Excellence Punta Cana

Charming resort with a clever layout that leaves you something to discover almost every day, including parrots nesting under a wooden walkway to a beautiful pond. The food was generally fine, not remarkable, but the breakfast and lunch buffets are standouts, including omelet stations, fresh juices, tons of pastries, European breakfast stations, etc. While the decor is a little dated, the staff are seasoned and clearly care about guests and keeping things tidy. Paint was touched up, windows washed, fallen palm fronds magically disappeared, sargassum was removed every day. Beautiful, clean and accessible beaches. The recreation area was special — clay tennis courts, multiple pickleball courts, pool table, top the line technogym equipment — and fresh beverages waiting for you in a display cooler. If the restaurant food had been better, no complaints.

Excellence Punta Cana was our first resort stay in the DR and we had a great time. The facilities are beautiful and very clean, bars are excellent, and the pools and ocean front for VIP members were superb. Our only gripe was the food. Best restaurants: Agave, the Grille, and Magna but Chez Isabelle and Aroma were subpar at best. Overall the cleaning service was there everyday and was attentive. The one other downside is that the whole place is very humid, especially all the air-conditioned rooms and you leave with all of your clothes being wet, but it was a fun time and worth it! We would recommend!

Juan Carlos at the excellence club beach hut is amazing. Our first day he set us up with a cabana on the beach and every day until we left he had the same cabana set up for us for the entire day. Anything we needed while out at the beach to include drinks and lunch Juan Carlos was on it. He made your stay something to remember and represented the resort very professional. We will definitely come back.

Our stay was incredible. Staff was super friendly. We loved Luis from Los Olas and Kendry from the Bar Los Sol. They were fantastic. Only downside is when we went to lobster house service was pretty slow but everything else was great so not really anything to complain about.

Just like our other two Excellence resorts, the level of service at Punta Cana was top notch. The staff were extremely attentive and always friendly. The facilities were always clean and kept in good maintenance, except for a couple of showers around the main pool and the USB connections in our room, but those are just little things. The beaches and pool areas were maintained well and there are plenty of covered lounge chairs throughout the resort. The food is generally good,with some variation in portion size between restaurants. Our room was large and comfortable. If you can afford it, stay within the Excellence Club for enhanced service and lounging areas, and access to the lovely Magna restaurant. The nightly entertainment is generally fun and engaging, which is perfect for an after-dinner experience. Make sure to join the rewards program because the perks are pretty good at the higher levels, which aren't too difficult to reach. Overall, our Excellence experiences over the last 19 years have been pretty darn wonderful!
