Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

Secrets Maroma is an adults only all-inclusive. The service and food are the best we have experienced at a property like this. Well worth the visit.

We have stayed at many resorts in the Cancun area, and this trip was never originally part of the plan. We were stranded in Dallas after our flight to Puerto Vallarta was canceled due to civil unrest and airport closures in that region. We had been scheduled to stay at Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort, a resort we’ve visited before and thoroughly enjoyed. Once it became clear we would not be able to reach Puerto Vallarta due to both airport and road closures, I found myself scrambling in the airport to rebook flights and secure a new resort in order to salvage what was quickly becoming a vacation disaster. We secured last-minute flights to Cancun because online availability showed several Hyatt properties with rooms open for our dates. However, after calling Hyatt directly, we learned that most of those “available” rooms were no longer actually available. Fortunately, we were able to secure the last room at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. We’ve stayed at other Hyatt properties in Cancun that did not fully meet the expectations we typically associate with the brand. We had almost come to assume that Cancun properties simply didn’t deliver the same experience we were used to—much like Las Vegas today compared to years past. We arrived close to 10:00 p.m., expecting a rushed or scaled-down check-in experience. Instead, we were welcomed with the same level of professionalism and hospitality we’ve come to expect from top-tier Secrets properties, even at that late hour. Our initial room was very nice, and a few days later we were able to upgrade to an ocean-view room with Preferred Club access. From that point forward, this resort exceeded every expectation we have of the Secrets brand. The food was exceptional across the board—even breakfast felt elevated and high-end. One evening, we witnessed a fresh tuna being brought in for a live carving show. The chefs prepared sashimi, sushi rolls, and grilled tuna steaks immediately after butchering it. It was an experience unlike anything we have seen at any other resort. Despite being at full capacity, the resort never felt crowded. That is one of the most impressive aspects of the Secrets brand. The only slight wait we experienced was at Oceana for seafood dinner—understandable given its popularity. Since we had upgraded to Preferred Club, we enjoyed drinks and appetizers in the lounge while waiting, and the restaurant captain personally came to notify us when our table was ready. The staff’s level of commitment was incredible—attentive without being intrusive. They ensured everything was seamless without ever feeling overbearing. We also participated in a few dinner upgrades, which I highly recommend. At the hibachi grill, purchasing a bottle of champagne included upgraded lobster and shrimp, ribeye instead of flank steak, elevated sushi rolls (including lobster), a delicious lobster spring roll, and an impressive upgraded dessert. It was a fantastic value, and we even shared our champagne with others at our table. We also attended the “Rock Lobster Show,” which again included a lobster dinner upgrade with the purchase of a bottle of wine or tequila (which you can take with you if preferred). The lobster was perfectly cooked. I truly cannot say enough about the food quality at this resort. We visited in February, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The pool was heated, though still slightly cool. The cabanas were beautifully designed—featuring shallow walk-in areas, surrounding plants and boulders that created a private, secluded atmosphere. They were far from the crowded, cookie-cutter pool setups seen at many other resorts. The beach was outstanding—groomed early every morning, with attentive staff quickly assisting with chairs and umbrellas. It is easily one of the nicest beaches we have experienced in Cancun. We learned from staff that the property is 16 years old, yet it does not show its age at all. The maintenance team does a phenomenal job. Many Cancun resorts we’ve visited show heavy wear and aging infrastructure that doesn’t match the price point. This property does not fall into that category. It is exceptionally well-maintained, beautifully landscaped, and meticulously cared for. Wildlife management was also noticeably well handled. Unlike other resorts where coatis roam heavily throughout guest areas, here we saw very few animals. A handful of birds, but overall the environment was peaceful, clean, and relaxing. What began as a vacation crisis ended up turning into one of our most enjoyable resort stays in Cancun. Secrets Maroma Beach completely restored our expectations for the region and reaffirmed why we continue choosing the Secrets and Hyatt brands. We will be back!!!!

Have been to quite a few Secrets, and Secrets Maroma is definitely at the top. The service alone was a step above, I and absolutely LOVED the other Secret Resorts. You want the Service? Location? Cleanliness? Food? Beach? Then THIS is the choice!

Such a beautiful property and amenities, that almost goes without saying at a Five Diamond resort like Secrets Maroma. It was my birthday and they went above and beyond making it special! What really put our vacation and this location over the top was the staff. You can tell they care about you and they want you to have the best stay possible. I spoke to other people staying at the resort who have stayed there before and they mentioned how the staff remembered who they were from years before.
