My partner and I just returned from a week stay at this dreams resort. I use trip advisor on all my vacation prior to going in hopes to get a good overall type experience. Of all my times using trip advisor I’d say this was the first time I was disappointed. Maybe we just were the unlucky ones but overall thought this resort just doesn’t deserve its rating. Pros: pool was great, large and well kept. We had a walk out room and loved not fighting to find pool chairs. As we heard others complaining of that. Property goods are very nice and well kept. Food; there was many options and loved the no reservations needed for the al carts. We enjoyed the Asian restaurant the best. Buffet was ok, on two occasions at the omelet station got egg shells in are omelettes. Could of just been bad lucky but was surprised when we heard others had the same experience. Cons: rooms dated, we had a ground floor room that when the people above us showered are bathroom ceiling leaked. When we informed the hotel staff they sent someone that only re arranged the tiles. On two occasions we returned back to our room only to find are front door left open by what we assume was cleaning staff. We returned back early from breakfast one am to see the cleaning carted located in front of our door, once entering are room to our surprise are patio door was left wide open and no cleaning staff to be found. Approx 5 to 10 mins later she returned. The lobby was filled with pushy sales people trying to sell a time share. The unfortunate part of that is they will not be upfront that’s what it is and we seen many couple get sucked into this scam. Over the course of our week stay 2 of those days were spent avoiding very pushy venders that the resort allows in to sell things. Very annoying. Staff, were ok but not overly friendly at times I’d say almost rude. Waiting to be seated at a restaurant and staff just continue there conversation and not even acknowledge your presence. At dinner had to ask to order drinks at times. I don’t consider myself overly picky but I do expect some level of standards to be met when paying what u do for this place Overall I would not recommend this resort.

My husband, 16 year old daughter and I stayed 2/15-2/19 in the preferred club section. Rooms are well appointed-Room 1217 has partial ocean view. Mini refrigerator was well stocked with water, soda. juice, and beer. Shower has excellent water pressure. Hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel, lotion are included amenities. Two additional bars served premium liquors. Separate adult pool and preferred member section. I was nervous as I've read others' complains about the food. Seriously, the food was great. We ate at the French, Italian, and Japanese restaurants (men-long pants are required). An adult is considered 16 years and older (daughter so happy she was considered an adult). The buffet had a large selection and my husband's only complaint was difficulty getting tea. Coffee was plentiful and excellent. Separate coffee shop (Coco Loco) offered espresso, latte, and snacks. Seaside Grill had good selection for lunch. Service is slower than in the U.S., but we're East coast crazy and understand that! The weather was warm but quite windy on the beach. Plenty of chairs at the beach or poolside. Fair amount of seaweed lining the shore but walk left of the property and most of the beachfront is still pristine and undeveloped. Vendors on the beach were NOT too pushy (worse in Mexico). I found all the staff to be pleasant and engaging. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The property is not large (compared to Melia or Hard Rock) and easily navigated.

My wife and stayed here for 3 nights and are frequent resort travelers, so here are our pros and cons for Dreams Punta Cana. Pros: Very friendly staff with above average AI resort service. Love the coffee shop in the main lobby area. Food and drinks in general were also above the average AI resort. No problems getting chairs any time of day. Cons: Only a couple of things. First, we booked a standard room advertised as 2 queen beds, but our beds were doubles for sure. Second, there is only one restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. It's large enough to handle the load, but is located in the main building on the other side of the resort away from the beach. Not very convenient when you're relaxing on the beach. A small grill on the the beach would have been nice. Note: Cabs are a flat $70 US each way from airport. Cash only!

Dreams Punta Cana is rated by Apple Vacations as a 5 Golden Apple resort.. The grounds are exceptional with beautiful flowing gardens, numerous palm trees and a long winding pool that is the central focus for the 10 three story walk up buildings that comprise the guest rooms. .Every room has a balcony or patio with garden or pool view, two comfortable beds , complimentary( daily refilled) mini refrigerator, safe and medium size bathroom. The specialty restaurants are all very good but there is usually a fairly long wait for a table. The grill serving steaks, chops etc. is in my opinion the best of the group. The buffet leaves a lot to be desired , but is adequate for breakfast. Often the food in the buffet is cool or cold and even though there are plenty of workers the service is lacking .The resort has a policy against the use of towels to reserve lounge chairs but it is not enforced .If you want a poolside lounge chair you have to be there early in the morning. The resort also sells memberships in an elite group that entitles you to enter a special center part of the beach with better service, ,better lounge chairs, and access to a clubhouse where snacks and drinks are provided. Entertainment is offered in a large auditorium like room with the same entertainers doing essentially the same thing in different costumes each night .The casino offers slots, roulette and blackjack but is not lively and usually mostly empty. There are four small shops in the lower lobby offering tourist items and there is a free coffee shop with snacks in the same area that is open 24 hours. The fitness center is very good and the housekeeping service is far above average. The resort is kept very clean and in good repair. My son and I enjoyed the resort and probably would return but in our opinion this property is not worthy of a 5 Golden Apple rating.. Perhaps a 4 red apple rating would be more appropriate,

We made reservations for 8 people at the French Restaurant at Dreams Palm Beach. Unfortunately the staff couldn’t let us in because we had a 15 year old with us. Our group were pretty upset for losing the experience and the reservations. CARLOS Jimenez, the restaurant manager, went out of his way to make us happy. He gave us a dedicated/special room in the Italian Restaurant with access to the menu of the French restaurant. Oscar was our assigned waiter but CARLOS also came to wait till on us. They were excellent and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and satisfied. Bottom line CARLOS JIMENEZ turned the experience from a pretty bad one to an awesome dinner and a very happy experience!!!
