Excellence Punta Cana

This pertains to dealing with Excellence Resorts management. We were set to leave January 28th. They canceled our flights once we got to the airport because not enough flight crew showed up. The airline refunded our flights because there were no flights out that could get us to Punta Cana for at least 2 days, which we couldn’t move our vacation days 2 extra days. I immediately called the hotel to see what we could do. I got hung up on three times. So I got on their chat and was told to cancel in order to not be a no-show. I purposefully bought two refundable rooms, but the cancellation date was January 27th. Keep in mind our flights were cancelled at the airport. The chat person put in a refund waiver request, but I said I would love to have a resort credit so we could book their Cancun resort for Feb 22. I was told I would hear back in 24 to 72 hours. EIGHT DAYS LATER, and talking to at least 5 different people, we get a denied refund or resort credit. So instead of making a new loyal customer and wanting them to spend more money at their resort if they gave us a credit, they basically stole our money. We would have booked immediately at their Cancun property had they given us a refund or credit. Now they’ve lost a customer for life. And I’ll spread the word.

We had a jr suite with private pool and our pool was freezing! We ended up only using it 2x during our 10 night stay. Service was good, rooms were a good size, food was alright but made my husband a bit sick due to us not being used to the food and what they cook with. I enjoyed the bed but my husband had a hard time sleeping with the softness of the bed. The rooms do get moist/damp from the weather so I’d recommend bringing damp rid.The staff was great and one of our favorite things was the omelettes! There is a lot to do on the resort if you’re into the activities offered. We just wish the pool temps were warmer and the food had a bit more selection. After 10 days we got bored of our options. Also bring pants or you cannot get into so restaurants!

From the moment we arrived, this resort exceeded every expectation. The property is absolutely beautiful—immaculately maintained, thoughtfully designed, and full of charm and character. Every detail, from the lush grounds to the comfortable and stylish accommodations, made it feel like a true paradise getaway. What really sets this resort apart is the incredible service. The staff went above and beyond at every turn—warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making our stay unforgettable. It’s clear they take great pride in creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere for their guests.

My husband and I had the absolute best time on our honeymoon! We spent a week at this resort and everything was amazing. The resort itself is tropical and situated along a more private section of the beach so there isn’t another resort on top of it. The pool is spread along the resort with a plethora of chairs spread out along the pools and beach offering space from others. The restaurants were ranging good to fantastic without much of a wait. The staff and service and exceptional. The cons we noticed would be the water being rough most days, however it is quite shallow and if you are a strong enough swimmer you can make the best of it. We did book an Dunn Buggy excursion through seasons at the resort and this was probably the worst part of our trip. The excursion was chaotic, disorganized and disappointing to say the least. Overall we had a great time and can’t wait to hopefully return!!
