different places to eat. The buffet was quite good, and we enjoyed checking out the different restaurants. We had 30 degree C weather every day for 2 whole weeks. We were able to swim in the bay every day and there were some snorkeling spots if you brought your own gear. There were some shops across the street as well as a few restaurants, one of which had fantastic tacos. It cost about 100 pesos to get to the city, so not expensive at all (~$7.50 Can) where we'd suggest checking out the market and beautiful church. We took pesos only as our currency but they do accept American cash. Don't forget to bring tip money - it's not always easy to get smaller denominations out there so plan ahead. We would recommend this hotel, and would stay again!

We had a great time at Dreams. One of the standouts for us as parents of two young girls, was the kids club. They had so much fun, and wanted to go back over and over. The babysitters/caretakers (Gaby, Dani, Beny, and Melissa) were so kind and sweet to our girls. It allowed us as parents to have some downtime while knowing our girls were in good hands and having a great time!

Graciela is hands down one of the best bartenders I've had! Super friendly, attentive, and knew exactly what to recommend. Every drink was made pendulum and you can tell they really care about their craft. Made the whole experience fun and welcoming - definitely coming back because of them!

Pros: The beach was beautiful, the pools were nice. The kids club was a lifesaver. The spa was a nice break and very relaxing. Cons: the facility could use some updates. Peeling paint, broken elevator button and uncomfortable beds and pillows.
