Reviews for Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort

Poor

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

Trust the poor reviews. Have been all over mexico and never met such a dirty resort or a resort with so much misleading information. The Preferred versus Secrets labelling leads you to be stopped at every corner for them to tell you "can't go there or can't come in here" when we had the preferred package. The coffee shop is amazing and Pao at the preferred check in was patient and sweet, letting us into a restaurant we were restricted from.

Not all Secrets resorts are created equal, apparently. I had such high hopes, and it was the most disappointing vacation I’ve ever had. It’s just a slick concrete and glass beast plopped in the jungle. The layout was ridiculous, annoying, frustrating, unnecessary, and totally unenjoyable. It requires way too much walking and we were never able to find “our spot” and just relax. Let me explain why… Our room was a preferred club panoramic view on level 6. It was a view out the back of the property next door and a dog that barked all week. The bathroom shower is open to the entire room, so there is no privacy. The vanity is ridiculous and the whole thing is clearly designed by a man that doesn’t use toiletries or lighting to get ready. The sinks were gigantic and left no room for any stuff. Can’t see enough anywhere in the room to apply makeup. Closet, safe, nightstands were ok. We never used the plunge pool because it was ice cold. The adult side buffet was on our floor. Breakfast and coffee there was good, and outside the buffet was the preferred club bar. It is the only place AT THE ENTIRE RESORT to get a drink before 11 am. Yes, that’s correct. From our room down to the beach or the level 0 pools is a 10-15 minute adventure involving 2 different sets of elevators and then you get down there and you cannot even get a water to drink until 11. The pools on 0 were better than the pools on 6 & 8, but only because they were real pools, not just 2 feet deep like 6 & 8. None were clean, all had floating debris and suntan oil. Food was okay, but none of the restaurants blew us away. The burgers and fries at the Manatees pool were good and our best dinner was probably El Patio. The steaks at El Patio were better than the steaks at Bluewater Grill. Our dinner at Seaside Grill was pretty good, but the lunch vibe was too noisy and crazy. I wanted to love this place, but my reaction was just visceral hatred and it didn’t get better as the week went on. We actually changed our flights to leave a day early. I just didn’t want to be there anymore. Drinks were okay. The employees were okay. Our butler was worthless and only ever said no. We would never ever come back to this resort again, sorry. It wasn’t relaxing or special at all.

Beautiful all inclusive resort with great service

Cannot say enough about this beautiful resort. Would 100 % go again. The food is very good especially the market cafe for breakfast , the Blue Water grill and Bordeaux. Did not use room service as we were so busy enjoying the resort we did not have time. Coco Cafe was open 24hours and had great coffees snack and gelato for a quick bite. The staff is AMAZING. Really just felt a great deal of warmth from the Mexican people. Do not miss Tacoyatl for amazing street tacos and Mexican goodies in a cool vibe. ALL the bars were outstanding. All in all a great value

Third time not a charm

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We are UVC Impression Black members and this was our third time in three years at this resort. It didn’t live up to our expectations unfortunately. We brought first time family who didn’t notice the little things like we did. Lack of nightly entertainment and daily activities, way too many weddings and corporate events. There are much better Secrets resorts out there. We were happy to know they added pickleball courts but if we didn’t bring our friends, we wouldn’t have played due to lack of people. The instructor ( I can’t remember his name but he was great), gave lessons daily. On the good side, some of the same staff is there after three years. We were greeted by Salvador on arrival with “let’s play volleyball”. He remembered us, amazing. Omar, his side kick was there too. Omar arranged an extra water volleyball game when I requested it. Both lovely young men. Edgar in entertainment was a joy to see again. His high energy is fun to be around. Daniel our pool server was nice to see again. Jonny and Eric helped us when we rented the huge cabana. Glad to see them again. Oscar our waiter at the Mexican festival and outdoor BBQ was so fast with his service. New faces who were helpful, Alan at the preferred check in was AMAZING. He helped with an upgraded room, got all four of us a special dinner under the stars, helped arrange a birthday bed surprise for my sister in law with the help of Veronica (in charge of housekeeping). To us staff and activities make a big difference in our having fun. The food was excellent which is a plus, but because Bahi Mita did away with so much entertainment (no more sip and paint) we probably won’t be back.

very nice property

the property was outstanding, the drinks were excellent (but wines were ridiculously priced) overall food was good, but some specialty restaurants were good, but not special. the property & pool area was outstanding, but beach was basically non-existent. & property is remote from downtown PV, about an hour each way
