Palm Island Resort & Spa in Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

More than just a holiday hideaway, Palm Island is a place where you can slow down and rediscover the healing properties of nature. Situated on its own 135-acre island in the Caribbean's Grenadines, it offers a small number guest rooms and suites in order to insure individual attention. From Plantation Suites to stilted Loft Cottages, to the fabulous Southern Cross Villa, great care has been taken to ensure that architecture blends into its surroundings. Best of all are the five sugar sand beaches and surroundings of some of the clearest waters of the Caribbean.

Upon waking you might indulge in a "Touched by an Angel" massage or sail the Scaramouche, which was featured in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. Additional boating excursions have been masterfully designed to introduce you to the nearby islands, including Mustique, Petit Saint Vincent and the Tobago Cays, where you can snorkel the astoundingly clear waters. Palm Island's natural tranquility is enhanced by the absence of cars, televisions, phones and motorized water sports. However, recreational facilities so include tennis, a freeform meandering swimming pool with cascading waterfalls, and complimentary kayaking, sunfish sailing and windsurfing. Land lovers will enjoy an open-air fitness room, hiking, bicycles and a 9-hole "pitch-and-putt" golf course. Visiting with indigenous iguanas on the walking trails and sail out at sunset to find the elusive green flash when the sun meets the water. After, you can enjoy tantalizing Euro-Caribbean cuisine that takes full advantage of the area's fresh seafood.

We went with our two children 18 and 21 and we had an amazing time! We biked the whole island every day, hiked, took yoga, swam, went on three amazing catamaran snorkeling trips, made friends with the staff, watched a cricket match, dined on gourmet food, bet on a crab race, got spa treatments and massages, drank fun cocktails, danced, watched a movie on the beach, saw tons of wildlife and bonded as a family!

As it was our 11th/12th trip to Palm Island & many reviews, I want to try & add something different as I am sure I have covered it all in the past years, so here goes! We spent New Year & early January on Palm Island. Palm Island is stunning, quiet, peaceful & tranquil, it is a place to recharge your batteries & send you back into the world refreshed & relaxed. The rooms are all on the oceanfront or close to the ocean, even the garden rooms are literally two minutes from the powder white sand. The rooms are currently being refreshed & the newer rooms are very pretty, light & airy. Yes the flight there is a little scary but these pilots do this every day, so they are extremely experienced & it’s best to just relax & enjoy the views! Once there it’s all about chilling & letting your worries go & Palm is the perfect place for this! It might be small but it’s highly addictive. The food is very good & the menus are varied & there are two restaurant’s & two bars. The Spa is glorious & well worth a visit & I did have some much needed massages which were utter bliss & the view from the treatment rooms is sublime. The Yannis is a fabulous day out to the Tobago Cays with a great crew & well worth doing. Everyone who works on Palm is just a joy to see every day. The team work extremely hard & are amazing. From smiling Jonny at the bar each night to Olive, Molissa, Kashi, Shaq, Afiya, Glenford, Hulda, Sherliee, Nia, Kenroy, Sherva. Chef Baka is most endearing & runs the kitchens most efficiently. Ed & Alaska are real treasures on Palm & so sweet. The new restaurant manager Cyril is 5 star! I hope he stays on Palm for a while. Kati the GM is beyond efficient, full of life & great fun but I don’t think she ever sleeps! Ok the negatives: Mosquitoes & sandflies are a considerable annoyance & we bring our Organic essential oils with us to combat the bites, so my advice is to bring your own repellant of choice. They fog the property but it’s the tropics, so reinforcements are needed. Internet is often slow & spotty but they are working on it  I do fully get it that large groups can be annoying, we had a group of quite annoying English people there, who took over the beach (their towels must have been laid out at 6am ) bar & indeed the restaurant, saving a specific table for their meals even though Palm has a very strict policy about this sort of petulant behavior! I have no idea how they made this happen but as we were on vacation, it’s best not to let it spoil the beauty of the Island & the trip. You will meet wonderful people from all parts of the globe & there are annoying vacationers everywhere! To finish it’s suffice to say Palm Island has a lot to offer & everyone should go once & experience the unique beauty of the Grenadines.

