We arrived at 2:30 p.m. and were told they did not have our reservation. I had several emails saved with one of the management staff regarding our reservation prior to arriving. When I presented this, she just stated "Oh, I remember". We were not allowed in the unit until 6:30 p.m. because they said they were cleaning it? When we entered the unit, it was hot, the hot tub was cold at 87 degrees. We called twice to have it turned on with no success. My husband had to open the panel and fix the problem himself. This was a large 2 bedroom unit, that can sleep up to 8 people. The entire unit smelled of sewer gas. The fully stocked kitchen had one large plate, 3 coffee cups, 2 knives, 2 forks and so on. The air conditioning units when turned on were so loud you could not be in the room. My husband measured the decibels at 85-88 in both the master bedroom and the kitchen. The sliding glass door had a large crack all the way through it. All of this was brought to managements attention. They gave us an option to move units. When we looked at a different unit it had a dead cockroach in one of the rooms. A day later cockroaches started appearing in our unit. The grounds are kept up better than the units. It is just not worth the money and the management staff are awful to deal with.

This was our third visit Casa Del Mar and our second year celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday. A few things have changed, as many reviews note. This time around we partook of the buffet breakfast with which we were very happy. While there were some repeat dishes each day, there was enough of a variety to make the meals very enjoyable. On three days we dined on the restaurant terrace, the Sunday champagne buffet was served in the courtyard which was a nice change. Service at breakfast was excellent. As a matter of fact, we found the service throughout our stay as good, if not better, than our previous visits. Beginning with Ms. Velasco in the reservations department who patiently answered my pre-arrival questions promptly, to Edgar the valet, Dave at the front reception desk, the wonderful housekeeping ladies, Daniel and the spa employees, the staff could not have been nicer or more competent (there was a small mix up with our massage reservations but it was taken care of and corrected right away). Our room was lovely and listening to the sounds of the ocean as we fell asleep was as wonderful as we remembered (though the a/c was a bit loud, I think the units may have been on the roof right above our room-if you're a light sleeper, avoid the top floor). Part of this resort is a hotel and as others have mentioned, part is dedicated to timeshares or residences. I would have been interested in finding out a bit more about the different categories but did not want to sit through a selling presentation. This was the only area that was a bit less than stellar. We were approached by more than one concierge offering the presentation, it would have been good to note that we were not interested so that multiple requests were not made of us. We had lunch at the property three days, the food was tasty though not exceptional. The beach was gorgeous, we saw a few spots of hurricane damage but the resort has bounced back nicely. The day beds were being repaired, I think they were good to go by our last day. As an aside, the town of San Jose is undergoing extensive construction work, the shopkeepers and restaurants seem to be hurting some, which is a shame. Hopefully things will be on the upswing soon. We had a wonderful trip and hope to return again in the near future! Thank you Casa Del Mar!

Stayed at Casa Del Mar 5 times and the this last time the service level has really gone down. The property is still very beautiful and our room and view were great. Here are the areas where we had issues - 1.) Our room was never made up until at 4:00 in the afternoon and the level of service was sporadic (towels not always replaced, bed not fully made, floors swept). This is a small property and it wasn't fully booked. Housekeeping should definitely occur earlier than that time. 2.) The dinner menu in the restaurant is very limited and the "special" every night was sea bass....not very creative. The breakfast buffet was good, but a little pricey $25/person. 3.) Service at the pool was not very consistent. Sometimes it was more than an hour before the waiters came around to check and see if we needed anything. 4.) The last thing happened on the day we were checking out. The front desk called our room around 10:00AM to remind us the it was our last day. I informed them that we were planning on checking out that day and that our ride was picking us up at 12:30. I said we would be down at 12:15 to checkout. The front desk person said checkout time was noon and we would need to checkout by then. I could possibly understand this if the property was full and also if housekeeping was on top of things and cleaned rooms at a reasonable time. We have had some great times at this property, but will probably look for another resort for our next trip to Cabo.

view was great. very quiet which we liked. pool bar staff could have made a lot more in tips if they had been around more often. Had a problem with Globequest making our reservation and Dave the concierge went out of his way to help us. Any inquiry the whole 2 weeks and he was on it and got right back to us. Freddy the bellboy couldn't have been more helpful. Always there with a helping hand or a bit of advice on where to go. Cudo's to both of them.

Our fourth visit to this beautifully landscaped and well maintained boutique resort was once again the perfectly crafted relaxing getaway. Our ocean facing room in the main hotel was extraordinary, with beautiful balcony views of both the property, pool and ocean. However, the once special and extraordinary services provided during this visit were just "average"! For example, room clean up didn't occur until at least 4pm each day (unacceptable); access to the spa now costs $20/each per day and that's just to use the steam room and sauna; breakfast, although tasty and robust, was pretty much limited to a buffet only option @ $25/each and unfortunately the once robust and always changing dinner menu, stayed the same during the 5 day visit...boring to say the least. The final straw was at checkout, our transportation indicated a 12:30 pm pickup and when asked to stay in the room until 12:15 pm, we were told that checkout was at noon...this after a full week of a room that wasn't cleaned until 4pm each day. A variety of management/ownership changes during the past 6 years have definitely impacted a few of the things that initially attracted us to this special property and kept us coming back, the most recent visit left us definitely ready to consider other properties during our next visit. With this stated, it's still a unique and beautiful property, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cabo and a perfect place to rest and enjoy the views! A few of the longterm staff, specifically Modesto made the visit memorable.
