Excellence Punta Cana

Unfortunately the staff tried to overcharge us on three separate occasions. The last thing you want to experience at an all-inclusive resort...

Everyone was very friendly. The app was a great resource. I would go back! This resort does a wonderful job of blending modern comfort with the natural beauty. All staff was friendly and helpful. The ocean view is absolutely breathtaking.

I would say that the excellence Punta Cana is probably the best vacation that I’ve had in nearly a decade being with my partner. Here was a really romantic and fun time. The activities are not super advertised, but I would recommend looking at the app in order to find out more. I think that the best friends that I made here were at the poker experience, the outdoor volleyball, and at the various eating events, such as the paella in sangria tasting. A lovely service overall, and I think that the shows in the evening were also very fun. I especially liked the Beatles performance, and the circus performance.

Excellence Punta Cana is a lovely adults-only all-inclusive resort with beautiful grounds and a stunning beachfront location. The rooms were spacious albeit we had no WiFi in our room in block 10 or on the balcony which was frustrating. We appreciated the towel art created by housekeeping. Fridges and bathroom amenities were replenished daily and the air con worked well throughout our stay. The beach and pool areas are lovely with plenty of loungers, however, most of the sun loungers lacked padded covers and they were not very comfortable. I’d expect a 5 star hotel to provide padded loungers for all. Bar staff are super friendly and always ready with a smile and quick service. We didn’t make the most of the evening entertainment as we tended to go to bed early because we were pretty jet lagged from our UK flight. Despite this, we never woke early enough to secure a padded lounger. You needed to set an alarm for 6am for those which is quite frankly ridiculous! The food really lets the hotel down and that includes Chez Isabelle. When I came here 18 years ago it was so much better now standards have slipped massively. We had tough steak and lamb in Chez Isabelle and the crème brûlée wasn’t a crème brûlée - just filo pastry with a dollop of custard on top. Food was consistently served lukewarm and starters often arrived at the same time as main courses. Both my husband and I suffered what we call a “dicky tummy” in the UK. Food standards need a vast improvement in every restaurant. I got bitten a number of times by sand flies - itchy - but that’s fairly standard for me. All in all it was a nice week but I wouldn’t return.
