Reviews for Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa Resort
We just returned from a family vacation at the Palma Real. The resort is simply picturesque and beautiful. Well-maintained, clean and luxurious (and I look at all the details like under the bed, the mattress, etc. Not disappointed!). We had a king suite and jr. suite attached for 4 of us and it was plenty of space and nicely appointed. We felt safe on the resort, with safes in the room. Although I do wish they had the latch security locks on the hotel doors for extra security at night. The staff are very friendly, professional and the service is good. My two teen-aged daughters had plenty to do, and my husband and I enjoyed sitting at the beach. The food and drinks were plentiful and the wide variety of options at the buffet suited all of us. I would recommend making dinner reservations ahead of a visit...we weren't aware of this but were able to eat at the restaurants 3 of our 5 evenings. My daughter and I had a massage at the Yhi Spa, which is lovely. The a la carte prices for the Spa services are high, but it was a good experience. We also enjoyed a SUP yoga and spinning class in the pool, and the beach parties and live music are fun. Memorable staff are Boni (at the beach) and Argenis, a.k.a. LookyLookyWow.
We spent 7 days at this resort and were able to book Royal Service online directly with the resort for a very fair price. What we liked most: - the beautiful resort grounds and facilities and the rooms in Royal Service are top notch. (But try to avoid Room 2103 as the balcony looks out onto a service road and the privacy wall for the adjacent resort). It is not a “garden view” at all. - the service. Fatima at RS reception, Rafael at the beach, Pedro at the pool, Richard at the fitness centre, and Yudelquis at Fuego were all exceptional. Argenis, our butler, was very good also and worked hard to provide the best possible service but sometimes seemed to be run off his feet. - all of the staff at the Lobby Bar were also great and made this our favourite evening destination. - the Royal Service pool and beach areas with comfortable seating and pleasant bar staff made this our go-to destination each day. - Bana Hibachi was by far our preferred dinner destination Areas to improve: - the food quality in the restaurants was good but not great. 4/5 at best. - the resort needs to improve its food and beverage reservation system. Several times we arrived at a restaurant at the time booked by our butler, and the restaurant staff had a very different time showing. - the quality and diversity of entertainment and evening activities were a bit disappointing for such a highly rated resort. Consider hiring a piano player or other musicians to liven up the atmosphere in the Lobby or Avenue bars. I would rate evening entertainment and activities 3/5 at best. All in all a very good value resort that I will certainly recommend to friends.

As usual, our holiday was amazing. Our butler Ariel was fantastic. He attended to our every need and request with professionalism and was quick to accommodate our needs. Fernando in room service ensured we always got what we wanted. Carlos Rosario and Pedro took care of preparing our preferred spot on the beach and with the help of bartender Wanda Correa, made sure our Pina Colodas were frequent and delish. Had an amazing stay and look forward to next year.
This was our second visit to a Melia property, so we had something to compare to. (We've stayed at Paridisus Esmeralda playa del Carmen). Pros- the beach is very nice, broad, sandy, beautiful turquoise water. The restaurants were fairly easy to get into after the first night- they let you make reservations for your entire stay at once. Bana was our favorite . The rooms were large and roomy. The gym facilities were very nice, as was the spa. For the most part the staff was friendly, attentive and pleasant. Cons- we stayed on the ground floor and has visits from cockroaches, centipedes, spiders and mosquitos. They likely came from the garden. The front desk couldn't do anything for us because they were full to capacity. They fumigated and cleaned the room with bleach, which seemed to do the trick (we slept with the bathroom lights on as a deterrent though). They room was musty and tired. It could use some updating. Most furniture was damaged. Once they bleached the room, it smelled much better. We also removed the fabric canopy from above the bed which helped with the moldy smell. Asked for a bleach cleanse and remove the canopy if the mold bothers you. This property was great if you just want to relax. There is not a whole lot to do on the property at night. I didn't notice metered taxis either. There are two shopping areas about 15 min away - small malls. The beach was very windy this week- but that wasn't the hotel's fault. It was difficult to sit on the beach as the sand was whipping and our faces. A lot of seaweed was also on the beach and in the water. Many of the chairs needed to be replaced. It was more comfortable by the pool. However, you only received cushions on the reserve side. We had trouble with the food and resorted to pasta and rice every day. There is a large selection at the buffet but not enough for our liking. (We generally don't like all inclusive food though). I suggest staying at the Reserve or paying more for the Royal service if you want access to certain restaurants or beach/pool areas. We felt limited. All in all it was a nice week. Next vacation we won't do the all-inclusive type of place.

The worst most convoluted service. Starting with they didn’t have our reservation since we made it via Expedia. I guess they don’t like that. Then there was no room at the Reserve where we had booked so we had to stay elsewhere on the property. By the time we got to our room it was two hours and five people later. And it appears that everyone’s looking for a tip even though it was their mistake that took us through five people! And this place is expensive. Our first dinner reservation: they didn’t have it even though our concierge insisted they must. The restaurant turned us away without alternatives. Can’t figure out why the restaurant reservations are such a colossal mess here. You can’t make them until you get here and then the times and restaurants you want are all taken. We booked a massage but they failed to tell us that the girls hadn’t shown up until we were waiting for 40 minutes! For three days our room wasn’t serviced when we returned from the beach at 4pm. And on and on.
