First Time At Maroma

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

This resort is in the top two that we have visited in Mexico. We have been to Mexico 25 times or so, visiting 10 - 12 different resorts. The service is what stands out. Especially concierge Roberto. He is a true professional, the best we have experienced during any trip in Mexico. He will no doubt be a hotel owner in the future. Margarita at Oceana morning and night was a pleasant soul who works very hard. Hugo at the poolside lunch bar is a gentleman with great personality. Food was very good. No reservations required at specialty restaurants. Food quality very good. Every day there was a different pool side buffet. This was very convenient. Plus, they had a separate poolside grill (with salad options) and a wood fired pizza oven. Cafe was good, similar to others we have been to. Alcohol (preferred club level) was outstanding. Grey Goose, Makers Mark, Woodford Reserve, Flora D’Cana, Appleton. Bartenders were outstanding. Activities were outstanding, as was the entertainment. There were multiple options during the day and at night. We enjoyed these thoroughly. The price was higher than we normally pay. But, along with this one other property, Maroma stands above the rest. Thank you for an outstanding vacation!

Exceptional Staff, Beautiful Resort & Unforgettable Birthday Memories

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

For our first trip to Mexico, we chose Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun to celebrate our Mum’s landmark birthday, and what an incredible decision it turned out to be. This was our first stay at a Secrets resort, and from the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. After a long flight, being greeted with a scented towel and a glass of champagne was a thoughtful touch that immediately set the tone for our holiday. The seamless luggage service during both check-in and check-out was also greatly appreciated. While the resort itself is beautiful, it was the people who truly made our stay so special. Every member of staff we encountered demonstrated exceptional professionalism, warmth and attentiveness. We were consistently impressed by how much pride they took in their work and how committed they were to creating memorable experiences for guests. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly our Mum’s birthday. We arranged the Day in Paradise package, along with room decorations, a birthday banner, balloons, flower petals and cake. The result exceeded all expectations and created memories that our family will cherish forever. A heartfelt thank you to Karen Ramirez and Angel Lopez from the Concierge Team for coordinating the celebrations so beautifully and keeping in regular contact throughout the process. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, and the room looked absolutely stunning. We would also like to recognise some of the wonderful team members who helped make our stay so memorable: • Louis (Check-In) – for ensuring a fantastic start to our stay and making us feel immediately welcome. • Clary (Lobby Waitress) – for her warm hospitality and consistently excellent service throughout our holiday. • Karen Ramirez & Angel Lopez (Concierge Team) – for their outstanding organisation, communication and attention to detail. • Manuel (Beach Concierge) – for ensuring Mum’s birthday celebrations by the beach ran perfectly. • Carolina (Beach Waitress) – for her attentive service during the birthday celebrations. • Isamar (Pool Waitress) – for her exceptional service and thoughtful attention to detail. • Victor (Pool Waiter) – for always going above and beyond to assist guests. • Josue (Coco Café Barista) – for the delicious coffees and sharing his knowledge of Mexico. • Maricruz (Breakfast Hostess & Seaside Restaurant) – for her kindness, warm smile and helping make Mum’s birthday breakfast extra special. • Lucio & Alejandro (Breakfast Waiters) – for their fantastic service, friendly conversations and helping us practise our Spanish. • Rebeca (Omelette Chef) – for preparing some of the best made-to-order omelettes we have ever tasted. • Sebastian & Lizeth (Breakfast Chefs) – for their incredible crepes, smoothies and pancakes. • Roberto (Breakfast Chef) – for consistently excellent breakfast dishes prepared with care. • Alejandra (Entertainment Team) – for her energy, enthusiasm and ability to make every guest feel included. • Angel (“Brown Sugar”) & Monica (Entertainment Team) – for creating fun and engaging activities that brought guests together. • Isabel & Oscar (Entertainment Team) – for taking the time to teach us Spanish and helping us embrace Mexican culture. • Priscilla Navarro (Restaurant Host) – for always greeting us warmly each evening and making us feel welcome. • Dario (Restaurant Waiter) – for outstanding service during Mexican and Mediterranean Night. • Hector (Portofino Waiter) – for his excellent recommendations and genuine hospitality. • Chef Beder – for the fantastic cuisine and for personally taking the time to greet us at our table. We would also like to thank the housekeeping team, who did an excellent job throughout our stay and always ensured our room was immaculate. To everyone at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, thank you for making our Mum’s birthday such a special occasion. We met wonderful people from all over the world, created memories that will last a lifetime, and experienced some of the very best hospitality we have ever received. ¡Gracias, Secrets Maroma! A truly magical and unforgettable experience. We cannot wait to return.

