Excellence Punta Cana

Staff- Service wasn’t a highlight at this resort. There were a few staff that were great, but several that were truly terrible and a handful that were kind but still didn’t do their jobs very well. Overall, the staff is very chatty. The club level pool bartenders made weak drinks, but made a point to be extra friendly to us during our stay. Several moments with the staff left a bad taste in our mouth. I speak Spanish and a few jokes/banter crossed a line into being inappropriate. On our last day, all the staff were very pushy about reviews and one even went so far as to grab my phone and leave a Google review for the resort giving herself a personal shoutout… even though she made every drink wrong that we asked for. However, standouts were Ramon and Hector the bartenders at the martini bar at night. I’m convinced they’re the only ones who know how to make a proper drink at the resort. Cristhian and Reison on the club level beach cabanas were amazing and went above and beyond. When it started raining, they retrieved our belongings and kept them from getting wet even before receiving a tip. Food- average for an all inclusive. Not a single thing I’d come back for, but nothing bad or inedible. Buffet was clean, but wait staff was the let down at every restaurant. I live in Latin America and am used to casually slow service. This was a different level. We were straight up ignored for close to an hour in certain restaurants. Las Olas lunch and dinner at Chez Isabelle were our favorites. Property- flawless. For an older resort, it has been kept up meticulously and very clean. It’s beautiful, well organized, and both the pool and beach are amazing. We had the Excellence Club Master Suite double beds and it was great for a girls’ trip. Club level- I feel like it was worth it, but obviously to each their own and depends on the cost. For us, it was a small up charge and worth it for the extra service beachside, cabanas, extra restaurant, free spa hydrotherapy, etc. Seasons transfers: it was easy to book and included, but they skipped our name and we waited as everyone else from our flight was sent on their way. I asked 3 times before they double checked and corrected their mistake. I know they just missed our name on the WhatsApp chat. It was a simple mistake, but unfortunate it was never addressed or apologized for. Overall, we felt safe and appreciated the cleanliness, but won't be returning due to poor food/drinks and the level of service.

The only complaint was when we had a tour that was picking us up at 7am. The lady at Seasons told us to call the kitchen to put our breakfast order in to be sent to our room for 6:30. The guy at the front desk said to call at 5:45 am. We did that and woke up early to call them, but just got the voice mailbox that was full. The front desk then connected us, but the breakfast never came to our room #8211. We also wish we could have gone into the ocean. I have been at Majestic twice and loved swimming in the ocean. I didn't realize because of the location that there was mostly no swimming (the red flags were almost always up).

We just checked in and already this stay is off to a terrible start. We booked a room with a private pool and received an email asking if we wanted to pick the location of our room. After that we were just told that it was 300 USD extra just to pick the room. We were never told this before.

We had a wonderful time at Excellence! The view is absolutely stunning, and the food is delicious! Leo at Oregano spoiled us with his service and made our trip! We will be coming back for sure!
