Here is our take on our New Years Eve 2026 vacation. Booked a last minute trip with my teenage son to celebrate his upcoming grade 12 graduation. We wanted direct flights, a wide beach with lovely sand and nothing that was too overrun with smaller children. Booked into a Fiesta Club King Oceanview suite. There were no double queen rooms left since I had booked so last minute, sothey brought up a rollaway bed for my son who said it was quite comfortable. Upon arrival we were sent straight to the 7th floor where concierge Javier got us checked in and took us directly to our room on the 8th floor. We were coming from snow and bitter cold so for us this trip was all about the beach and the view. The room we got definitely delivered. Stunning oceanview from the moment we walked into the room. Sunken jetted tub on the balcony with a table and two chairs. Bathrobes and slippers were available and the fridge was stocked with soda, water and beer. As we had a club suite, we also had access to the 7th floor bar area with snacks provided throughout the day. The resort bars don’t open until a bit later so a perk of having access to the the club was grabbing an early morning hot chocolate from the buffet or coffee shop and having the 7th floor bartender add a little Baileys that o enjoyed as I took my early morning walk down the beach. Hotel has a huge expanse of beach in front. Like at most resorts, there are vendors walking around however they will leave you alone if you aren’t interested. Jet ski rides available on the beach but didn’t see any other water sports. Beach and pool drink service is available. They will also bring you burgers, fries, hot dogs and tortilla chips to your lounger. If you want more selection, the Grill, the buffet, and Greek restaurants are open for lunch. We loved the fact that there are no reservations required for dinner in any of the a la carte restaurants. You simply show up. Even during busy holiday week, we never waited more than 5 minutes Every week different ones are open different nights so if you really want to eat in a specific restaurant, you would want to plan ahead. There is a posting in the lobby that shows what’s available as well as a QR code you can use on your phone. We loved that we could walk down and go to whichever one we felt we wanted at that moment. So easy. We found the restaurants to be as good as other all-inclusive we’ve been to throughout Mexico and Caribbean. Portions are fine for most people but my hungry teenage boy would just order two entrees and no one batted an eye. We really enjoyed the Mexican and Sushi restaurants the most but the Mediterranean wasn’t our favourite. The buffet wasn’t as expansive as others we have been to. You certainly won’t starve but it didn’t have quite the variety we have had elsewhere. However, breads and pastries were delicious and you can get bacon from the omelet station. Pancakes, fruit, waffles, potatoes, and plenty of Mexican inspired dishes were available. We don’t like everything we ate but that’s the case in any buffet. Thankfully, even when the resort was at capacity, there was no huge rush to grab loungers either by the pool or by the beach. Plenty were left until about 10:00am. It looks like the hotel has just replaced the towels as they are huge and very new. The first morning I booked a Bali bed on the beach for 1500 pesos. These beds are right by the volleyball nets which is an odd location. You’re literally trying to relax 10 feet from the sidelines where people are playing and you risk getting whacked by a ball. My son loves beach volleyball so I was ok with this as I watched him play but if you’re looking for a relaxing spot to chill by the beach, the Bali beds are not it. There are other Bali beds by the upper pool which would be quieter but you don’t get the ocean sights and sounds. Bar service was great. Leo was awesome and made us special drinks. He even stopped on his way home and grabbed some vanilla for us when we mentioned wanting to go find some. The staff here are very kind. Sometimes the waiters in the restaurants seemed a little overwhelmed and once we were forgotten about and didn’t receive the dessert we ordered. However, we gave them grace as the resort was very full this week and the staff work hard. There is a wonderful coffee shop just off the lobby which makes great drinks and has delicious soft ice cream. This is all included in your stay. Activities are not as numerous as other resorts We wanted a great beach with an awesome view and weren’t looking for foam parties or swim up bars. However, more daytime activities are needed. There is yoga and water aerobics and beach volleyball but adding other things to do would be much better. Tennis court is also available and my son had fun playing. Live night shows are held in the pool area with cushions placed on steps. We saw a fire twirling show, a disco show, and a Mexican dancers presentation. Two other evenings we sat in the lobby bar listening and dancing to live music. This was New Years week and there were quite a few families around but I can imagine in mid January, the resort would be very quiet. Since Fiesta just took over this resort a few months ago, I can see them trying to add more activities to liven things up. There are three pools. The first one is the busiest with families while the other two were quieter although colder. Was nice for a plunge in the +30 degree heat though. There is water aerobics offered as well as water volleyball although the beach volleyball had much more participation. You can borrow a boogie board from the towel desk although it is quite tattered and could use replacing. My son enjoyed playing in the waves though. The swimming area is roped off and the lifeguards are always watching. There is security around the pool area as well. There is currently no little store to buy items you may have forgotten. The front desk said they are planning to create this soon. We took a taxi to the Paradise Village mall for 130 pesos each way to get some souvenirs and other items we wanted. There is a small grocery store in the mall as well. We have been to Mexico many times and didn’t feel a need to buy a lot of stuff but if you want a more shopping experience the a taxi ride to PVR would be your best bet. There is also a makeshift souvenir store on the beach just meters from the hotel that sells all sorts of things including silver jewellery, cover ups and t-shirts. There is a helpful tour operator on site who booked our dolphin and sea lion encounter. We had an amazing time and especially loved interacting withthe sea lions. The Club section concierge Javier is a wealth of information and was our go-to with any questions we had. He explained to us that for NYE, the dinner was all included as was access to the celebration on the beach. If you wanted an actual table by the stage area from 9:00-1:00am you would want to book a table. That would require the purchase of a bottle of sparkling wine which is about $150 per couple. Because it was just my son and I, we didn’t feel the need to book a table. The party was excellent with a great band and dj. All in all it was a lovely trip as we knew what we were getting. Adding more activities would elevate this hotel even further.

