Reviews for Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
We had a wonderful week in a preferred club junior suite swim out. The room was large and comfortable, and having the pool at the steps of our patio was a special treat. Our building concierge, Miguel, was great in meeting our needs and special requests. The layout of the resort is very good. Everything is within a 5-minute walk and the grounds are absolutely beautiful with music playing softly from hidden speakers as you go along the pathways. The facilities are well-maintained and there is staff at nearly every turn. The front facade of the resort is fairly plain, but once you pass through the front door, you begin to see that this is a special place. As with most all-inclusive resorts, the staff can make or break a great experience. Our experience was terrific. Special shout out to Yomelly, who works around the pool area ... he took special care of us upon our arrival. We were early for check-in, so we went to the pool for a few hours until our room was ready. Yomelly told us to relax and when our room was ready he would let us know. He kept in touch with the preferred club, brought us our room keys and then arranged for our concierge to come meet us at the pool and take us to our room. On several mornings he also helped us find available chairs in the area we wanted. Policing the chairs (yes, there is a bit of the chair game here) is a tough job and he handles it well. The entertainment staff also did a great job. There is no pressure to participate, but if you do, they'll make sure you have a good time. Shout out to Mini Cooper (thanks for the jungle bike tour) and Noemi (thanks for the kitchen tour) who were a blast to be around all week. The food and overall service was very good. We enjoyed the oven pizza and fresh catch of the day at the pool. The hibachi dinner (you need reservations) was our favorite ... excellent food and the chef made it super fun. The World Cafe (buffet) is great for breakfast. Portofino and Bordeaux were also very good. Surprisingly, the Mexican resaturant (El Patio) was our least favorite The beach was absolutely beautiful ,,, wide with powder white sand. There was seaweed, but they worked everyday to remove it. If you walk south for 30-40 minutes you can reach Maroma Marina. Walking north you will probably only want to go for 15 minutes; after that you come to a deserted resort and the beach is a mess to walk across (lots of debris). There are two main pools 30 feet apart ... one is the activity pool and the other is the relaxing pool, which looks out over the beach to the ocean. The spa facility is very nice. We enjoyed the hydrotherapy circuit. Massage prices are very high, but they do offer a daily special and those in the preferred club rooms get a coupon book with some OK discounts. If you really want a massage, walk south on the beach next to the resort and there is a massage and nail service at significantly lower cost. We thought the nightly entertainment was pretty good. We've seen very similar shows at other Secrets resorts, but they're still fun to see again. They had a cirque du soleil type show, a 70's rock show, a water acrobatic show at the pool, a comedian, etc. There was also live music in the main lobby each evening which was very relaxing while having a drink (drink service is very good). Two days at the pool they also had live music ... one day a girl in a bikini playing the saxophone on a plexi-glass stage in the pool and then another day a guy playing hit songs on a harp ... it was pretty cool and a nice unexpected touch. One evening they had live music on the beach. A couple of evenings they had dinners out by the pool ... one was Mexican night and I would recommend it. We felt very pampered during our stay and left feeling refreshed and relaxed. This is a really great resort.

Well kept facility with lots of good food options and a great beach. Great staff and rooms, only complaint is the swim-out lazy pools are freezing and unusable. The front pool closest to the ocean is quite cold as well.

