Room was nice and clean. Food was average at the buffet. Service was great BUT at the Seagrill the service was atrocious- we were not asked what type of wine we wanted, the plates were deposited very abruptly on the table and at the end of the meal we waited and we were not offered a dessert. For our first experience at this hotel, we are not tempted to go back. For light sleepers, we hear noise coming for rooms.

We went to the Secrets Capri in January 2018 with several couples. The perfect place to get together in a smaller setting. Entertainment is always top notch at any AM Resort you stay at! Luis C, one of the managers, was absolutely the best! Made sure our party was taken cared of! I would definitely recommend this resort, or any AM Resort for that matter! They go above and beyond anyone's expectations!

I'll start by saying the only reason I gave them very good was due to the exceptional Customer Service and the employees. They're top notch. From check in, to the Entertainment staff, Pool Concierge (shout out Pedro and Mauricio), wait staff, everyone really was committed to Customer Service and making our trip amazing. The people were beautiful. The beach is not great. Lot's of seaweed, although I will say they have worker's who spend most of their day trying to keep it cleaned up. Water was pretty murky due to the seaweed. Pool area is so, so. Very rowdy and loud, which is fine, we spent most of our time on the beach in a Bali Bed, which I highly recommend. As far as I could tell, there was not a "smoking area". There were a lot of smoker's with not so nice manner's. Would light up outside of our room, all around the pool area without regard to the people laying around them, same with the beach, then would just put their smokes out in the sand and leave them there. Never cleaned up around them. Food was a disappointment, with the exception of the Hibachi. Drinks were excellent with good flavor and plenty of alcohol. We had an Ocean View Room, view was perfect! Room was on the small side, but kept clean and orderly. Lamp shades and curtains were stained and a couple time our sheets were too. Beds were comfortable so were the pillows. We had several issues with the water, no hot water, no water pressure, no water at all. Would I go back? Not sure, while we had amazing service and did enjoy our stay, I do think there are better options. This resort is in need of some TLC.

As others have said, the resort is on the smaller side and fairly quiet. 99% of the staff really try to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. My mixed feelings come in with the food quality and the entertainment-both of which were very inconsistent. We had great experiences at the Cactus Club, Coco Café and Portofino, but the other restaurants were mediocre at best (Oceana, Seaside Grille, Himitsu and Buffet). I think they should merge the steak and seafood restaurants and create another restaurant with more wow factor-perhaps a French or gourmet. The entertainment was also inconsistent. We loved the live music in the lobby in the evenings, but some of the evening shows were rather second-rate. The entertainment team seemed to be understaffed while many activities on the schedule just didn’t happen. I did enjoy the yoga sessions by the garden gazebo with Colleen Datt (a professional instructor who the resort brought in, but she was only there the first two days of our stay). The beach area is nice but the water was murky and there was so much seagrass in the water that we didn’t go in the ocean even once-this obviously is Mother Nature and not the resort’s fault. You can walk for miles south on the beautiful sand, but the northern walk is much more treacherous and unsightly. The pool is DANGEROUS and the resort needs to address this. Our friend slid and fell entering the pool on the first day and I cut my foot on a broken tile the last day while doing the water aerobics class. I didn’t realize just how bad the cut was until I exited the pool and had a hard time getting the bleeding to stop. My husband notified the security team and they sent the lifeguard to sanitize and bandage it. The security team took pictures and did an accident report (CYA by resort, not a concern for my welfare). The resort did not check on how I was doing after the fact or do anything to try to smooth over the situation, aside from having the lifeguard re-bandage it later that evening at my husband’s request. This injury ruined the last day of our trip unfortunately. We booked an ocean view room and were assigned 536 which had a beautiful view, adequate bath and bed areas, and a nice sized balcony. The bed was very comfortable-like sleeping on a cloud. Another component that I am conflicted about is the fact that they claim the resort is all preferred club. We have stayed at plenty of other Amresorts properties with preferred and non-preferred status in the past. The classification and differentiation is a joke. It is really just another way to get their customers to pay more frankly. Another thing that bothered me is that you need to rent Bali Beds by the pool or beach. I don’t ever recall having to pay at any other Amresorts property that we have stayed at-this was very disappointing. We enjoyed ourselves, but there clearly is room for improvement at Secrets Capri.

We had a great trip. I wanted to write this review because too many times people only write reviews when things are bad or marginal and I wanted to share a great experience. We had a group of 6 Adults and did 6 day/5 nights at Secrets Capri Riviera and we will absolutely consider the exact same resort for our next trip. My wife and I are in our mid-30's and have taken around 8 bigger trips like this and this trip was our best trip by a large margin. Staff was incredible! This was the best service we have ever received. Teresa, poolside server, was the best and really made our trip that much better. Juan at the swim-up bar mixed great drinks, kept them flowing, and kept it lively even when there were guests 2-3 deep. Armando, entertainment manager, was great and added life, fun, and hours of entertainment to the pool and lobby. Our maid service was incredible and very accommodating and all of the restaurant staff was great. The room, resort, and amenities exceeded expectations. This resort is on the smaller size but we loved that - we crashed a resort down the beach one night and it was much smaller which seemed to suck and my wife and I hit Cancun a few years ago at a resort that was much larger and that wasn't great either....this was a great size. We had read reviews prior to attending and there were some reviews that said the rooms weren't nice, weren't clean, etc. and those reviews could not have been further from the truth for us. Our room was great, comfortable, and met our every need. Folks should be prepared that air conditioning in Mexico (across most of the country) is not what you would get in the US and if you have that expectation then your review of the room will be similar to ours - outstanding! Restaurants - we loved all but two which we thought were just ok. The bars were really good and quick to get a drink (hard to mess up a bar). The Hibachi was great and our groups' #1. We also loved the outdoor restaurant near the beach....we ate breakfast there every day to just listen to the waves hit the shore, watch the cruise ships go by, and just eat up as much of the beauty as we could. The buffet inside has a little bit for every body and the poolside ordering delivers some great wings, rib eye tacos, shrimp tacos, and burgers. The room service was really good but took a little bit of time to get there. The Italian food place had some really great dishes and had some that missed the mark....if it had just been my wife and I we would have eaten there more but not all of our group liked it enough to go back. The steakhouse and seafood restaurant were just ok, don't expect an experience like an US steakhouse or seafood place. The coffee shop was great and the sandwiches and pastries there were a great snack to grab any time. The Spa - we didn't experience this one but the folks who did said it was AMAZING. My only complaint is that it was hard to get into so plan this one early and make your reservation but be costs quite a bit and the coupons you get don't cover much (covers like $40 of $180) despite the advertising. Also, if you wait they offer a 50 minute massage for $60 as part of a check out benefit. It was a coupon slipped under our door two days before check-out. It is a MUCH better deal but you will need to book that as soon as you get it. Tips - bring a bunch of ones. I would estimate you need $20-25 per couple per day in ones and another $10-15 in fives. It's not necessary to tip and I am not sure that you get better service or not but for the minimal cost of it, it just seems right to tip good service and help make sure they come back to you. Just to ease any thoughts there were no hidden costs outside of the higher spa costs. Other than that, everything was straight forward. We would recommend lining up your own transportation if you go on excursions so that you don't have to make all the extra stops on your way to the excursion unless the resort can guarantee that the transportation is only for your resort guests. To sum it up, we loved it! We will go back and I hope that this review (even though it is lengthy) answers some questions or concerns you may have. Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun was amazing with great service - especially Teresa, Juan, and Armando; and was one of the more beautiful places we have been!
