A little frustrating for our first visit, but we will return

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 15 hours ago

I read the reviews before booking and found the common thread of frustration with making dinner reservations to be valid. A personal concierge stopped us on the sidewalk our first morning, intent on helping us book dinner reservations and other excursions for our stay. Since we had just arrived and we were not familiar with the restaurants and what they served and did not book anything through her. She mentioned something about a beach excursion but we were on our way to breakfast so we told her we would check back with her later. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the swim up bar Tucanes, Alberto the bartender was awesome! People we met at the pool, who had been there several times, gave us great information on where we would likely prefer to eat during our stay, and also told us about the beach excursion (Maroma Beach), which they explained in more detail. We went to the concierge to ask about scheduling a spot on the bus for the beach trip the next day and it was as if she was trying to shame us for not listening to her on the sidewalk. We didn’t appreciate the attitude and each thing we asked her to help us with, she could not do, we had to talk to the concierge in the lobby. Overall, we truly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, the warm wait staff and the swim up bars. D’Italia Casitas was very good (D’Italia on the Royale side was very poor), Santa Fe was good as well, but our favorite place was the pizza place at the main pool. They serve other things besides pizza, but we all loved the pizza! Be sure to find out when the Fiesta Mexicana night is, because all of the restaurants are closed that night so staff can work that event. We were starving that night after snorkeling earlier in the day, but could not find anywhere to eat, except the Fiesta Mexicana. It was a really nice event with abundant food and a large mariachi band. I will say we are headed back in July to stay on the Casitas side. Now that we are familiar with the resort, the restaurants and excursions, we will be able to navigate it much easier. Your first time there might be a little confusing because it’s not a traditional all-inclusive, but do your homework as much as you can in advance on the restaurants and by reading reviews to make those reservations early. And the Maroma Beach excursion should really be on your list of things to do.

Paradise - for the 5th time!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

Back again for our 5th trip at our fave hotel in the world! This place is exceptional. We enjoyed our stay here the best so far. The meals in the restaurants have been greatly improved and there was so much choice for vegetarians this year with the buffet Spot at lunch open again. We are from the UK and have been coming here twice a year since April 2022. And we feel incredibly blessed to have found such a paradise. This isn't like any other hotel. It's so special. The fact you can choose pools to suit how quiet / lively you want it is a huge bonus to us. Every staff member is genuinely wonderful with the kindest manners and politeness. Leo, Eduardo and Jaqueline are all exceptional! But really everyone is. From the moment you are greeted here at receprion you are made to feel like royalty. The luscious gardens are like you're in Hawaii. We are engaged and can see us getting married here in the future. It holds such a special place in our hearts!!

Great vacation!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We had an AMAZING vacation here over the last week. We were truly sad to leave! The food here is absolutely superb and being gluten free I have never felt more confident. The staff here is amazing and I could have spent my entire trip talk and getting to know them. We were big fans of the breakfast buffet where Alejandro made the best omelets and Reyna with the best crepes. We had the best and most kind service at every meal with Luz, Roberto, Berna, Bernando, Alfredo, victor, Javier, noe, Isaias! I wish I could remember everyone because they for sure deserve a shout out! While not eating, the activities were so fun. I would highly recommend the bike tour. We went with Daniel and he was incredible. We also REALLY enjoyed the bonanza tour where we met Fabian who did a fantastic job. Overall, it was a great vacation and we can’t wait to go back. Our butlers, Hugo and David, really helped make it a vacation to remember!

Amazing Food!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Without a doubt, the very best food that we have had at any of the all inclusive resorts that we’ve been to. It’s a very large resort and difficult to walk. So thank goodness there are shuttles going frequently. Rooms are beautiful and the pools are plentiful. Great resort, but the beach was not our cup of tea. Hopefully they can fix that in the future. The grounds are gorgeous!

A Great Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We have stayed at a number of different resorts in the area and this has to be far one of my favorites. The various dining areas were great as there are several choices for various meals. We had a swim out room and it was super relaxing. It has plenty of pools so there were several that were very quiet and relaxing. There is also a pool if you just want to party. All the pools had their own bars. My only negatives are that the pool bars closed at 5PM and the remnants of their beach dock pilings damaged from the hurricane could probably cleaned up as I feel it takes away from the beach view. Overall the resort and the service was great and we will certainly visit again. It is also a short 20 min ride from the airport which makes it even better. We never left the resort.
