Cocobay Resort in Saint Mary's, Antigua and Barbuda

There is no dividing line between the paradise inside the cottages of Cocobay Resort and the paradise outside – fling open the patio door and let a breeze flow from the aquamarine Caribbean waters over the rustic wood floors and through the crisp white linens of your sleeping quarters. Adirondack chairs anchor a permanent sunbathing spot on the terrace of this waterfront all-inclusive that is equally secluded and connected to life in town.

Slip your toes into floury white sand and let the sun melt away any tension in your shoulders. Float in crystalline waters. Return to dry land for a guided nature walk through the lush hillside with a local medicine man, learning about the healing properties of plants and herbs. Dine on rock shrimp and toast the sunset as waves crash on the rocks below.

We had a week at this resort in May to celebrate a birthday and our wedding anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful ! On check in we were asked for our anniversary date on the form we filled in which I provided and a bottle of champagne was waiting in our room on the day itself which was a wonderful surprise and so thoughtful. We had a lovely deluxe cottage with air con and as other reviews have said, the resort is all inclusive. We spent a lot of time on our balcony in the mornings enjoying the beautiful sea view and relaxing , sometimes in the lovely hammock before venturing out for the rest of the day. The local hotel beach is delightful for swimming and snorkelling and there was always a sun longer available although I don't know what it would be like in peak season and there is another beach that can be reached by walking around the coast line and paddling through the water which was also lovely only more crowded . Our own snorkel broke on day 3 and the beach bar lady just handed over another one for us for the week purely on trust which was really nice - and which we returned on leaving of course. Breakfasts were very pleasant on a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea although sometimes things ran out and weren't refurbished quite quickly enough - but that is a minor quibble. Buffet lunch in the same restaurant was also very enjoyable with a nice choice . Four course dinner was superb although on the one night we paid a large premium for the steak on my husbands birthday we really did not think it was worth the money at all. Same with wifi which you have to pay for by the day and I think staff were so embarrassed by that the two days I bought somehow didn't appear on my bill at checkout - the steak did though. There is a free computer to use in reception though which I used a lot . I don't however think you should have to pay for wifi in such a luxury resort - it seems so nit picking ! We had a fabulous day length catamaran and snorkelling trip and also did the eco tour of the island which was terrific and included everything you could want - 4 wheel drive, plantation, all the sights , snorkel, kayak, nice lunch etc - well worth the money. There is a bit of a walk from the bar area back to the rooms but we enjoyed that as it was good exercise after all the eating and drinking. We tended to take our drinks back from the bar to our balcony in the early evening rather than sitting in the bar area , which was equally as enjoyable . And of course there appeared to be no restrictions on the all inclusive drinks available as is often the case - beer, wine, spirits , cocktails etc were all freely available. So apart from the very minor quibbles above, this was a fantastic holiday and I thoroughly recommend this resort for a lovely relaxing holiday.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here at cocobay. When we first booked to hotel, we were very excited but didn't do much research. We merely saw the cottage/room and fell in love. It was all inclusive with food and alcohol. The cottage feel was great. However, there aren't any televisions in the rooms. The televisions would've been nice to have for those quiet nights with no entertainment. The food was very good but if you're used to the all inclusive resorts where the food is always available, you wouldn't have been pleased. It wasn't the case at cocobay. They had specific times for breakfast lunch and dinner as well as a tea time. However, if you missed any of those times, you were pretty much screwed. Unless you asked the staff to help you out with something to eat and they would be more than helpful to accommodate with making a quick sandwich. My wife doesn't eat red meat and pork. Whenever there was something on the menu that she couldn't eat, they figured out a way to accommodate her needs. The drinks were definitely not watered down. The staff were really nice to everyone. They always had a smile on their face. One thing that we really didn't like was that there was a lack of entertainment. They did have a band play here and there but that was it. After 11pm, everything was shut down. The bar was closed promptly at 11pm and there was nothing to do afterwards. If you're looking for a quiet relaxing getaway, go with this resort. If you're looking to party, don't come here. You can book excursions with the staff at the front desk or speak with the ladies on the beach by the resort and compare prices. We booked our trips with the ladies. They were helpful and there weren't any issues. They worked like a business and even provided receipts if you're looking for legitimacy. They hooked us up with a land tour of the island with Matthew and he took care of us. We spent the whole day out, ate local food, picked fresh mangos, got to see some historical sites and took great pictures. Overall, my wife and I had a good time. If we didn't do the excursions, our experience would've been the opposite.

