Excellence Punta Cana

I am a frequent visitor of this hotel, going several times a year. I fell in love with it just over two years ago and felt it was a perfect place. I did notice a few more changes on my previous January trip which I may not have been a fan of but nothing was a deal breaker and I still enjoyed the trip thoroughly (still missed the poolside pizza). I returned the week after Easter and it’s still a beautiful hotel with a perfect layout and perfectly maintained grounds. However, I was quite surprised at even more changes which detracted from the lux feel of the hotel and its beauty, all things that really had made the place special. The wonderful Bali beds which had been available on the main side of the resort lined up along the pool and beach boardwalk were removed. They were one of the things that really made this hotel stand out and the background of many photos (they still show them on many marketing materials and even the interactive map). They also weren’t replaced with any other seating and it appears palapas were permanently removed so for the first time there was an issue finding chairs. Reduced seating by the biggest section of the main pool seams quite odd and looks strange. It is possible that they have just ordered new chairs because this was very disappointing. They also had less live bands for dancing as they had before. They seem to be replaced with more solo singers singing to a background track-lovely people but just not the same. The DJ does a great job but pre dinner bands were always so great there in the past. I used to get a nice red wine as diamond member in previous trips along with champagne, but hadn’t received that in the past two visits so maybe that’s another cutback. I keep recommending friends and family to this hotel so I am hoping some changes are just temporary. The food aside from the poolside offerings was very good, I did find the preparation overall has improved- the grill, chez Isabelle and kitchen table were standouts. The aroma coffee shop still makes great coffee and pastries. First time guests I am sure will love it here, but I was spoiled by previous visits. I am looking at maybe trying some other hotels in the area and splitting my future trips so I can still stay loyal to EPC but also see what others may have to offer. The staff is just phenomenal and continues to go out of their way for guests and would be the main reason for my return

This was our first time in the Dominican and we absolutely loved our resort and the whole trip. The resort was clean and beautiful and the staff were amazing. We will definitely be coming back and would recommend!

Everything was wonderful! The resort was beautiful!!! Everyone’s favorite bell boy, Jonathan was great. Ramon at the Martini Bar was a blast. Ricardo at the Magna Bar was a true pro! Julio was our guy though! He was fantastic in everything we needed!!!! Cheer PC!

Overall great time with all staff members and met some great people. Menus have changed. No bali beds at the main pool area. No pizza. Loved the pizza. Very few chairs by the main pool. We have always been club members but love the interaction at the main pool. The bali beds were so much more comfortable for us. Kudos to Coca Cola the entertainment manager. My go to if I needed anything. Also Cappuccino by the main pool. The towels were delivered and picked up by Freemin and he was so pleasant to speak with. Werner 1&2 also took care of us. Will return soon!!!!!

Even with the minor missteps with the food, I look forward to coming back here in the future. The facility is perfect and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
