My husband and I returned today from this little piece of paradise after renewing our vows for our 25th wedding anniversary. I cannot put into words how well we were treated. I cannot recommend this resort enough. We didn't feel like guests but like family. A special thank you to our concierge Miguel, Cristina and Crazy Marcos from the entertainment team, Lucas our poolside waiter and last but by no means least Arley from the weddings team. We WILL be back.

Back home after having spent 12 days at this wonderful resort with my wife as part of our 31st wedding anniversary celebration. Safe to say it has been one of our best vacations ever. Pros From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were made to feel very welcome and at home. Check in was quick and easy and already we were being offered drinks whilst we completed the process. The entire hotel is spotlessly clean and beautiful. We were located at Building 15 room 30 which is on floor 3. The room was advertised as being a partial ocean view one but there was no ocean to be seen from our terrace only the hotel gardens, however this was not an issue for us since we spent little time in the room. The room itself was large and airy with good natural light, a big four poster bed, large bathroom and all the necessary amenities to make your stay an unforgettable one. Although we never saw our chambermaid, he/she kept the room spotlessly clean and made sure we never ran out of soap, shampoo etc. Similarly our mini fridge was always stocked up with drinks especially mineral water. Whilst there was ongoing construction in the neighbouring resort, resulting in some noise, this this not disturb us. The hotel has a number of restaurants to choose from with food and drinks readily available all day. Our preferred restaurants were the Oceana (seafood), Seaside Grill (meat) Portofino (Italian) and World Cafe (buffet). We also tried the El Patio (Mexican) and Bordeaux (French) and whilst the food in these two latter ones was good, it did not WOW us. We did not try the Hibachi Grill. For lunch time snacks we would use the Barefoot Grill or the Pizza stall and the food served in these was excellent. The night time shows were in general of a good quality. We loved the Rock show, the Mentalist show, the Fire show and the tribute to IL Divo show. We did not attend the Beatles show as their music does not appeal to us so cannot comment on the quality of this show. We found the Circus show to be a total let down, as far as to say it was embarrassing to watch. Daytime entertainment activities were excellent and varied throughout our stay. Recommend the Kayak tour to the coral reef. The hotel pools and grounds were beautiful and we were spoilt for choice as to where we wanted to sunbathe and swim. We never experienced or saw the unsociable practice of people hogging sun loungers which is common in other hotels. Without doubt, the hotel beach is by far, the best one we have ever visited. The soft white sand was amazing with beautiful scenery and vistas to take in whilst taking a stroll. The hotel beach amenities were excellent. The ocean was warm and lovely to swim and it was common to have schools of fish swimming around you. The beach does suffer from high quantities of seaweed floating ashore but hotel staff were constantly clearing up and were on top of the situation. Strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to rise up early one day and watch the sunrise on the beach. you will not regret it. Cons The only negative comment we have about our stay concerns the hotel's sales/marketing team when they approach you to try to convince you to buy into the VIP Loyalty program/Unlimited Vacation Club. We were approached on two separate occasions and on both, politely yet firmly told them we were not interested. They appeared displeased, that we did not want to attend their sales pitch but we were not prepared to sit through a one hour plus sales pitch on our holiday knowing that we would not buy into the program. During the course of our stay, I did hear first hand comments from other guests regarding their negative experience with this sales pitch. Staff Without doubt the hotel's greatest asset is the majority of its staff who make you feel so welcome and go out of their way to help you with any request. Special mention to Saul - beach attendant, Miguel - concierge building 15, Irma - Oceana / Seaside Grill restaurant hostess and Antonio - Seaside Grill waiter. We will definitely be returning to this resort and highly recommend it.

First time at a Secrets property and it was night and day different from the others in a good way. The beach was very nice. We had a romantic dinner in the beach and it was a one of a kind experience. We will be returning.

Just returned from Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera and can only say what a wonderful time we had! I had been looking at this resort for a couple of years now but not been able to get availability. Was absolutely thrilled when I was able to secure a room through Virgin Holidays at a reasonable rate, they only had tropical view junior suites available, but I was happy for anything! Our trip went very smoothly, despite waiting over an hour for our bags to arrive on the baggage belt, however we very quickly were met by our private transfer through Cancun Cab (Blue Oval) and taken to Secrets Maroma. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne, we had requested oceanview if available, but it appears that 2 blocks of rooms were closed for a makeover (all blocks will be having this) so this is why we could only secure a tropical view room. We were taken to our room, which was so lovely, the bellboy advised that our personal Concierge, Alejandra would be up shortly to welcome us, There was a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us along with a fruit platter and welcome letter, even after a very long trip from London, we were bowled over by the attention given to us by the staff. We dined in Oceana that evening, the seafood restaurant near the ocean, the only restaurant you need to make reservations for is the tepanyaki one, Himitsu, which Alejandra did for us for a couple of evenings later, she is a fantastic Concierge, lovely girl! Breakfast - world cafe - amazing, they even have a juice bar outside to make any kind of juice/smoothie that you wanted with a huge selection of fruit/seeds/coconut/oats etc. The beach - well, this more than lived up to its reviews, fantastic and it is kept so clean and groomed throughout the day, all of the beach loungers have padded cushions so were really comfortable! A couple of days throughout our trip there was a little seaweed in the ocean, but this was cleared very promptly. The weather was just the best, the sun shone from the first morning we awoke until the day we left to come home, although there was a little rain sometimes overnight. Loved, loved loved our time there.I must thank Manuel, waiter in Oceana and Seaside Grille, who went much more than the extra mile, he made us feel like the most important people in the world, absolutely fantastic employee. Also the beach drinks servers/bar tenders, Marina, Ruben, Antonio, Lucas, Jamie, Eder, Todicio, they gave by far the best beach service ever! All in all, amazing holiday!
