!!!WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Okay so where do we start… When you arrive, they do come and help with your bags. You then check in & if your room isn’t ready, you wait 4hrs for the room to be ready…” The Beach is absolutely trash. There’s a seaweed that stings your skin & it goes from the coast like to about 15ft into the ocean. So don’t think about swimming in the ocean. Unless you become a member there for thousands of dollars. The members only beach was perfectly cleared off. That takes me to the membership. They require you to sit through what they will tell you is a 90 minute presentation. It is more realistically like four hours. But don’t worry there’s an easy way to not have to buy one of their stupid timeshares. All you need to do is ensure them that legally you cannot sign anything locking you into any monthly payment unless you talk with a lawyer and an accountant first. They tried to sell us a timeshare starting at $300,000… their final offer was selling us one for $500. We said no to everything. Although when you do say no to everything, the service they provide, you goes dramatically down. Their sales team is extremely high pressured and they think they’re smart, but they are actually not very smart at all. They’re actually very uneducated. But as long as you continually say no, and tell them, you legally cannot sign anything without showing documentation to a lawyer or to an accountant…they will back off. They will tell you that they will not allow you to take any documentation with you. They will tell you that it is Mexico’s law to not let you take any documentation with you. You then ask them to quote and reference and citation to show you the law…they refuse to do this as well, which means they are a scam and frauds. Their little sales presentation is absolutely the dumbest thing you could ever sit through. Not only is their sales presentation bad. The food is absolutely horrible. Both me and my fiancé got sick on this trip by eating pizza. The alcoholic drinks had little to no alcohol in them unless you become a member and then they give you alcohol. They pretend that they don’t speak English, but they speak English. The staff is absolutely horrible especially Gina at the front desk. She’s the worst of them all. On a ledge outside, our room were stacked up room service dishes, which attracted little rodents. Don’t worry those rodents also would poop in the hallways. These rodents also would steal your food by the pool, which was a very warm pool in a very hot climate. These rodents would also drink from your drinks, and when you complained to the staff, they would shrug their shoulders and walk away. The gym is absolutely not a gym. It is trash. Literally, the best part about this entire vacation was leaving this property. Also give them a credit card and then as soon as you leave this property lock that credit card because they will try to charge you for things after you leave. So between the dead bugs, animal feces, animals trying to steal your food and drinks, extremely high pressure sales from very uneducated people, absolute horrible staff, and countless vendor is trying to sell you things on their property… I would rather go to jail, then come back to this resort. The only thing I highly recommend is that every single person stay far away from this resort. Also, don’t forget that you legally do not have to buy anything from them. If you sit through that sales presentation just tell them that you legally cannot sign any documents without the approval of your lawyer or accountant and they will back off. Also, by the way this place is going bankrupt so they will try to sell you anything for any amount of dollar to save their jobs. But again, I will advise you to never ever go here. What they should do is fire, all the staff members, and the management, and tear it down and rebuild. Literally, the worst vacation experience I ever have had…and I’ve been to Haiti. My last warning is to literally never go here! These are the worst kind of people you could imagine. But don’t worry their response to this review will be they will escalate this which they won’t. Or they will address this with management, but they won’t. Or they will address us with the staff, but they won’t. They will say thank you for your concerns, but they aren’t thankful because nothing changes here. They will say thank you for bringing this to our attention, but they absolutely do not care about anybody who comes to their establishment. So watch them comment on this below, but mark my words…this is the worst resort in the country of Mexico.

Good but not as good as last year

Ownership definitely has its privileges at Tres Ríos! Alma and Daniel were the best. Having a butler was 1 of the best parts of the trip. All of the staff was amazing. Sadly, the property was not finished or remodeled from our visit in the same week last year. They say it will be done 11/1, but I don’t see it. The food was good but a far cry from the food last year. From breakfast with a grill that is too hot and all eggs were burnt to dinner where the tomahawk steaks that we paid for were about 2/3 smaller than last year. The butlers and the yacht ride were the best parts.

The worst experience of my life...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

It's a disgusting hotel, the management sucks. Nothing like previous years, and the owners don't care about the workers, they just want to line their own pockets. I'm going to sue them, damn scammers. The conditions are terrible, everything is very old, there are lots of bugs, and they have a clown as a manager. Pablo at the front desk is rude and arrogant. If that's the kind of people they have working there, I can't imagine what the higher-ups are like. I never want to return to this run-down hotel in my life; it's the worst hotel ever.

My wife and I took the four-night package in August and really got our money's worth! The service from the entire staff was phenomenal. The nature activities, including biking and kayaking through the terrain and rivers, are not to be missed. The beach was beautiful. The complimentary wind surfing boat ride was very special. The quality and quantity of food available was amazing and I am a NYC food snob! And the top shelf liquor was always available! I could go on... Visit this property!!
