Excellence Punta Cana

Pros: The resort is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Food was very good for an all inclusive resort. The steak house grill was phenomenal...one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Service was quite good in the restaurants but spotty around the pool. Drinks were well made. Cons: Pool was freezing! We were unable to swim. Very few people in the pool. I may have seen 10 people in the pool the entire time we were there. Hot tub was just warm. We had no hot water in our room for a few days. I went to the front desk and reported it. Water was hot for one day and then cold again. This is not something I'd expect for a 5 star resort. Buffet was lackluster....most of the food was cold and precooked. French toast and pancakes at breakfast were cold and hard. Some of the staff appeared bored and unfriendly. One of the female waiters at breakfast rolled her eyes at me when I couldn't decide where to put my purse, All in all it was an ok vacation but disappointing that I traveled that far to not be able to swim. Would I return? Probably not.

We were more than satisfied with our stay at Excellence Punta Cana. The staff are very friendly and make you feel like family. The weather was perfect in January. 85°F and sunny with a breeze. A week’s stay gives you a good chance to eat at all the restaurants for supper. We were very pleased with the food and all the service we received during our stay. We enjoyed the entertainment as well. We highly recommend!

Our family just returned from a lovely holiday in the DR. We were supremely pleased with the resort, beach & pool. The weather was perfect, the staff was incredible (shout out to Gabriel & Javier) & accommodations were excellent & so comfortable, activities were really fun (bingo & water aerobics!). Loved it!!

This was our 4th visit to EPC and it did not disappoint. As soon as we stepped out of the private transfer (which is a very nice touch by the way) we were greeted by Joan and Noel with huge smiles and the lovely greeting of "welcome home!" We booked a Master Suite in the Excellence section and as always, it was spotless, comfortable and quiet. There were zero issues with the room during our stay. Louis Ernesto made sure we were well hydrated in the Excellence portion of the beach and his warm smile brightened my day. A HUGE thank you to Juan Carlos and Reisen at the beach Concierge for helping me plan a special surprise for my husband for our anniversary. The special care and attention you paid towards this task were very much appreciated!! Well done!! Although reading some mixed reviews regarding the change in menu options, we were never disappointed. Jensen and Orlando at Magna took great care of us, but my favourite was Katia (Hostess at Magna) with her quick sense of humour and attention to detail. She and my husband had an ongoing dialogue regarding his "Langosta" (lobster) allergy. Her light hearted nature was delightful. We were sorry to say goodbye but were are content with the knowledge that upon our next stay, we will receive the same outstanding service from the dedicated hardworking staff at EPC. When you boil it down, it's the staff that make all the difference. Well done!! See you next year- or sooner!!

Our stay was wonderful. We found the staff to be engaging, very friendly, obviously well trained and very attentive! We hope to read reviews in the future stating an improvement in overall food quality.
