Reviews for Excellence Punta Cana

Fantastic Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 14 hours ago

We have been home for a week and I figured I would give MY OPINION of the resort. My experience with Excellence is limited to EPC and EPM so far.  For the first few days of this trip I found myself comparing everything to how it was at EPM but realized that EPC is it’s own place.I am not going to make comparisons here but just talk about how I feel about EPC. Overall I have to say that I really liked EPC. LAYOUT:  Overall I found the resorts layout to be fairly easy to navigate especially after watching a bunch of videos on Youtube. For the most part each “building” is a group of 3 smaller buildings arranged in a triangle around a central garden area. The exceptions are buildings 5,9, and 12 which have only 2 . Buildings 1 - 5 are the EC rooms and are located to the right as you enter the lobby while 6 - 14 are to the left and contain non EC rooms. I do believe that there may be some EC rooms scatterd around in 6 - 14 also but I am not certain. ROOM: We booked an EC Swim Up room. These are located at the Cascade Pool, 8 off the top pool and 4 off the lower’ We had room 2004 which is on the right end of building 2 right next to the cascade. It and the one below us at the left end of building 4 probably have the least amount of sun per day. The rooms are pretty much the same throughout the resort unless you choose one of the upscale suites. They don’t have a vast amount of storage for clothes which was fine for us as we don’t bring a ton of clothes. Other than that we really liked our room. As far as housekeeping and turn down service, they were adequate and did the essentials but did not seem to go above and beyond. The mini dar stocker did go above and beyond and actually lrft us 6 packs of Presidente beer. POOLS & BEACH:  There are technically 3 pools but I consider the main pool to be 2 , which I will explain in a moment. The EC section has the Cascade Pool as well as a small ocean front pool. Each has a bar located nearby. They were fairly quiet until around 1:00 until about 5:00. We only hung out at the ocean front on 1 day and the cascade on another although we did spend aalot of time in the upper cascade pool. We actually spent most of our pool time at the main pool. This pool starts off of the lobby in a large waist deep round area where the activities take place,. It then meanders into a lazy riverish section that passes between Oregano and Lobster House, by the Blue bar(the swim up bar located on the basck of Oregano) and opens into a wide area at the bridge located by Buildings 7 and 8. Here you must exit the pool and walk to the other side of the bridge, which is why I said that I condider this to be 2 pools. From this point you can continue on past the Sol Bar where the pool opens into a large area around the building 11 & 14 bridge. You can swim under this bridge and finish at a beach like section of the pool whwere you can wlk in or out. The depth of these pools changes dramatically from the waist deep activities area to about 5 feet deep before you reach the other end. The noise level also changes from loud at activities end to very quiet at the walk in end. This is nice because there is an area for everyone and when I say the activity area is loud I just mean compared to the other end. It is not really loud any where hear. As far as the beach, we didn’t spend much time there. Did a couple of sunrise walksand I went in to the right of the EC area where it seems to be calmer. The main area of the beach was red flagged every day and the EC section had 2 days with yellow flags. Overall we stayed out of the rough waves. But they were pretty to look at. ENTERTAINMENT:  The night time entertainment was OK. We saw the Circus, Retro Galactic and Legends (Michael Jackson and Freddy Mercury) shows and can honestly say that if I skip them on future visits I won’t miss them. The local bands and musicians were pretty good. The daytime activities were very good. Mike, Miguel Pikachu, Bernadino and Adriana(Honey) were fantastic as was the rest of that group. They said hello every time that they saw us and told us of the days activities. We did more things on this trip than the 3 others that we have taken. SPA: We only did the Hydrotherapy that came with our room but it was very nice. Gabriel led us through it and gave us neck, shoulder and foot massages that were so relaxing that my wife started refering to him as the Angel Gabriel. FOOD & DRINKS: I will probably write a more comprehensive review of the Restaurants and bars since this is getting longer than I intended. I will mention a few names of people that I feel did a great job. Jensel at Magna was incredible and I would say the best of the best. He and two other waiters whose names I unfortunately did not get made Magna our favorite. We had three breakfasts and 2 dinners there. Also I want to mention Jesus at Lobster House, David at Chez Isabell and the Sushi guy at Spice who’s name I missed as well. As far as bartenders there was one at Blue Bar who made the best Blue Hawaiins, my favorite EPC drink. Like I said we had a great time and will definitely be back.

Adult Family getaway.

My wife and I went on a family vacation with our adult children and their SO's. We stayed in the excellence club suites all garden view, and were all very impressed with our rooms. very short walk to the club pools and really the rest of the facility as well. rooms come standard with 3 liquor bottles and we all exchanged for exactly what our preference was. Pools were clean, refreshing and not too crowded. It was easy to find a place to sit at both the club and the non club pools. the beach was also pretty easy to find chairs at. the ocean was a bit on the rough side but we like to boogie board and body surf so that was great for us. The service was great everywhere! Yeraldine the waitress at the martini bar, Hendruix at the Excellence club pool and the bartender Willson all stood out to us and felt like extended family by the end of the trip. we will defiantly consider coming back to this resort.

This resort was FABULOUS! You are totally taken care of. When you arrive you receive a glass of champagne, a cool towel to wipe your face and hands, and a big “Welcome Home!". I am very big on service and the service I received at the Excellence Punta Cana was unmatched. Plus it's only for adults… so no screaming kids! The food was very good and they offer premium drinks. I would stay there again anytime.
