Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

This was my 9th time visiting Mexico and my first time staying at Secrets Maroma. I chose this resort based on the great reviews, but looking back, I wish I had researched more about the vibe and whether it matched what I personally enjoy. Arrival & Check-In Check-in itself was pretty quick, but surprisingly, the welcome drink took about 10 minutes to arrive. I’ve never experienced that at other resorts, so it definitely stood out. The lobby was honestly the worst I’ve seen for a so-called 5-star resort. It didn’t feel luxurious at all. My advice: don’t expect much here so you won’t be disappointed like I was. Room We were assigned Building 14, second floor, the furthest room in that building. The room was okay — nothing special. The highlight was the large two-person bathtub, which was great. Resort Grounds & Beach The resort grounds are beautiful. Out of our 5 days, we could only swim in the ocean 3 days due to waves and seaweed, but when we could swim — wow. The beach is absolutely stunning (I’ll add photos). We rented a cabana one day from 9am–5pm, and honestly… I didn’t want to leave. Totally worth it. PROS ⭐ Food – AMAZING Hands down the best part of this resort. Every restaurant was fantastic. They even have pop-up grills by the pool every day at noon. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. Best part? No reservations required for any restaurants — which was super convenient. ⭐ Service For the most part, service was very good. CONS ❌ Entertainment – Very disappointing Daytime entertainment was minimal. One day I spent all day at the pool and the only activity I saw was bingo with just a few people. At most resorts, staff actively engage guests — but don’t expect that here. Evening shows were average at best — simple acrobat performances in the theater. In the lobby, it was usually Latin music or piano playing. At 10pm they had a silent disco: • First night — in the lobby with FULL lights on (shocking) • Second night — finally in the club with dim lights (how it should be) • Another night — karaoke Overall… pretty boring. I believe this is because about 80% of guests are 60–70+ years old. I really wish I paid more attention to that in reviews. For us in our 40s, entertainment matters. We wanted a more lively, fun atmosphere. ❌ Birthday disappointment I came here for my birthday. When we arrived, there was a note and a small treat saying “Happy Anniversary” — NOT birthday (how do you mess that up?). On my actual birthday? Absolutely nothing. No balloons, no room surprise — very disappointing. ❌ Room service mistakes Twice, I received the wrong sandwich. ❌ Prices inside the resort – INSANE • Nausea medicine: 8 pills for $35 🤯 • 25-minute foot massage: $140 🤯 Completely ridiculous pricing. I honestly wish people wouldn’t use these services so they’d be forced to make prices reasonable. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for fun daytime and nightlife entertainment — spend your money elsewhere. If you want great food and a beautiful beach, then Secrets Maroma delivers — just don’t set your expectations too high. If this is your first time traveling, you’ll probably love it. But for a well-traveled person who has been all over the world — this resort fell short.

My wife and I stayed at Secrets Maroma Resort from 11/6/25 to 11/14/25; we also had our wedding at the resort. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after with exceptional service. Every employee we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. The cleaning team did an amazing job every day ensuring our room was clean and fresh. The employee who restocked our mini bar, Efrain, always gave us extra Coke Zero when we mentioned that we enjoyed it. The building’s concierge, Brandon, provided unparalleled service. He gave me scissors when I asked right at arrival, answered any questions we had about the resort, and always made sure we knew he was available to contact. All of the employees in the lobby were also extremely kind. On our last day, we were waiting in the lobby for about 45 minutes for our shuttle to the airport (the shuttle was not booked through the resort). The lobby staff checked on us throughout our time waiting, and booked a taxi for us when we were told by our shuttle service that our ride had been cancelled (again, the shuttle was booked through a 3rd party not connected to the resort). We have recommended this resort to all of our friends and family. Elizabeth was our wedding planner and coordinator. She was absolutely exceptional; she was organized, detailed oriented, and followed through on all her statements. She provided excellent support and service on our wedding day and was available throughout our entire stay. Elizabeth was flexible and knowledgeable; we changed our mind last minute to having the reception dinner in the ballroom, and she seamlessly pivoted. She coordinated our spa times for hair and makeup, and provided an extra room for one of us to use for getting ready. She worked with Isaac, the photographer, to ensure that all photos we wanted were captured. The staff of waiters present for the cocktail hour and reception provided personable, excellent service. During our reception, one of our guests had a minor medical emergency and Elizabeth as well as all staff present jumped into action. They made sure our guest was okay and provided medical attention while also ensuring the reception continued to run smoothly. Two waiters stood out to us and our guests: Hugo and Gloria. Both Hugo and Gloria provided the best service we’ve ever had to us and our families. Elizabeth, the wedding team, and the special events staff were highly impressive, and we recommend them to anyone looking to have their wedding at Secrets Maroma. Isaac was our photographer through Adventure Photos, the resort’s photographers, on our wedding day. Prior to the wedding day, we had a meeting with Isaac to discuss desired poses and style of photography, as well as specific shots. He was attentive and a great listener, and made us feel comfortable throughout the meeting. Both my wife and I agree that on our wedding day, we did not notice Isaac taking our photos; he blended into our guests and the background so well that he did not draw extra attention to himself. We really appreciate this, as I never felt that I had to pose for photos during candid shots. Isaac gave us a reasonable timeline for when our photos would be delivered, and we received all of our edited photos less than one month after the wedding. My wife and I recommend working with Adventure Photos, and especially with Isaac.

We were here in December of 2025 for a friend's wedding and had a great time! The hotel is beautiful and peaceful, grounds immaculately maintained, staff was very friendly, and our personal concierge, Francia Torres, was amazing. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay went smoothly. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Secrets Maroma. Very pleased with our trip experience. The staff made us feel genuinely welcomed as soon as we arrived. The resort location and setting is beautiful— and the Maroma Beach location is fabulous. One of the most beautiful beaches we have been to. Everything from the grounds, to the rooms is well maintained. The resort is thoughtfully designed with the pool and the restaurants having easy access no matter where your room accommodation is on the resort. We thoroughly enjoyed the quaintness feeling we had while staying here. The food is very very good. We are “foodies”, and we were well pleased with our dining experiences. There is a good variety of restaurants - no reservation required, buffet option, plus pool side burgers or wood stove pizzas during the day. This resort has superb and excellent service across all areas, and every detail is thought of. Our room was cleaned before we came back from our morning outing each day. We especially enjoyed relaxing at the beach, and the drink service by Marvin, Leo, and Alberto was excellent. Marvin would anticipate what we may want and bring 2. As well we received drink service at our swimup room which was ocean front - we were not expecting this so was an added plus for us. Our concierge Marcelo was excellent - down the hall from our room, Marcelo welcomed us cheerfully each day and made sure we had all we needed. Our spa experience exceeded our expectations as well - ask for Dorca. I do not usually go to the same resort twice, but do plan to return to Secrets Maroma. It was a perfect combination of relaxing, and pampering.

Had a wonderful time. Angel out butler was amazing. Will definitely come back
