Great hotel, amazing staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 13 hours ago

Beautiful weather and beach. The staff are kind and attentive, especially Mildred at the Blue Bar, Chantal at the information desk, and Catherine at the tour desk. Being a diamond member is definitely beneficial when coming here. Also upgrading to an enclave room is nice for the perks of the exclusive pool, bar and beach.

Great holiday, fabulous resort and service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Holiday review Review of our recent stay. Adult Side - Rooms: 2334 & 2342 We have recently returned from a lovely two week break at this resort, staying on the adult side. We previously visited when it was under Dreams (approx. 8 years ago), so the adult side was completely new and ideal for us. Pros: The staff are all fabulous and really will go out of their way to help you with any queries you may have. The entertainment team work tirelessly and long hours, ensuring everyone is well entertained and enjoying themselves. (Big shout out to Johenny at the adult side pool bar who was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay). We are missing our ‘Johenny Especials’!!! The food was very good for most of our meals despite some of the bad reviews from others. Caoba (buffet) had plenty of choice and we loved the fact that the cooked food was served to you. Personally I found it to be far more hygienic and less wasteful, although sadly we still witnessed some going back and loading plates with salad items or desserts and then leaving them having hardly touched them. Sakura (Asian) - visited 3 times (main restaurant) was good although on our first visit we found it to be extremely noisy from the Japanese dining side (we have previously done this and felt we did not want to do it again). Service was good and the Spring Rolls and Teriyaki Salmon were to die for. Other half loved the Bento Boxes! Azzurri (Italian) - visited 3 times and was brilliant. We really enjoyed all our visits to this restaurant and our waiter; Edwin was fabulous. The food was very good, especially the tiramisu dessert! Mare (Fish) - visited 3 times. The first meal was great, our second dining experience was not as good and the third was terrible from the food to the service. 😞 We all ordered the cod for the main meal and they all arrived completely different. Some with vegetables, some without. One with a ratatouille style veg and another with potatoes wedges. The worst was my piece of cod which was practically cold and tasted dreadful. By the time a new dish had arrived the other family members had finished their meal. Noor (Mediterranean) - visited twice. First dining experience was amazing, unfortunately we could not say the same for the second visit. The Grill - visited once and although the service was good we thought the meal was ‘okay’. The pizza shack on the family side was great for lunchtimes when we didn’t want to go into the buffet. MOH loved the burgers from the burger and nachos hut and said the meat was so good and even better than the meat in the UK. Thursday paella on the beach (adult side) was amazing. There were also other dishes served each day (weather permitting) for those not wanting to go to the buffet or Mare restaurant for lunch. Aroma Cafe on the adult side - the ladies that served us each morning were so lovely and friendly. We loved our daily visit for our Caribbean Frozen Lattes with Rum 😊 and freshly baked pastries and miss them terribly 😞 The resort is spotless and everyone works so hard to keep the whole place looking so beautiful from the gardens to the rest rooms. Cons: We had a few instances during our stay in both rooms (evenings) with cockroaches, but reception arranged on all occasions for them to be fumigated the following day. Obviously we were staying in a tropical country so expected to maybe have a visitor (although this is the first in ten visits to DR). Even the receptionist was surprised that they were getting in being that we were on the top floor. They also mentioned the current issue they are experiencing with mosquitoes due to the wet and humid weather. Our fridge was not replenished daily with fizzy pop or beer, just water. But to be honest, when staying in an AI resort and being able to drink all day from 10am if desired, this really didn’t bother us enough to leave a note for the maid or mention to reception, it would have just been nice to have it replenished. Advice - take plenty of one dollar bills for tipping. The staff really do appreciate receiving a tip for their service and they work so hard to keep you hydrated and fed. It’s a shame that we witnessed many of the guests being quite rude to members of staff in the way that they spoke to them and wouldn’t even leave a dollar on the table or bar. Take LOTS of repellent. You do get a small spray in the bathroom, however it didn’t serve two of us for two weeks. Having said this, unfortunately the deet spray in the bathroom, room plugins, Jungle Formula and other roll ons, sprays and mozzi bands did not prevent us being bitten multiple times by noseeums, sand flies, tiny ants and mozzies this time round. I’m normally the bait for getting bitten, however the others were eaten quite badly during this visit. Communication - most of the staff speak English and if they don’t understand will generally try to find another member of staff to help, however, if you are not a Spanish speaker, try and learn a few words before arriving. The staff love it when you try to communicate in their native language. The beaches are beautiful and so well kept. We loved our sea swimming experience with the pelicans flying around and dive bombing within a few meters of us bathing. Pool/Beach towels are available daily from 8am (on the beach). We appreciated being able to have freshly laundered towels daily and just popped them in the towel bins at the end of our day, it’s just a shame that some individuals would just leave them screwed up on beds and some even on the floor. All in all, this resort is truly fabulous and cannot recommend highly enough to those who have not been before and are thinking of booking. Just a few photos attached of our stay 😊

Great service and experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had a great time at this property and want to give a specific shout out Mildred (Enclave pool bartender), Yucerda and Gregory (French restaurant- by far the best at the resort, and the best concierge, Victor Val, who took care of us from the second we got to the property to the literal second we left. Many other fine servers and staff but these 4 definitely stood out the most!

Team Blue Bar!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The Team Blue bar at the Enclave pool was the best when it came to customer experience. Very nice and personable. Mildred-Olga was the best bar tender ever! She fixed me a special drink that she only knew about and it was delicious! She was awesome!