Alan was the best with volleyball. He was very helpful and good at getting the games started by recruiting players. Was also a very good player himself.

Updated…. We arrived at Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit around 4:30 pm after a long day of travel. By the time we checked in and made it downstairs, there was no food available until about 6:00-6:30 pm, which was really disappointing after travelling all day hungry. When the buffet finally opened, it was very underwhelming. There were not many selections, and overall the quality was poor. For a resort of this level, the food experience on our first night was well below expectations. The one bright spot was the pineapple, which was actually very good. Obviously, we haven't tried any of the other restaurants yet, and we're hoping they're better, but this wasn't a good start, especially considering we have nine more days here. I have to say that the hotel is great. The location is great. The beach is great. The staff have been wonderful even after I wrote the review we got approached and our concerns were looked after they can only go up from here. Thank you again for finding us at the morning buffet. I have to remember that they just took over this hotel in June so there’s going to be some bumps in the road but I’m sure it will be as good as our stay at the fiesta Americana, Puerto Vallarta .

Where to begin with Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit. We truly tried to like this resort, as we stayed here for a New Year’s Eve vacation, but overall it was a major disappointment. Pros: • The staff tries to be helpful • The New Year’s Eve event itself was enjoyable • Leo at the beach bar was excellent • Good water pressure in the sink/shower • Air conditioning and ceiling fans work well Cons: • Check-in time of 3:00 PM really meant closer to 4:00 PM, as our room was not ready • We paid extra for an ocean-view room but received only a partial view, mostly of palm trees and neighboring condos • Translucent bathroom and shower doors offer zero privacy, and the doors don’t even close properly • The in-room phone for room service did not work, and room service can only be ordered from the room • We went to the service desk to place an order, they took our, but nothing was ever delivered • Bathtub has almost no water pressure and leaks, spilling water into the sleeping area • Chain locks are to be installed on doors, but the actual locks are missing, anyone could enter without resistance • Sliding balcony door has no lock • Light switch covers were broken or missing • Many people on the property were not guests of the resort or condos; since it is next to a public beach, people can come and go freely • Food quality is poor, our best meals were off the resort • Requested a sheet change after day four; we were told it would be done, but it never happened • The resort is severely understaffed • Wait times to be seated at restaurants often exceeded an hour at some locations. Lines formed with no staff in sight to assist guests • Non-club rooms are in serious need of renovation as they are old, dated, and run down • Playing personal music at the pool (even quietly) is not allowed. Security will ask you to turn it off and to listen to the distant resort music • No on-site store for basic necessities • Coffee/ice cream shop frequently has a non-working ice cream machine • Anything besides coffee or ice cream is not included and must be paid for • Do not bother renting cabanas for the upcharge. Upon arrival early in the morning, we were given soaked sheets covering the mattress. The area was dirty and not cleaned, with empty drinks everywhere by 8:00 AM (opening time). Despite being advertised, there was no cabana or beach service • Towels were rarely available • Not enough beach chairs, and many that were available were filthy • Mini fridge was initially stocked, but after day three it was not restocked unless specifically requested • During a majority of the stay only 1 elevator was working I’m certain there are additional issues I may be forgetting, but if you’ve experienced neighboring resorts in Riviera Nayarit, it is absolutely worth paying more to avoid this one. I honestly do not understand how Fiesta Americana has earned 4+ star ratings or even a “luxury hotel” mention. Given the brand, we expected a decent experience, but we were terribly wrong. Several guests we spoke with shared very similar frustrations. We have stayed at multiple resorts in Riviera Nayarit and throughout Mexico, and this was by far the worst experiences we’ve had. It was a stay filled with empty promises and constant disappointment.

The trending word that I have heard is no we can not. 2nd day here and last night 25 min wait for a restaurant became an hour if jot a more . The issue that I have is the lack of customer service and willingness to provide excellent. Customers service. I personally work in food and beverage hospitality management background. That being said this place needs to look at the why behind dissatisfied guest. I have various examples but writing this review to shed light for others when planning a trip.
