The good and the bad... Let's start with the good. Rooms are very clean, ours was in building 10 ocean front. Beautiful view of pool and ocean, sun on our patio all day. Pikachu / Miguel, the entertainer that strolls around the resort is very fun. The drink server we had at night in the lobby (I'm unsure of her exact name) Anagracia? was smiling, laughing, and ready to serve us all the drinks we wanted. She was the best drink server we had all week. (more on other servers in the bad). The oatmeal at breakfast is wonderful! Chez Isabelle, dinner there was excellent! I think we have tried everything on that menu, and loved almost all of it. Agave, (Mexican) was also a favorite! Mazatlan and Nayarit, are delicious! The guacamole and pico are great! Every server in every restaurant worked very hard to make sure your order was correct. We have food allergies, every time a food was placed in front of someone they announced what food it was and if it was for the person with allergies or not. Yes, there is a language barrier sometimes, but they try very hard. And honestly, that means a lot. The tall fellow that greeted us upon arrival and took our bags to our room was very good at pointing everything out on the way to our rooms. I asked for a case of water to be left in our room, it arrived the same day, and the cleaners still left us water in the fridge along with the usual sodas. We asked for the room temp to be lowered, because of the full sun on our patio each day the room was warm, they came and lowered it for us. We asked for a fan and a dehumidifier, received both. The resort over all is dated, but very clean and the grounds crew does a fantastic job! In January there was some seaweed, they clean it multiple times a day. The bar tenders make excellent drinks, if you don't like it, ask for a different kind. Now for the bad... Pool drink servers are not overly friendly, nor do they want to come to us more than a hand full of times. I wish they would acknowledge what we said. We would ask for a few different items at one time, so they would not have to make multiple trips. They usually did not repeat our order to us, then were irritated when they came back with the wrong or forgotten item. We gave them tips numerous times hoping that would help them come serve us after the 6th trip our way. Very rarely did we get service after noon. It didn't help, they would go to chairs right next to ours and ignore us. Yes, we used our manners and were polite. It didn't feel like "all inclusive" was something they understood. The staff in the coffee shop were equally rude. We has cold showers on 3 days of our weeks stay, we had a message on our rooms phone that said they were unable to check the shower because we were not in the room. WHAT?! Who would sit in the room and wait?! A couple we traveled with also had a few cold showers and had a broken fridge and TV the entire time. They asked multiple times to get them fixed, it never was. Food taste and quality are subjective, but to us, most besides the above mentioned was not good. Food allergy, if you are gluten free you have to ask for pizza a day in advance in order to have some. We didn't see GF noodles anywhere. the GF section is small, but be sure to tell your server, they do try to figure out what you can have on the menu because sometimes it isn't clearly marked. All in all, we won't be back to this resort. There are many others out there to try, no outstanding reason for us to give this place a second chance.

Miguel and Gustavo from the sports bar were great. Service was fantastic. Beach was great. Pool a little cold but we persevered. Too many patriots fans here though

We just returned from our 4th stay. We do love the place but it is slipping. The service/staff are fabulous, friendly, attentive! The facilities and public spaces are beautiful and clean! A wonderful spa and a very well equipped gym and beautiful grounds. However the rooms, the pool and public bathrooms are looking a bit tired, also quite a few torn pool/beach lounge chairs. Painting and pool tile repairs are terrible. The buffet variety is excellent, lots of choices and great flavors, fresh fruits and vegetables, most of the food is great, however the meats and fish are overcooked, dry and tough and many "hot" items are not hot. The restaurant food overall is very good with excellent service but they have cut the menu items down to too few choices. They used to have THE BEST STEAKS EVER, now, not. We were very disappointed with that. We had been looking forward to mouth watering filet mignon and that isn't on any menu and we had to send back steaks more than once. Mini bar service is sporadic, ran out of coffee and creamer twice. Overall the housekeeping is really good but looked like the floor was never swept or mopped on a 12 day stay. We will return for sure because overall the place is wonderful! But I REALLY HOPE they make the necessary improvements.

This is our 6th visit here and have found changes to all the restaurant menu's, particularly Magna breakfast menu which has resulted in us and many other Club customers. having to find alternative restaurants. On arrival on 26th Jan I enquired at the Club reception about our loyalty rewards , Diamond status to be told nothing was on the system, despite being upgraded last year as a result. I asked that this be looked into asap. Having heard nothing I returned to the reception 4 days later to be told, nothing had been resolved. I returned the next day to be told the same and to check with Guest Relations the next day. Today, I have done this , gave my details and told to come back to see the Guest Relations manager at 2.30 as he was on his lunch break. At 2.30 I returned to find him not there and asked to return again. I informed the desk I would not be returning again and ask that he find me out and have my location in the Club area. As of yet, 4 hours later I am still waiting! It appears that loyal returning customers are not valued as they should be. Kathy - Room 2006

This resort was FABULOUS! You are totally taken care of. When you arrive you receive a glass of champagne, a cool towel to wipe your face and hands, and a big “Welcome Home!". I am very big on service and the service I received at the Excellence Punta Cana was unmatched. Plus it's only for adults… so no screaming kids! The food was very good and they offer premium drinks. I would stay there again anytime.
