Cocobay Resort in Saint Mary's, Antigua and Barbuda

There is no dividing line between the paradise inside the cottages of Cocobay Resort and the paradise outside – fling open the patio door and let a breeze flow from the aquamarine Caribbean waters over the rustic wood floors and through the crisp white linens of your sleeping quarters. Adirondack chairs anchor a permanent sunbathing spot on the terrace of this waterfront all-inclusive that is equally secluded and connected to life in town.

Slip your toes into floury white sand and let the sun melt away any tension in your shoulders. Float in crystalline waters. Return to dry land for a guided nature walk through the lush hillside with a local medicine man, learning about the healing properties of plants and herbs. Dine on rock shrimp and toast the sunset as waves crash on the rocks below.

I would not change a thing about our stay at Cocobay Resort in Antigua for our Honeymoon, other than booking a longer stay! From the minute we were picked up from the airport (complementary) to the minute we checked out, we received nothing short of fantastic service. I'll first start by saying we booked our trip via Cocobay's personal online website. This guaranteed us certain "extra" amenities such as bottle service in our room whenever we wanted, free wifi, a complementary car service pick up from the airport to the resort and additional upgraded meal options such as lobster, shrimp and steak every night. We also were able to receive a "honeymoon" discount via their website and became site members. I know Cocobay always runs additional specials/promotions via their Instagram page as well. The staff at this resort was the friendliest and most accommodating staff my husband and I have experienced on a vacation. They were always quick to deliver what we needed to our room when we called and substitute certain meal options during dinner. The concierge helped book our excursions on the first day and recommended GREAT options. We ended up doing the Creole Lobster Lunch cruise (we loved Glen!), the dinner on the beach, stingray city and shirley's heights. All trips were amazing, thank you Matika! Despite the resort being "all inclusive" with prepared meals at specific times, each and every meal was DELICIOUS. I mean, the best all inclusive food we've ever had. Fresh, tasty, and tons of great options. My husband and I looked forward to the meals every day. The rooms were great as well, we stayed in a plunge pool room with the most amazing view of the bay. Waking up to the sound of waves crashing was pure heaven. I will say, the plunge pool was a little chilly, mainly because it doesn't see much sun. But nothing that you can't get used to in an 80F degree paradise. The two main infinity pools were amazing and drink service while you sat around and sun bathed was such a nice touch- they really pamper you here. You do have to get to the pools and beach chairs early if you want a prime spot. A lot of the older couples will reserve spots with their towels. It didn't bother us much, as we got into the routine of reserving our spots at a certain time and heading to breakfast. Halfway through our trip what really made it special to us was when the Cocobay staff members surprised us by setting up candles and flower petals around our bed when we were out to dinner. We came back to this beautiful set up and it couldn't have been a better surprise!! The ONLY complaint I can think of is also about halfway through the trip, we started getting tiny bug bites- not sure if they were mosquito or fly bites but they sure were itchy. I wish they sprayed a little bit better, but it's to be expected anywhere tropical so not really a complaint. Overall, our stay at Cocobay was one we will never forget and not only because it was our honeymoon, but because what a PERFECT honeymoon it was due to Cocobay. I'm trying to convince my husband that a 1 year anniversary trip back isn't too soon ;) Thanks Cocobay!!!

First impression of the beach and resort was perhaps a bit underwhelming. I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively and seen more beautiful beaches and resorts; however, by the last day I knew I would miss the island and Cocobay. The rating is more a 4.5 as there are definite areas for improvement. I was questioned about my use of beach towels, smoking is allowed by the pool, beach and the bar (please have one designated area), the buffet lunch was fair (opt for the panini of the day by the pool bar), the special dining room seating for some guests ( I asked for a seat by the water - told seated for 3 so couldn’t sit there and not two minutes later the same host sat a couple there) and what I dread about all-inclusive resorts - the obnoxious inebriated guests by the pool one afternoon (not an issue on the beach). What was special were the wonderful rustic chic bungalows, the friendly staff ( some glum in the dining room but overall great), the dining on the beach ( extra $150 but wonderful) and the intimacy of the setting. We never had an issue getting a chair on the beach no matter the time of day. All beaches in Antigua are public but even on the weekend it was quiet. There were times I was the only one in the water. Again not the best sand beach but the water was warm and the turquoise views expansive. There is limited beach service but you are not far from the hotel beach bar. In March, we experienced no bugs ( very little rain for two months helped). We found the all-inclusive food to be fair to very good and though expensive- loved Sheer Rocks as a nice change to the regular dining room. Sign up for your dinner time as soon as you go to breakfast - the regulars are on top of this! I’m writing this in an airport and already missing Cocobay.

Beautiful resort set in paradise but what really makes it magical are the warm, loving, funny, helpful and sincere staff. Couldn't have been made to feel more welcome or comfortable - despite the airline losing my suitcase! Will definitely be returning as soon as possible

This is a relaxed resort in a very scenic location The cottages are set out over quite a large but beautifully landscaped area. The staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities provide all you could need and the food and drinks are exceptional.

Perfect resort to escape and get lost in the Carrabean sunshine!! Food, service, rooms, beach, infinity pool all just what we needed. Absolutely recommend for a romantic escape. Recommend boat trip around the island and swimming with Stingrays.
