This is no party get sick resort, this is a fun and nature resort where you do not have to leave in order to experience the outdoors. Did the nature bike ride through the mangroves and at the same time we jumped into 3 different cenotes which we did again after the tour on our own. we also did the kayak and a snorkel tour through river number 1 then we did it on our own through river number 2. Yes there are 2 rivers and fun to explore. each day you could sign up for a different activity. there is no getting board. The hotel looks large but is not a city and for the amount of rooms there is a lot of beach and pool space, meaning we had no problem vacating a beach bed and lying chairs. the beach is peaceful and swimmable with a sand bottom, no rocks. you can also walk over the bridge or swim across the river to the north beach at the resort which has a couple sand openings do sit in at river 2 to keep fresh. at the same time the rivers are great for your skin because they are full of minerals from the manglar trees so make sure you give your skin a dose. Found the buffet some what limited, except there is a restaurant a la cart by the pool and the food is amazing and so is the service. there are other restaurants such as Asian did not go. We wanted to try the Italian but our group was a little disappointed we could not eat there because it as adults only and being from an Italian background our children as all love Italian food so cant comment on that. In any place the a la cart by the pool made up for it. I have to say you cant get perfect because many people have their different precedents. but this trip was more for my kids and they had a great time with nature. I would go again definitely. i want to say a special thanks to the entire tour/animation staff where helpful and trustworthy and a special thanks go out to Christian and Alejandro, who are very attentive during the tours.

I had a great time at Hacienda Tres Rios. The rooms were very spacious, the food and drinks were delicious and the staff were very friendly and informative. Our bike tour intructor, Diego, was so much fun and made the trip so exciting. I definitely can't wait to go back 😊

The resort is beautiful and the staff is extremely welcoming and engaging. Diego and Alejandro were great at including us in all the daily activities (like water aerobics and beach volleyball which were very fun) and were always checking in on us throughout our stay to make sure we were having a good time. Oscar and Said were great tour guides for snorkeling and kaiaking and Cesar (watersports) was an excellent driver and host on the boat tour. The service and food were incredible and the beach is beautiful. This is definitely a more family friendly resort rather than the cliche "spring breaker" resort so if you're looking for a night life you'll have to leave the resort but it was fun and relaxing.

I spent my Spring Break at Hacienda Tres Rios with my parents and my best friend, and I had the best time. We stayed at la Herencia. Our butlers were all amazing, but by far our favorite was Rodrigo! We spent many days lounging at the hotel's beach. All the drinks and food were great. We got the guacamole and the ceviche almost every day. The day time activities were really well done as well. Oscar was a great guide in the kayaks! Our days here were great and we can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed our stay at Hacienda Tres Rios. We went on RCI points and it would appear due to this, you are treated differently. You go to a different check in even. We were disappointed with our room, we had a child with us, and despite calling ahead and requesting a divided sleeping space, we were not granted this luxury. But had out child sleeping literally 2 feet away. The room was spacious and clean. We had a lovely deck overlooking the trees and so even though we could not see the ocean, when we opened the sliding door on the deck, we were able to hear the ocean at night. We did not remember to take bug repellant with :( Our little girl got bitten quite badly, so we slept with our door shut after the first night. The setting is beautiful with a little bit of mangrove, the river running through the resort with fish in and then 3 different pools all nicely kept. The ocean was a great disappointment! We actually didn't even swim in the ocean. A small area of beach front, mostly covered in seaweed. On the beach you often get a terrible smell of rotting vegetation. The lagoon was beautiful and the water was "see through" but again just a small area of it and quite highly populated. The restaurants food was OK. Nothing to rave about. The buffet pretty much served the same food everyday. The Italian restaurant food and ambiance was amazing. Hacienda Grill was our favourite restaurant. Gabriel is amazing at the Grill! The is some confusion on whether you need to make a reservation or not. If you go to make a reservation you are told you don't have to. Some people did make reservations and then had to wait for a table, so all around you can try to make a reservation, otherwise if you just come they will try to accomodate you as well. It was sad that there was no snack bar anywhere where you could just get chips and salsa or some form of snack. You also had to sit down at all the restaurants, so even the pizza bar which is closest to the pools, you can't get a pizza to go and eat at the beach. You had a long wait of up to almost an hour sometimes to get a table and then you had to wait for the pizza to be cooked. We did enjoy that we seldom saw any form of drunkeness, Generally by 10:30 the resort was quiet. Our last night there, there was noise until 3:30 am though! Also every morning at 7am some form of petrol powered device was started up. I assumed it was a whipper snapper. Couldn't they wait until 8 or 9 am at least to start that? It would go for a least an hour or two every day. I understand that the gardens have to be maintained, but please start when the noise of the day drowns the noise out - NOT a nice sound to be woken up to every morning when you are hoping to sleep in! Most of the staff speak VERY limited English. We were assigned to Patty for our concierge. She seemed distracted most of the time. We were not even given a map of the resort at check in. When I went to ask for one later, Patty was away and the gentleman there was more than rude! Twice he made us feel like we were wrong in coming to ask for help. We booked a tour with Patty to visit Chichen Itza (not to be missed). Is asked Patty how long the tour was and she replied 3 hours. Great was our surprise when we were finally on the tour bus and were told that we were on the bus for 12 - 13 hours!! Had we have known this, we likely would not have gone on the tour. The towels are grey and not really white. The beach towels seemed to come in two batches. One obviously newer and not as washed out as the 2nd batch that were quite threadbare. Oh yes, we did discover on the 3rd day where to collect towels for the beach as well. All in all, will I go back to Tres Rios? Maybe. it wasn't a bad experience. We did feel safe, it does have beautiful surroundings and family atmosphere but definitely an older demographic. Most definitely not if you want to enjoy swimming in the sea.
