Although this resort has several aspects that are good, overall it is way down our list of places we have been. In fact, it is usually difficult for us to leave our vacation but here I found myself counting the days. Many of the reviews say the food is good. We did not find it passable. Very heavy on the sauces so that whatever you were eating started to taste all the same. Virtually no fresh vegetables. One night I ordered salmon with no sauce and it was truly disgusting - dried out and colorless. There is volume available, for sure, but by the end of the stay I was choosing mostly fresh fruit as my stomach just couldn’t take the heaviness of the offerings. The other thing we found most disappointing was the beach area. Most of the shoreline in front of the resort is designated no swimming, so you either swim with everyone else or you walk down the beach. No bodysurfing waves here but some passable ones about a 10 min. walk. It is windy (not breezy) on the beach. So if you opt for shade you can feel a bit chilled. On the plus side- the room was great (although a hike from the beach), the pool was nice, and the staff were just delightful. The gym was great and the spa was wonderful. But even with those pluses, the cons of the food and the beach make this a place that we would not return to.

The hotel and all the staff were wonderful! The hotel itself is very nice and they go above and beyond in making your stay wonderful. The food was very good and a nice selection of different types of food. The size of the resort is nice too not too big and not to small. Their was always enough chairs for the pool and lots of shade. My niece got married there and she had a beach wedding. It started to rain and they were so good that they moved every thing inside and make it very special for her wedding. I can't say enough on how much everyone was soooo nice and accommodating.

Visited Mar 28-Apr 4, 2018. Great resort. Employees are wonderful and make you feel very welcome! I can still hear the waiters from breakfast yelling "Happy Happy!" The people who did the shows and dancing were fabulous. Meiry & Ana were helpful in arranging dinners and a shout out to Meiry for making my surprise Birthday cake and song at breakfast happen! Great family resort whether you want to hang out at the pool or beach. You do have to claim chairs before 6 am but this was easy for me to do on the way to their great workout center. The flamingos that live there and wander around during the day were so cool! Nothing bad to say about the resort, variety of food options and very relaxing. We did get pictures with the parrots and then monkey they brought in, and the prices were not unreasonable for the photos. Great memories. The outside vendors that were there a couple days were a bit strong-armed though, we did buy a couple of jewelry things but we weren't sure of the prices they were asking were fair. Figured we did support the economy. we visited the spa for massages too, they were great. We had a great time!!!

This is the resort to get what you expect. Customer service is superior. The buildings, rooms and grounds are impeccably clean. Food and beverages are what you expect. Specificly, if you do not look down upon employees, you will get a smile and make a friend. Rooms are not new, but the housekeeping is dedicated to their work and you will receive follow-up phone calls to insure your satisfation. Within the collective group of AMSTAR resorts, we were not hassled regarding attending their VIP program. If you just want to relax, this is the resort.

Some things good, some not great, only thing I would say was excellent were a few of the staff. Mainly Joel one of the servers was absolutely great! Very friendly and attentive. Went out of his way for us many times. Gregory and pretty much all of the servers we had at the buffet restaurant were great too. One of the bartenders at the pool bar (which we knew as "manana" or tomorrow in English) was terrific too. Seemed like he was the only one hustling back there. Many of the other bartenders at the pool bar didn’t seem to care much or were not very friendly. Weird part is, we all tipped almost every round at every bar we were at, which it says is not necessary or expected. It didn’t seem to matter to some of these bartenders, even though we rarely (if ever) saw anyone else tipping. I thought the food was average at best and we mainly ate at the buffets. We ate at a restaurant once and the "barefoot Grill" or the pizza place for lunch most of the time. The lunches were just average. The buffet had a lot to offer, but many times the food was cold (even though they were in warmers). Everyone thought the buffet room was hot and they never open any doors or had any ceiling fans either, which is weird. Being hassled every day by people selling excursions or items for sale was a bit annoying as well. Some of them were aggressive and you had to not make eye contact or just completely ignore them. The grounds were kept up very well, but the buildings were dated and the one my room was in was in need of repairs. The slider in my room didn’t work well or even have a lock, the ceiling fan would not turn on, the closet doors were hard to slide, there was no shower curtain or glass of any kind around the tub/shower (so the floor and sink area got soaked every time), a towel rack was hanging off in the bathroom, etc. But by far the worst part of this resort was the casino, which I was warned about before heading on this trip from other reviews. Several of the dealers were absolutely terrible. You had to pay close attention or they would make "mistakes" quite often. One of the people we went with was doing well and up a little money and they ABSOLUTELY started doing whatever they could to either cheat her outright or make her lose. I know a lot about gambling and I know for sure what they were doing was intentional. Overall, I had a good time with my family and it was not the worst trip I have ever been on, but I cannot recommend it personally.
