Hermitage Bay in Saint Mary, Antigua and Barbuda

An unpaved road on the southeast coast of Antigua leads to Hermitage Bay, a collection of 25 villas clustered around the brilliant blue Caribbean Sea that offers a place to relax, restore and reconnect to a deeper self. Suites are airy and soothing, constructed from purpleheart, greenheart and other woods from sustainably managed forests in Guyana. Daily meditation and yoga classes, along with the natural beauty of deserted beaches, bring a sense of balance nurtured by caring staff.

Match your breath to the breeze rustling through fragrant frangipiani and oleander. Go for a swim among coral fish and dine in a grove of almond trees on a salad from the kitchen’s own organic produce garden. Gaze out at the silhouettes of Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis on the horizon while sipping a glass of prosecco.

Excellent hotel. Residences with pool on the hillside recommended. Very attentive and friendly staff. Service standards are high and all the staff seem genuinely proud of the hotel. The atmosphere is informal, casual and well-judged, not overly bling and all the better for it. Staff to guest ratio is very high. The integration of the residences into the beach, the landscape and the surrounding gardens speaks volumes for the owner's original vision for the hotel. Good food and wine selection throughout. We loved it!

The resort is top notch. The food is amazing, I suggest getting 3 entries every meal (it's all inclusive so might as well!). The staff all knows you by name after day 1. Beach is nice and private. Quite resort, so nothing is ever crowded. We stayed in a villa on the mountain and it was well worth having our own pool and ocean view.

About 30 minutes from the airport in a more secluded part of south side of Antigua the accommodations are cottage style with outdoor verandas w beautiful ocean views , a large soaking tub, and clean outdoor shower the rooms are very big and the mini bar is always stocked to your liking! The food and beverage here is included and is very good the menu changes daily w lots of local and seasonal flavors they have a garden in the grounds that provide some of the produce the resturant is lovely and very efficient they make fantastic cocktails w fresh juice and have a nice wine list too the beach is very clean and they have a great chair and umbrella setup w some water sports available we came at a weird time where they had some flooding so we lost a little beach time but they did their very best to clean up the property in a timely matter after Mother Nature did her thing ! The spa was lovely too a bit pricey but they offer nice packages that allow for some savings the spa is beautiful with an out door deck up on the mountain with beach views the outdoor Yoga and Pilates deck has equally gorgeous views this place generally attracts an older crowd it seems Bc it’s a safe haven for relaxation besides a live band they feature nightly at dinner it’s a very quiet place and is just the place u wanna go if your looking for serenity and tranquility

My husband and I stayed here for 12 nights in late February. Every year for the past 26 years we have been to an hotel which, sadly, was demolished by Hurricane Irma last year. We had to find another hotel and at first it seemed an impossible task. We chose Hermitage Bay as it seemed to offer what we needed - comfort, rest and relaxation, good food, a beach, sunshine. We found it to be the most delightful place, with beautiful grounds, wonderfully comfortable suites, superb food and wine, and the sort of welcome and service you don't often get as consistently as this was. We had heard that the staff here were excellent, what we could not have imagined what how warm, welcoming, personable and efficient they are. From the moment we were met at the airport to the moment we had to say goodbye, we were cared for in every way. Of course this does not happen by accident, the management team are superb, always on the ball yet not intrusive, and the staff - suffice it to say that when we filled in our questionnaire at the end and were asked to nominate one member of the staff for Employee of the Month, we could not, we had to nominate the whole team. Everyone went the extra mile - the beach attendants who were there immediately you went out to your sun lounger and brought beach towels and an ice bucket with bottles of water, adjusted seating, put up our umbrella, and later came round with platters of fresh fruit and drinks. One also took the trouble to look for my bottle of sun cream which i had mislaid. He found it and brought it to me with a huge smile on his face. The restaurant staff - sheer professionalism, so attentive, remembered our choices after the first day and brought still water instead of sparkling, coffee instead of tea, that sort of thing. Every single person really wanted to make us comfortable. They knew our names, we never had to tell anyone our room number. We were looked after everywhere - when we went into the organic garden to see the fruit and vegetables grown with devotion by Fabian, when we went for walks outside the hotel grounds the security staff checked that we had come back safely, the bar staff made it all fun and the room staff left our room looking immaculate. The food and drink were of the highest quality. We looked forward to every meal. I have given Hermitage Bay 5 stars as it is thoroughly deserved. The little niggles which were there but did not detract from our overall enjoyment were the beach, which was not as sandy as we would have liked, the open plan bedroom and bathroom - we feel a bathroom is better with a door, and the windy weather, which was definitely not the hotel's fault! Thank you, Hermitage Bay, for our very happy stay. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were ready to go after that. This is a great place to go if you’re ok with simply relaxing. My husband and I found ourselves very bored as there wasn’t a lot of activities to keep us occupied. The crowd is a much older crowd and the night life is nonexistent. We found ourselves sitting alone in the bar area before dinner every night. The beach wasn’t nice at all for actually swimming. It was covered in shells and there’s a reef running down the entire beach. The resort is beautiful. The staff is incredibly attentive, the service is impeccable. We absolutely loved our plunge pool and spent most of our time there. The room itself was gorgeous, but the bed was probably one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept it. It’s a great resort, it was just a little too laid back for our liking.
