Secrets Maroma July 2025

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

We had an excellent stay at Secrets Maroma in early July 2025. Food/drink, services and accommodations were at or above our expectations. The only drawback was the amount of seaweed on the beach during our stay. The staff was cleaning the seaweed off the beach nonstop, but there was just so much washing up this time of year. There was so much to do and enjoy at Secrets Maroma that we still had a great experience in spite of the seaweed.

Maroma Never Disappoints!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

This is our fifth stay with Secrets Maroma over the past 9 years. We originally had our wedding here in 2016 with 28 guests and they all still talk about it to this day! Everyone loved the hotel, staff and restaurants. We have come back several times to celebrate our anniversary and this time we brought new friends who enjoyed it just as much! We stayed in a preferred club swim out with Roberto as our concierge. He was so attentive, engaging and really made our experience top notch! He was able to take care of any request we had and had great communication with any reservations we needed, spa, daybeds and dinner. Pablo, our waiter from the Bordeaux French Restaurant, provided us with and amazing experience in the private wine room. He was very attentive, and we were even able to meet the chef of our amazing meal! I love that each time we come back to Maroma the stay never disappoints and even has been able to exceed our expectations each year. I look forward to enjoying the new renovations with the buffet and the Preferred cub lounge on our next visit. We visited during the 4th of July this year and was thoroughly impressed with the entertainment staff and all of their productions. The 4th of July show was amazing and the fireworks were the cherry on top. So much hard work goes into each show/event and it does not go unnoticed. When they say at Maroma, welcome home, it does feel like we have come home each time we stay there.

Made a Cancún lover out of me

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

Our great experience started with the super private and secluded drive into the resort. From there we were greeted with a beautiful and luxurious lobby and welcomed from the amazing staff. Our room was ready upon arrival and we quickly started our vacation. The room was perfect for us. We loved our swim out pool. The beach was so beautiful and felt very private. It was seaweed season but it didn’t stop us from getting in the water as the resort worked tirelessly to have the seaweed controlled and cleaned. Our concierge, Roberto always greeted us with our name and assisted us with anything we needed. Was our first time to Mexico and a Secrets. We cannot wait to experience what else Secrets has to offer!

Ok but not worth the extra cost.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This was my first time to a Secrets Resort. I don’t think it was worth the higher price. The room was great and clean but they are in all of the resorts we’ve been to. The food was great but not any better than other resorts. The entertainment was average. The main elevators were broke. This was a problem for a lot of people. They had one golf cart that you could call to have them come take you but had to wait quite a bit. They had 2 golf carts a couple of days before we left. I’m ok with steps but it was an inconvenience for my sister. I think Secrets should have informed us prior to arriving and given us an option of switching resorts. They did offer but it was 2 days before we left. Not the resorts fault but the seaweed was terrible and smelly. 😏 all in all we made the best of it.

Secrets for seniors and secret construction

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We decided to stay here for our honeymoon after seeing many raving reviews. This was the most average resort I have stayed at. The resort failed to mention they were undergoing construction and we were surprised to see a lot of construction going on and the breakfast/lunch buffet area relocated to their conference room area. This really threw off the vibes. They would blast music from the construction area everyday to try to drown out the construction noise I guess. I also did not like the timeshare poachers who annoy you as soon as you check in. They are like vultures hovering around the main lobby and concierge trying to find prey. The only plus points were the decent room, the evening dining a la carte options, and the customer service. Daily breakfast buffet was okay as they had variety and changed items each day. The lunch buffet was very pathetic with them trying to reuse/repurpose the most random items. I noticed they had vegetarian/vegan options, but no sugar free options whatsoever. The worst food was at the variety show. We met an elderly couple there who were part of the timeshare deal and they told us ever since Secrets was bought by Hyatt, the quality has gone downhill. The shows were overall alright, but the theatre area for shows like Rock night is somewhat small to accommodate all resort guests. The activities during the day were also sparse. There were never 2 options at the same time. If you were late or even exactly on time for some activities i.e. art activities, there was no space and nothing else to do at the same time- I figured since the major demographic of this resort are elderly folks, that's why there may not be many activities. We did go to the spa which was nice with their hydrotherapy pools, steamer, and sauna, albeit a bit pricey. Be also warned about taxi service from the resort. The taxi driver did not abide by standard posted price fares of taxis in Playa del Carmen and dropped us off at the farthest end of 5th ave after overcharging us by about $10. Overall, I think I really did not get much bang for my buck with this resort. I really wish the resort would have warned me about their ongoing construction.
