Excellence Punta Cana

This was our first time at the resort and our activities were absolutely incredible!!! Our favorite entertainment team members were Honey, Joy Boy, Eduardo - Mr Panda, and Nikki Minaj! They made our trip so memorable by making sure we got to do each activity we wanted to do and helped us complete each one. Honey was so kind and even stayed a little longer to make sure we got to do a bracelet for my daughter when the activities overlapped and I was late to it. I was so thankful for her kindness. They truly made this trip such a blast and have really fun personalities! My husband was bummed out y’all don’t do the cigar rolling class anymore so if I were to give any advice I’d say to add that back on😊 Special shoutouts to Benjamin in Oregano and Jensel in Magna! Benjamin always has a smile on his face and was so attentive and kind to us even when we saw him in other places in the resort. Jensel has such a precious personality it’s like you’ve known him your entire life. He just radiates kindness and was so good to us at Magna making sure we were taken care of each night we ate there.

The beach is beautiful and clean with bar and food service..the pools are crystal clear, also with great bars and servers..the landscaping is impeccable.. our room was nice with a well stocked mini fridge.. the staff is happy and helpful and are the heart of Excellence..Juan Carlo made sure we were pool or beach ready every day !!

I had flight credits for a solo trip (my first) and after a lot of research I decided to go with Excellence Punta Cana. I was looking for quiet and relaxing, not a foam party resort vibe - so this fit the bill perfectly. I did spring extra for the Excellence Club and I do recommend it. The trip came with a round trip private SUV airport transport so make sure to book that once the room reservation is done (I booked direct through their site) Key standouts - food at Magna(Jensel took good care of me there), food during Dominican night, dinner at Chez Isabelle, coffee and snacks from Aroma, the Mille Spa massage service with Jocasta. Service from staff was always great, especially from the EC Beach Club concierge folks Reiyson and Juan Carlos who always helped set up a beach bed for me, and Hendrieux who kept the drinks flowing. I only got mini fridge refill once and room cleaning once but made sure to leave tips. Please make sure to tip when you can. Yes it's all inclusive but tipping goes a long way to building rapport and good service from staff when they feel appreciated. The botanical garden was also beautiful. The beach had some yellow flags day when I went and I did not see sargassum. Bad experiences - did not care for the dinner apps at Lobster House. Did not generally enjoy the buffet when I tried it for lunch once. The complain and worry mostly comes from seeing so much food left lukewarm or almost at room temp at the buffett, which is certainly welcoming stomach issues. Room Service was 2 hours late with breakfast one morning and gave me a bacon omelette, when I stressed for only veggies. The veggie omlette took about another 40 mins to get to me. Also when I was getting my hydrotherapy circuit (included if you get an EC club room) another guest had apparently dropped his room key in the pool, and instead of the staff asking him to wait till I was done with my treatment they allowed the gentleman to just jump into the pool and retrieve his room key. When I brought this up to spa management they only apologized- did not try to make it up in any other way like offering a free service or discount or something. (I had already had a paid spa experience earlier which I said to charge to my card on file at check out - they could have offered a discount on that as an apology, they did not) The resort is fine but could stand to get a little renewal/makeover with the interiors to bring it to more modern times. Would I return? Probably yes I would. Just little things to work out, which I left with them directly at check out (same things I mentioned here). Things are a little older - if they claim to be luxury they should look into updating things. Pro Tip - Do not ingest water from the tap, not even for brushing your teeth. They have ample bottles of water they can provide. Use that.

Our stay was horrible. This property is marketed with language suggesting a luxury, high-end experience, but what we experienced was disgusting, loud, unsanitary, and deeply disappointing. We saw mouse droppings. The food was deplorable, and we became so sick that we had to buy anti-diarrhea medication and change our flights to leave early. That caused us to incur additional costs on top of an already unacceptable stay. The property was not modern, peaceful, or luxurious. The conditions felt unsafe and unsanitary. Staff also disclosed information to us that raised serious concerns about the property, which only reinforced our decision to leave. The only positive part of the trip was the spa, which appeared to be run separately from the resort. Everything else was a disaster. I would not return, and I would strongly caution anyone considering this property to look elsewhere. This was the worst resort experience we have ever had.

Dionisio at the Lobster House gives EXCELLENT service. At the breakfast shift today, he frequently refilled my wife and I’s mimosa and coffee cups, asked how our vacation was, remembered us from dinner 3 days prior, and even helped schedule a reservation at Agave for dinner with a recommended colleague. Come to Lobster House and request Dionisio!
