Excellence Punta Cana

We stayed from March 4-March 13, 2026. This was our 4th time staying here, 9th time in Punta Cana. It was our 20th AI trip with others being in Mexico and Jamaica. This year we brought 5 other people with us. We had a wonderful time, as always, but felt we had to knock a star off because of the menu changes. The selection on the menus has been drastically reduced with several favorites not being on any dinner menus. We don't eat lunch so offering them at lunch doesn't help us. I am a very picky eater but I am also not one who needs a big dinner. I would be happy with just cheese sticks or ice cream for dinner. To go to an Italian restaurant and have no basic Italian food is ridiculous. No pasta, no lasagna, everything on the menu has seafood in it and neither of us like seafood. We found the grill to be excellent but if someone in your group doesnt like beef you are out of luck. No pizza anywhere on the resort so you have to order room service if you want it. On our last night we all ordered room service to our room for dinner because we wanted pizza . We ordered pizzas and cheese sticks but they were all out of cheese sticks. We ended up eating dinner at the sports bar 3 nights of our 9 day trip. Raquel from food service arranged for us to have lasagna (although it was definitely not the same wood fire lasagna they used to make) one night at the Italian restaurant which was so appreciated and so nice of her. We really appreciated her help but that doesn't solve the problem. It helped us that night but doesn't solve the problem. We talked with many other repeat guests, some who we have now met up with for 3 or 4 years and everyone was talking about the menu changes and how they didn't like them. We are platinum members and did not receive ANY of the perks we were supposed to get. For one of the room reservations I specifically put "60th birthday" celebration in the request but there was no mention of it at any time and the room didn't have a banner or anything acknowledging the event. No big deal for us but I know many would have been unhappy about that. Service was once again excellent. Special shout outs to Berroa at the Prelude Bar and to Hector and Alexandra and Carmen who are always such a pleasure to talk to and who all take such good care of us evey year. Berroa recognizes us and stocks the bar every night with my favorite beer. When taking his days off he always has his replacement do this for us too. Such a great asset to the resort. Transfers through Seasons were great. We had the pleasure of having Julian, "Lightening McQueen" for our return to the airport and I can't say enough good things about him. Fun, personable and really showed us a lot on the trip back. Our only suggestion for this is that they make it 3 1/2 hours before your departure instead of 3. We barely made our flight the first year so I usually ask for an earlier pickup time. They wouldn't do it this year for some reason and my brother ended up running to the gate as it was boarding. We barely had time to make our flight too. Housekeeping did a great job on our room every day and the mini bar was also stocked daily with whatever we wanted replenished. This is the most beautiful resort we have ever stayed at and it continues to be our favorite for everything but the food. Fix that issue....keep some basic, easy items on the menu so there are choices for everyone. All in all it was still a great trip to the most beautiful resort. Can't say for sure we will be back for a 5th time just because of the food issues. Don't mess with success Excellence.....keep doing what has always worked!

This was a momentous trip for us. We got engaged and the hotel were amazing. The food, the service, the facilities were incredible. I’ll save the best to last. Our sommelier and our regular waiter were incredible. Rancel and Luis were the best ever.

Wow this place is great from the welcome to the service! And the food was delicious 🙏 the vibe is so cool and everyone cannot do enough to help you… now I know why visitors keep returning and we will definitely be back!

Highly recommend staff food rooms beach and pool were great. I wish the night time entertainment was better not karaoke or a piano bar would be great

My husband and I visited in March 2026 for 6 days for our anniversary. We loved it and will be back! We had read some previous reviews that mentioned run down facilities and bad food, but we didn’t have this experience at all. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience with good food, wonderful staff, and great facilities. I do wish there was more variety of restaurants open for lunch, but not worth docking any points. This is our second Excellence trip, and we will be back!
