Excellence Punta Cana

We just got back from this resort and it was our 2nd time going. The resort is absolutely stunning with attention spent on cleanliness, gorgeous views and service. Staff was always anxious to please and continued to ask if we needed anything which was much appreciated. With the exception of Chez Isabelle, Magna and Lobster House, food was sub par on this visit. Evening entertainment needs a major overhaul with many of the guests leaving shortly after many of the evening shows started which is a shame. We found this resort to be perfect for couples and adult family members. This is the place a person goes to for service, relaxation and welcoming......You are Appreciated as Guests here and once you arrive.....You are greeted with "Welcome Home" which is always a great start to your stay. This resort truly is a gem!!

Honest Review I’ve been to a lot of all inclusives and this is a great resort, food was great, beds were comfortable. The staff is very helpful overall beautiful Resort Can’t wait to try other Excellence Resorts

We went to Punta Cana to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted at the front by a very nice young man and taken around to the Excellence club check-in. The check-in lobby was full, so they had him seat us outside in the sun under an umbrella. 15 minutes went by and no one came to check us in, but other couples were being checked in and taken to their rooms. The young man brings another couple and takes them into the Excellence Club lobby for check-in and notices that we are still sitting outside. He went back inside to get someone, then took us into the lobby to wait even longer to be checked in. Finally, after a group of 6 had been checked in (we were there long before they showed up), we checked in and were told to wait to be shown to our room, never explaining the Excellence Club benefits or where or what was in the actual Excellence Club area. Our room was at the very end on the opposite side from where the Excellence Club was. Since we were never told about it and our room was on the completely opposite side, we didn’t know where the Excellence part was or had the opportunity to use the amenities. There were never enough chairs out on the beach and around the pool for everyone, so we had to get up early to get a chair. In a luxury resort such as this, there should be enough chairs for everyone. We went to the Lobster House one night and really enjoyed the lobster. We went back the next night and were told they didn’t have any more lobster in a Lobster House right next to the ocean. Beach service was virtually non-existent. We went ourselves up to the pool area to get drinks. Overall, we were very displeased and disappointed with the quality of the resort experience. We have stayed at other resorts in DR and had much better experiences for less cost. We will not be staying in any other Excellence Resorts again.

Relaxing, fun. Great staff that seemed to want to be there. Spa team and treatments are fantastic. Highly recommend!

We stayed in the Excellence Club Junior Suite with Private Pool at Excellence Punta Cana for a week. For the roughly $4,500 room only price tag, and about $7,100 total once flights and transfers were included, we expected more from the upgraded experience. As Excellence Club guests, the main benefit seemed to be access to a few additional amenities. Beyond that, there did not seem to be much real priority or elevated service. There were no general restaurant reservations or meaningful priority perks, aside from accommodations for a special occasion we were celebrating. For a next-tier room category, we expected better room quality and a more noticeable upgrade, but the experience mostly fell flat. The room itself was disappointing for the price. There were multiple cracks in the walls and ceilings, and the private pool attached to our room had cracks and stains. The bathroom setup was also not very private. Your partner will hear absolutely everything happening in that bathroom, which is not ideal for a premium, romantic suite. We also had a leak from the ceiling in our room. Instead of offering to move us or making it feel like a priority, we had to deal with maintenance coming into the room to work on the leak. Additional leak-related repair work was also being done outside our room on the other side of the wall, including hammering that went on for hours. We also experienced several power outages during our stay. Combined with the room issues, maintenance disruptions, and lack of meaningful Excellence Club priority, it added to the disappointment. For comparison, we stayed at Royalton Negril in Diamond Club about seven years ago for around $6,000 for a family of four. We did fly Spirit for that trip, which was cheaper than the Delta flights we took to Punta Cana, but Royalton still delivered a better upgraded-club experience in both my wife’s and my opinion. We also did a Virgin Voyages cruise for about $7,300, with gratuities included. Since we did not have to fly, the total cost was very close to this Excellence trip once flights, transfers, and tipping were factored in. The Virgin Voyages experience was leagues better. Our butler handled every need, arrival and departure were coordinated, and the facilities and food were much better. Excellence Punta Cana is still a beautiful resort, but it is definitely showing its age. We enjoyed parts of the trip, but the Excellence Club upgrade did not feel worth the added cost.
