We spent 3 days at Secrets Maroma the first week of November 2017. I don't normally write reviews, but since these were so helpful to me when I was planning our trip, I wanted to add my 2 cents worth! We were there for our 20th anniversary and stayed in building 15, with a first floor swim out. We only got in the pool there because we had paid for it and wanted to say we did. If you were staying in a hotter part of the year, it would be awesome, but since it was so nice on the beach, we spent ALL of our time on the beach. Highly, highly recommend Oceana and the grill next door for dinner. The ambiance and view were spectacular. For breakfast we ate the buffet everyday... it was delicious and VERY comprehensive with what it provided. The number of people in that space was overwhelming to me but the live music each morning kept me going back (one day sax, one day a harpist). We ate lunch at the beach beds, but there was a huge buffet by the pool every day that was quick and easy. If the fire show happens one a night when you are there... GO! It was fabulous and something you would easily pay $50 for tickets to go see at home. I do want to emphasize that you will be given a time share pitch at check -in. I was exhausted from traveling at that point and politely said no thanks (it's an invitation to a breakfast to get the full sales pitch) and got no push back, so it was fine. I did see numerous couples getting the tour in the mornings and I'm sure there was a benefit to doing it ( a free massage I think??). Besides that, it was the most relaxing and enjoyable 3 days of my life... and honestly 3 days wasn't long enough to decompress from the pressure of travel and get into the swing of the rhythm of relaxing (if that makes sense). The staff at the resort was second to none... so kind and helpful. We enjoyed every conversation or interaction we had. I commented to my husband that it was a real bummer to get back to the Atlanta airport with surly TSA after the positive and helpful attitudes at Secrets! There was definitely a mix of ages at the resort... honeymooners, young 20 somethings in groups, mid 30's and 40's couples like us, and then lots of groups of 50's and 60's age. I can't think of a single negative thing. Our concierge on our floor (Nati) was knowledgable and helpful, always called us by name when we saw her in the halls. Alejandro and Armando at the beach beds went above and beyond to provide excellent service and we truly enjoyed getting to know them. If you wanted to "do" something or get a little rowdy there was a place to do that or if you wanted to relax and stare at the ocean in peace and quiet you could do that. The grounds were beautiful and immaculate. There was construction going on, but it was camouflaged so well that neither saw or heard it. The sand on the beach is perfectly white and the beach is raked and kept clean ... it truly was a remarkable experience and I would highly recommend it!

This was our first time doing a AI vacation. We booked last minute because we had to cancel our Puerto Rico vacation due to hurricane Maria. We had alovely relaxing time. You can't go wrong choosing this resort. The resort is beautiful! Our favorite part was the location, Maroma beach, so beautiful, great for walking and swimming. We stayed in a remodeled room. They have installed louvered doors in front of the tub to make the bathroom more private. I saw pictures of the bathroom with a curtain in front of the tub after we booked. I'm glad they changed this. There was some construction going on but they did a good job keeping it hidden. It didn't bother us at all. Service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful! Overall the food was pretty good, and from what other guests we spoke to, excellent for AI. Some things we liked others were ok, a few were terrible but the food was always beautifully presented and we never went hungry. Our favorite restaurants were the Mexican, the Steak house and the Breakfast buffet. I liked that we didn't have to make reservations at most of the restaurants. I hate being on a schedule. We didn't eat at the Japanese, maybe we should have. Some minor cons: Rooms service food, most of what we got was not good. Our mini bar was not always restocked with the items we used. We only used the water and beer. It would be nice to have snack items in the room. Chips, nuts etc... Housekeeping was not consistent again with getting items we used restocked. Mostly hand towels and wash cloths House wine. We had some red that was ok. Oddly enough I found the whites to be terrible. We spoke to a couple who had brought their own wine. Wish I had done that. Would we return? Definitely!

This is a gorgeous resort with lots of things to do, places to relax and a great atmosphere in which to unwind. The service, for the most part, is exceptional especially if you rent one of the cabanas on the beach! The dinner establishments are very good and the food is excellent. We ate at both the French restaurant and the Hibachi one. (Men - be advised you must wear slacks inside these restaurants as nice shorts will not allow you in.) The rooms are fantastic, especially if you get one of the swim out rooms where there is a pool right outside your patio door (complete with floats on the property)! The only issue we had was with the patio buffet breakfast service. The food is amazing, but if you want coffee, water or juice count on waiting at least 20 minutes or more to be served. It happened to us three out of the four mornings we ate at the buffet. The fourth day we sat inside and the service was almost immediate so if you are used to having coffee promptly with your breakfast, sit inside. Also, you may not want a room close to the concierge's desk in your hallway if you like to sleep late. We could hear people talking at the desk at 8am given they were just outside our door. Overall, I would go back to this resort again just for the beauty and relaxation of this place.

This place is amazing! The staff is friendly and on point to take care of you. Food was fabulous. We would go back in a moment. Lots of fun stuff to do and explore near by. This was simply a great place for my wife and I to get to have some time alone.
