We stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was a spacious beautiful room. Very clean. The staff was welcoming and amazing. Food was phenomenal with a variety of restaurants. Beach was beautiful and clean. By the end of our trip we were planning to come back. I’ve read some of the other reviews were people seemed unhappy and I can’t agree. Will definitely come back.

Arrival - greeted politely but cornered into upgrading our room to the’best’ junior suite in the hotel because of the hot tub which we had paid an extra £300GPB for. As we walked to the room we had noticed that they had put the honeymoon banner on our door so they clearly knew they were going to push people into paying more. The hot tub was no bigger than our bath and didn’t even work properly. Rooms - extremely dated, and as the hotel has no lifts, marching to the third floor twice a day every day in 33 degree heat was not ideal. The shower than was like an average house shower snapped on day 2 and the housekeepers didn’t refill room cosmetics once. Food - ghastly. The buffet was the best out of a bad situation. All the restaurants were serving microwaved meals, the grill - we ordered a 10oz steak which was more like 2oz and 3 fries only. No veg or salad on the side. Staff were miserable and looked like they didn’t want to be there. The cafe under the stairs that claims to do all different coffees, not sure instant coffee and a splash of milk in every cup constitutes as different lattes and cappuccinos. The cakes were like the ones that would survive until 2045 on mars. Hideous. Excursions - since we waited to book through the hotel rep you would have thought he would have known his stuff?! We booked 4 excursions and 3 of which he’d told us the wrong time for for collection. One of which he’d not only given us the wrong time but also said we could do 3 activities on this one day trip at $149pp, the tour guides said one activity hasn’t been available for over a year. We then had to battle for our refunds. One trip had a collection of 7am, they told us to have breakfast before we went, but on that morning we were told they couldn’t give us any food despite booking it through the hotel rep and being an 8 hour day trip!! World class spa??? - Not entirely sure paying $120 for a 50 min facial and then being left alone in the room with a wet flannel on my face whilst the woman went off for 25 mins was world class?? Entertainment - about as fun as a funeral. Nothing going on at night time and since you can’t really leave the resort we were bored every night. Our room was right on top of the woman singing karaoke every night which kept us awake as it was on 9.30-12. Not sure what the entertainment was there as it was just noise and no audience. The day time pool staff were great. I think we would have caught an early flight if they hadn’t of perked us up. They really lifted spirits. Overall - it was ‘OK’ - we definitely wouldn’t return but haven’t had the holiday from Hell.

My husband and I went with another couple, all of us in our mid 30's for a break from the kiddos and work. Grounds: Beautiful and very well kept. There were constantly people walking around and picking up any garbage or old towels left behind. The flamingos were a great added touch. Rooms: They are outdated, but very clean. Housekeeping did a wonderful job and was very respectful if you chose to skip the night turn down service as we did. The room showed wear, but we were prepared for this by looking at the other reviews. We didn't spend much time in the room, so this was not an issue for us. The tub has a huge side to it, and being 4'11, it was a bit of a high step for me to get in and out of it. Air and tv worked great. In the morning of the day we left, the ceiling in the hallway started leaking. I notified the front desk before checking out and they made a call to someone right away. In room safe worked good and the mini fridge was stocked daily, although it was never super cold. Restaurants: Everyone has different tastes so to each their own. Some we liked, some we didn't. The Japanese restaurant was by far the best with the most fun atmosphere. The buffet staff is friendly and upbeat and the food is mass produced resort food. Go to some of the speciality stations for fresh pasta, Mexican, crepes, etc. and that is better. Lots of yummy desserts to choose from all day! The coco cafe was good for a quick snack and the burgers on the beach weren't horrible. Room service was good and very accommodating. Bars: We chose to not do preferred, and we were happy with our choice the entire trip with that decision. The lobby bar had top shelf liquor also and was a short walk if we felt the need. Bars are short staffed, but it's also vacation and we need to take a breath and relax while we wait. We tipped every drink, and while it was appreciated, it didn't up our service. Pool: The pool was beautiful and we had no issue finding seats without reserving them. Beach: Again we had no issues finding chairs without reserving them. They had men working all day to keep the seaweed at bay. Luckily we had good weather all week so we had good ocean water go swim in. Entertainment: The staff makes a great effort and it shows, but the night shows are geared towards families. Most of the time we left halfway through. The nightly music outside was either really good, or really bad. Vendors:Tell them no and walk on or get them to sell you a pair of sunglasses for 5 bucks when you don't feel like walking back to your room from the beach like we did :) Obviously don't pay full price, or even half price of what they are asking. Check in and check out was smooth. We declined the room upgrade and golden tickets and there was no worries. Amstar reps: We booked through apple vacations and there were Amstar reps available to us all day, each day. We booked 2 excursions through them and one through Hispaniola for our catamaran. All in all, did we have a great week? Yes. Next time we will try a resort geared a bit more towards couples vs. families. We felt super safe on the resort and even walked down the beach past other resorts for multiple trips to a shop called tropical treasures.

We just returned from a 7 day stay at Dreams Punta Cana and it was an incredible experience. The staff was especially memorable and were outstanding with the children. We were able to get to know and engage with several of the staff members. Emmanuel and Kenia were our favorites in the World Cafe. After our week we felt like we had known them for a long time. They were so engaging and helpful. He remembered our group of 11 drinks after the first day there. Ask for them to serve you when you go there for breakfast or lunch. Our favorites on the Entertainment team were Jay-Z and Anyela. We did several activities with them and they made our kids feel like superstars when we saw them around the resort they were fantastic. Lastly make sure you see "Coffee Boy" while your there in the evenings by the theater. He taught our kids a dance that they will not soon forget. These particular staff members made our trip one that we and our children will not forget.