All the staff were amazing and met our every need. I was sad to leave. But thankful for the opportunity. Our personal concierge Roberto was very helpful and great job by Eleazer our housekeeper!!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Secrets Maroma Beach location starting mid April for 5 nights and for the most part this resort exceeded our expectations. First, I need to say that our typical vacation choice rarely includes all-inclusive properties and we generally gravitate to more "off the beaten path" destinations. However, our interest in this particular resort was piqued by the dining options and fantastic reviews given by other travelers. We would highly recommend this resort for a quick getaway / recharge type vacation. We had some absolute high-points that should be mentioned. We came expecting great dining options and were not disappointed. Our absolute favorite meal came at the Mexican themed El Patio Restaurant where Chef Hugo treated us to one of the best meals we have ever eaten. The course progression was thoughtful from the light octopus ceviche to the lamb with an amazing mole' sauce. Our waiter Esteban took great care of us and described our meal so we knew exactly what to look forward to in each course. Headwaiter Luis was extremely knowledgeable regarding our questions and introduced us to some fantastic tequilas while taking care of the rest of the details. My wife and I will look back on this particular evening for many years to come. Thanks again to the fantastic staff at Patio for making this possible. We had other dinner favorites to include the Oceana seafood restaurant and the Bordeaux French restaurant. Our concierge Luis at building 12 should also be mentioned for helping us with our reservations and questions regarding the dining options. Finally, thanks to captain Jorge who took us on two short snorkel trips out to the reef and pointed out a manta ray and sting ray on the same trip. Most of the resort is what you would expect from a place of this caliber. The grounds and rooms were immaculate. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at World Cafe very much as all of the staff were pleasant and helpful. We didn't catch the name of the cook on the pancake station who sliced fresh strawberries for my wife each morning. The beach was fantastic and the water equipment staff were all cheerful and knowledgeable about the kayaks, hobie cats, etc. Lastly, a few things that could be better. I won't even go in to details on the VIP package sales staff other than to say that my recommendation is to be firm with them and they will leave you be. I did end up pulling the plugs from the room phones to avoid the morning sales calls. I'd also avoid the late reservation at the hibachi restaurant. While our waiter was quite good, in general the meal felt rushed and nothing quite messes up a meal like some underdone scallops. By the end of our trip, we both felt absolutely pampered and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Secrets Maroma to other travelers.

My husband and I just got back from our vacation to Secrets Maroma and we loved it! We have been going to Sandals resorts the last few years, but we decided to switch it up since we had heard so many great things. I was all stressed out about the time share breakfast speech before I got there, but it ended up being okay. They do try to convince you to sign up when you check in, but we just kept saying "no, sorry we really aren't interested" and they never called us after that. We had a preferred room so I don't know if that helped? We only had two complaints the whole time we were there. My husband wasn't happy that he wasn't able to wear shorts in the restaurants. He brought one pair of pants and had to wear them all week. He has nice (dressy) shorts that he wasn't able to wear. I get that you don't want guys to walk in wearing ugly swim attire, but a nice dressy pair of Macy's shorts should really be okay! And our only other complaint was that we thought the pool was a little quiet. We LOVED the foam party on Thursday because they finally had a DJ by the pool. I would suggest having this pool party more than just one day. Or maybe have a "Dj hour" at the pool or something. I get that people want it to be quiet and relaxing but it was a little too quiet sometimes ;) The shows were the best I have ever seen on a resort! I have seen the Beatles show in Vegas and it was just as good!! We loved the rock show as well. The food was amazing. We loved every meal we had!! The staff was truly amazing and made you feel so welcome. We loved our concierge Rogelio in building 16. The pool bar bartenders were all great - especially angel! He made us our favorite raspberry drink each day. Definitely book the Japanese restaurant as soon as you get there. Also - book a cabana when you arrive too. We had the cabana two days and it was great! About the seaweed - it's the ocean and it happens. HUGE shout out to the guys who worked all day to get the seaweed off the beach for all the guests. Chair game - we were surprised to find the chairs were all taken by the pool by 8 am, but it really wasn't a big deal since we loved being down by the beach. As my husband said "you can sit by a pool anywhere!" Way better view down at the beach and we loved the beach bar with the swings. Just to make sure....go to the beach!! Get chairs....enjoy it. The holiday inn in your hometown has a pool but it doesn't have the beach bar etc. you can go back and forth to the pool bar at anytime. We absolutely loved the live music they had in the lobby bar each night during dinner. The singers were amazing. One guy sounded like he should be on broadway - seriously. Our favorite restaurants were the Japanese and Italian, but we loved them all!! We were used to sandals where you get drinks in your room, but you can just order room service whenever you want! Every morning we called to get our two mimosas and coffee. We met some great friends on this trip that we will see again, and all the people at the resort went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. I'm missing it already! Also - make sure to get the poolside pizza!! It is amazing! We had it for lunch every day. Our favorite was the pepperoni and sausage - yummmmm We will definitely be back!!!!! One other thing.... you can get into the Japanese restaurant at night without a reservation if you don't want the show. You can order off a separate menu and get sushi, etc Just as good :)