I’m staying with my husband for a few nights, and our favorite thing about the island is the workers. the island staff and restaurant staff are all SO SWEET and welcoming and filled with good energy. but the vibes that the general manager walks with are toxic and made me sad to be giving money to a place with such ill intent. While she was very sweet to us, the french woman who runs the island, the general manager, she is on a power trip. not good energy that radiates throughout the island. no respect for human beings unless they see dollar signs. I saw her address a young girl (who i spoke to later and found out had come to the island for the day by way of a friend who was close with the island staff) who had been misinformed about where she was able to sit on the beach. The way she addressed this girl was VERY rude. She told her she had to leave on the next boat unless she bought a day pass without even letting the girl know where she was allowed to sit if she wanted to stay. I understand paying guests get more privileges but there is a respectful way to speak to people. she treated her unwell and the girl was just trying to be respectful and had been misinformed. I found out this woman (the GM) wanted her to be out of view of the guests. The vibes of everyone who stay here are prideful and cliquey and i think it radiates from her. Even the way the other guests looked at the girl when she sat down to have lunch made me cringe. such a sweet girl. i hope these pretentious and judgmental vibes are discouraged because the island and staff are SO beautiful. and the sand is the whitest and cleanest i’ve ever seen. there are beautiful iguanas all over, as well as a gorgeous spa. i hope for it to change and actually exemplify good vibes and energy, not just advertise it. the food is the same you can get at any restaurant. You will not get a real taste of the grenadines by staying here. but again, the island staff were BEAUTIFUL people. I hope the GM changes her energy or if you go just try to avoid her. as i do think the island staff make the place beautiful to be. i chose to remain anonymous in this review.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Palm Island over Christmas and New Year. We came back thoroughly relaxed and very brown. The excellent service from this resort began even before we arrived, with my husband swapping e-mails with Ed (Front Office Manager), ensuring that they could tailor our holiday as much as possible to meet our requirements and relax as soon as we arrived. We stayed for 14 nights and were in a beach front cottage (no.12) where we were able to walk straight onto the beach which was great, all we had to do was step out of our front door and there we were standing on the sand. The suite was cleaned every day with fresh towels and toiletries and we had a turn down service every evening. We also had a fully stocked mini bar with beers, sodas and fresh milk which, as people from the UK, was really appreciated in a cup of tea. In the evening, we enjoyed eating at either the Royal Palm (main restaurant) or the Sunset Grill restaurant. There was a different menu at both restaurants every night unless it was a night when they had a buffet. At lunchtime, you could choose to eat at either restaurant, we chose to eat mainly at the Sunset Grill. We found the beach to be very nice with enough space between beds to give you the privacy needed. A special mention to Kashi who provided us with her beach service. The snorkelling off a choice of beaches was excellent, and my husband saw enough sea life yards from our front door that he didn’t feel the need to go on any of the tours to other islands. The spa offered a good range of treatments, one of which my husband used when he put his back out applying sun cream (that’s how laid back we were!) We really enjoyed the Managers Cocktail party. This was a lot more relaxed than other similar gatherings we’ve attended, mainly down to the excellent hosting skills of the resort Manager Kati. Not only did we get to meet a lot of the other staff, we got to know the other guests better. Unusually for us, we met with fellow guests at the bar and for dinner most nights rather than just the two of us. All the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay, we could not fault any of them. A special mention to Ed, who was outstanding in that he managed to get Smirnoff Ice in for me so that I was able to enjoy my favourite tipple for the duration of my stay. We have a list of other staff that we would like to mention for their great service and friendly attitude, but it’s far too long to add to this review, as there were so many. Things that stood out: • The quiet tranquillity of the resort • Stepping out of our room straight onto the beach • The friendliness of all the staff – always ready with a “hello” followed by your first name • Complimentary Afternoon Tea • The number of return guests which indicates the quality of the resort Areas for improvement: • This resort did not give out a daily English snippet newspaper and only catered for the American market. However, there were as many English people as Americans staying • Maintaining a consistent policy of not letting guests into a restaurant unless suitable attire is worn. If you are going to state it - you should enforce it (we stayed at the sister resort Galley Bay and they enforced their dress code!) • The management of larger parties disrupting the ambience of the resort. This was manifested by a noisy group of American teenagers who took over the karaoke night as well as disrupting some other nights. (We have to say they were an exception as we had a great rapport with a lot of other American guests) • The lunch menus could be changed on a weekly basis as if you are staying for longer, the choices are limited (apart from the daily Specials and Catch of the Day). A great example of the rapport guests have with the staff is the staff and guest Cricket match. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played the game before – join in for some great fun! If you have played before, you will have to adapt to the local island rules! Overall this was a fantastic resort with very attentive staff and good food. Even though the resort was at full capacity, we never saw many people except for Xmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Even with about 100 guests at maximum occupancy it still felt at times that we were on our own private island. Getting around the island to see the other beaches, the flora and fauna, and the wilder Atlantic coast was easy (15 minutes max) on the free bikes available for guests.

A jewel of an island set within St Vincent and the Grenadines. This little bit of paradise gives you time and space to relax the body and the soul. The flat white sandy beach and the crystal clear calm water are a joy. Here you can have your own oasis to soak up the sun or enjoy a cool drink. The Sunset Restaurant is a wonderful location to enjoy a sun-downer while watching the spectacular sunsets - this is also a great place to eat lunches especially under a palm umbrella with your toes in the sand. We enjoyed the food - the breakfasts were particularly good and very well presented. It is an island but we never felt remote and never felt crowded - always plenty of personal space. There were lots of opportunities to visit other islands - we enjoyed the Jack Sparrow Island and we loved swimming with the turtles. The trips were really good quality. Transfers to and from the island were very well organised by the resort and were worry free. The whole experience was beyond our expectations and we'll certainly be back!
