Check in through check out...outstanding service, regardless of where you were. Everyone of the staff we crossed paths with were welcoming and friendly and extremely helpful. The resort is stunningly beautiful. The food...not so crazy about the "beach front restaurant" but the rest was delightful. We has a "suite" with a lovely view of the beach as well as overlooking the resort itself. Loved the little things...nicer bathroom amenities, turn down service that is turn down service. Snacks in the baskets and a full size fridge stocked with bevvies including milk. A little old and tired and extremely small bathrooms. Housekeeping...not so great. Fabulous included wines. Pools very clean & pretty with lots of chairs and wait staff. So glad we had this experience.

We went to the Velas with another family and had the most amazing time. The rooms are nice, clean and well-appointed, not super fancy, but perfect for families who need extra space. The food at the restaurants was very good and the nightly entertainment was fun for all. We loved being able to order room service any time of day, including late night snacks and drinks! We all loved the pool and the pool bar. The kids had a blast swimming around and playing with the balls, toys and iguanas (!) at the pool. The parents enjoyed the poolside bar and new friends. The location is also ideal. A quick cab ride gets you downtown. Plus, despite a daily forecast of thunder showers in Puerto Vallarta, we had only about 5 minutes of rain during our 5-night stay. While everything about the property itself is lovely, the amazing staff are what make the experience so wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and goes out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. I don't often return to a destination once I've been there, but I would go to the Velas again in a heartbeat.

A great hotel for the whole family! We traveled with my daughter who was 2 the the time and out son was 8 months old. The staff was very accommodating with our little ones. The gave us extra milk in the mini fridge and provided a pack and play at no charge. The grounds are stunning with birds, fish, and iguanas all over. The food was amazing and every night new great options. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was the nightly shows. We had stayed in some resorts that put on better shows. Over all we all had a great time and our daughters is still talking about swimming with the dinosaur(iguanas).

The resort is extremely convenient to the PVR airport, just a few minutes away, which was great unless you don't like hearing all the planes taking off. Didn't rally bother my family. The bay of PV is beautiful with lush green mountains surrounding the entire area, very scenic. They have two restaurants, however they change the menu everyday, giving you options. They are super flexible on their AI plan to order items from the menu, do the buffet or both - so lots of options available. Buffer is not as extensive as some, but the quality of the food was good. My biggest concern was the lack of an actual bar/lounge. While the have cocktail tables in the lobby and serve at both restaurants, there is no actual bar you can do sit at and enjoy a cocktail. My concern about the lobby bar, how do you know what they're pouring you since they go into a service area to get your drink. Would be nice to look at the selections available and decide what to have. The swim up bar was good, but the back side on the pool deck was just for servers. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The hotel must have an energy conservation plan, as lights in corridors and hallways at night were very low and often no lights on at all. If there is a plan and that's why, would be good to share that information with guests. The room was extremely spacious and well appointed. We had a one bedroom suite with a large balcony overlooking the pools and ocean. A couple negatives....local vendors ALL over the beach area. We sat in chairs at the pool facing the ocean and every few minutes another vendor came by asking us to buy something. Sunglasses, hats, blankets, Oysters, etc. Yes, I said oysters....I can't imagine how that would have tasted in the 100 degree heat. The vendors even approach you from the beach when you're at the restaurant. Another issue was the building has units that are owned by individuals. So there is a mix of regional residents and families on vacation. Sales people are constantly walking families around the pool area selling the resort to them. I prefer a more relaxing environment where people are just there on vacation to unplug and enjoy. Overall the stay was enjoyable and management staff was very accommodating when needed.

My wife and I first stayed here 16 years ago for our honeymoon. Now we brought the kids add to our memories of Mexico. It doesn't look like much has changed. Everything was very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the resort looks great. A great selection of pools and seats both in the resort and beachfront. There seem to be an awful lot more iguanas than I remember, and they seem very tame. The peacocks running around were also very people friendly. The resorts layout and appearance are very similar to Disney's Aulani in Hawaii. My kids loved it and were reluctant to leave to go into town or do adventures. The food was excellent over all. I was happy to say our tab ran about 1/6th of our weekly charges in Hawaii back in June. We look forward to returning someday, hopefully soon.
