Excellence Punta Cana

Staff was very nice, maybe need better English to answer questions. Sea was not accessible, maybe due to location, that was a huge minus. Food was generally very good. Asian restaurant the worse. Grounds were beautiful and lush.

What a calm, beautiful resort! It had that fun Caribbean flair that you would hope for, was relaxing and also had plenty of fun activities and restaurants to enjoy.

Neither my husband nor I had been to an all-inclusive resort prior to our honeymoon. We selected Excellence Punta Cana after some online research, and we are so happy with our decision. All of the staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful. Throughout our entire vacation we only had positive experiences with staff in every department. Our room was nice and clean, there were plenty of activities, and the food was delicious! The only potential downside was the seaweed/rough water which made it difficult to be in the ocean, but we were still able to swim in the ocean multiple days. I actually really enjoyed the sound and view of the waves from the beach as it was something different compared to a beach with calmer waters.

Review: My husband and I stayed at Excellence Punta Cana from August 24–28, 2026, and the level of service recovery and management communication we experienced was appalling. Upon arrival, Kristina completed our check-in and attempted to put us in a Junior Suite with Private Pool. When I politely corrected her and pointed out that we had paid for a Terrace Suite with Plunge Pool Ocean Front, she simply brushed it off with a "sorry, it's not available." She tried to frame the downgrade as an "upgrade" and offered a complimentary hydrotherapy session—a perk already included for Excellence members—plus a massage to placate us. After learning from other guests that we needed to escalate the issue, we contacted our travel agent and emailed resort management on Wednesday. The resort avoided us and failed to respond directly. On Thursday morning, our travel agent forwarded us an email from the resort claiming we were supposed to have changed rooms the previous evening. When I approached the front desk before heading out on an excursion, Emily seemed entirely clueless. Ramon stepped in, dismissively stating we should have switched rooms the night before—ignoring the fact that no one notified us until the morning. We stood our ground and demanded answers. Staff made calls and told us to wait for "Ana," who was suddenly unavailable or unwilling to speak with us. They took my contact details, promising a callback that never happened. Before leaving the desk, staff attempted to pressure me into completing an exit survey, which I explicitly declined to do until the issue was addressed. The retaliation following this interaction was unacceptable: our room and pool were completely ignored by housekeeping for the final two days of our stay. I had to resort to leaving dirty towels outside our door just to get basic service. Now that we are back home and scrolling through the Excellence Punta Cana Facebook groups, we are realizing this is an ongoing pattern—there were multiple other guests subjected to the exact same room downgrade tactic while we were there. This level of operational failure and direct avoidance from management ruined what should have been a relaxing trip. I am requesting upper management reach out to me directly to resolve this inconvenience with a partial refund.
