Reviews for Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

Dinner time with no reservations if a gong show.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

Dinner with no reservations is a gong show. It might sound good on paper but if you don’t like to eat dinner between 6-7 or 9-10 then this is not the place for you. Past 7 then the wait ends up being an hour long. We went down a few times just after 7 and the wait was already 10-15 tables long at all restaurants. We rarely finished dinner before 930. Very frustrating. And we weren’t the only ones to think so. At least with a reservation you know exactly when you are eating dinner. Even if it’s later. As most know, Seaweed is terrible which isn’t the resorts fault and not unexpected but worth knowing that the water is not swim-able. And if you like to walk on the beach it’s not pleasant. Tractors going back and forth all day as well. This isn’t a complaint but when you are making your decision, it is good to know. Servers/bartenders/cleaning staff were incredible though. They should be commended for their commitment and hard work.

Secret Maroma stay

We just finished up four nights at the resort and we couldn’t have had a better time. Our concierge, Angel, was absolutely wonderful and always responded quickly when we needed something.

This resort is the epitome of elegance and luxury.

From the very warm welcome, super-efficient check-in and speedy golf-buggy ride to our room we were made to feel very special and at home. We were in a Preferred Club room block 25 floor 4, and travelled from Manchester, UK. The room The room is a very good size with a large bed, a large sideboard for coffee machine (daily stocked with several different pods) and snacks (daily Pringles), the fridge (daily stocked with water, soft drinks and four bottles of beer), and plenty of storage. The bathroom is lovely with marble tiles on wall and floor and heavy antique brass fittings. There is a separate shower room with rainfall shower, and a separate toilet. Food The food quality was outstanding. All the evening restaurants are A la Carte, all included, no reservation needed, and no restrictions on how many times you use them. This is so much more relaxing that having to book and eat at a fixed time. All seven of them are amazing and we didn’t have a bad night. We generally ate out between seven and eight and only had to wait twice, each time being only a few minutes. There is also a Preferred Club restaurant/bar by the beach which is the most elegant beach bar I’ve been in, it was so nice to go barefoot from beach bed to restaurant. Room service is also included with a very good menu, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in all inclusive and I’ve visited many (Mexico as well as Europe and Africa). The World Cafe never felt crowded, and the resort was very busy during the two conferences during our stay. Beach/Pool This is one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever seen. We used the Preferred club part which has excellent sunbed spacing. You rarely felt that you were too close to someone else. The beach umbrellas are perfect and provide ample shade; there is also sufficient space to pull out into the sun. The sand is soft and white but doesn’t seem to blow up everywhere. The sunbeds are really comfy. The beach service is excellent. If you like to have some shade then the beach is better than the pool, although the pool is very well equipped with an umbrella to every pair of sunbeds. We hired a pool Bali bed one day and the views of the pool and rocks were stunning. Cost of Bali beds: Pool $180 includes a bottle of champagne (not fizz), beach presidential $180 sometimes discounted to $110, beach near the Preferred end $70, beach at the other end $110. Seaweed Yes, there is seaweed, but it is cleared all day long and never seems to be much of a problem. There were never huge piles on the beach. Staff As all the reviews say, all the staff are magnificent and go out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. I can’t remember everyone’s names but must mention our concierge Roberto who was an absolute treasure and very efficiently ensured that everything was as we wanted, even down to checking that we had the right coffee pods. The bar staff on the Preferred Beach during our stay were excellent and great fun. Shout out to Miguel, I’m sorry that I can’t remember the names of the others, but they were all great, especially the two girls. And of course, I couldn’t finish without complementing all the staff in the World Cafe.

Elevated experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

My husband and I are repeat guests at Secrets Maroma, we come twice a year for two weeks every time. We were here twice in 2024, once in 2025 and march 2026. During renovation of Seaside Grill and Oceana restaurants in 2025 we did not like our stay at the resort as much as we did in 2024. Now in march 2026 the resort bounced back on every level possible making our stay really unforgettable. Rooms: everything was working as it should, our housekeeper in room 2244 Maria was fantastic. The fridge was stocked daily with plenty of supplies. Our turndown service was amazing. Beach: We are beach people also pools looked very attractive and clean. During our stay there was quite a bit of sargassum drifted on shore. The tractor worked night and day (very quiet and did not smell of diesel) and kept beach in very good shape. Beach waiting service is phenomenal and bar on the beach is very nice. Plenty of sun beds even at 12 pm. Sun beds are very comfortable with little padded cushions. Plenty of beach towels during the day. Food: For breakfast and lunch, we went to World Café. The food quality and variety and presentation is fantastic. I really liked new seafood corner (freshly shucked oysters and clams). Freshly prepared juices and breakfast pastries are really tasty especially French toast. For lunch there are at least 4 types of freshest lettuce and lots of seafood. For dinner we went to Portofino, Bordeaux and Himitsu. This is really truly fine dining experience, starting with ambience, wait service and food presentation and beautiful wine glasses. These restaurants make us dress up a bit and provided elevated experience. Coco Café: With a new pastry Chief on board deserts are propelled to the highest level. If you see candid red apple on the Cafe display, try it if you like chocolate souffle, it’s out of this world. Deserts in Portofino and Bordeaux are equally good. People who work at the resort made our stay unforgettable. Johanna Reside, there is no problem she couldn’t resolve in the most efficient way possible. Francia Torres, personal concierge for building 22, from the moment we arrived and the minute we left we felt wrapped in her warm, professional and welcoming service. I wish that every building has concierge like her. Rodrigo Chavez, the most attentive, professional and warm person, made our stay very special. Jessica, food and beverage concierge, made us feel we coming back home every time.
