Our family of four (two teenagers) just returned home from a week at Dreams Puerto Aventuras. Overall, we had a great time and we found the resort to be a a very good value. We found Dreams PA much less expensive than other resorts in the area - like the Hard Rock. That being said, we did not expect a 5 star resort. I would rate Dreams a 3.5 - 4 star resort. ROOMS: We had two adjoining rooms (what they call a family suite) on the third floor overlooking the adult pool. One room had a king bed with double vanity sinks, and a huge walk in shower. The adjoining room had two double beds, single sink, and tub/shower. Beds were super comfy! Both rooms were extremely clean and in great working problems at all. It was very quiet, A/C worked great, no musty smell at all as others have mentioned. Rooms were cleaned daily and they did a great job! POOLS: Pools were nice but could use a little tile work/cleaning around the bar. There were a lot of fun activities going on at the pool, so there were a lot of kids at the pool. We tended to stay on the beach for a more relaxing day. CHAIRS: As far as the lack of chairs, we did not have an issue at all on the beach. There were still some chairs available at 10am. If you want chairs by the pool, you need to reserve them before 7am as they do fill quickly. (I have found this "chair game" at many resorts). If you leave more than your towel - like a shirt or bag, they will be left alone. FOOD: The food was good at most restaurants. I know many people rave about Portifinos as their favorite. We did not love it. It was good, but not great. We enjoyed the Mexican and Oceana restaurants the most. Note: Kids are allowed to go to Oceana (which is usually an adult only rest). on Sat. nights. Room service was excellent . We ordered breakfast and also some late afternoon snacks which we ate out on our balcony for happy hour. Drinks at the beach, pool and restaurants were good and not watered down. Waitress service was timely on the beach and pool. The drinks at the Swing bar were definitely the strongest and there was never a wait for a drink! ENTERTAINMENT: Giovanni and the entertainment team were fantastic during the day at the pool and on the beach! They kept the activities running smoothly and kept people engaged. They did not bother you at all if you were not interested. Shows were entertaining, and the beach night buffet was great. Seafood lunch buffet on the beach was very good too. Love the pineapple filled drinks! STAFF: A lot of reviews raved about the hotel staff being awesome. We did not feel they were awesome even though we tipped regularly. We found most bar servers, waiters and hotel staff nice and and attentive, but nothing out of the ordinary. We did not get any better or worse service when we tipped or when we did not tip. With the exception of the entertainment staff, we found the hotel staff good, but nothing to brag about. BEACH: The one problem we did have with the resort was the amount of seaweed on the beach everyday. Some days it was full from the water's edge to about 50 feet out into the water! I realize the hotel can not control the tide, however they need to invest in a machine that sucks it up quickly. The staff worked all day to try and remove it, but they could not keep up. A machine at 7am would probably finish the job in probably 2 hours! We did walk through the seaweed and managed to swim and snorkel a bit. Snorkeling was great. Note: Bring some toast/bread into the water and you will be swarmed with beautiful fish. The rides on the sailboats were fun, but due to the seaweed, they would not allow the kayaks to go out. We did find a beautiful beach two hotels down from Dreams. The beaches are public, so if you walk to the left on Dreams, you can enter the water and snorkel over to the beach at the end in front of the Catalonia hotel. The water is crystal clear with no seaweed, thanks to their break walls. You can use the beach, but not their chairs. Snorkeling was also great in this clear water. Just beautiful! Overall, Dreams PA is a great value and I would return. It is a family resort with a lot of activities to keep you busy, good food and decent service. If they could get a better handle on the seaweed, it would be a fantastic resort!

My husband and I have been visiting an adult all-inclusive for the past 6 years. This year we decided to take our two boys (ages 13 and 9) and experience Mexico as a family. I really researched resorts and this one hit many of the elements we were looking for. As the previous reviews reported, this is a resort in need of some structural upgrades, however the service seems to make up for the issues. We had to change rooms because of a leak in our bathroom after our first night and we should have been annoyed, but we weren't because it was handled quickly and with great service. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: The service is great. Francisco was our waiter at the World Cafe and he was exceptional. Additionally, Jossilin at the Seaside Cafe, Pablo at the pool bar and Isabella at the Coco Cafe really made our visit special. The staff didn't just tolerate children, they seemed to work hard to make the visit special for them. This is a smaller resort which was good for our first visit as a family. The boys were able to explore a little bit and we could relax faster. The foam party on Thursdays at 1:00 is fun, but those bubbles really add up! We got buried in it! Food was fine. Steak is not great, but my son ate his weight in guacamole. Room service was excellent and the drinks were pretty good. There is a natural pool that the boys really enjoyed exploring. Be sure to take water shoes since its pretty rocky. This resort is in a gated community, so we took many walks town to the marina where there were shops and gelato, We loved it! The dolphin experience right on the property was amazing. Be prepared to spend a good deal of money and then the pictures are a fortune. My boys are still talking about it and the trainers are great. We loved it. Cons Yes, the bar at the pool is missing tiles and your can see where the resort would benefit from some major structural updates. However, they are constantly cleaning, so that wasn't an issue. The shows were a bit cheesy and although the entertainment crew was enthusiastic, we could have done without the 15 minute dance introduction before each event. There was a ton of seaweed on the beach, but they were working hard to clean it. We would return to this resort. I would not recommend for couples only though.

So much to do you don't have to leave the resort. Very clean, friendly staff great food nice beach and fantastic entertainment. Sushi bar amazing. Different shows every night. Great small family resort. only one complaint the sea weed that was appearing on the shore every morning, but they always had a crew of workers to remove daily.
