Reviews for Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

Had an amazing trip once again to Secrets Maroma

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

The property is beautiful and clean in all aspects, staff is attentive and always respond with “it’s my pleasure” with a smile on their face. The property went through a major renovation a few months ago and the attention to detail with their upgrades is top notch. I have to give a big shout out to Guillermo our concierge. He made our experience above and beyond my expectations. I’ve had many great butlers and concierges at all inclusives over the last two decades, but Guillermo is next level. Also, Jordy the bartender in premier club was amazing as well as the activity staff. There is always an activity going on at this resort that meets anything you would like to do. Pro tips: Wine cellar experience if you want to surprise your significant other, is well worth the bottle you have to buy. You get to choose from their top two restaurant menus (Portofino and Bordeaux). The honeymoon suite swim outs in building 17 and 27 are well worth it and right on the beach. Skip the Mexican restaurant unless you’re used to bland Tex-Mex that is far from authentic, but is made for the majority of people that aren’t used to ethnic food. Breakfast buffet is solid. If you like heat with your food, ask for Salsa Picante Habanero, they’ll dig it out for you. This time of year there is a lot of seaweed, but they are all over it with tractors and trucks cleaning it up as soon as the sun comes up, and it’s non-intrusive. We’re now at Secrets Playa Blanca for the second half of our trip. I’ll review it later, but I’ll give a small tidbit because a lot of people have been wondering about this new peppery. First, the propery is very beautiful. The sand isn’t Maroma, but it’s pretty close. They don’t have the same setup to clean the seaweed, but the water is aqua and much clearer. Also, I’ve heard that they have a mosquito problem here, but we had zero issues without telephony eating outside last night. Now the unfortunate (but we’re only starting on day two). We were excited to eat at Portofino with a more extensive menu. It can’t hold a candle to the quality of food as Portofino at Maroma. Staff did not give close to the same experience day one that you get at Maroma. That being said, there is still very good staff who are attentive and try, it’s just very inconsistent. I’ll review it when we finish the rest of our trip.

Fantastic stay - worth returning

I came to Secrets Maroma Beach expecting a true five-star experience, and that's exactly what I received. The resort, service, dining, accommodations, and overall atmosphere fully lived up to my expectations. I was very impressed with the quality of the resort and have already recommended it to a friend who is planning to visit in November. The only areas of disappointment were related to factors outside of the hotel's control and one room category issue. The beach did have a seaweed problem during my stay, but this is a natural occurrence. The hotel made every effort to keep the beach clean, with staff working hard and using tractors to remove the seaweed, although nature was relentless. I was also a little disappointed with the Ocean View room category, as I had paid an additional surcharge expecting a clear ocean view. Unfortunately, the view from my room was only a partial ocean view. That said, the room itself was excellent, comfortable, and well-appointed, and this was only a minor issue compared with the overall quality of the experience. Overall, Secrets Maroma Beach delivered the five-star vacation experience I was hoping for, and I have already recommended this resort to others.

Yet another amazing experience at a Secrets resort. Maroma beach was peaceful, welcoming, warm with a relaxing atmosphere and we were treated with over the top service from everyone. Roberto was very attentive and responsive to every need/question we had our entire stay. Very quiet/serene property, clean room, and an excellent spa! The food…by far the best we have had at any Secrets! Kudos to a wonderful job well done and thank you for the lovely experience!!

Beautiful Resort with World-Class Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We had a wonderful time at Secrets Maroma in the junior ocean view suite. The room was beautiful and spacious with a jetted tub. While there was a sargassum issue on the beach, we found plenty of space at the pool and there were a variety of activities to fill our time. Sargassum is completely out of the control of the resort and we appreciated their never-ending efforts to keep the beach clear. There’s unfortunately only so much that can be done with this natural phenomenon and seems to be a mainstay in the summer months. Some days are better than others, but it’s highly unpredictable. The two pools were spacious, but I did hope for more architectural interest like alcoves or waterfalls. One of the major highlights of our stay was our amazing building 24 concierge, Francia Torres. She always had the best smile and a friendly welcome. She helped us on numerous occasions to book taxis, arrange luggage, and even get into our room when we misplaced our keycard. Though she was caring for an entire building of travelers, every interaction made us feel like we were her priority. This hospitality extended across the resort and we never had a negative interaction with the amazing staff. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. As foodies, we hoped for a little more from the restaurants we visited. A few dishes lacked flavor or salt and we found that the desserts using gelatin (panna cotta and some mousses) were too firm. The quality is much better than an average restaurant and you can find exceptional dishes here and there. The World Cafe breakfast and lunch buffets, Bordeaux, and Seaside Grill were our favorites. Overall, the service and beauty of the resort along with all of the amenities will definitely bring us back for another visit.