Pros and Cons- service excellent :)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

We had a wonderful time at Secrets Maroma. We had been to Akumal, and can't quite figure out if we preferred one over the other. Our travel agent was Jonathan- owner of Vacation Planning Company, who has a great relationship with Secrets. He made sure we were taken care of and sure enough- we were! PROS: 1. The cabanas, especially our service at the pool for 2 days with Isamar- friendly, kind, attentive... we enjoyed the cabanas SO much. 2. The hospitality from Estefani in sales went above and beyond- she CREATED a handwritten Golden Knights card to celebrate our team in the Stanley Cup, as she knew we were gearing up for the game to be played in their sports bar. She hand delivered it, along with her favorite snacks. That is TOP TIER service, and we would come back just for her. 3. Oceana restaurant- I am so sad we don't remember our server- he was so attentive, and made our experience special. The sea bass and mahi skewers are something I'm thinking about since being home!! 4. Beachside massages- book it. I've never had a beach massage and I gotta say... it was worth every penny. The most relaxed I've felt in years. 5. The grounds- absolutely spectacular grounds with special places for couples or groups to enjoy privacy and fun. Mini golf, chess board in the water, manicured lawns, gorgeous lighting and layout was immaculately designed. Not too big, not small enough to ever feel like we couldn't escape crowds. CONS: 1. The guests- this one is a bummer, because we met a few nice couples. However, we felt there were a huge amount of large parties, and normally that wouldn't bother us. This time, though, we booked Maroma as a quiet couples resort to get away from the "Vegas" feel of our home in... Vegas. The people were... hmm. Loud? Entitled? Rude? We had one woman on our first night assume we were cutting her in line and yelled "get the F (actual word) out of line"... so tacky and really took us aback. We noticed groups at the bar in the water who NEVER got out to use the restroom in 6-7 hours... but were drinking the whole time. Bladder of steel? orrrr.... ugh. Just cheapened the resort experience for us with the people who were vacationing especially at that price point. We did NOT notice that at Akumal, or LeBlanc Cancun. 2. Food possibly made me sick... I have eaten at AIs and in MX many times... I threw up twice, and had nausea and stomach ache the whole time. Could have been completely coincidental, but the second I got home, I was totally fine. ::shrug:: 3. Seaweed- out of control of the resort- but if you're going for the beach... avoid sargassum season. We were unable to get in the ocean and the beach stunk a decent amount of our trip which was disappointing, but did not ruin it. Did the pros outweigh the cons? I think maybe? But perhaps I'd only come back in off-season to enjoy the beach at it's prime, and to see Estefani and Isamar again :) They (and the cabanas!) were reason enough to come back to the resort time and time again.

Birthday and Friendmoon trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Our stay was wonderful. The resort was very cleaning, food was good, and all staff were amazing. We were here celebrating a wedding and a birthday. Our concierge Angel Lopez was very attentive, sending us a text every day with all the activities happening. Every time he would see us out and about he would stop and say hello and make sure we didn’t need anything. We will recommend this property to others.

Secrets Maroma - Thumbs Up!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We had a wonderful time at this resort. We selected Secrets Maroma to celebrate our babymoon. For our first time in Cancun / Mexico, it did not disappoint. There was always plenty to do to keep us busy throughout the day. We had plenty of restaurant options, each of them having really good foods. The staff onsite were fantastic and very courteous / professional during our stay. Well done team! Would highly recommend.
