Great resort with great staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

We had such an amazing stay at Secrets Maroma in Cancun! From the beautiful resort to the incredible food and all the fun activities, everything made our honeymoon so special. All of the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. A special thank you to our personal concierge, Francia Torres, who was absolutely amazing! She was so helpful with anything we needed and always made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. Her kindness and attention to detail truly made our experience even better!! My husband and I had the most wonderful honeymoon, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. There are so many activities to enjoy, so much delicious food to try, and plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the beautiful resort. We had an unforgettable time and will definitely be back! We highly recommend Secrets Maroma to anyone looking for an amazing getaway.

What an amazing resort!!!

I have so many amazing things to say about this resort. The service was phenomenal, specific shoutout to Alejandro at World Café. He took great care of us! Book Amstar for round trip transportation to and from the airport for ease. Everyone was so friendly and it was such a nice atmosphere where multiple staff went out of their way to help. My boyfriend is gluten free and they knew and helped him with options the whole trip. When we did the hibachi, Antonio was fantastic! In terms of overall value for our experience, we thought it was well worth it! We stayed five nights and the quality of what was delivered was a bang for our buck. They had a great assortment of day activities, but I will say the evening activities after the theater show were not as lively, but did not expect it to be anything crazy, so that wasn’t a disappointment. The one thing though I was disappointed in was our view. We got an ocean view room and it looked more so at the construction going on right now rather than the ocean. I told the lobby concierge my concern and they offered us a beach bed for the day which was very nice. To conclude, I 10/10 recommend to go to Secrets Maroma, it was a beautiful resort with fabulous food, great service, and a calming and fun atmosphere! Miss it already!

My wife and I just wrapped up a 4 nights stay at Secrets Maroma and I cannot recommend it enough! The service, food and stay were all top notch. Our concierge, Roger was always available and quick to help us with anything we had questions about and he made sure we had the best time. PS. The preferred lounge bartenders are amazing!!

Just My Take

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Since there are thousands of reviews for this property, I'll highlight things others may not talk about Low toilets: I'm tall so when the toilet reaches the bottom of my calves, I'm not too thrilled. However, this seems to be a trend in a lot of hotels as of late. Low to the ground is what I do on the dance floor not in the bathroom! Scented toilet paper: I couldn't figure out where the scent was coming from... It's the toilet paper. That's not ideal for people with sensitive skin and/or allergies. This is the first Secrets property I've visited that has scented toilet paper. No toothbrush or toothpaste: I stayed in a Preferred Club room and the beauty amenities left much to be desired. Nada! Nothing. Bring everything you think you may need. Yes, there was shampoo, conditioner and body wash. No preferred pool: I've wanted to visit this property for years and other Secrets employees rave about this property. It's my fault for not reading all the reviews and information about the Preferred Club perks. NO POOL really turned me off. I'm a lounge by the pool girlie and I was able to this at the two large pools but it just wasn't the same as other Preferred Club experiences. You have to find your own seating, get your own towels, and set up your chairs. I have absolutely no problem doing this, however, if I'm paying more, this would be nice. Also, bartenders don't come around that often. Therefore, I chose a seat close to the bar so I could get my own drinks if there wasn't anyone around. Needed fan for room: When we got to the room, the concierge said we could order a fan if needed . I've never needed a fan in any other property I've stayed at. However, I definitely ordered the fan after about 30 minutes in the room. The cord is short so the fan will be directly next to the bed. Housekeeping : One day they didn't come and it was 3:34 pm and they get off at 4: I had to contact the concierge about this issue on our second day. He said he would send someone but I was tired and just wanted to relax. He did make sure that they came earlier the rest of my stay. Once again, Preferred isn't preferred at this property. Restock of mini fridge: No restock at 5 pm. You can ask for more to be restocked but why should I have to if you see we consumed what was originally left. You get one M&M and one Pringles; there are two people in the room and it's Preferred. Cutting back on plastic: Reusable water bottles and water stations throughout the resort. No, you can't take them home unless you buy one. Preferred Beach: the Preferred section is the beach is right next to the non Preferred section. I didn't spend much time on the beach because the water had seaweed (not their fault). Just another reason why Preferred isn't needed. Food: The food is good! No complaints. Even the pickiest eater should be able to find something they like. From the buffet to the specialty restaurants. Shout out to the chef who prepares the stew chicken at the lunch buffet. I'm still thinking about it! Preferred Club lounge: This is one of the reasons I would get Preferred Club. This lounge is stunning! I watched part of the World Cup in here. So if you are here to drink and relax, this is an amazing experience. It's the best Club level lounge I've been in thus far. Sidebar, I thought I left my keys in my room and I went to the lounge to ask them to call someone to come and open the door for me. They did not have a phone in the lounge. The phone is on the concierge's desk. This just seems a bit odd to me, no phone or walkie talkie. Spider monkeys: The are real. We saw them walking around the property at night. I'm 1000% a city girl so I will admit, I was scared. Lol. Dress code: Highly enforced for men if you want to eat indoors. I find it silly because men can wear jeans and sneakers and women can wear denim shorts and tank tops. Therefore, it's not truly dressing up so let men wear shorts. It's vacation and it's hot. Ocean view room: When I booked and saw ocean view room, I was excited because I never pay for ocean view. You can see a speckle of the ocean through the trees. It seems a little deceptive to me. Preferred Club isn't necessary at this property in my opinion unless you want to visit the Preferred Lounge and eat at Preferred Club Oceana Restaurant for breakfast and lunch. I love breakfast and Oceana didn't disappoint. They are building a new pool so things may change a little. There are some things I absolutely loved here: the food, Coco Cafe, and the Preferred Lounge. However, they weren't enough for me to have a repeat visit. Special thank you to Roberto for being an attentive and helpful concierge.