It's a paradise, all people are very kind and efficient, the rooms, like the rest of the resort, are very clean and well maintained. Meals are great with lots of choice. For the beach, there are no comments, it is to be seen!

If you are looking for the most romantic vacation you have ever been on, your search stops here. There is no place more beautiful, more tranquil, more serene, than the gorgeous resort at Cocobay on the most beautiful island in Antigua. From the time you arrive at this pristine little village, life goes from okay to perfect, from stressful to pure relaxation. Cocobay's primary goal is to ensure all of their vactioners have the time of their lives. We stayed in the cottage "Waddle and Daub" and from the moment we stepped foot onto our balcony, I knew we had made the best choice for our honeymoon. To be honest, I would have been fine never leaving the room, other than to get food. The views are unbeatable. We booked through the resort. After reading so many of the reviews it seemed that was the only way to go if we wanted all the extras. It was 110% worth the extra pennies. We stayed in the room a great deal of the time. We called the front desk and had champagne or rum delivered daily. When the staff delivered it, they insisted you continue enjoying yourself as they restocked the minibar. It was heaven. We newlyweds felt like a king and queen during our stay. While there are several activities/excursions to do around the resort, we only chose a couple of them because the views from our room was the main reason we chose Cocobay. They even allowed us to grab a float from the pool to put in ours so we could lay in our private plunge pool. The rooms come with two robes, which was wonderful for lounging around or getting out of the pool. They were so cozy!! (I would love to know the brand to purchase one for myself) Our favorite excursion was most definitely the LOBSTER LUNCH. It was a family run business (Creole Cuisine I believe) and they grilled the most amazing lobster I have ever had. The boat took us around to the celebrity homes on the island, which was really cool to see. We made two separate stops to snorkel in the beautiful reefs of Antigua. It was an exceptional trip and I highly recommend it! The captain on the boat was very knowledgeable and so friendly. And I mustn't forget to mention the food...OH the food! Breakfast, lunch and dinner...all exceptional. Even though there is only one restaurant included in the all-inclusive package, you never tire of it. We met one couple who had been there two weeks and they said they never had the same meal twice! The restaurant had such gorgeous views-panoramic scenery everywhere. I would encourage everyone to get the massages. We had two and they were incredible. Listening to the ocean waves while being massaged was amazing. Also, please note that the roof on the cottages are tin and you can hear all the wildlife at night. It was nice to sleep to. The rain showers at night also helped for a good night's rest. This trip was the best decision I have made in my lifetime. I hope this review helps anyone on the fence about choosing the beautiful Cocobay. Shoutout to all of the staff at Cocobay. You were all so kind, generous and the reason our time was so outstanding. THANK YOU!

We stayed at Cocobay March 23-30, 2017. It was our 4th stay in a row, next year will be 5. There is not a more beautiful place to relax and truly feel you are on vacation. The staff have become our friends; they have won over our hearts. From Blondell and Kathleen at breakfast, Kevin, our go-to man, Venzia's cocktails, to Robert and O'Shane for their service, you are all the best! Oh, and Mr. Gore's smile at dinner. The scenery, grounds, and views are so beautiful they don't look real. We always book through the resort, and enjoy many extra amenities. I dream of that Caribbean lobster the rest of the year. Next year will be our 25th anniversary and we're going right back to Cocobay. Our only regret is that we didn't find it for our honeymoon! See you in March, 2018, Cocobay. Our warmest regards to all of you.
