We made reservations for 8 people at the French Restaurant at Dreams Palm Beach. Unfortunately the staff couldn’t let us in because we had a 15 year old with us. Our group were pretty upset for losing the experience and the reservations. CARLOS Jimenez, the restaurant manager, went out of his way to make us happy. He gave us a dedicated/special room in the Italian Restaurant with access to the menu of the French restaurant. Oscar was our assigned waiter but CARLOS also came to wait till on us. They were excellent and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and satisfied. Bottom line CARLOS JIMENEZ turned the experience from a pretty bad one to an awesome dinner and a very happy experience!!!

This is a really fabulous, affordable vacation option. The hotel is a bit dated but very well maintained. The beach is gorgeous and the grounds are lovely. The biggest standout of this resort by far was the food...plentiful fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, lots of healthy options and variety. Service in the restaurants was fantastic and there was a lot of variety. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table even though we were a large group. We were at Dreams Los Cabos last year and in terms of food and service our experience here was much, much better. We reserved the wine cellar for my Father in Law's birthday celebration and it was a fabulous evening. The staff were amazing (especially Francesco!), they decorated with balloons and arranged for a very special cake ...above and beyond! Thank you Dreams for a wonderful vacation!

Our family of four visited the first week of January and we were not disappointed! Our teenage daughters (15 and 17) loved the sunbathing and we all participated in numerous activities. The entertainment staff, particularly Cupid and Edwin, made everyone feel special and part of the experience. The food at all the restaurants was fabulous. The Japanese hibachi is a must. Evening entertainment was spectacular, especially the acapella group and the circus. One side note about Dominican Republic in general - you should drink bottled water for everything including teeth brushing. Dreams made a point of even using bottled water for their ice which is good because we made the mistake of ordering a fountain drink (with ice) in the airport on our way home and our oldest daughter ended up in hospital days later with a severe gastrointestinal infection! 🤢

This was our second time at this resort. We stayed here last 3 years ago. We had a great time again but the rooms are getting more run down and the service at some of the restaurants was not quite as good as previously. The grounds are beautiful and the large pool down the centre of the resort is a highlight. Lounge chairs by the pool were hard to come by unless you came very early. This may have been partly because it was quite windy while we were there and not as many people were at the beach. There are a number of restaurants. No reservations are required which is nice. We have young children so we always ate early and never had to wait so I don't know if that was a problem for those eating later. The food was good and the majority of the wait staff were great. Portofino is the Italian restaurant and was one of our favourites. Jairo was our waiter both nights we went there and he was very good with the kids. We had a Preferred Club Deluxe Family Room. This is 2 adjoining rooms one with a King bed and one with 2 doubles. It is nice that there is a full separate room for the kids. That said the room was run down. The bathroom was dim and the ceiling was buckled in places. The Air conditioning wasn't the best and there was a bit of a musty smell. Each room has a balcony with a nice view out over the pool. The gym is located above the spa and is well equipped. It was not busy at all during the afternoon. My wife had a massage at the spa and was happy with the facilities there. There is a coffee shop - CoCo Cafe - my wife went out early each morning to get coffee there which was very good. Its a good idea to bring a travel mug to bring the coffee back to the room although they do have small paper cups. Our 2 kids aged 5 and 7 went to the Explorer's Club several times during our stay and enjoyed it. The facilities are good complete with a pirate ship with a water-slide into a small pool. The staff were great with the kids. Overall we had a great trip and this remains a very nice resort but is not quite the 5 Star Resort it once was.

I have stayed at a lot of Secrets Resorts (owned by Dreams parent company AM resorts) and loved it. As this was a family vacation we decided on a hotel in their Dreams collection. I feel bad that I made this decision because it is not what I expected at all. Cons: - The hotel rooms are very run down. There was nothing luxury about them. The bathroom was old and no matter how much they cleaned it it never would have felt clean and luxurious. - The door to my room had some kind of black grease on the door handle - I called to let the front desk know on multiple occasions and they never did anything. I ended up cleaning it myself. - We had a 3pm check-in for 3 rooms. One of the rooms wasn't ready until 5pm. - One of the rooms had a patio door that was broken - luckily they came to fix it but we had to wait for them to get there which is frustrating when you have been traveling all day and all you want to do is relax. - Refrigerator in room was very old and dirty. - In-room safe was half broken. - Gave my concerns to the front desk about the state of the 3 rooms we had booked. Looked at switching the rooms and the other rooms they showed us were just more of the same. The rooms in general need to be updated. - There are vendors on-site at the hotel a few nights a week - they are VERY aggressive. It's something you expect on the beach but not in the resort. - If you have stayed in any AM Resort you know they have a hard sell for their "time share/coupon program". Usually they will ask to meet up with you after you settle into your room. At Dreams Punta Cana they harass you right after checkin and before you can even get to your room. After a day of travel it's very annoying. Pros: - Great location on a fairly clean beach. - The staff was so nice and went above and beyond. It's not their fault that the hotel is not up to typical AM Resort standards.
