Excellence Punta Cana

There are always big waves and a red flag, so you cannot swim in the ocean. There is no toilet brush in the room. The activities are boring and lame, and the atmosphere was dead. Also, the shows were kind of boring. Our room was not cleaned for two days in a row until we called reception. The staff was okay and well prepared. The food and drink quality was excellent, but the variety of the food was not that good. The thematic restaurants serve good food, but it is not even close to the real food that they represent. The room was big and had a king-size bed, but the pillows are all bad; you cannot sleep on them. The jacuzzi in our room was unusable because it was leaking and produced a big puddle that wetted our luggage. The girl from cleaning filled it up for us when we were out at the restaurant when she entered the room to prepare the bed for sleep, so we did not even use the jacuzzi because of this experience, and no one came to repair it.

I came here once before in 2021, and since then, I've always wanted to come back. My experience in 2021 was PHENOMENAL, whether it was how excellente the staff were or how beautiful the resort was. I've always compared it to every single resort I've been to (and I go to about 2-4 resorts a year) and nothing could top my experience at this resort. So coming back 4 years later and also staying at the Excellence Club, both me and my friend were QUITE disappointed in how much things have changed. Note: she's also been here ~3 years ago and also had a wonderful experience back then. I want to start by saying we had two amazing servers: Ronny (from the restaurant) and Hendrix (by the pool) and they truly made our experience unforgettable. Ronny was just so fun and so amazing, he went out of his way to get me my favorite pina colada when Magna didn't have it. And Hendrix was such a sweetheart and such good vibes, always checking up on us and grabbing us towels when there were none available. This is the type of service we were expecting, since this was the type of service we got when we first visited a couple years back -- just workers loving their jobs and creating an amazing and memorable experience for us. But everything else fell quite short. The service from all other angles was very mediocre but maybe it was actually decent but I am comparing it to my experience from 2021. I feel like there are workers, but no one was working. And the workers who are working, are working extra hard to make up for those who aren't working. For example, there was usually just ONE person by the pool asking people for drinks so service was quite slow. Often times, there were also NO towels available and they were slow to be refilled. No one was clearing the towels off the chairs so you don't even know if there's room available for you to lounge around near the pool/beach. When you had a question at the excellence club lounge, you would have to wait quite some time as there are multiple people in line, but only ONE worker was working, and there was another guy there, but he wasn't helping and told us to wait for the girl... but then why are you there? Service anywhere was slow, and I know we're on vacation so we should be on island time, but I'm talking SLOW, like if you want to eat, expect to sit down for at least 2 hours SLOW. So in the end, we just chose to eat at the buffet for lunch. I feel like maybe there should be more people added to the kitchen or something to speed up the service (?). It was also confusing why there's workers around but no workers working. For example, we're at the excellence club beach and we see a group of >6 workers just hanging around and having fun, and we only got asked once whether we wanted a drink. I'm all about work life balance and having a fun time at work, but some work should at least be done??? How are there more than 6 of you on the beach but no one is getting drinks. And at the buffet, the workers are rushed and running around, there's no personalized experience like before, and I feel like this problem could easily be solved by just adding more workers to the floor. The first time we came here, workers were always around asking us how we're doing, how we're feeling, what we wanted to drink, remembering our names, and it just made us feel at home the entire stay -- but this time around, everything just felt so "polite" and distant. I feel like this resort really should step up their game on service so it is similar to what it was like before. Or take lessons from Ronny and Hendrix, as they were both so AMAZING. But granted, the resort is BEAUTIFUL. It's still one of the most visually pleasing resorts I've been to. The two pools at the excellence club were lovely. It was super relaxing and super refreshing since it was beautiful and quiet. And I came here to celebrate my birthday. Ahead of time I tried to pick my room online but it wouldn't let me, so I called the resort and requested a top floor room, in which they said of course BUT we did NOT get a top floor room when we arrived. Also I wanted some birthday decorations in the room and asked for their options and was happy to pay for them, and was told they don't do anything special for birthdays even if I wanted to pay. So that was extremely disappointing. BUT when we got there, they did throw a special birthday dinner for me and it was truly beautiful and amazing. I really had an amazing time, and was taking care of so well by Ronny. All in all, we still had an amazing time here, but I feel like there's much to be desired compared to the experience we had 3-4 years ago. But I guess overall it's not bad, but for the pricepoint... I feel like they should step up their game.

We love coming to this resort and are already planning our third trip here. The staff is so attentive and nice and super personal. We have truly made friends here and you can’t go wrong with Excellence Punta Cana.

I had to reschedule my birthday trip due to hurricane Melissa and I stumbled across this resort through reviews. I am so glad I did. The resort is beautiful, the people are amazing and service is top notch. Miquel in the front and Jesus on the Club excellence beach side made a lasting impression with me. I definitely will be back!

Despicable behaviour!!! I thought I was being treated well because it was my birthday however, only to find out that the club concierge Jesus wanted to get into my pants. I have screenshots of his instagram conversation with my friend. Very disturbing and unprofessional
