Mixed Experience at Excellence Punta Cana – Stunning Grounds and Service Let Down by Major Issues We recently stayed at Excellence Punta Cana. ( February 8th - 14th) in a Junior Suite Swim-Up, and while there were many highlights that made parts of our trip enjoyable, significant issues left us deeply disappointed and unlikely to return. The resort’s grounds are truly beautiful – lush, well-maintained tropical landscapes that feel serene and inviting from the moment you arrive. The beach is gorgeous, with soft white sand and clear turquoise waters, and the pool areas are equally impressive: spacious, clean, and perfectly situated for relaxation with plenty of loungers and shade. The bartenders across the resort were outstanding – friendly, skilled, and always ready with delicious drinks that kept the good vibes going throughout our stay. Room service was another strong point. The food quality was great, delivery consistently arrived in under 30 minutes, and one attendant in particular went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect – a real standout in service. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by several serious deficiencies. The food overall was subpar, especially at the Lobster House. We gave it two chances, but both visits were disappointing: service was slow and inattentive, and the lobsters were clearly undercooked or mishandled – the meat was brown and off-tasting for multiple people in our group. It felt unsafe to eat. The Magna Club restaurant was similarly underwhelming in quality and execution. We brought these concerns directly to management, but they fell on deaf ears with no real follow-up or resolution. Our room itself started off beautifully – spacious, with an amazing view and direct swim-up access. However, on the first morning, we woke up to bloodstains on the sheets, (we did not notice since the blood stains were at the bottom) which was alarming and concerning for hygiene. Then the jacuzzi began leaking, flooding parts of the room and leaving a persistent mold smell for the rest of our trip. We requested a dehumidifier to help with the moisture, but it too leaked all over the floor. Management’s response was minimal and uncommitted – no meaningful help, and no sense of urgency to fix the issues. The treatment from some staff and management felt dismissive when problems arose, which was frustrating and unexpected from a resort of this caliber. We’re sure many guests have wonderful, trouble-free stays here, as the property has undeniable beauty and some exceptional service moments. But our experience was marred by poor food quality (especially specialty dining), maintenance failures, and a lack of accountability from management. For these reasons, we won’t be booking with Excellence again. This was our honest experience – take it for what it’s worth, and perhaps others will have better luck.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Excellence. The multiple dining options were great, particularly Oregano and The Grill, and we enjoyed not having to make reservations like we did at other resorts. We preferred the sit down lunch and breakfast options over the buffet. My only complaint is the cushioned lounge chairs by the beach were hard to come by - if you didn’t stake one out at 7am you were out of luck!! Andrely the bell boy offered excellent service at checkout!!

We loved the resort. Room was perfect, we had an ocean view club room. The location was great and the views of the property were amazing. Club Level is worth it. From the airport transportation to the extra gifts received during our stay. I highly recommend it. Restaurants were good. We liked Agave Mexican the best. We had, from the main course selection, Puebla and Chilaxte. Also Poblanas crepes from the vegan selection. The Grill had very good steaks. Don't overlook the vegan selection. Some of the entrees are superb. Aroma coffee shop has yummy pastries and ice cream. Room service was very good. We ordered a bottle of wine both times and they were happy to provide it. Entertainment was good, Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury were our favorites. The beach, the pools, the gardens, all fantastic. The grounds and the rooms are very clean. We loved it all!

Excellence Punta Cana truly lives up to its name. The food is outstanding, but the people are what make this place unforgettable. Every interaction reflects pride, warmth, and genuine care—reminiscent of a time when service was a craft and work was done with heart. A beautiful experience from start to finish.
