I had written an extensive review for this hotel but for some reason it would not go through. I did want to write a bit about it anyways. We had a great week in April. We loved every aspect of the resort. For us Chef Rendon and Omar at the lobby bar were the stars. All the staff in general were fantastic and the service here was A1. The beach is eroded which is too bad and also seaweed problem but we enjoyed it anyways and for us it was not a problem. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It is smaller and showing a bit of age but we liked it's quaint small size and Mexican feel. A lot of reviewers just can't be pleased but we always make the best of each place we visit and truly enjoy it the best we can. Only compliant would be the smell coming from the turtle pond other then that everything else was excellent. Dear Chef Rendon you are a true Master at your craft and a humble man with so much passion. Thanks for making our time at your resort so memerable and for exuding your talents on our palates. Overall we would go back again and relax in the beautiful setting of Secrets Capri. Olly and Lou

Spent our honeymoon here in 2007, came back for 10 year anniversary. Loved it both times. Service: Untouchable for the price. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Food: 20% excellent, 70% very good, 10% O.K. 6 restaurants. The Asian restaurant is very good, Italian is excellent, buffet has lots of variety. My least favorite meal was the steak at the Oceana, it was O.K., just nothing great. We ate at Portofino twice, everything there was excellent. Try all of them and find what you like. Beach: Good for us A lot of Playa del Carmen beach has eroded in the last few years, so its not as big as it used to be, but there is still plenty of sand with beach chairs to go lie and listen to the waves. While we were there, a lot of seaweed wash washing up and there were guys cleaning it up constantly. Pool: Clear, comfortable temperature Busiest from 10 to 2, but not overcrowded. There is a swim up bar and ground level bar attached. The longest I had to wait for a drink in the pool was probably 3 minutes when it was the busiest. If you want more space go to the North side away from the bar. There are lots of pool chairs and umbrellas, we never had trouble getting chairs. The rooms are very nice. The beds are comfortable. If you give room service a couple dollars, they'll decorate your bed with rose pedals or something. One of few all inclusive resorts with top shelf liquor.

We had a great time at Secrets Capri. Hands down the best service of any resort we have stayed at. I was expecting the resort to be a little run down (built in 2003) but I was surprised at how fresh and new looking everything was. We will definitely be back.

This was my first time taking a trip to Mexico alone and I can say I enjoyed myself for the most part. Rooms: The rooms are beautiful. The beds are a bit firm but I slept very well. The bathroom is nice but the tub can be a tad bit tight for one person so two is out of the question. There were times that the room had an overwhelming mildew smell but it came and went throughout my stay. Food: The food was good. I didn't care for the steak at seaside grille but the salmon for lunch was excellent. The breakfast buffet was really good. I ate omelets every morning. The fruit was always fresh but it did get warm inside most of the restaurants. The coffee shop was great, too. If you're hungry late at night, order a pizza from room service. They also deliver alcohol. Beach: The beach is small but that was never a problem. My first day there, the water was a tad dirty looking and there was a lot of seaweed. The next morning, the water was beautiful and clear and most of the seaweed was gone. My last day the water looked disgusting and it smelled like sewage. I don't know if the hotel has anything to do with the smell but maybe they should look into it. Staff: Most of the staff was nice and very accommodating. Yoshato was my favorite. I met him my first night and he spoke to me every day thereafter. There was also Ferieduardo at Seaside grill for lunch. Always very friendly. There were a few staff who came off as rude but I avoided them. Pool: The pool was nice. I didnt see any missing tiles. There was a loud side and a quiet side. The blue floats provided go quick so I brought my own float from home. Overall, it was a nice treat and I may possibly return

The resort is one of the oldest resorts in their brand but it has been well maintained. First check in was easy and their was no pressure for a timeshare presentation. Second, the room was spacious and the beds were heavenly. The food was very good and above average for an all inclusive resort. Every afternoon from 4 to 8 they would serve a coffee fire roasted with alcohol of your choice with whipped cream and I enjoyed 1-2 cups everyday Bars were really good about making nice drinks. If you stay here please try the Miami Vice it's off menu but delicious. Never felt like I was being served unbranded alcohol and did not have any memory loss or problem being brought to light by the media. Spa- was only average and unless you go on Thursday it's 40% off I would not go. Hot tub and steam room not working, however Luis was really nice and tried to compensate for the lack of service. Front desk- very nice and accommodating. I liked them all Cons Pool pool closes at 6 and pool closes at 8pm Beach had 3 foot of seaweed into water and on shore and in the mornings it would smell horrible Water not clear, very murky On 2 days Bathrooms outside in pool area needed refreshing more often, it smelled like sewage. Overall the resort is good for couples who want to lay back and relax, not really good for young people wanting a lot of activities. Most guests I interacted with were above 30
