We just returned from a week of fun in the sun at Tres Rios. Despite the many negative reviews complaining about the construction etc., We all had a great time there. Yes there is still new construction going on, but it is nearing completion. We stayed in Building 4 as #5 is still under construction, but it was clean and has all new furniture. One small gripe was the lack of dresser drawers, and they removed the sinks in the living rooms areas, but it was a minor detail. The pool waiters were awesome as always! Shout out to Victor and Edgar who insured we didn't go thirsty. The Pizzeria was great as usual! Juan the talavera ceramics vendor by the kids pool is wonderful and he will turn whatever you paint into something beautiful to be treasured as a memento of the vacation. Our concierges, Alma, Daniel and Ruth ensured that we had everything we wanted during our stay they are all wonderful. We were fortunate enough to attend the grand reopening of the hacienda grill on our last night there. It is now enclosed and air conditioned which is awesome. There were some minor opening night jitters, but overall it was awesome to see it open again!!!!! In the Lobby Bar Caesar and Antonio provided the utmost in customer service and drinks made to perfection. Able the 3 to 11 bartender in the Sports Bar also deserves a mention, Abel works the crowd and is a wonderful person and outstanding bartender. We wanted for absolutely nothing when he was tending bar! Our first night we attended an wine and food tasting at the Alejbrie Mexican Restaurant. Diego Garcia the Mixologist co-hosted the event and it was one of the highlights of the vacation. If you need to know ANYTHING about mexican alcoholic beverages ask Diego, he is totally awesome!! The Italian restaurant is now completed and served us some very memorable meals. Antonio the buffet supervisor and Hermania the omlette chef also deserve a shout out for excellent service as well as their entire waitstaff! Overall from the front desk clerks to Juan from Star travel the staff catered to us and we had an absolutely wonderful vacation! We cant wait to return after the grand reopening and Kimpton Brand roll out! Bottom Line, make the best of your vacation, treat the staff well,, and you will receive tenfold in return! Thank you all for a wonderful vacation experience!!!!!!

Enjoyed the resort and new renovations. We had a 2BR suite but was disappointed that one BR had no bureau! That was a miss in the renovations. Beach, pools, restaurants and all the staff is great, but extra shout out to Antonio at lobby bar!

I stepped out of the airport into a sunny warm day. Descending like vultures were taxis and transport companies. However, my driver was waiting for me. We set off for Tres Rios. We pulled up to what looked like a movie set and an employee carefully looked after my bag, and with a huge smile said "welcome home!" The check in process was easy. The concierge was attentive and helpful. I knew I was signed up for a presentation where they tried to sell a "membership." And is still surprises me that people sign up for this them get upset that they have to sit through a sales pitch. I enjoyed my whole stay. I wish there were more lunch options but I didn't starve. The hibachi was great, the hacienda grill was my favorite. But the best part was the kind and caring and attentive staff.

The resort is not as nice as it use to be, they have cut back on services, entertainment and food options. The breakfast and lunch buffet were very good. Don't go for the beach, the water is brown and full of red mangrove debris. Activities and entertainment are almost non-existent. The bartenders are great and food was good. I wish they would pick up the garbage a little better around the resort.

My wife and I took the four-night package in August and really got our money's worth! The service from the entire staff was phenomenal. The nature activities, including biking and kayaking through the terrain and rivers, are not to be missed. The beach was beautiful. The complimentary wind surfing boat ride was very special. The quality and quantity of food available was amazing and I am a NYC food snob! And the top shelf liquor was always available! I could go on... Visit this property!!
