Excellence Punta Cana

My husband and I stayed at excellence Punta Cana for our honeymoon. I 100% recommend the club because Magna was our favorite restaurant and you can only eat there with club. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly, facilities and pools were very clean, and the views are gorgeous! I say all of that to say that I’m very disappointed in the security/concierge services. During our stay, we had a credit card stolen on the 4th day of our trip with charges to the card made. Security, who did not speak English, came to our room with concierge, and it was a back-and-forth of translating. They’ve been proceeded to search our entire room. We continued to follow up every day only to be pushed off until the day we left. Staff told us that they would follow up once the investigation was closed… It is now weeks later, and we still have not Heard a word. I have emailed multiple times without a response, and every time I call the resort, I am transferred to guest services and the line goes dead. After speaking with multiple other people who this has happened to, I truthfully believe that this is some sort of scam that the resort is running and just happens to be getting away with. I will not say that we did not have a great time. We absolutely did! I 100% recommend this resort, but I do recommend taking all of your belongings with you. I would not trust the safe, as there is a bypass code on all of them and I have heard stories from other guests who have had belongings stolen from the safe.

Excellence Punta Cana is a true slice of paradise. The property itself is gorgeous and so relaxing, but what really made our honeymoon perfect was the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive. A few standouts we have to mention: Darling was an absolute gem. Jonathan took wonderful care of us at both Lobster House and Las Olas. Adam made our meals at The Kitchen Table and The Grill memorable. Elizabeth at Agave was lovely. And Jorge and Christian at the private cabanas went above and beyond both times we booked one. We loved this place and can’t wait to come back in January. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip unforgettable.

Overall amazing experience. The hospitality was amazing

This was my fourth stay with the Excellence Collection and my third visit to Excellence Punta Cana. Firstly, the resort itself is beautiful. The grounds are immaculately maintained, there’s a great selection of restaurants and bars, and the overall experience is consistently high quality. However, I do feel the resort has declined slightly over the years. The menu changes across several restaurants have been disappointing, with The Grill (my personal favourite) being the biggest example. A steakhouse without fries as a standard side feels like an odd choice, especially when they’ll happily bring them if you ask. It also seems there are additional items available, such as chicken, that aren’t shown on the menu, which makes the dining experience feel a little inconsistent. This was our first time staying as Excellence Club guests, and it was a fantastic upgrade. The Excellence Club bar is excellent, with a great atmosphere and superb drinks. That said, it does seem understaffed at times. As most guests order cocktails, just a couple of groups ahead of you can result in a fairly long wait. One thing that really stood out, although it’s nothing to do with the hotel itself, was the behaviour of some guests when it came to the pool floats. I’m not sure if it’s a cultural difference, but many people claimed multiple floats for the entire day, even hiding them under their sunbeds while they went for lunch. They’re meant to be shared by everyone, and unfortunately that wasn’t always the case. On the plus side, we never had any trouble finding sunbeds in the morning, which was a pleasant surprise. We also experienced an issue with our room, which was resolved relatively quickly. It did mean packing a bag around midnight and moving to the opposite side of the resort for the night, which wasn’t ideal, but the team handled it professionally and upgraded us for our final evening before checkout. The evening entertainment is another area that could be improved. The Michael Jackson show is fantastic, but I didn’t feel the other performances reached the same standard. There were also a couple of days when housekeeping didn’t attend our room, which was a little concerning. However, when they did service the room, the standard was excellent. Overall, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive throughout our stay, and they remain one of the resort’s biggest strengths. If you’re visiting for the first time, I’m confident you’ll have an amazing holiday. Perhaps some of my observations come from having visited multiple times and noticing the changes over the years. I would still highly recommend Excellence Punta Cana. Just be aware of the pool float situation and don’t be afraid to ask for items that may not appear on the menu, as there’s often more available than what’s listed.
