Reviews for Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
This place was fantastic, we were there with 6 people and had a wonderful time. You first walk in and they meet you with smiles and a nice cool face towel. Check in was so easy and simple, the lobby is huge and there was no pressure at tall to do any talking to anyone about time share deals. The place is big and beautiful. Two main pools are awesome and our room was fantastic, we had a swim out room and that was just the best. We mostly hung out at the pool and there was always something going on. The foam party was so much fun. There is also a quite pool area and the beach was very very nice and clean. The beverages were flowing all the time and name brand liquor was available. Beer, was Bud Light, Corona Light, Modelo and Pacifica. All can beer. Then breakfast buffet was wonderful, lots of choices. Had Dinner at the Italian restaurant which was our favorite, did the Mexican buffet at pool area one night. There were also several shows in the theater, Beatles Fest and then the next day Rock Show. I would highly recommend this resort and will return. Only complaint is my room could have been a little cooler, was not hot by no means, but I like my room cold to sleep at night.

What an amazing vacation in a beautiful part of the world! The service and hospitality of the employees at this resort was incredible. They were so kind and friendly. From our concierge, Rogelio, to Emma, Carlos, Jose and Cesar on the entertainment team, to Francisco at the Asian restaurant, and Balbina who served us our drinks on the beach, everywhere we went we were taken care of so well. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The food at the restaurants was delicious. You have to go to the Asian restaurant. The beach and water was beautiful. We had seaweed for two days and a tropical storm one day (to be expected in August). The landscape and amenities were great. I had a wonderful deep tissue massage at the spa by Lily. Be sure to pack biodegradable sunscreen if you plan to go on any excursions. Bottom line, it's a great resort and my hubby and I would love to go back. We celebrated 20 years of marriage.
My wife and I recently stayed at Secrets Maroma for a short 10 year anniversary trip. We stayed 3 nights. I read a ton of reviews here and elsewhere prior to our stay so I feel it's only right that I add my thoughts. I think the grounds, beach, food and rooms are wonderful. I think for the most part the staff does a great job. I will say I was just slightly disappointed on a few occasions during our short stay. I read countless reviews of the helpful staff so my expectations were probably very high. We arrived early and as Preferred Club status we were taken by golf cart to the private area to check in as I read in many different reviews. After we went through the check in procedure we were quickly handed off to someone at the "vacation desk" which is where I assumed the 'timeshare pitch' that I read so much about would take place. It was a very weird situation that I could not even understand what he was trying to sell and/or give my wife and I. I ended up ending the conversation very abruptly and walking out of the Preferred Club lounge. No one said goodbye, explained anything further, showed us where we could go, gave us a map, etc. We walked out of a door and continued walking in circles asking random people to help us. We finally found a place on the beach and had a drink due to all the stress and confusion. At 3pm when our room was supposed to be ready we could not find the concierge to assist us with getting our keys. We walked around, found someone and waited in the hallway. We waited and were given the keys by someone in housekeeping. Then after we found our room and went inside we had someone knock on the door and say they were the concierge from another building and our concierge was off that day. No problem but I could have been handled differently. Keep in mind we were staying in a Preferred Club room. I will say that several times I had to set up an umbrella or go get a drink because the staff was not around in the pool area. They work hard and were probably busy but being a five star resort and reading all of the reviews claiming you never raise a finger probably left me with unrealistic expectations. Also in the restaurants they asked us several times if we were celebrating anything and we said yes our anniversary. It was only once that we received dessert with Happy Anniversary written on it to celebrate the event. Now please understand that the examples I mentioned are very minor but we just had an overall sense of not being a priority at the resort. Again, I don't want this review to take away from the beauty of the resort. Maybe if we stayed a little longer all of these minor incidents would have been forgotten but in a short trip those little issues really stood out. I would recommend the resort to family and friends because the place is beautiful and the food and drinks are amazing. Anyone reading this that booked a stay or deciding to book a stay please don't let my review deter you. You will have an amazing time I just thought I would explain my recent stay in hopes of keeping someones expectations in check.

I am still giving the hotel five stars because I feel it was absolutely incredible but I would be remiss to write a review of my stay and not warn others about the immoral and near disgusting experience we had with the Unlimited Vacation Club Staff. Hotel: Landscaping and grounds were beautiful, rooms were immaculate, pool was amazing and beach was better. What really made this hotel was the Staff. I've stayed at many hotels in Mexico and the staff is always friendly but here I felt they went above and beyond for hotel guests. They help you find chairs on the beach and lay your towels out, they bring you food on the beach (that was a first), they provide pleasant conversation, and during the rainy days they did everything in their power to provide entertainment. Really top notch. The Spa, THE SPA!! Amazing. My favorite things were; Japanese restaurant (we didn't get a chance to try Hibachi but just did the regular restaurant for two nights), The covered walkway from your room to the lobby if it's raining, the omelet station, and the SPA!! And of course the beautiful beach!! The beach chairs were also incredible, I fell asleep at least twice. Now for the warning. We listened to the pitch to get $300 to the spa (our choice) and based on the conversation ended up purchasing. We wanted more time to think but they kept denying that request so we just did it (our error). As time went on and I did more research, they lied about everything. What we thought we bought and what we actually bought were two entirely different things. We went back to the sales office on our last day to cancel (by contract you signed you have 5 days to get FULL REFUND). Most of the staff was very pleasant and our sales representative was not upset at all. But of course, they bring in 4 other people to try and convince you to not return the package. I didn't have a problem with any of them except BARRY, an Apple Leisure Group Representative. Barry was so rude and first tried to tell me they activated something on our behalf and it's $1,400 and that can't be returned. Then he tried to convince me we can't cancel because there was one sheet of paper (not part of the contract) that we signed saying that, although your contract and member services says you can. Then this joker tried to tell me "they were just a sales office" and I couldn't cancel there (your contract CLEARLY says sales office). He was rude, condescending, and a snake. NEVER engage with him. My recommendation is take time to think about it, it's definitely beneficial to heavy travelers but not to the occasional resort goer. BARRY FROM MICHIGAN-you're unethical and miserable to work with. The rest of the staff and the girls who actually cancelled our contract in FULL were pleasant and not pushy at all.

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 6 nights. Hotel was beautifully decorated and landscaped. We enjoyed the variety of restaurants however the food quality could be improved some. For an all inclusive the food was better than prior ones I have stayed at so I'm guessing that is to be expected. We enjoyed having the daily Sundial newsletter with activity and event times. We had the app on our phone as well and would suggest that if you change the location of something or if it is canceled you send an update on the app. There was to be a fresh seafood market on central beach at noon and we made a point to be there for that and it wasn't there. We had to track down a staff member to find out they had moved it because they thought it was too windy on the beach that day. Overall though those were minor things and we thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was excellent at taking care of you and was very friendly. We would definitely stay again!
