Remota in Patagonia, Chile

Architect Germán del Sol took inspiration from the daily life of Patagonia and based the design of Remota on the buildings in which the sheep farm workers live. To minimize its footprint, Remota uses sustainable practices, locally sourced materials and available resources – light from the continuous vertical windowpanes provides both visibility and warmth, and also contributes to the design scheme. In support of the local community, Remota aims to train and employ only local people.

Arise in a sparse, light-filled room and breathe in the vast magnificence of Patagonia from your window. Fuel up with homemade baked goods before setting out on the day's adventure. Take advantage of being at the crossroads of Patagonia and hike unmarked trails through the peaks of Torres del Paine National Park to picnic alongside ice formations or trek through the wild horse habitats of the Sierra Baguales and hunt for fossils. Debrief at the Remota bar before a meal of Chilean flavors and organic ingredients. Enjoy a candle-lit massage and a dip in the outdoor whirlpool before a rest well earned.

This hotel seems to be lost. It's almost in the middle of no where and appears somewhat rustic. Actually the best part of this hotel is the 5 star restaurant located inside. It was one of the best restaurants we encountered on this 24 day trip. So glad we stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the food.

I was surprised when i felt a smell of fire place when i came in, the staff was friendly. There is no TV in the room and WiFi does not work in the room, but that is a good thing. First i was annoyed but then i realized this way is much better. The surrounding is beautiful and hotel is design so you can be closer to the nature and appreciate more,so I got a real good sleep with out tv or phone bothering me. The spa is clean , the services were great. The breakfast was very tasty. The dinner menu was very elaborate with many choices. I highly recommend and hope to be back there again.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It looks like a black barn from the outside, built into a hill. Once inside it has the most amazing views. Super warm, comfortable and quirky, a world away from the glitzy, formula style 5 star hotels. Its totally eco friendly with all fittings made out of wood where possible. Interesting design features everywhere. Friendly helpful staff. Dinner, a set price menu with wine, was excellent. We only stayed 2 nights and were sorry we hadn't more time there.

Stayed here for 2 nights during a recent visit to Chile .Very modernistic in design both outside and inside.Warmly greeted on arrival and we were quickly in our room which had fab views to the mountains.Room was large and spacious high ceiling lots of glass and had all mod cons that support your stay.Public areas were on lots of different levels all with wonderful views and were imaginative in there decoration and layout. We ate in the Restaurant on both nights and loved it service was friendly and attentive and food was very good supported by a good wine list.Breakfast was fine all the usual culprits plus some hot choices .All staff we came in contact with were very friendly and attentive to our needs.
