2nd time that we have stayed here. We like that it is not too far from the airport. Lovely, well manicured grounds. It is a large sprawling resort and a fair distance to have to walk to the beach which is okay if you don't have mobility issues. We were in building 1 Silver Club. Very close to restaurants & lobby. Rooms very clean & excellant service from housekeeping & all the staff that we encountered. All very friendly & seem to enjoy their jobs. Weather was not the best, a lot of rain & the ocean was rough (red flags all week) while we were there so that was disappointing but you can't do anything about that. They did keep the beach clean of seaweed & lifeguards kept a good watch over everyone. Thank goodness they have a large umbrella in the room to use. Usually spent our days at the smaller, quieter pool.We enjoyed the Italian & French restaurant the best. Would definitely recommend it.

First of all, I feel somewhat like a spoiled child writing this review and not giving it a 5 star rating as most of the people on this site have done. My husband and I just returned Tuesday from our week stay there. If you are a pool lover and enjoy average food, then this is your place. The food, except the elegance of the French restaurant, and the service there, was by far nothing special. We ate at the Hibachi restaurant twice just to get the typical food that you would get at any Hibachi grill. I splurged on the lobster on our second visit, and was charged 42 bucks more for it. (I was told by server it would be 40.00us dollars but when we checked out we were told 42 US dollars because of exchange rate. ) Not a bargain by any means but was on vacation so I ordered it. The beach is where we like to spend our days Their beach is not for the beach lover. Seaweed all over the sand with no attempt to be cleaning it up. Also no bathrooms any where close to the beach, and the sand was like walking through snow. We went to the beach twice the week we were there hoping maybe we were just there at high tide.....Never did we see more than a 10 to 20 foot wide beach .I did not see any folks in the water. We have a pool at home so that's nothing special for us. WE did have a room by the lazy pool, and I have to say it was very nice there most of the time. A couple days we got some rowdy parties, making loud conversation ignoring the fact most of the folks there were couples who were trying to chill. The large pool was full of fun things to do if you enjoy doing group participation games. Very disappointing was the fact that the cabanas at the pool and beach are reservable only. Over 100 us dollars a day for those. Not worth it, by no means. We noticed many opened cabanas not being used but also not available to the rest of us who could have been a little more happy out of the way of the big pool and party atmosphere. The waiters in the restaurant were not very receptive to our needs. Many times having to ask for our drink again before ever receiving them. The Mar & Tierra beach restaurant was very disappointing for breakfast as well as dinner. We tipped in every place we ate, but it seemed to make no difference. The only waiter we had during our stay who seemed to be attentive was Jesus at the L'Alsace. The shrimp I had from the Mar& Tierra dinner menu could have been great had it not came out dark brown and crispy. I didn't take a pic of it , and it was our first night there so I figured it was just a incidental thing. Having to make a reservation for dinner is one thing. But when you have to make a reservation on the same day that you want to eat at the Hibachi that is just crazy. Why do you have to make that through a concerige ??A person should be quite capable of calling for a reservation. Instead you have to wait til they arrive at their station which is 9 0'clock in the morning. Usually a line has formed because everyone has to go through the concierge. One day my husband waited over 45 min. because of the party ahead of him had a group of 14 to be seated. So numerous phone calls I'm assuming had to be made to accommodate them. The grounds of this resort are beautiful. The housekeeping service also very reliable and they kept our room very clean. The flashing light over our bed was very unpleasant. We felt we were on the runway of the airport. Also reminded us of lighting. Can't believe no one else has mention this before. We really are not sure what it is for but assuming it has something to do with the wifi or fire system.

Wonderful place, had a great time. Very spacious resort which makes you feel like theres hardly anyone else there even when its full. The walkways are very wide, lots of walking areas. The food is very good, although the beef is tough. The staff is friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back again.

This is a very large resort, but it is never crowded. I stayed in building 6, third floor. I had requested swim out , but it was booked. It turned out to be a good thing. as we had much more privacy There are two pools, the smaller one was never at all crowd and so quiet. The large one was where all the games, music goes on and is quite loud. So decide if you want lots of social interaction, or lazy quiet. The room was lovely and so very large. restaurants were quite good and the service was wonderful everywhere, If you want to leave the resort a very inexpensive settle is available. I used the spa-lovely and priced about like home. All in all just a really nice time and I would go back any time

So much to say... * Adults only, large resort on big space, really very quiet, didn't see many people at night. Very safe * Choice of 6 restaurants, dress code, not excessive and keeps standards up. French the best, quite traditional. Italian, avoid the Italian pizza and pasta, entrees excellent. Japanese ok, Indonesian better. Great steak in the Tierra, beach restaurant. Service very attentive. All open only at dinner. * Breakfast, great selection and choice, La Marche far and away better than Tierra, Air con buffet area. Same at lunch. * Bars, plenty to choose from. Don Miguel and Sports Bar, service very inconsistent, in fact very poor... slow, 3 behind the bar talking one serving on the floor. Great choice of drinks but mixed cocktails all different in each bar, disappointing. * Pools, largest is loud and loud. I stuck by the Golden Suites, the lazy river pool loved it ... able to read and sleep!! Very nice. * Beach, same comments as others, plus v windy, lots of seaweed,... stay by the pools!! * Room, spacious, clean, well finished. Separate shower and jacuzzi bath. Mini fridge and cable TV. Coffee amenities not replaced on 3 days... * Check in / out very efficient, glass of bubbly on arrival and cold towel. Nicely done. * Overall a very nice stay. Poss needs more attn to details, eg bar service, room amenities, etc however you will never go hungry or thirsty. Plus all inclusive with Westjet inc flights and transfers. All smooth, nothing to worry about, just relax, eat, drink and lay in the sun. Very nice.
