Cocobay Resort in Saint Mary's, Antigua and Barbuda

There is no dividing line between the paradise inside the cottages of Cocobay Resort and the paradise outside – fling open the patio door and let a breeze flow from the aquamarine Caribbean waters over the rustic wood floors and through the crisp white linens of your sleeping quarters. Adirondack chairs anchor a permanent sunbathing spot on the terrace of this waterfront all-inclusive that is equally secluded and connected to life in town.

Slip your toes into floury white sand and let the sun melt away any tension in your shoulders. Float in crystalline waters. Return to dry land for a guided nature walk through the lush hillside with a local medicine man, learning about the healing properties of plants and herbs. Dine on rock shrimp and toast the sunset as waves crash on the rocks below.

First time going to the Caribbean and I have to say I loved it, in the end! At first I was a bit panicky because a) it was SO hot and humid and was overwhelmed by the heat b) I got bitten by mosquitos the minute I got out the cab and walked into the hotel reception (take LOTS of mozzie repellent if you're prone to getting bitten!) and I spent ages in the reception because they needed some paperwork from me which I didnt have (I didn't print much out so it's my own fault!) and c) we werent aware of any dress code, at least not a strict one, so my partner didnt bring any of the clothes required and only had the jeans and boots he travelled in so each night trying to eat dinner in trousers and shoes for him was unbearably hot and not fair. That would be my only niggle with this place - how can you expect people to eat in that heat, and also have no problem with girls wandering around in next to nothing and expecting the men to cover up - double standards! I would definitely recommend this resort for it's simplistic and rustic beauty and gorgeous turquoise sea and white sand. The food is small portions but I welcomed that as opposed to a big old buffet with everyone gorging and stuffing their faces - it seemed they actually cared about the food they were serving and put a lot of effort and appreciation into what they served up! Everyone was on their honeymoon, but not us haha, just a beautiful holiday! Choose this place but here's my advice: 1. Take with you something you can use to cover yourself with at night in the restaurant at night to help avoid mozzie attacks 2. take earplugs because the tree frogs are NOISY and might affect sleep 3. expect to pay for wifi each day you want to use it and 4 - expect to wake up early because there are no curtains

I surprised my wife with a six night stay at Cocobay for our Honeymoon and I do not have a single regret about my decision to begin our new lives together at this quiet, exotic, and romantic resort. I have never taken the time to write a review about anything, good or bad, but this place was amazing. The views were unbelievable and every single employee at the resort constantly made sure we were having the most incredible experience. My wife and I honestly felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves for the majority of the time! If you are looking for a secluded, low-key (but very fun) resort, do not look anywhere else. If you are looking for a resort with hundreds (or thousands) of people and long lines and no seclusion, then don't stay here, check out the massive Sandals down the coast.

My wife and I just returned from Antigua and it was among the top vacations we've had, largely due to our choice of Cocobay. Simply put this resort is spectacular for three main reasons: scenery, comfort, and guest services. Well maybe four - dinners at the restaurant excellent and far beyond what you'd expect from an all-inclusive. A highlight was our quaint cottage ('Fungee'). The best part is a large deck with an outdoor claw foot tub, plunge pool, and large lounger. Direct views from the cottage are nothing but ocean, hills and the occasional sail boat. Total heaven!! Resort ammenities are excellent and the grounds and buildings are impeccably maintained. There are two infinity pools, one that overlooks the ocean and beach and another perched up high offering gorgeous panoramic views of the sea and the island. Lastly but importantly, I can't say enough about the amazing staff. Everyone is so polite, friendly, hard working, and they go out of their way to make your stay the best possible. I have to give a special shout out to Vencia ... LOVE her!!! She is a truly wonderful person and our vacation was made better by knowing her. SPECIAL TIP - Book your reservation through the resort Website and join the member club. We got incredible daily room discounts and an upgraded dinner menu. Huge value.

Had an amazing few days here back in Mar. Split our stay in Antigua between a couple of hotels and definitely saved the best till last. From the moment the taxi dropped us off to the moment we left, the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The service throughout was first class, which combined with the shabby chic charm and amazing views make this a truly special hotel. We didn't book direct, so like others have commented, we didn't get a fridge full of complimentary drinks. Which is a bit annoying. There is a two tier all inclusive system in place and if they had given us the option to upgrade on check in I would have done so. But that's the only negative. I'll just know to book direct if we visit again. In short, a great spot for a very relaxing break. We loved it.

My husband and I stayed at the Cocobay Resort last Fall and we fell in love with not just the island itself, but the wonderful people we met there. We are used to staying in all-inclusive hotels when traveling to the Caribbean and we were not disappointed with the food and service at Cocobay. It is much smaller than a resort which was refreshing but also meant that there were no tv's in the room, no wi-fi (which was great actually) and you must sign up early in the day for a dinner reservation, especially if you are particular about what time you'd like to eat. Breakfast and lunch had many options and the food was really good as were the drinks and entertainment. This is wonderful place to unwind and relax. The beach at Cocobay was so beautiful and the water was amazing for swimming and snorkeling. I preferred the beach over the pools even though they were very nice as well. Our cottage was a bit of a walk from the lobby/restaurant but we had a great view and loved hanging out in our balcony - we were even given a bottle of champagne upon our arrival which was great and really thoughtful. The manager and staff greet guests as they arrive and throughout their stay, and the manager asked me a few times how we were enjoying our stay - I think the staff here has been some of the most kind and professional that we've ever had and we felt very well taken care of. Hopefully we can go back soon! I suppose the only cons were that the walkways were very dark in the evenings and larger signs or lights would've been helpful to find our way back to our room but that was nothing major.
