Excellence Punta Cana

Entertainment not as good as it was in the past. Night time activities not really all that fun. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here before and this time might be the last time I stay.

Beautiful resort, a little dated, good restaurants and great service. Room staff is terrible though which is a huge disappointment to come back to your room and it not be picked up and your mini bar empty every day.

We just returned from an amazing stay at Excellence Punta Cana, and the standout part of our trip was truly the people who made every day memorable. Dining & Service: Fray, our favorite waiter, deserves a special shoutout. After a few meals with him (three dinners and a lunch at Kitchen Table!), he had our drink orders memorized and always had the next round ready before we even asked. He even dubbed himself the “hibachi papi,” which absolutely added to the fun. Mayelin from Oregano was another highlight—so attentive, warm, and genuinely caring throughout our meal. Marcial, our hibachi chef, was hilarious and full of energy. His performance alone is worth the reservation! We also worked with two wonderful team members from customer service—L and Y (wish I remembered their full names!)—who went above and beyond to help us with some arrangements. Diaz at Prelude kept our drinks flowing with perfect timing. Right when we’d look up to think “should we get another?” he would appear. Great cocktails, even better service. Entertainment: The entertainment team was fantastic—lively, fun, and always getting everyone involved. The bingo queen especially kept us laughing. We were blown away by the Legends show. MJ’s dancing and the Freddie Mercury vocals were seriously impressive. The Red Passion singers were another standout—amazing voices and tons of range. They could belt! I only wish they had done “Lady Marmalade” because they would have crushed it. Overall: Between the great food, beautiful resort, and the incredible staff who made us feel taken care of at every turn, we had an unforgettable stay. We’re already talking about our next trip back!

We were very disappointed in the food options and unfortunately left without a single restaurant we enjoyed. We previously visited Excellence in Mexico and had an amazing experience so we assumed the same standard here, but we were wrong. The waiters were surprisingly unfriendly, especially at Agave. Our waiter at Spice was very kind and stood out, but he was the only one who truly did. But the food was inedible. We also noticed that the staff became noticeably warmer and more attentive only after receiving tips, which makes us think they may be underpaid. We started tipping before service and immediately saw a change in behavior. Most of the food was inedible. We consistently ordered multiple dishes to give things a chance and were disappointed each time. The hotel grounds and property are beautiful, but the food experience did not come close to matching it. The lack of hospitality after the first welcome left us feeling unwelcome for most of our stay. To our surprise, when we arrived at the airport to return home, the fast food there tasted better than anything we had during our five days. Unfortunately we do not see ourselves returning to the Dominican Republic based on this experience. We will not return to any of the Excellences.

Beautiful resort, great hospitality and WONDERFUL spa. Highly recommend the Hydrotherapy. Our let down was the food. We tried almost all and quality was overall lacking. Great getaway but don't come with high dining expectations.
